Your video helped me understand the Nikon video / i menu wow so much knowledge and you did a really great job. Thank you for your video and tips it certainly helped me take advantage of its customizable buttons. I thumbs up so I can always return
100% Agree with all these settings. The AFF is an amazing focus mode as well. It's like having an internal Follow Focus on the camera. Love Nikon Z6II series
If you have the money then the z6ii. It has eye tracking and two memory card slot and the second slot is for regular SD card! I own the regular Z6 and it’s still awesome!
Thanks for sharing. I just purchased the Z6ii. Can you take photos while in video mode when doing weddings and events? I'm thinking about doing video at some of my weddings. I normally do just photo.
Yes but not raw photos, just jpg photos. While the video is recording if you press the shutter button it will take a shot. If you’re filming in 4k, you get 8mp jpg photo. If I have to get photos while doing video, I just do the video only then in the video editing app like premiere I export jpg images from the best frame of that video clip which make an amazing shot cause you get to pick the exact moment like when a bouquet is being tossed.
Thank you so much for this!! Been trying to find this video. I am going to record 10-15 second videos for RUclips shorts. Do you mind recommending me video settings for my nikon z5? ☺️
You can change your settings to HD at 30 frames for second in portrait, color mode and film it vertically. Make sure you get a wireless mic for good audio.
Thanks for the video, I've subscribed. Have owned my Z6 for a year but haven't really done any video yet, looking forward to it now! Thanks. All the best for 2021.
I love your videos and the background noise of your kid. Please keep that! EDIT: I had a question but it has been answered below. Thanks for the tip about FX/DX, It makes a lot of sense for video as you don’t even lose any resolution (1080 stays 1080!!) Cheers
Hi, thanks for sharing some very important settings . Im yet to get a Z camera and im planning to go for z6iii. Can you please advise if we can shoot videos using View finder without having to watch through LED screen?. Thanks
Yes you can definitely use the viewfinder to film and during sunny days that’s even better! I also find it easier to see if my shots are in focus when I’m in manual focus mode. I’ll mention that next time. Here is my best video setting for z8 which is a lot closer to the z6iii. Z6iii is a little brother version of the z8. I’m hoping for the z6iii for Christmas so I can make a video regarding that camera! Here’s my z8 best video setting: ruclips.net/video/N125TPh8858/видео.html
Thanks for the help with these settings. As an amateur photographer, it's a daunting task to switch to video, but you make it easy. Your portfolio is fantastic. I love the wedding videos. However, you definitely use drones often, but I don't see many drone tutorials. Who knows....maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I'd love to see what you do with drones. I have a Mavic 2 Pro and definitely haven't dug in deep enough. Either way, great stuff. You're appreciated!
Thanks Scott. I made a video on the type of movements for drones you can get to make sure your shots are cinematic. ruclips.net/video/zqvlagMsdlc/видео.html
Great job sir with the explanations and illustrations. I'm new to the Z6 so I'm trying to absorb all that I can. There is a certain genuineness to your presentation that I do appreciate (and thus subscribed).
Thank you so much for that compliment Mark. You just gave me a little boost of motivation right there! I love my Z6. There are few more videos I made about the Z6 explaining the IBIS and all the different focus method it has if you want to check it out!
Can I call and see cameras have two different stabilization and you need to turn off the E stabilization so you don’t get that Jell-O effect. E stabilization is amazing for standing still like a tripod mode but once you move then he freaks out.
This is a great guide. The only snag I encountered was with setting the custom button assignment for quickly swapping between FX and DX mode. I had to go into menu option d6 (Limit selectable image area) to check the box for DX.
Yeah nikon was one of the first to come up with HD I’m 60fps and had stabilization. I even used my nikon dslr for some of my video gigs also back then. Now it’s way behind but luckily the Z cameras are doing so good with the videos! Plus photos of course.
Is there a gimbal you would recommend or have a video in which talk about the Nikon z6 along with the Ninja Átomos V and external mic? This video is helpful since I’m ordering my first Nikon mirrorless after using a regular camcorder for all my events.
