- A bottle of nerve manna, a disappearing golf ball and some rocks . . . it all adds up to the Hardly Boys' toughest case yet. The Hardly Boys have returned to Rangeley Lake for another relaxing summer at the Hardly Inn. Fishing, boating, tennis and their friend Chip Mason await them, but the boys soon find themselves enmeshed in a perplexing mystery that puts to the test their sleuthing skills and secret dog powers. What are the Nurse and the Caretaker up to?! And what happened to Gladiola Mason? She invited hem to lunch and now she's disappeared!
The Hardly Boys in Hardly Gold was filmed in 35mm. It has been screened at film festivals around the world and was selected for the 1996 Sundance Film Festival.

I just pulled "Puppies" from my shelf...had not looked at it in some time. For some reason I read the liner notes and saw reference to this film I had not noted before! I had no idea it existed! Thank you!!!

William, I absolutely loved seeing your work in photography classes in college. But these Hardly Boys films are my absolute favorites. So glad you posted them up here!
I was age 10 when this came out 27 years later it’s still great.
Still funny!! Near the end when the golf ball hits one of them on the head and he passes out is hilarious!! My husbands favorite part is the “no docking! No no no!” 🤣😂
I'm so glad Dog Nightmares exists. I totally forgot about Wegmans works before I watched the series.

The photography is wonderful and the Hardlys amazing . The storyline draws you in and smoothly moves along . Even the music is in tone with the action. When in Maine remember " the cry of the loon is no laughing matter" ! A sign posted in Maine,
to spread awareness of the plight of The Loon.
I watched this when I was little, but I couldn't read. So I didn't know what it was called. I searched the Internet so much but could never find it. But years later I was watching dogs 101 when they started talking about Weimarimers, then they mentioned wegman. I looked him up on RUclips and found this. I watched it and once again saw the boat scene, the one where the dog is like, "private property". That is the one scene I remember.

This was one of the artists that we covered in my art class in college. Very funny video, and great artistic talent of putting this together.

Steven Browne, what happened to Gladiola Mason the main tetartagonist? She sure is a damsel in distress.
Steven Browne, in The Hardly Boys In Hardly Gold, the Hardly Boys are both heroics, the leads and good athletes except Batty Hardly is the nature-loving heroine, croquet player and main protagonist and her little sister Crooky Hardly is the tennis player and main deuteragonist. The main tritagonist is their friend Chip Mason.
wegmanworld, Chip Mason is one of the two main tritagonists alongside his aunt Gladiola of The Hardly Boys In Hardly Gold. He works every day except Fridays and is the Hardly Boys’s friend who invite the Hardly Boys to their clubhouse and brings their favorite movie so the protagonist Batty, deuteragonist Crooky and tritagonist Chip watch together. He, Batty and Crooky are out at lunch with Miss Mason at Sunset Point (off-screen).

wegmanworld, the Psychotic Nurse is the main antagonist and villain of The Hardly Boys In Hardly Gold. She always gives the Caretaker orders. Near the end of the movie, she is knocked in the water when the canoe hits the sludge as the Hardly Boys close the vowel, saving the town and defeating her. She is voiced by Andrea Beeman.

wegmanworld, Fenwick Hardly is the Hardly Boys’s father and one of the two main tetartagonists alongside his wife Laurel in The Hardly Boys In Hardly Gold. He enjoys finishing especially whenever he says “10’o’clock, 2’o’clock”. The movie ends the next day with him reeling his fishing line at the nurse’s wig which was left after she died and was defeated while the Hardly Boys and Chip Mason are out with Gladiola Mason at the Sunset Point restaurant for lunch.
Very entertaining.

He is then hit by a golf ball and knocked down in the climax of the movie and is arrested by the police (off-screen) and jailed for life (off-screen).

She enjoys playing golf, and near the end of the movie, while her husband has called the police on the Caretaker, she swings her golf ball at the Caretaker who is trying to fix his truck and he is knocked down by the golf ball and later arrested by the police (off-screen) and jailed (off-screen).

wegmanworld, Crooky Hardly is Batty’s younger sister, a tennis player and the main deuteragonist of The Hardly Boys In Hardly Gold. She loves tennis and has a good forehand. She is sometimes a damsel in distress and insults the psychotic nurse as the “ugliest nurse ever” when the psychotic nurse kidnaps and leads her away leaving Batty behind and when she and Gladiola are tied up to the comfy chair in the front of the old geologist’s cabin shack and begging for help, Batty comes to their rescue and unties them both. Later, the Hardly Boys run to the vowel, close it and save their day and the town.

She finds a shack where she finds her sister and Gladiola Mason tied up, goes in and unties them and Hardly Boys rush to be the vowel, close it and save the town and the day.
