    Just to be exact:
    Dco is a digitally controlled ANALOG oscillator (it can do pwm too, like in the 106 or the 3p..)
    The envelopes and lfo are digitally generated BUT the whole sound chain is 100% analog (even the chorus)

      The original JX-8p couldn't do PWM without the Vecoven (sp??) mod afaik.

    Thanks for the video. I'm loving this one & I've already re-programmed a bunch of Espen Kraft & Timecop 1983 patches over from the PG-8X VST. It sounds just a hair different from the PG-8X.

      I think with Zenology approach, they are looking for light weight CPU usage (including the interface) + a streamed line look in all the Model Expansion. It's a choice.

    I’m actually interested in the synth model expansions myself, i already own the sdz and exz expansions for zenology and I’m looking forward to expanding my sound collection
    And as far as the legendary synths go, i have no plans to pick up the vst counterparts since the expansions include the original presets plus all expansion sounds included

    The R, M and S controls in the filter section is the filter type. R is for Roland, M is for moog ladder filter and S is the SEM filter from oberheim. These are addons that didn’t exist in the je-8P.

    Great vid! Is the zenology synts SysEx compatible? So lets say I’d like to import some patches I bought for a Jx-8p. Is that possible? Thanks!

    I'd love it if they're planning on making a nice universal midi controller that dynamically changes according to what they synths are, maybe something between system 8 shell and their PGM modules

    A dco is an analog oscilator that only it's pitch is digitally controlled. Th absence of pwm has nothing to do with that, and a dco is a fully analog oscilator.

    Fx chain is so limited on this to one block and that's it. Some are a mixture of both but why Roland limited to one block? And why on earth did you omit a decent reverb and standalone version?

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  4 года назад +1

      I do RTFM but that is my complain: there is no manual for the model expansion and this was not listed in the original manual. Did you find a manual with the info? That would be nice.

      @@Nu-trix Sorry that's why I was joking. You'd think they'd at least have mouse-over tooltips. I have not been impressed with how they've been doing their UI's. They've consistently felt like they're making them in the 90's. I don't mean as in the look of them, but the responsiveness or lack thereof.

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  4 года назад

      No problem, I actually love manuals.... I'm a geek! I find the UI efficient (not WOW) it does the job. I imagine that this will port more easily between MAC Windows, iOS and Android, when they are ready ;-)

    • @Nomo_Popo
      @Nomo_Popo 4 года назад

      @@Nu-trix That's a great idea. I've only fiddled a little bit with their recent Zenology changes, otherwise I only checked it out when it first came out, and many of the synths used up a bunch of cpu just sitting idle. Not optimized! But I have seen the improvements, including their pricing structure which is wayyyyy better. so I am impressed with their progressed and willingness to be more fair and the effort their putting into this. I can tell it's still a labor of love. And I also love manuals. I want to get my moneys worth and know my gear inside and out. It bugs me when some insist on figuring it for themselves like they're a renegade but only know half of what they're doing. Why insist on being ignorant, and like it's virtuous in some way on top of that? Anyway, thanks for the vids and stay safe.