I personally own the DJI RS 2. It is the best gimbal and the priciest too. It’s worth it for being the lightest and having a strong motor. I actually made a RUclips video on it too. Here’s the link to Amazon amzn.to/3IPixJc
Vibration reductions purpose is to get rid of micro jitters. Try holding your camera and shoot a video with no VR zoomed in. You will see this tiny shakiness your body just naturally makes and you can really see it in the video if you look at it in your computer. Electric VR, try’s to make your shots even more still like you’re on a tripod.
Thanks Sarah! It’s straight from nikon z6. I don’t use the external recorders for weddings since it gets heavy and wedding is all day. Out of my cameras, I love the way z6 looks the most. Thanks for commenting. Do you film weddings too?
Something in $50 range. There are cheaper ones but it creates strange light reflections and there are over $100 ones and that’s ridiculous. Make sure you get the right filter size. You can even get step up and step down rings so you’re only using one filter instead of having to buy bunch of different ones. Be sure to sign up at my free email list so I can connect with you and send out tutorials and reviews at www.cameratofreedom.com. Here’s an Amazon link amzn.to/3it12TD
Wow great video! & I know this is an old video but my z6 doesn’t have the option to shoot at anything higher than 60fps any suggestions? Shooting on a 24-70mm lens that came with it
First of all amazing video. My question is: what are the correct settings in terms of ISO for example? My Problem is that when i shoot for example at 1080p 60fps 1/125 my video is too dark when i select a f stop of f7, f8, f9 for example and the ISO is too high so there is too much noise. It would be great if you could help me out Thanks!
First off when shooting at bright areas, always try to stick to 100 to 200 ISO since that's the best quality. Once you go inside or to darker areas, your setting at 1080. 60fps 1/125 shutter is correct. Then that's when you start moving your ISO up until you get the look that you like. When doing this, be sure set the ISO so your video looks more slightly brighter then darker. You don't want to make to make it brighter when you're editing cause like you said, the shadows become grainy. Luckily our Z cameras can handle alot of ISO which makes so awesome! Know that when you're using smaller aperture like f7, the video will be darker, have less bokeh but moredistance will be in focus giving you room for error when focusing on your subject.
Does this Nikon z6 capture photos while filming? I plan on doing a wedding. My preference is media/video but photos will be needed. Lmk please. Do you also suggest a DJI sc II or should free hand be acceptable? Russell
It does take photos while filming it take jpg photos during that mode. You definitely want another camera if you want to take raw photos. You definitely should get DJI RS2 to gimbal with your nikon. I have my latest wedding video shot on this nikon at ruclips.net/video/4JrhjsmeSM4/видео.html
I was debating between the Canon R6 or the Nikon Z6 but the Nikon is best overall camera more sharper. The only thing I like about canon is the Shutter curtain that protects the sensor.
Alpha and Omega that r6 has some awesome specs. That shutter curtain is such an awesome idea, all camera needs one like how all cats have seat belts! R6 is more expensive. You can’t go wrong either way. Mostly depends on what lens you already own but if it’s from fresh start, it’s like joining the Kobe lakers or Jordan bulls, all good!
If you want to add slow-motion on your videos then I would highly suggest to shoot on 60fps and 120fps for super slo-mo. I don't know why most of these videographers are always suggesting to use 24fps to achieve that "cinematic look" ... if you slow down a 24fps or even a 30fps to 50% it will look choppy af!
I’m actually going to wait until it actually comes with the camera. It feels like such a hassle to send it off then pay extra $200 to get it. I have the blackmagic for raw video. But I’m curious about the quality of that nikon prores raw video for sure!!!
You’re totally right! I forgot to go into details about it. Made a whole video on just that button and ibis since there were so much to talk about regarding the nikon ibis.
