There is an amazing DLC with a few added hours of gameplay. It takes place during the time Joel is knocked out due to the injury, and gives deep inside into Ellie's past.

Not to mention the fact that the Fireflies were basically a crime sindicate and a terrorist group - much like Hezbollah or Isis in the real world. Even if they'd managed to produce a viable vaccine (which is highly doubtful given their obviously poor facilities and questionable expertise), what would they have done with it after all? Most likely they'd just use it to increase their numbers, and force people to become their slaves in order to get the dose. Sooner or later that dystopian military hunta would have seized the cure - for their own gain of course, clearly not to restore the democracy and lose their power. In that state of the world happy ending is just not an option, no matter what you do.
I see many of you are arguing that Joel was immoral to take Ellie away from the fireflies. But the situation is very similar to the The Trolley Problem. Does Ellie's life not as precious as the others out there? Or the preciousness of human's life is measured by the amount of men?
No the trolley problem doesn't cover the scale of this. In that dilemma I would choose a loved one over several strangers lives, but if it was one loved one versus the entire human race I would absolutely make myself sacrifice the loved one.

However, he does mention "As we've seen in all past cases" and, near the end, he states "All the sacrifices of those men and women or worse, will not be in vain." hinting that there may have been more people like Ellie, and their surgeries went wrong resulting in their deaths. Therefore, this changes the point of view of the epilogue: Joel's statement to Ellie may very well be a lie if the player didn't listen to the recordings while playing the game. Watched all 20 parts I'm happy to see them grow attached to Ellie and Joel. :) sigh. Watching them experience it all reminded me of the way I felt the first time I played this game! Amazing. ... simply, amazing.
They’re not a monster Joel did a very reasonable thing However I can’t whole heartedly say that as the ending is a sort of philosophical paradox where the answer isn’t right or wrong and it all depends on different people’s morals But after the recordings insinuating that there are others who are immune and they still couldn’t find the vaccine Ellie being the only immune person is also very unlikely and so if they couldn’t find the vaccine what says that they’re going to get one from Ellie And even IF they did society has collapsed and they’d have no way to mass produce or distribute it However on the other hand judging by the ending Ellie was ready to die and one could argue it was immoral and could’ve possibly been selfish of Joel to prevent her from death She felt like she had something in Joel but she lost a lot with Riley and I think she was willing to make sure other people don’t loose their lovers And Joel stopped that which again could be considered selfish Ultimately you could ask did Joel do it for him or Ellie and to be honest I don’t think even Joel himself knows that

+Charlie_Anderson If you're gonna make someone go through the David Cage Trilogy, as it's disaffectionately known as, Heavy Rain is by far the best with the fewest problems compared to Indigo Prophecy and Beyond 2 Souls. I honestly think they'd be more likely to play the newer game Until Dawn first (I don't watch this channel consistently to know if they've done so or not). If you're looking for a good playthrough of 3 of them, I would personally suggest TheSw1tcher (or simply type in "Two Best Friends Play" and click on the non-Machinima account of the 2) and watch their first of the 3 LP's, Heavy Rain. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc!!!!!! or Undertale!!!!!!! or Ghost Trick!!! (If you haven't heard of this one, that's because it's one of the most underrated games ever. Why? Well, that's what underrated is)
Those kind of interactive endings, ones that give you just enough information to insert your own conclusions, are always some of my favorites. Now of course there is a sequel coming out that is going to probably resolve a lot of this but I did appreciate the time that they gave to digest the end of this first game. One of the best games I've ever played for sure.
This game is amazing... I've only watched let's plays of it, and it still impacted me deeply. The relationship and the character development make it so powerful.
When Rachel talks about crying, but over only a video game, it shows that there are still a lot of people, young or old, that see video games as merely being good enough to get points or to compete with others, rather than a narrative tool that’s just as strong as it’s other counter parts like movies, music, or books that can move you to tears, laughter, dread, and hope, among other things. It can maybe sometimes do better at conveying such emotion than those other media mentioned. I’m happy that they enjoyed this experience and I wish they realized what an amazing storytelling medium video games are. Can’t wait for their Part II runthrough! 😊

They’re not a monster Joel did a very reasonable thing
However I can’t whole heartedly say that as the ending is a sort of philosophical paradox where the answer isn’t right or wrong and it all depends on different people’s morals
But after the recordings insinuating that there are others who are immune and they still couldn’t find the vaccine
Ellie being the only immune person is also very unlikely and so if they couldn’t find the vaccine what says that they’re going to get one from Ellie
And even IF they did society has collapsed and they’d have no way to mass produce or distribute it
However on the other hand judging by the ending Ellie was ready to die and one could argue it was immoral and could’ve possibly been selfish of Joel to prevent her from death
She felt like she had something in Joel but she lost a lot with Riley and I think she was willing to make sure other people don’t loose their lovers
And Joel stopped that which again could be considered selfish
Ultimately you could ask did Joel do it for him or Ellie and to be honest I don’t think even Joel himself knows that

If you're gonna make someone go through the David Cage Trilogy, as it's disaffectionately known as, Heavy Rain is by far the best with the fewest problems compared to Indigo Prophecy and Beyond 2 Souls.
I honestly think they'd be more likely to play the newer game Until Dawn first (I don't watch this channel consistently to know if they've done so or not).
If you're looking for a good playthrough of 3 of them, I would personally suggest TheSw1tcher (or simply type in "Two Best Friends Play" and click on the non-Machinima account of the 2) and watch their first of the 3 LP's, Heavy Rain. But I understand if you plan on waiting for this channel to hopefully put one up instead.

Those kind of interactive endings, ones that give you just enough information to insert your own conclusions, are always some of my favorites. Now of course there is a sequel coming out that is going to probably resolve a lot of this but I did appreciate the time that they gave to digest the end of this first game. One of the best games I've ever played for sure.

When Rachel talks about crying, but over only a video game, it shows that there are still a lot of people, young or old, that see video games as merely being good enough to get points or to compete with others, rather than a narrative tool that’s just as strong as it’s other counter parts like movies, music, or books that can move you to tears, laughter, dread, and hope, among other things. It can maybe sometimes do better at conveying such emotion than those other media mentioned. I’m happy that they enjoyed this experience and I wish they realized what an amazing storytelling medium video games are. Can’t wait for their Part II runthrough! 😊
