I am from New Zealand, and my ancestors are from Dunedin New Zealand and Paisley Scotland. My father played the pipes in the Royal New Zealand Army Scottish Regiment. I am literally sobbing right now. I miss him so much. Thank you for posting this.

2022 - reminiscing. I'm a Kiwi. ex military. Best work friend and I bought 2 tickets nearly 1 yr in advance of this Tattoo.
We were both traveling (going walkabouts-like).
Three days before finale - friend cant make it to Scotland. What to do?
Had best seats in entire show. Center 2 seats, 2 rows below royal box with HRH Prince Charles present.
On the night I que with me, myself and I. I approach 1 and all with no scalping - just please someone use the ticket! NOT A CHANCE. LIKE I HAD THE POX!
12 m from the entrance I overhear a bunch of locals saying to one of their own " sorry you cant join us but we'll meet you here ..."
March up to them, stand to attention, Country, Name, rank, serial number, and reason why i have 2nd best ticket in town.
They take a chance, I share enjoyment of a lifetime, they in return offer a lone Kiwi some local hospitality after the show!
I'm an Irish Kiwi - God Bless the Scots.

I'm not even from Gaelic or Celtic descent, at least not as far as I know.
But every time I hear so many bagpipes, I just feel the same way as you. This kind o' tune is soo great for hand-to-hand fighting scene of WW1, WW2, and so on.
    LONG LIVE BRITAIN !!
    LONG LIVE SCOTLAAAAAAAND !!

My Grandfather also was from Glasgow and Grandmother from Aberdeen; I was around 17 when I could finally understand what he was saying. Our Clan is Leslie. I have been a piper or trying for 62 yrs. and presently to retain our Scottish heritage and legacy, Pipe Major of the Erepa Grotto Pipes and Drums. This has been my favorite Tattoo since that day it occurred. Thank YOU for your post !

Absolutely excellent! I had the honour to meet the Black Watch when I was in the German Air Force at Ramstein Airbase in 1983. Can you imagine what fun it was if a Scot tries to learn a German how to play the bagpipe? At first the loughter was on scottish side, at least on both... Something I never forgot.I´m proud that I had this experiance and that I´ve met these extraordinary soldiers.

Yes I have quite a bit of Scottish heritage and the fact that so many around the world claim this heritage is a testament to the Scots. You have given much to the world and should be proud.