Great video. I am going to use the Avid DNxHDQX codec on my Atomos. I did buy some Variable ND filters and will shoot at 30 FPS and a shutter speed of 1/60th. One thing is I just have to use external mics. That is the only thing on the Z6 that I don't like the audio preamps are noisey. Thanks for your great video. The new firmware is also really great.
Hi, great video. I want to use a field monitor on my Z6. In photo-modus I can see the setting on the monitor, in video-modus it´s just the blank screen. Can you chance this? I havn´t found anything about it.
You can’t change that. They don’t give us an option to put display information on the external monitor. I was disappointed about that to. Just use the cameras monitor for the information and the external monitor to make sure everything is in focus.
Thanks for the effort and sharing. Any thoughts on the quality of the Nikon pre-amps? I use these small hybrids for talking head interviews with non-professionals who are not intimidated by the small camera size rather than a FS7 or C300 larger rig. But the audio needs to be good. Very good. Nikon pre-amps? Stay well. Thumbs up.
If you’re just doing corporate interviews and such, nikon z6 is great and one of the best co pared to other mirrorless. But it’s not Hollywood quality Ofcourse. Which wireless mics are you using with your z6?
Hi, to commend you for your wonderful videos. I'm from Serbia, I wanted to ask you about setting autofocus options when shooting. Which mods would you suggest to me as your best favorite? I have a problem when I shoot and when a person moves, so when a person turns and covers his face for a few seconds with either his hand or just turns, my autofocus is constantly lost, and I would like to solve that. I noticed that they have options 1. tracking focus for z. of 1 fast and 5 delayed 2. Af speed -5 slower and +5 fast 3. Sensitivity af for monitoring from 1 high to 7 low What would be your favorite setting after 1? under 2 and under 3? Thanks in advance.
The best option Ofcourse if use an external monitor so you can manual focus on your subject so it doesn’t mess up when the client covers their face. If you must use autofocus then here are some tips on my other focus tutorial ruclips.net/video/Sw0-G6Lnmoo/видео.html
What focus setting would you use for a travel video where your filming scenery/landscapes? Also what setting for use with a gimbal? Lastly should I use auto ISO or manual? I might be filming on a boat at the middle of the day and will use a variable neutral density filter, what do I do with ISO for that? Any recommended F stop? Sorry I’m new to filming and my Z6 and am going on a trip!
You can rely on the full auto focus mode for what you’re doing. I don’t like auto iso but only in very specific scenes like walking from outside to inside of a house. Here is a new video I uploaded regarding nikon z setting for video mode ruclips.net/video/IsQ7KxwdpWk/видео.html
Hello Myong pleaae in your experience using this camera how much time can you record 4K video with an 64Gb XQD memory card?..thanks for your reploy again.
There’s no way of calculating that even though most cameras gives you how many minutes you have left, our nikon Z doesn’t give that info. I’ll tell you what though, out of all my cameras, my Z6 has the smallest file size with 4K video.
@@CameraToFreedom Hello Friend, just if someone else ask for the same, i´ve been tested this and i got for 4K video, 1Gb for 1 video minute (more or less), so for the max of 29m:59s that Z6 can record continously you have 30Gb of memory used in a XQD memory card... this will be helpfull to have an idea...hope that helps to someone...best regards pal, cheers.
Dude you are literally the best thank you so much! I had no idea how to explain to people the weird warp thing the camera does when capturing motion with electronic vr ON and you just solved the bane of my existence. Thank you! Curious though, your wedding footage is unbelievable! What sequence settings do you put your z6 footage on to get that look? I’m guessing you shot that at 60fps 120 Again thank you man !!!
Aww thanks for those kinds words Oscar. Super motivating to keep making videos! Yeah I shot it in 60fps. Also using my Tamron 35mm, 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 that helps make the image look great! Not to mention the lighting was good in those scenes.
