Always brings a tear to my eye..... the sound of the lone piper... Makes me think of our wee country, small and beautiful.... Been through hard times but heading for better times. Hautingly beautiful :)
I don't know about anyone else, but I just had to return his salute. I guess that's what old soldiers do. From the US to the UK and Australia and Canada. May God bless all our young men and women, and bring them home safe. God Bless and Keep the ones who have given their all.
Can't explain how many goosebumps i just got, Cannot wait until Hogmanay, No one knows hot to party like the Scots, We enjoy our drink, Our parties, Our laughter, Our heritage and Our Rightful Freedom! Long live Scotland The Brave! [>
He's quite something! A good Scottish Piper with a good Scottish name! I'k looking forward to (hopefully) seeing the Edinburgh Miltary Tattoo in Sydney next year. :-)
Because it's the TV broadcast of the Tattoo....the commentator speaks during the first few seconds because he's introducing the band/s to the viewers. If you watch the pre-game shows by the Pride of Arizona, there's the same 'idea'
+John Knagg I will stand by my comment. Finlay's earlier career, with the Regiment shows through in this clip. He gained his military piping qualifications in the Q.O.Highlanders. He is a piper of distinction and respected as such. He may be piping for The RAF now but he will always be a son of Cabar Feidh. We never forget our roots
+John Knagg Finlay passed his Advanced Pipers Course whilst serving as a L/Cpl in the Q.O.Hldrs 1986-87. The drill and bearing was already established before his appointment to RAF Waddington Pipe Band.
Thats something the US just cant pull off - exercising a tradition that goes back 2000 years drenched in 500 year old customs over looking 4000 years of history.. and just one lone piper in our modestey we are majestic.
2 things one what is this peice called ? 2nd does anyone have the sheet music for this ? I try looking for a greatful prayer and end up with zero results -.-
I dont have the music for it as I learnt it one afternoon a couple of days before this was taken. Lost it running up and down the castle as they say. I would need to write it out. It was composed by my friend Major Stevie Small who now runs the Pipers Trail for the Edinburgh Tattoo. So anyone that wants to play on the Tattoo and could make the Grade - contact Stevie. The tune is called A Greatfu Prayer.

German here, out to Ypres for remembrance. Reaching out the hand to everyone so we won't fall out again. Lest we forget.

Finlay was a Queens Own Highlander before the RAF, That's where he gets his military bearing from
