    that concept of 3 levels of bass (with shell as middle) is so helpful!

    Again, great information for Shell Voicings. Glad to give explanation to the many things I hear pianists doing.

    Fascinating! Particularly that last minute or so on how the tapestry of textures works. Thank you, just ordered books 1 and 2.

    I like the roll on the 10th as I use it as a rhythmic device. 👌🏾👌🏾

    Really useful lesson. Thank you!. Your voice in relation to the piano could be louder?

      Thanks for the input - I'm always trying to do better getting the microphone closer to my mouth, so I appreciate the feedback.

    Thanks for another great lesson, Jeremy! I have always found that I instinctively avoid a fifth in a chord voicing on both piano and guitar if it is perfect. However, if the fifth is sharped or flattened, then it is obviously an essential color tone and I include it. Does anyone else feel this way?

    • @zacharyhadley2156
      @zacharyhadley2156 2 года назад

      although I noticed in Autumn Leaves you played a half diminished possibly as a 3rd and a 7th, and no flatted 5th, so I guess all of the above works!

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  2 года назад

      Yes, I don't think the the 5th ever becomes an essential tone, although it is often nice to hear it.

      I agree, I actually keep the b5 and omit the b3 on m7b5 chords.

    Thanks for this lesson, Jeremy. For the purposes of familiarizing yourself with the sounds, I am going to practice this page 36 using my right hand thumb to play the top notes whenever my left hand can’t reach it.
    I don’t see any harm in it, do you agree?

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  11 месяцев назад

      I'd need to see it to tell ya - sorry! In general, shells are played in the left hand, freeing up the right hand to play melodies, so usually I try to keep them in the right hand and divide up the chords if they're too big.