What Nikkor lenses do you recommend for video on the z6? my 50mm 1.8 is one of my favorite photo lenses, but I'm not too pleased with its performance on video
@@CameraToFreedom Again please do u use DJI rs2 gimbal, currently got one and having problem with the mode settings when shooting wedding, of u don’t mind sharing ur mode settings….thanx
You might’ve been told close to your camera. You have to be over 3 feet away from camera. If you are far enough then check your autofocus setting and make sure it’s full time continuous autofocus, the very last selection for focus setting. I’d say use a 35mm like my videos. I love 85mm lens for my work when I film out here or take pictures but for self filming I wouldn’t recommend it.
good one! the videos are more sharper... what would be the best setting ( values in sharpness) to shoot bride and groom.. and one more thing... how to turn off that lcd automatic turn off feature when we accidentally being the camera eye piece sensor near to our body....
There is a little button on the left side of the view finder. That changes the modes for your viewfinder to lcd or only lcd which turns off the sensor and viewfinder.
@@CameraToFreedom Oh My God! Such a Little Sauce i forgot to Notice! Thanks alot! u saved my day.. was going through the menus..... and Dear Myong Hong, kindly let me know what values u would prefer for settings in menu for video...( the sharpness, clarity values)
If o can pick one lens with any budget for my z, it would be the Nikon 24-70 f2.8 S lens. My favorite lens of all time and I finally got one from my wife
very nice tuto; I start video with my new Z6ii and struggle with AF. so, in AF-F auto area with eye detection, if the AF focus on a tree instead of the bride, no need to witch to wide-l and position red box or activate (FN1 in my case) the subject tracking yellow box ? just tap with your finger on the screen and AF-F will jump to the bride ? you say that AF-F is very noisy so even if what i just described works nicely, you advise to use Manual focus with focus peaking assist ? and easier on ninja V ?
Thank you for this video Myong, I have a audio question. Is it possible to use a boom mic and a lav mic at the same time with the Z6+atamos? I have a Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun and a Sennheiser EW 112P G4 Camera-Mount. Do you have any tips or recommended videos
Yes. Get yourself this cheap audio splitter at Amazon amzn.to/3qGbpGe. You put the lav mic on one and the boom mic on the other. When you edit, they will come out as left and right channel.
hello buddy, I have now bought such a set of z6 and ninja and I have a question if I can record in pro res raw or do I have to buy something from nikon from the site I uploaded to ninja update and I have prores but I can't record help for ninja please
Maybe a silly questions but I'm totally clueless with video... what is the overall mode you have the camera set in... aperture priority, shutter priority, manual, etc???
The perfect setting for video is Manual mode. First the highest aperture, so if the can open f2.8, use f2.8. Shutter at 50, shooting in 24fps while using the nd variable filter. Aperture mode and shutter priority is great for going automatic mode for video as you can see automatically changing as you go inside to outside of your house.
@@CameraToFreedom this is going to sound stupid but i have been experimenting trying to capture kingfishers in flight, i have had some success but still not sure which focus to use or shutter speed ( i have to have a minimum of 1/1600 tbh) i have been shooting in 60 and 120 fps so i can slow it down. what would you recomend
Paul Barrett in my opinion, your shutter is at a good setting. Aperture should be f4 or higher number and use manual focus. It’s gotta be so much thought to focus on fast birds so i definitely would recommend an external monitor so you can see better if you’re in focus or not. 120fps is cool so you can get some real slow motion! Autofocus for birds on z6 isn’t reliable enough just yet but maybe 50% ok if you want to use autofocus. I don’t shoot birds so I’m not pro but it’s what I would use for fast moving subjects.
@@CameraToFreedom thx for taking the time to reply the external monitor is something im looking at, I sometimes pair the z6 with a kowa spotting scope so you can imagine how critical the focusing must be (manual focus with scope). im trying to devise a way to make the focusing easier as the focus knob is so small, i need to make it bigger somehow for fine focus
Sadly to say Nikon Z6 doesn’t have waveform or histogram or anything to show the exposure. I have a ninja v that I click the log picture profile and also gives all those video scale and meters.
