  • I did it! (well mostly my dad) It took us from December 2020 when I purchased my Tj for $3700, all the way until August 2021. In just 8 months, she is finished with room for upgrades when the time comes. I will be honest I did not calculate the total cost in this project, I just kept working my 2-3 jobs to help go towards my jeep and school. During the build I was borrowing cars to get to and from work since my Grand Cherokee decided to give up the second I bought something new (jealous much). We have done a lot of work on this bad boy? Need a name for it. Anyways here I a list of the work we have done, and I am going to film a jeep tour video sometime next week. Thank you so much for those who have followed along from day one and those that are just joining the journey! I have big plans so stay tuned, hoping to build a camper one day and haul it with the Tj. Won't be doing that until I graduate college in the next year, until then I will have more furniture flip videos and whatever other videos yall would like to see!
-Rebuilt the Transmission (it would not shift into 2nd right or go into reverse)
    -Fixed the frame
-Fixed fender rust spot plus a couple other spots
-Sanded, primed, and painted (Byrd's paint used 3c Pearl White)
    -Changed the brake lines
    -All-new LED lights
    -Painted Fenders
    -Aftermarket Bumpers
    -31' wheels/tires
-Hardtop $700 painted it black with Rustoleum trim and bumper paint
    -New Bedrug Carpet
-Rubber for hardtop, tailgate, and windshield
There is probably more to that list but cannot think of any more at the moment.

Love your Greenery all around you. I live in California, within the Great Mojave Desert. Here we don’t see much rust even on antique vehicles very much. Which is why I choose my 2005 TJ Rubicon I bought a year ago. Good bones as they say! Its been a work in progress. Over $20,000 thus far. I have to hire out any work that needs to be done. Because of Covid, and the fact people still have not come back to work, its been a bear getting parts, and labor.
You all are so fortunate! Thanks!

Boy that tub is in really good shape , for me personally i would have found a nice frame and pulled the tub and driveline and put together a super nice jeep. Because those frame “Fixers” are ya have to remember welded to a rusted frame , and will eventually fail and fall to rust.. but thats just my 2 cents ..

How are all these old TJs so much more "yuck" than the one I just bought?
Granted, I gotta replace every single bouncey snd steering thing, but otherwise, it's like brand new.
Looking at these vids, I'm guessing i got a pretty good deal.

@@hope_hh_hobbies how is it holding up ? I actually just primed & painted the upper bumper trim on my 2010, for what I spent on quality primer & paint, I probably could have just bought a new replacement part. I was being picky as the bumper and other parts were shiny and in perfect condition, but this part chipped and looked like it was previously painted (bad job). I did 3 light coats of primer and 3 coats of bumper paint, and looks great, let’s see how it holds up ;). 2010 Jeep Jk Rubicon 58K miles, also have a 2016 JKU 75th Anniversary Edition 55k miles, in conflict with popular opinion, I like the 3.8 (2010) much better then the 3.6 Pentastar (2016), for which the rear main seal and oil cooler housing have failed already. The 4.0L was the best motor ever, wish it was never discontinued, I had a 1991 too.

It’s really sad to see someone paint something with a can of paint when you can buy a paint sprayer for $100 that would do 10 times better of a job I guess if you put the junk on thick enough you can polish it and wet block sand it
