I appreciate the technique tips from someone so good, but I would love to have seen a visual/video of someone performing it simultaneously so I could better picture some of the points she mentioned. I think I understand, but some comparative video would have allowed me to confirm my understanding :)
I have watched tons of RUclips videos on this stroke and read a lot of reddit comments. This is the most explanatory and concise content on this stroke I've seen yet.
Hello! 😃 Japanese 60s Male. Thank you for the brief and easy-to-understand explanation. I am an amateur swimmer. I sympathized almost the same as the point I usually remembered and swam.
Try just putting your hand in a triangle out in front of you and swimming with your legs. Then do the same thing with the closing your legs frog thing to swim.
I need a lot of help with my technique and didn’t find this video very helpful. Probably more beneficial for those further along with the stroke, but not very helpful to me. More slow motion capture under water and drills to break down the entire stroke would have been more helpful.
same i do wild swimming I don't do it for speed and I just stay with my head above the water I've not had any training and ny knee is starting to click and other ppl are faster than me even though I feel like I'm doing a lot of work so my technique must be totally wrong, i wpild prefer to see these shots in slow motion would have helped more!
@@jennybegs stay with it. I’ve progressed since that post. One of the lifeguards at the fitness center where I swim gave me good feedback with the hand stroke which I used to do TOTALLY incorrect 😑🤦🏽♂️. It has made a huge difference where I can get a decent bob out of the water. He also observed my kick and told me to keep the knees straight to the bottom of the pool (I tended to turn my knees outward, taking away some of the force from the hamstrings). Now...I’m trying to do a better job of turning my feet 🦶 outward before the kick before pointing them back afterwards. If you can get somebody to observe or film what you’re doing it makes a world of difference. In addition, look at other videos. There are some that break down the stroke better than this one. Just don’t give up.
Iv been doing the breastroke since i was 11 years old im 67 now still doing it i think the breathing in it as well as correcd stroke is very important.
Ok, so legs come underneath, not out to the side. Arms start to pull once legs are straight. Arms not too wide and push water to the back, before resetting and legs go again! A lot to remember, but will try next time I'm in the pool! 👍
I am recovering from a lower back hernia, and will give swimming a try, this stroke to me feels the most natural way of swimming so I will give this a try. Any other strokes that are good for lower back activation/strengthening?
Hello there, backstroke it is. For entire back. Or maybe even sidestroke. I trained competitive swimming for years, backstroke is the bast for all kind of back trouble, while working even your butt, chest and legs.
I've just started learning to breaststroke but I can't grasp the kick motion, which part of the foot propells is it the sole of the foot of instep,i can feel the resistance against my hand movement but i can't feel it against my feet.
That was great. Please please could you explain to me how you/proper breast strokers get your upper body so fat out of the water? Is that arm/shoulder strength or a technique thing? Also please could you explain what part of your head touches the water first? I watch other swimmers in the pool and it almost looks like they ‘dip’ their heads and touch the water first with their foreheads. Is this what I’m meant to be doing? Sorry one last thing-I know there is 8x more drag in water than air but is their more or less if you are completely submerged or break g the surface of the water (as you glide for example) Thanks so much. Breast stroke done well looks amaaaaazing. I want that!
Thanks for the video!💕 I have a question, why does my head keep floating when swimming on this stroke, difficult to submerge and it makes me tired afterwards?
I am a little confused on the arm movements for the breaststroke. Is there a catch and pull back of the water with high elbows or not? I was told that the arms in the breast stroke squeeze the water down to elevate the body as much as possible so you can glide and push with your feet as effectively as possible with hardly any drag! What an amazing stroke! I would use the dauphin kick when breast stroking if it was up to me. 😁😁😁! I will keep working on the breaststroke as my butterfly stroke keep improving as I improve on my breast stroke! How weird is that?
I float well while swimming Fly, Back and Free, but my legs sink whenever doing Breaststroke even though I keep a good head position. Do you have any advice for me?
went swimming yesterday and literally forgot how to swim properly, i was kicking and moving my arms together then wondering why a 70 year old man was lapping me😂 this is so helpful thankyou, i feel so much more confident going swimming today knowing i might do a length of the pool in quicker than in a minute😂
how do i get timing. when i star trying to swim i do the kick first when glide a bit. then do the pull get breath. but by the time i get ready for the kick my whole body has sunk about 2 feet and im at 60 degree angle. so i cant kick properly again im a novice swimmer. had about 8 hrs of lessons can do a length back stroke and 3 lengths free style. cant do breast stroke at all
This really needs someone else in the water demonstrating the instructions. Can’t visualise verbal directions easily, which is unfortunate because it’s excellent guidance.

Moocow P ,good suggestion
Please watch the videos by pro swim and made by Speedo. They demonstrate the strokes in slow mo
Agree!

I am having a swim lesson today to work on this same technique and I think it will be really helpful! Thank you!
I‘m here because I havn’t swim for month due to quarantine and I nearly forgot how
Mee two

I went the first 15 years or so of my life thinking it was called "Breathstroke"
I called it Froggy Style before this...
I just figured this out

Yeah! Thanks. One of the best video I found for catching water. Expert breaststroke since 45 years... ;-)
thank you so much for your positive feedback
I’m here because my mom made me watch this
My dad made me because i have a swimming carnival coming up
Lmaooo I’m doing it cause I want to get on this swim team I tried out for .
Lol
Same help ;-;
🤣🤣🤣
I really appreciate this! Thank you so much I’m working on breaststroke and this will help a lot.
See this too ruclips.net/video/nx-MpT6wLOE/видео.html
I have difficulty with the legs. My legs flail all over the place 😅
Me too
Mine either flail all over the place, or don’t move at all 😂
Try just putting your hand in a triangle out in front of you and swimming with your legs. Then do the same thing with the closing your legs frog thing to swim.
You could perhaps try using a kickboard to focus on the legs.
Having my competition next week! Thx for this
I’m a swim instructor and I don’t know how to swim so you are for sure going to come in handy

@@albertseanchen7929 I thought the breaststroke was the dolphin kick 💀
@@carlivasquez6840 I’ve seen swimmers do a glide through the water incorporating a dolphin kick while performing it.
Thanks for the proper technique, I am an instructor and I wanna be able to teach my students properly
Good stuffs. I was able to improve my techniques and swimming effortlessly for 2 KM today. Thanks for the video.
Very helpful and I just confirmed that my current technique is terrible. Oh well; that's why I was seeking help. Thanks.

This was very clear, thank you!
Awesome! Do you recommend firing the kick only once your arms are back out in front?
Great advice, Thanks

Im going to ibiza in 10 weeks and start swimming practice solihull tomorrow.
Its so i dont drown in the ibiza blue sea.
good idea, we can't stress enough the importance of being able to swim
Pull, breathe, kick + glide ?

Thanks for the video!💕 I have a question, why does my head keep floating when swimming on this stroke, difficult to submerge and it makes me tired afterwards?
Annie Andriany it has to do something with your breathing. The more you exhale the more you descend vice versa,

Because we want to breathing
cuz ur an airhead.LMAO.idk tho