@@CameraToFreedom its very annoying. In photography mode i can check if i am 1 stop over or under using the exposure scale to adjust my settings to get zero. But nothing in video mode. So i have to pay $600 on Ninja to get that feature
Is there a way to quickly switch to video mode and have my settings all saved?? Let's say I am on a shoot and shooting stills in various modes, let's aperture priority, various focus modes, etc. and I need to grab a video clip. Is there a way to switch to video and have it set to 1/60 shutter and AFF or do I need to adjust these when I switch back and forth between still shooting and video shooting?
If you have it in manual, it will save any setting you have. So set your video to manual with 60th shutter, so you shoot photos in aperture, then change to video mode then flip your dial to manual mode. I do this all the time when my client want photos and video and they have such a low budget I have to do it all myself.
Thank you for this video! Unfortunately, I don't have any ND filters yet. I wonder if it's OK to set the exposure much higher than your FPS settings if you don't have an ND filter around and then slow down the footage while editing it? Or it's much better to get ND filter? For example, if I shoot at 1080@30 and set the exposure to 120 or higher in order to avoid overexposed video, then can I simply slow it down in post? Thanks in advance!
I wouldn't touch the exposure setting for video. If you don't have the ND filter just bring down the ISO to 100, then just set the shutter to a higher number until you get the exposure you like. Even though the rule is to set the shutter to X2 your fps, you can break that rule if you're just making youtube videos.
@@CameraToFreedom Thank you again! I tried test filming with my z6ii in the street. I set frame rate to 1080@30. I lowered the ISO value to the minimum, but footage was still overexposed at shutter X2 (1/60). I'm sorry - above I wrote exposure, but I meant shutter speed. So I had to decrease it to 1/120 or even 1/180 and then I got rid of overexposed footage. I guess I definitely need to look into ND filters.
@@NoWheelDrive it’s ok to keep your shutter at 120th. It’s even ok to keep your shutter at a 1000 if you don’t have a ND filter and it’s a sunny day outside. It is visually more pleasing to see it x2 your FPS but it’s really ok to have the shutter at lower number if you’re just making RUclips videos.
@@CameraToFreedom Thank you! Since I have no idea what to expect I guess I have to test it by myself, I mean record a random video at 1080@30 at 1/60, 1/120, etc and then compare footage in the editor. Bingo! :) Then I may get a variable ND filter as well...
Yes you can use the back screen and the EVF. The external recorder is to unlock the LOG and shoot in high bitrate Prores HQ. you don’t need it but it’s like adding turbo to your car. Better!
@@CameraToFreedom As I understand, Nikon does not allow you to use the full functionality on the Z6, you must use Atomos Ninja 5 to store 10 bits, otherwise you can only get 8 bits. Nikon made the Z6 only half the way. Right?
so for my Z6, I'm comfortable using clips as high as 5000 ISO, I still keep it below 1000 out of old habit and to know I'm getting the best video quality.
@@CameraToFreedom thanks for the advice and show your experience is very helpful i really apreciate the people who share their knoledge...thanks again.
@@CameraToFreedom I paint little miniature, while I am recording everything is fine. But once I take the SD card and put it in the computer to watch the tape, it lags, skips around or jumps over seconds at a time. Reminds me of when your Internet is bad and you’re playing video games.
@williamtrinidad3520 my guess is that your computer is slow and is having a hard time previewing 4k videos. Over 25 years of filming the o my time I’ve ever seen a laggy video is because the computer can’t handle it. Do you have a slow and old computer? Cameras have never created a laggy video.
That’s the atomos ninja v. I have a link on the description to amazon if you want to check it out. It’s a bigger screen so you can see if you’re out of focus or not plus more but best of all, it makes your nikon shoot in super high quality prores video. Also raw video if you unlock that feature for $200 that you pay nikon and send in your camera to unlock the beast mode! I have a atomos ninja v with nikon z video so check it out to see what I’m talking about!
