Johnny Carson’s shows keep me going. In a time in my life when I am extremely lonely and sad , this show keeps me alive. Thank you Johnny. RIP
I never saw this opening before. LOL. Ms. Ross always delivered! Thanks for sharing.
This is the original opening. I'm glad you liked it.
@@RlinksYes. They must have abandoned that particular opening in 1975-1976. It was not used after 1976.
Who is singing background while Ross sings Baby Love...was that Mary Wilson and whoever in the background behind the curtain?
Diana Ross was so great on this show.🎉 She was 31. Shes 79 now.
God Bless her👍
Pat, she dated Gene Simmons from KISS
Yeah...lots of women had that misfortune...@@dtaylor939
& btw...Diana had a 3rd daughter!
She had 2 sons with her last husband Norwegian Arne Naess Jr,
80
@@freddyfurrah3789 And next year, she'll be 81.
Interesting opening--credits on marquee. Thanks for upload--the 70's shows, still an hour and a half, were Johnny's best shows by far.
I never saw this one before. They must not have used it that long.
Diana Ross. Tony Curtis. My goodness, how we took this show...and era....for granted.
We didn't take it for granted we saw it first .no can say that . An nothing has changed just the names.
Staying tuned for the Midnight Special!
Nice to see you watch the whole show
God bless Elaine Stritch - that was not her finest hour.
Amazing to pull off a 90-minute show very night.
The young ones will never know . This shit is still funny 🤣
You gott that dam doll today ,you're rich😅
Diana Ross- kids what she’s doing is singing. You haven’t heard actual talent for a long time. Without auto tune.
get over yourself
Too bad Bert Convey wasn't on this episode. He had a gift of predicting the sex of an unborn baby, and his track-record was nearly perfect. It would've been cool to see him try that with Diana Ross.
If you close your eyes,Diana's speaking voice could be Michael Jacksons at the end of his life
Thankfully Johnny is not the only one who seems to find Elaine Siritch annoying.
Elaine spent too much time in the Green Room. Just a little TIPSY.
Thank you never seen Mahogany performed live.
Johnny is thinking whose show is this yours or mine , Elaine look on his face
I watched this when it first aired. How do I know? Because I remember Dianna singing Baby Love sitting down while pregnant.
i had the great opportunity to meet Diana Ross back around 2001, of all places at a Best Buy store in Poughkeepsie NY , i was working there and at the time one of her children (I believe her son) was going to school at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park NY, and she was their looking for a clock radio for him of all things and everybody knew who she was the minute she walked in the door, because of her hair,, lol,, very nice and soft spoken lady in person i helped her a little bit
Do you pick your feet there?
@@freddyfurrah3789 lol, no but i know what yore referring to
The public enemy photo of Ted Yutz is Tonight Show writer Pat McCormick who has appeared in several sketches with Johnny.
Much later, Elaine Stritch would say she dated Rock Hudson, and if you think about it, it makes perfect sense; I believe her.
Lovely with Johnny complaining about NBC and Di Cordova defending them 😂
Ms Ross
When The Tonight Show was worth staying up and watching the stars come out - not just for Jerry Lewis....
Diana Ross had a HIT song and a BOMB movie ( this happened AGAIN with Endless Love in 1981) To anyone who goes "they don't make good music like that today"- There is an actual logic behind it. Back then the song writers (No, I doubt she wrote this) used 2 things that pull at your heart strings as well as keep the music interesting : CHORD CHANGES and MINOR CHORDS. It's very simple. People like The Carpenters and the Beatles used LOTS of minor chords and chord changes. That's why their music lives on and haunts us. 90% of todays songwriters are clueless. Everything is FLAT and surface level.
According to my research Mahogany made money..a profit so to speak...so how could it have been a bomb? And I do remember people being lined up at midnight to see Mahogany at the movie theatre in our city. Maybe a few critics did not like the movie but that does not make it a bomb.
Peace
Diana Ross❤
Her Baby bump...a daughter....

Stritch is terrible what a bad performance in this episode. Never understood what people saw in this woman as an entertainer.
So, Shatner did Wishbone commercials.
Is it the video, because the faces of Johnny, Diana,Tony, Ed and the last guest look like they're morphing/ shape shifting 🤔🫣👺👹😈😵💫😵🫨🥴
