Dude, you sound so much like me. No matter how small the progress, you're a step or two ahead of where you were before, it's still a success. That's the best looking 305 I've seen.
You remind me of myself. When I went to work as a fleet mechanic I would clean and paint everything I worked on.I took some hell of a ribbing from the guys BUT I noticed maybe a few months later all the other mechanics were doing the same as I have been doing right along. That was a huge feather in my cap.So I was the butt of everyone's joke and than became the man everyone copied.I have done it that way all my life and will continue to do it the rest of my life.I consider it a learning experience, for them ,not me.
Thanks Russ! You would think the editing would get easier, and it does but then I just end up spending more time creating more complex composite shots. Lol
Man best video yet. Wish you had a new one every week. The editing and kick ass music is worth the wait. Love the ending. I won’t give away what happens next. People need to stay tuned to see. PS I gotta lose that damn rev limiter. Lol
i just did a swap in my 83 took the 6.5 diesel out in 1 day.swapped the 454 in the next day.then one day of hooking every thing up with new fuel cell and tuning. 3 day project.
Thanks man! Don't worry about the next one, it's already partially edited. Originally this video was supposed to be one episode but it ended up being so long that I decided to split it up.
Oh yea I have a ton of videos on the C-10. That's my main restoration project. Also check out the Blaum Bros Distillery trip, I think you'll dig it since you're a homebrewer.
Which way does the lobe on the throw out bearing face when installed? I have a 78 z28 I'm replacing the clutch on and I didn't pay attention when I took it out lol.
Idk the 307 is right up there with it. Although I have to say I've been able to road trip this car quite a bit this year because of that 305 so I might not throw it in the river just yet. Lol! Trans is a Super T-10
@@BustedClassicGarage I also have a 79 Z-28 with the Super T-10. Early on in my ownership, when I would take it somewhere to have work done they couldn't figure out how to put it in reverse. Now, I just do my own work. Our cars are a lot alike but mine has a 350 with T-Tops and yours has good paint with a Sb 400 (right?).
That wouldn't have helped. We have to get those bolts in with multiple pry bars. I realized later on that one of the motor mounts was completely warped probably from the torque of the old 400 sbc.
Nice weekend I would have to say, more done that most.... I have a 79 maro I tooled around in in the 90's, I still have it, 3rd owner, would buy the northeastern rebuild kits for 199 bucks in between nitro overloads.... turbo 350 though, I wanna put a hydraulic clutch in and make it a 4 speed, I have a 3.73 eaton posi track in rear , but the guy set it up for a automatic, and I dont know the diff of an auto setup to a manual setup... any thoughts? Really like your videos and for some reason you remind me of that guy on OOC back in the day.... Vinnie? Keep em coming.... Just posting the video is more than 95% of the folks watching are doing, so yea, your better than 95% of us....
Thanks man! Yeah I was kind of considering the same thing earlier this year, to switch it over to a hydraulic clutch. I might still do it at some point and if I do I'll definitely make an episode about it. But all you would really need is a hydraulic clutch conversion kit, the clutch pedal and the throwout bearing and you should be good to go. Too funny about the Vinnie comment... Haven't watched that show in years.
@@BustedClassicGarage Any idea about the rearend setup... I had the guy at my local dragstrip set my rearend up and he wanted to know if I was running an automatic turbo 350 or a clutch, I asked what the difference was and he wouldnt tell me other than it mattered so I am stuck with a turbo 350 setup in my Eaton positrack.... whatever that means.....
@@dougbeckwith768 I have the same gear set in the rear. The only problem you will run into is on the highway if you are running a old school Muncie or ST-10. Since 4th gear is a 1:1 ratio you will be at 3700 rpm at 75-80 mph. I thought this was going to be a problem for me, but my Camaro loves cruising at around 85 mph and that's at 4000 rpm. I think the biggest problem is on the wallet on long road trips because you are burning through a lot of gas.
305s can run. The stock heads are crap. There are some decent 58cc heads aftermarket. Just make sure you don't put a Chevy 350 style cam in there (112 -114 LCA), look for a 108 to 110 cam. Comp cams Xtreme Cam is decent, and Crane has some decent 110 cams that will work. Just make sure your exhaust is decent.
I'm not even going to bother with upgrades, this engine is temporary while I rebuild my 400 sbc. Thanks for the info though, maybe I'll stab that 305 in something else and throw in one of those cams.
Busted Classic Garage I'm glad it wasn't a bearing. Fun to watch. I have a 400 in my Chevelle. Just bought a set of 096 vortec heads for it. Can't wait for the goddamn snow to melt so I can get going on the upgrade. I was pressure washing the heads out in the snow yesterday in 20 degree weather. Fun stuff.
Lol, yup. I'm in the process of building a 400 that I originally blew up a couple years ago. I just wanted to throw something in there just to be able to drive it. Got me to Power Tour this year.
Thanx, this was a good video for me since I have been more of a driver, than I mechanic. Made the Kastle' Run around Star Lake at Placid During a Thunder and Lightning Snowstorm in the Wee hrs of the Night (In under 13 parscects ) with a Terrified Lady Friend, puking on my Yosemity Sam floor Covers, I was PERTURBED !!!. Say Yer Prayers Varmint !!! (and quit chewing on the leather on my Schrimshaw Lepard bitch ). So my Zed was kind of sacred to me and Nothing Good has happened to anyone that has kept us apart. I'm not a fanatic Im just trying to bring ByTor the ghost dog back home so he can get some rest and relaxation now that I'm retired .
No not yet, I have everything for it except the roller cam and aluminum heads. Which is the reason why it's still not together. I knew with everything else going on I wasn't going to be able to invest another $3,000 to finish the motor last spring so I decided to throw something in for the meantime so I could drive it around.
That's awesome. I have three engines that I have to rebuild at the moment, so there's going to be a lot more technical stuff in those upcoming videos. Stay tuned!
Yeah he did, but without that motor my car would have sat for the last couple years. And with that motor in I got to go on Power Tour and all sorts of other road trips. So one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Good point Kevin! Thanks for watching!
Finally a video with good music and not that new retro bs crap everyone's starting to put up
Yup, the metal flows on this channel and I'm not just talking about a weld puddle. Lol

Awesome Video! Can't wait till part 2!
Thanks Kurt! Hopefully you're not going to have to wait too long since I have a good portion of the next video already edited.
Great Job,!!! cant wait till the next one!!!!

Thanks Rich once again for donating that engine to the channel! Summer would have been a lot less exciting with that Camaro sitting in the driveway.
You did that✅ great job
Thanks! I'm going to be doing another weekend swap soon.
On the way to pick a 69 c10, the camaro engine might go into it. Stay tuned!

pro trick : watch movies at flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies these days.
@Felix Victor yup, been using flixzone for years myself :)
awesome video....
Thanks!

Hey Bart, digging the c-10 in the back ground. Hope you do a build video on that. Hope to have one one day.

Well done .

The wider fatter end goes towards the pressure plate. Just make sure that the throw out bearing is seated correctly in the clutch fork.
How bout that video quality though! Stepping it up for sure.
Thanks man! The 50mm prime lens definitely helped.
This intro is fantastic! Super into your channel now, glad we connected on mine.
Thanks man! I'm glad that intro turned out the way it did. I was basically playing director with one of my friends that has never filmed before.
Good job
Thanks Effen! Glad you liked it
SWEET AS HELL

Those are June bugs, Bass love em
I might have to put that to the test!
I appreciate your disdain of the 305. Its the worst sbc. Is your tranny a B-W super T-10 or a Saginaw? I couldn't tell.