That’s true it does have the Electronic vibration reduction but it was a software stabilizer instead of the in body image stabilizer that has mechanical ability to stabilize the sensor itself. But yo your point it was great the d500 was technically the first to have some kind of stabilization besides the lens VR.
I dont know why when i try to recodr and the sun is so hard and the person is under the shade the camera cant make focus and the video looks so dark can someone please help me
You have to shoot video in manual mode. Every other mode will try to do its best, but sometimes it doesn’t look the way we want it to. First, go to automatic mode and find out what camera setting you’re at. Switch to manual mode with the same settings. Now you can adjust the ISO, shutter, or the aperture to make it brighter or darker
Myong Hong yes but i have test this, when you shoot 120 or 100 fps you will get more detail in picture and In camera slow motion will decrease the details
Hi, what do you recommend for the sharpening setting in video? I'm using the flat profile and it's set to 0 in Quick Sharp, +1 in Sharpening... I hear a lot in general it's best to turn sharpening off, or I guess set it to the lowest negative number possible, and add sharpening in post. What are your thoughts? I'm using the Z6 ii with final cut pro.
There’s definitely not a write or wrong answer and it’s all preference. Some people love the sharp look how a GoPro looks and some people love the soft old vintage lens look. I like both depending on the type of video I’m making. I say leave the sharpening to default and you can sharpen in post if you like. It’s always best to get the ‘softer’ look by using the proper lenses instead of mechanically altering your settings from your camera and you’re stuck with that video. What if you are wanting a very blurry bokeh using a prime lens. Sharpening would ruin the way the bokeh looks. If you make it softer then you might get stuck sharpening too many footages during post causing longer editing time. Do what makes you feel satisfied with your footages and that way you are creating your brand look 👍🏽
@@CameraToFreedom Thanks for clarifying. The AF on my Z6 - now that I've got the settings right - works GREAT now without it, soooo .... there's THAT. LOL!
I own the z6 but I found one annoying thing. It has a bit of a lag when using it in video mode, not sure why. So far my Sony a7iii is performing 10x better in everything for VIDEO. But for photo the z6 is amazing
I always see lags even with my GH5 also. I think the lag goes away when you shoot in 60fps. I just never really got annoyed with it and didn’t think twice about it. Definitely noticed it today after reading your message and now I’m doing research on it!
Myong Hong nice! Yeah it’s bugging me out a lot. I shot a realestate video and had to use 4K 24fps since any fps above that is generally softer and the quality is a bit lesser (only for the Z6). So I’d often get distracted by the lag and mess up the shot
@@sunilchitolie6771 So now that I've been filming a speaker for the past month. My Z6 doesn't have any lag shooting at HD 24fps but my GH5 has a lag in the same setting. It was harder for me to listen with my Z6 because it has no lag and you can't hear the headphone audio that clearly since it's so in sync where as my GH5 with the lag, i can clearly hear her audio thanks to the lag and I can tweak the volume to make sure it sounds the way I want it. I like the lag :) Not sure if that's by design.
Many you need to get the Tamron tap-in console and make sure it’s for Nikon. Here amazon link to it amzn.to/2ZapDn1. You need up update the firmware of that lens and it’ll work. All tamron lens needs to update. Then it works amazingly!

Btw, that Z5 is awesome for videos too so get it started with that!

This is the best compliment I’ve gotten. Thanks Charlie!
Any tips for stabilization? Get a jello effect with every lens I have. Seems like you have to have a gimbal.
Can I call and see cameras have two different stabilization and you need to turn off the E stabilization so you don’t get that Jell-O effect. E stabilization is amazing for standing still like a tripod mode but once you move then he freaks out.
@@CameraToFreedom ok thank you. Awesome video by the way. Very helpful
This is a great guide. The only snag I encountered was with setting the custom button assignment for quickly swapping between FX and DX mode. I had to go into menu option d6 (Limit selectable image area) to check the box for DX.
Thanks Jerome. How you liking your camera?
@@CameraToFreedom Very happy with my Z6 and just getting in to shooting videos with it. It's been excellent for stills.
