I actually enjoy the commercials as much as the show 😁. Thanks for posting these.....I can close my eyes & pretend to be a kid laying in bed faking sleep while I'm listening to the show❤️ ... good times
of course, everyone knows Johnny was a chain smoker and ended up dying from emphysema. Weirdly, Shecky smokes during this telecast. Some people have the genes..
According to IMDB, Shecky was back exactly 20 times after this, as soon as December 16, 1975. There could be any number of reasons why he did not appear as much after June 1979. Shecky had some very rough years, but thankfully, he's past all of that and he's still with us.
@@PaulTesta Yes, still an amazing life span, especially for someone who battled alcoholism. I saw him just last weekend on a LOVE BOAT rerun from Christmas 1977.
Shecky was a gifted comic but - he went deaf when Johnny was trying to make a point about being uncomfortable at parties because he wasn’t in control. He was trying to reveal some deeply personal stuff but Shecky dismissed it. No wonder he was never invited back. RIP
Hey, how come they never asked Clayton Moore who was the Lone Ranger, and also Jay Silverheels who was his Indian Friend. His name is escaping me it this moment, and I apologize for that. It's not Kemosabe either, cuz that is supposed to mean Friend.
Play because your dad want me to see where their house was I probably leave it that house on the lake or Leslie down on the shelf Tara gone with the wind in Terrell
Siri is in daddy where to stay in hotel old is Lil daddy took us to go eat lunch on Saturdays like every couple weeks or so and sometimes we spend the night overnight in the hotel room I thought it was because I wanna go to michelle’s house
RIP Shecky Green. This was when The Tonight Show was 90 minutes long. Amazing amount of work every day
Younger generations will never see true talent like Johnny in their lives.
You don't know that
They will if they look him up or stumble across him on YT.
I'm a younger generation that sees true talent like Johnny.
Best year of my life. I turned 13 and could stay up and watch Johnnie and SNL
These never get old!
They actually get better as time goes along.

@@freddyfurrah3789 Cool detraction, bro.

Rest in peace, Shecky.
Shecky Greene still kicking at 95.
No way...
So is Carsons band leader Doc Severinsen. 94 and still on stage
yep, hes 96 now. Still above ground. Johnny gone now almost two decades. They were only a year apart.
of course, everyone knows Johnny was a chain smoker and ended up dying from emphysema. Weirdly, Shecky smokes during this telecast. Some people have the genes..
loved shecky
I had no idea Shekky could sing like this!! Great!!
I thought Shecky Green died a LONG time ago.
I was born on this day in 1975.
Ok
Hmm, alrighty then lol
Happy Birthday!
It's the first time I heard Carson acknowledge his drinking problem.
Thank you for leaving the commercials in - I love those!
Carson is so good
Wow! So Johnny had quit drinking at this point. Didn't know that. Of course, headlines would indicate otherwise by the '80s.
A naughty little bit there "If you flick your bic you'd better have a lighter". Woo!
Yeah, "Flick my Bic" delivered in a saucy tone.
I remember that.
Wow, Johnny’s in a mood in this one!
Doc Severinsen just turned 96!
4:45 ABC was just a couple months from suddenly going #3 to #1.
This was Johnny at the top of his game!
Right, in the 1970s with these 90 minute shows he was such a strong host.
talent abounds
Ronny (correct spelling) Graham: funny act! Trivia: he was the stagehand with the clapboard in the "Spicy meatballs" Alka-Seltzer commercial.
Stockard Channing looks a bit like Elizabeth Taylor.

I agree, I have always thought that
I always thought Stockard Channing quite attractive.
Yes, I agree. And check out when Taylor's on the Tonight Show--it's here on RUclips--the resemblance is even more evident.
I sense this is part of the reason why Shecky Greene wasn't invited back, because they had a hard time conversing.
I didn’t get the sense it was difficult for them to converse. I didn’t see anything that would suggest that. He was never invited back?
I’m not sure where you got that from, h e appeared 40 times on the Tonight Show.

all around talent
Yeah, when I saw the fixed slide during the band's playing break, 'oh yeah...this is TELEVISION...hmmm, so much has happened since '75.
“There once was a lady named Hall…”
HIYOOOOO!
21:43 Shecky Greene is still with us at age 96.
Not anymore. He died today @ age 97.

How ironic! I recently looked him up and watched a stand up act he did back in the '60's.
21:32 Wonderful bumper music.

Shecky passed away 12/30/23 at age 97.
Woops. Make that early morning of 12/31/23!!
woah Shecky Greene is stil alive at 97 !!!
He died today.
I’m thinking singing “come out, come out” with two girls, one on her knees, was a poorly thought decision 🤔
👆
Yes, kneepads would have been more appropriate...
Shecky Greene was never a hit on TV because he always played it as if he was in a nightclub...looking up to the balcony...walking & looking around.
RIP, Shecky.
That's Mayor Beam he's referencing.
I Remember the Racehorse named after Shecky Greene in the Triple Crown Race.

The Makeup person put too much Eye Shadow on Gene Kelly tonight.
I've never seen Johnny busting out some dance moves like that before. I know he's played drums.
Yes, he was a decent drummer. His friend Buddy Rich gave him a drum kit.

Shecky was more talented and funnier than Rickles but didn't kiss up to Sinatra and Carson like Don .
