The difference between Gibson and Gretsch is that Gibson will sell you a one pickup slab guitar for $1500 because it's AUthENtiC, but Gretsch will sell you a guitar for what it's actually worth
The fancier Jets are made in Japan, with an eye-watering $2000 price jump over the chinese versions. That's a big chunk of change, and the "value" of that is going to be a personal judgement. I got one of the chinese models a few years ago and the wood is nicely finished but the chromed hardware tarnished fast.
@@brooksrownd2275 i have a Japan-made white penguin 6134 and an Electromatic 5410, made in Korea. The Penguin is perfect, but costs 5x the price of the Electromatic. The 5410 has near perfect QC, but you definitely notice the difference in the hardware, especially the Bigsby.
@@RByrne I wonder whether some of the hardware that looks the same on the japanese models is actually different or not. My tailpiece is already pitted. It can be replaced, but I'm curious if the japanese tailpiece is the same manufacture or somehow better.
thanks Dagan for the demo and just being the coolest dude on youtube. I was almost about to buy the 5220 with broadtrons but You just sold me on the P-90,s they sound amazing, Ive got many guitars with humbuckers and I need something with single coils to round out my collection, as usual You have the best demos of almost every guitar Ive bought in the last few years cheers !
I don't even play electric guitar I'm more into classical guitar, but man, I love your videos, your reviews have something so unique and special, you make every guitar feel different, so is interesting to hear your opinions
Nice sounding Guitar Dagan Gretsch always comes through with a great new guitar🏆 i have a older Sparkle jet 89 that still sounds awesome to this day! great demo sir 📽🎼🤘⛓🦇
So very Cool Thankyou. Looks and Sounds Awesome. I have 2 Gretsch Electromatics, a G5215 Solid body Single Cut Single pickup Rock Machine, and a G5248T Chambered Body Double Jet with Bigsby. Both are Amazing guitars with their own personality and sound. Very interested in these P90 models. Thankyou. Cheers
those dirty tones sound so good, both pick ups. Great playing, love the riffing you do. The sound seems a bit tighter and more focused than what, say, a Les Paul type guitar would do with P90's? Great demo mate.
I bought this exact guitar and i love it. The color is just so different from anything on the market, the pickups are great, the tuners need to be upgraded and that's about it, perfect otherwise.
Sweet Axe ... I'm probably going to do some trading guitar for guitar... I've been missing the P90 Sounds in my collection every since I sold my Gibson Les Paul Jr... I think this may be the replacement guitar
Nice demo. I’m an acoustic player thinking of buying JUST ONE electric guitar. I like classic rock, hard rock, the funkiest RHCP era, Nirvana. Could I buy it as my ONLY electric guitar? Just for home playing, alone, I’m not quite good playing.
Very tempting. Recently sold a G5222 for a variety of reasons but it was a well built guitar for the money and would certainly bear one of these in mind but would have to budget for upgrading all the hardware & electronics
Is this a good beginner guitar? Im just starting to learn and I have small hands. Held one and loved it but im hesitating because of the price. Any thoughts?
The neck is not fat, which is good for smaller hands. The few I have played had pretty good fretwork, which is the make-or-break on guitars in this price range. I'd say you would be happy. I'm buying one as soon as I can.

If the Gretsch was made in America, prices would be quite comparable. The resale value is the best indicator of actual value.

Gretsch makes guitars that are comparable to Gibson at every price point. They have $5k custom shop models and Masterbuilt lines for $15k+

Sounds glorious.
It looks and plays glorious too!
I don't even play electric guitar

Love the colour and P90s.
Just bought one ❤ Firestick Red. I love Gretsch and I love the P90’s so I had to have one!
I love P90 and just discovered this Gretch model. It will be here this week for sure! 🤟🏿
I need one.
🤘🤘
it sounds great. watched a few videos on this guitar now and im seriously tempted.
Said no one ever. This guitar blows.

I bought that one!!! the blue is stunning!!!
The Sexy knob is turned ALL the way up! Beautiful guitar
Hmm looking for my first electric.. and now I can't decide between this or one of the classic vibe telecasters..
Both
Best demo of this guitar I’ve seen. What amp or gear are you using for the shredding / hard rock sound?
Really want to get my hands on one of these, but none of the stores have any in stock to have a go of.
The g5230 tg is all broadway jade , including the headstock.
My goodness this thing sounds wild🔥

My wife ordered me the purple one for my birthday. I have to wait a month or 6 weeks for it to be in stock, I’ve been told.
PURPLE? Take my money.... I didn't know they made a purple one.
That guitar is absolutely Mint! 😆

This or Epi Les Paul Special? 😮
This thing looks killer. Love the colors.
I would go the gretsch, I feel their quality control is better
Are the pickups noisy? Is the middle position hum-cancelling? Thanks.
It's on my Zzounds wishlist ❤️

Yeah, love that color “seafoam green”

This came out just after I bought my G5220 drat! I love P90's
I'm not too keen on this particular color, but there's a purple one I'll probably buy if I find it in the wild.

Id buy an HSS Stratocaster if I were you. Its super versatile and you can get the Nirvana/RHCP tones you’re looking for.
Very tempting. Recently sold a G5222 for a variety of reasons but it was a well built guitar for the money and would certainly bear one of these in mind but would have to budget for upgrading all the hardware & electronics
Does anybody know what magnets are in these pickups? Ceramic or alnico?

Are they still just under £500?

You play killer. Would love to have a band with you. You kill.
So freakin phat!!!
Not treb bleed. Treb pass.
As in pass through, not bleed off to ground.
I am a big fan of this feature.
Very different electronics compared to Fender and Gibson. Not to familiar with that volume for each pic up and a master volume
Gibson and Gretsch is like Rolex and Seiko. Or a Mercedes and A Lexus.
Way more value for the money.
I love Gretsch and Gibson
Love that analogy, and I’m a watch guy. With a few Seikos. Maybe the Grand Seiko is a Gretsch Players model? Or an Epiphone Inspired by Gibson.
Torn between one of these and a Revstar p90 as my next work horse. Any thoughts ?
Same here, no idea which one to go for
Get both
I’m in the same boat. Gretsch is winning at this moment.
@@sagutxo82 I got the revstar .. 6 months old for £400. Absolute steal. It’s a fantastic guitar. Cuts through the mix so nice
@@garycartwright4860 yeah, very good price!!