I remember my d850s had eVR in the video. And it was already doing a great job back then
Yeah nikon was one of the first to come up with HD I’m 60fps and had stabilization. I even used my nikon dslr for some of my video gigs also back then. Now it’s way behind but luckily the Z cameras are doing so good with the videos! Plus photos of course.
Thanks! That was very helpful
You welcome! Love how your RUclips name is Hybrid Shooter! We have to be!
@@CameraToFreedom thank you very much!
Thanks for the video..really helpful especially for my real estate videos
Awesome camera for real estate videos! Thanks for watching Robert!
great video. What's the difference between Vibration Reduction and Electronic VR?
Vibration reductions purpose is to get rid of micro jitters. Try holding your camera and shoot a video with no VR zoomed in. You will see this tiny shakiness your body just naturally makes and you can really see it in the video if you look at it in your computer. Electric VR, try’s to make your shots even more still like you’re on a tripod.
@@CameraToFreedom so should I turn on both?
Those wedding b-roll clips were amazing. Hard to believe they came from the z6. Were those clips recorded with the external monitor and in log?
Thanks Sarah! It’s straight from nikon z6. I don’t use the external recorders for weddings since it gets heavy and wedding is all day. Out of my cameras, I love the way z6 looks the most. Thanks for commenting. Do you film weddings too?
Good Job mate, very helpful
Thank you for that comment! 🙏😎
So I recommend the 82mm variable filter since that’s the biggest you’ll need for the 70-200 and 24-70 f2.8 at amzn.to/37ZCBIC
Then you can get step down rings like this set amzn.to/3j0LSXd so you can combine these rings to fit that 82mm to thread smaller.
Or if you’re like me I have that plus I have no filters for each of my favorite lenses that I use often since the me filters can be affordable.
Great video and explanations. Thank you for not rushing thru things. Very well done.
Thanks Reza!
Thanks for the video. What variable ND filter you suggest?
Something in $50 range. There are cheaper ones but it creates strange light reflections and there are over $100 ones and that’s ridiculous. Make sure you get the right filter size. You can even get step up and step down rings so you’re only using one filter instead of having to buy bunch of different ones. Wow great video! & I know this is an old video but my z6 doesn’t have the option to shoot at anything higher than 60fps any suggestions? Shooting on a 24-70mm lens that came with it
Our z6 can do 120fps at HD which most cameras are set that way and only few newer and expensive full frame mirrorless can do that in 4k.
@@CameraToFreedom strange I wonder why the option isn’t there for me!
@alexneil9965 check your firmware and update it to the latest. That’s gotta be it!
First of all amazing video. My question is: what are the correct settings in terms of ISO for example? My Problem is that when i shoot for example at 1080p 60fps 1/125 my video is too dark when i select a f stop of f7, f8, f9 for example and the ISO is too high so there is too much noise. It would be great if you could help me out
Thanks!
Thank you Sir! Loving my Z6
You welcome! Happy shooting!
Yes you’re right! Correct information.
Have you considered getting the Raw video feature for your Nikon Z6?
I’m actually going to wait until it actually comes with the camera. It feels like such a hassle to send it off then pay extra $200 to get it. I have the blackmagic for raw video. But I’m curious about the quality of that nikon prores raw video for sure!!!

@@CameraToFreedom Thx a lot. But why is it workin in phtoto-modus? Make not sense in a way. They should fix it with some update. ;) .

I noticed that they have options 1. tracking focus for z. of 1 fast and 5 delayed
2. Af speed -5 slower and +5 fast
3. Sensitivity af for monitoring from 1 high to 7 low
What would be your favorite setting after 1? under 2 and under 3?
Thanks in advance.
The best option Ofcourse if use an external monitor so you can manual focus on your subject so it doesn’t mess up when the client covers their face. If you must use autofocus then here are some tips on my other focus tutorial ruclips.net/video/Sw0-G6Lnmoo/видео.html
I have noticed that video is better with e wr turned off.. no more problems with shaking..

How do I film myself? I was trying to shoot myself with my Z6ii and Sigma Art 85mm 1.4 but it was not focusing. How can I overcome this?
You might’ve been told close to your camera. You have to be over 3 feet away from camera. If you are far enough then check your autofocus setting and make sure it’s full time continuous autofocus, the very last selection for focus setting. I’d say use a 35mm like my videos. I love 85mm lens for my work when I film out here or take pictures but for self filming I wouldn’t recommend it.

you say that AF-F is very noisy so even if what i just described works nicely, you advise to use Manual focus with focus peaking assist ? and easier on ninja V ?

hello buddy, I have now bought such a set of z6 and ninja and I have a question if I can record in pro res raw or do I have to buy something from nikon from the site I uploaded to ninja update and I have prores but I can't record help for ninja please
Ninja needs updating Ofcourse but mainly you have to send in your camera to Nikon, pay $200 then it will have Prores raw with your ninja!
Myong Hong Thanks!
Thanks

That right last update has 4k 60fps?
Yes with crop
With z6ii has 60fps with crop but not the Z6. That’s how they separate the price.
Hi can you tell me where the exposure scale/indicator is in video mode

@@CameraToFreedom excellent !!! Thank you so much !!
What lens are you using on the camera in this video?
Tamron 35mm f1.8 with my nikon z6.
What is the reason to use a separate 4K recording monitor? Is it possible to use EVF or back screen? Thanks.
Yes you can use the back screen and the EVF. The external recorder is to unlock the LOG and shoot in high bitrate Prores HQ. you don’t need it but it’s like adding turbo to your car. Better!

Sorry, several Nikon cameras before the Z6 had Electronic Vibration Reduction, specifically the D500...of which I own
That’s true it does have the Electronic vibration reduction but it was a software stabilizer instead of the in body image stabilizer that has mechanical ability to stabilize the sensor itself. But yo your point it was great the d500 was technically the first to have some kind of stabilization besides the lens VR.
You must try a Z mount lens. Not just the quality, but the silence. Ahh.
Yeah now I’m actually convinced. I keep hinting at my wife hook your husband up with a z lens! 😎
Video bit is 144 (120fps,100fps) And 29 bit when you use in camera slow mo
Yeah the bit rate goes up to compensate for the more frames it needs to shoot in those FPS but it doesn’t really increase quality.
Myong Hong yes but i have test this, when you shoot 120 or 100 fps you will get more detail in picture and In camera slow motion will decrease the details
Ooh that’s a great info to know!!! I didn’t know and I was just speculating on what I read! Good find!
My Z6 says "Eye detect does not function in movie mode" ... yours doesn't say that?
I made a mistake. Eye detection doesn’t work on video for z6 but does work for z6ii. Bummer but still our z6 does face detection!
Myong Hong wow thanks for the reply! Yeah I might not mind the lag as much too haha
The Z does not have eye autofocus for video -- That's coming with the ZIIs.
You’re totally right! I also caught that after I uploaded the video too. Thanks for the correction.
@@CameraToFreedom That's a feature people will be happy with, I'm sure. It'll make an already great camera better.
it suck! really sucks! waste of money for nikon z6!
how did you get the tamron to work on your z6? my 35mm tamron (same gen as the on your video) doesnt auto focus!
Many you need to get the Tamron tap-in console and make sure it’s for Nikon. Here amazon link to it amzn.to/2ZapDn1. You need up update the firmware of that lens and it’ll work. All tamron lens needs to update. Then it works amazingly!
Thanks maestro.. Love my z6 im just shooting with the 35. 1 camera & 1 lense. Also i offer hybrid shooting. Hugs @walocortes
Awesome! Keep it up and share with me some of the cool things you’ve done!
very boring and too much details....for no reason.....
Yes, I could’ve done better with the editing and maybe less details. Appreciate the comment though and the feedback.
