I didn't know it was shown on Saturday mornings, was that across the pond? I remember growing up in Long Island NY in the 1970's and this series was on Sunday evenings on ABC-TV (channel 7) from '77 to '79.
Gota be in the late seventys & before Ricky died in that plane crash, of course, I can't remember when that happened, maybe it was in the early 80's.? The guys had long hair, so it cldn't be much later than the early 80's, cuz, it was before I retired in 86. I guess.?????? Who knows.? The Shadow knows.!! ha,ha,ha,🤣🤣🤣🤪
You're not the only one. When I found out my younger self was cheated out of 5 chapters of each Nancy Drew when they updated to the yellow covers, I bought the originals from the 30s and 40s and read those. I may be in my 30s, but they're still entertaining! I liken them to an episode of a TV mystery. Light and entertaining, good clean fun.
I really like the opening sequence, the labyrinth and music is wonderful. I watched this as a kid and loved it. Always partial to Parker Stevenson myself, probably because Shaun Cassidy was everyone else's pick among my peers. I'm just contrary, I guess. I really like Pamela Sue Martin as Nancy Drew, they changed actresses later and I could never really enjoy Nancy Drew after that. Thank goodness the Hardy Boys stayed the same.
I love the theme music 🎶 to this. As a kid I would watch this show and at night sneak out with friends to do whatever. . . The music always running in my head made it so much fun, whatever we did.
I just ordered the first and second book of the Hardy Boys and Season 1 of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. Got to have something wholesome and decent to watch during this lockdown.
I like the hardy boys because I've always liked the 70's and I've liked Shaun's music my favorites of his music are Hey Deannie, That's rock n roll and Do You believe in Magic and Hard Love.
"On December 31, 1985, [Ricky] Nelson died when the Douglas DC-3 on which he was a passenger crashed into trees, poles, and electrical wires, when it attempted to make an emergency landing while in flight between Guntersville, Alabama and Dallas, where he was to perform a New Year's Eve concert." - Source: Wikipedia
It is freaky that Ricky Nelson played this part and he himself died in a plane accident - the cabin of the plane caught fire and everyone died of smoke inhalation, the plane crashed shortly after everyone died.
Actually the pilot and co-pilot lived. They had to open the window to clear the smoke from their vision. That caused the fire to get worse but they were able to survive.
Before I got older and spent my time reading and studying non fiction and history, I read these series as well as the Boxcar Children. Was disappointed when this series came out because I was just a kid and was telling friends what it was about and it was all written for the times and not the 40's..
I met Ricky Nelson between the two concerts in which he performed at Lewiston, Idaho just a few short months before he died. This episode was eerie for me.
@flyguga Thanks! I like thats they're in 1 part a lot also ! there are indeed a lot better quality, since you're (along with "nacyhardy" the only one uploading any real hardy boys episodes I'm happy with anything I get. especially when I can't watch them myself on tv (not living in the U.S.) but I'm especially thankful for the better quality (since this is not the first ime I've watched this episode :-D )
So do I - I loved them as a teenager- especially the "hung" endings at the end of each chapter! Although re -reading them as an adult always makes me wonder how Chet never went "postal" after one "fat/chubby/food" joke too many??
I came here from South Park... But I just realized one of the "boy" is the actor playing Gene in the movie "A Separate Peace" which is ironic because I'm reading the book right now.
@flyguga Fly, by ANY chance, do you have more of Season Three, other than "Last Kiss of Summer"? The only other episode of that season that I ever saw was "Defection to Paradise"; I'd like to see the episodes I missed, back when.
I'm so nostalgic. Love the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. Now at 69, all these actors are near my age and older. Ahhh
Ricky Nelson! 😍 And the 2 boys I grew up with... My fave series!
Brilliant, I grew up watching this every Saturday morning never settling who I fancied more LOL. WHAT A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

I love the shows of the Hardy Boys !💝💝💯💯👍👍👍💯
We're probably never too old for this stuff because some of it can help us, not only in legal mysteries, but some life's mysteries too.
That opening theme always sent shivers up & down my spine when I was a pre-teen girl, in
l-o-o-o-o-v-e with Shaun Cassidy!
bleh! ha ha!
Same :)
These are the Hardy's I grew up with. I love the books so watched this with avid interest. The boys never aged though. Frank was 18 whilst Joe was 17
I still try to sneak and get these books at the library from the kids section. I know im to old..but I love them.
You're never too old for them.
They are clean reads. I'm in my 30s and I get them .
@@madelinebryant9851 The best book series ever written.

Even when they fight, go under water, you name it- the hair stays perfect!
Thanks for posting! Loved seeing them pal around with Rick Nelson!
Love these guys. Nancy Drew was also good.
Frank and Joe great on screen brotherly love !
It was very common in the 70s for brothers to solve mysteries and get in adventures ,while living at home with there parents.
The Vortex Of Doom
THEIR parents, not THERE.
I wish I had a brother to do that
@thevortexofdoom funny
@@Switzer1234 at least they learned language and grammar.
RIP Rick Nelson.
I love how when their flying upside-down, the hair stays put! Must of been the Aqua-Net!😂😅
I still find Shaun Cassidy so attractive. My 12 year old self is reliving my first crush watching these old episodes.
Same here, he and Parker Stevenson were my crush in Jr. High, still love them!
You are pretty too.
If only i could back to my childhood.
Thank you so much!!! I love the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew.

Ricky Nelson himself guest starred in this episode no way wow!
These were a great Sunday night diversion…👍🏻
Great rick nelson underrated singer
Huge fan my teen idol was Shawn Cassidy. Love him to do this day.
dthoneybear he’s out touring with a band, singing and telling stories now. Saw him last year. Really good.
Frank was channeling his inner MacGyver.
Ricky Nelson’s coat at the end was priceless.😳
I love the hardy boys and Nancy drew still have all the books!!!!
The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew love you.
I wish I had kept mine.
Thank you!! I LOVE these episodes!!! Much appreciated! :)
Had to see this after watching South Park. Being British meant I missed out on gems like this in my childhood.
I just ordered the first and second book of the Hardy Boys and Season 1 of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. Got to have something wholesome and decent to watch during this lockdown.

It's rather sad seeing Rick and his band knowing that they were going to die In an airplane fire. I love this series!
Were any of these guy his actual band?
@@TheAnitam3 I am pretty sure that the band members were the real deal, but of course, the guy playing his manager was an actor.
@@cindysplace Thanks Cindy. The steel guitarist was actually a big deal in that line. Love the internet most of the time.

I lived in Lancaster, Pa. when Nelson didn't show up for a concert. The protest was a brutal character assassination.
This is so cool I love the hardy boys
i uesd to watch this while i wasnt doing my homework,
I am fifty and still enjoying these books I have 102 of them in hardback
I still read them and I'm 60!
Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 Poindexter 🎉
@PeterBrown-mz4nv I'm 4 and I taught Rick how to play 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 pfffft hmmmmph Poindexter
What's totally morbid about this episode is that Ricky Nelson died in a plane crash not too long after this was filmed...sad...
As I heard it he didn't like flying, for long time . And he owned the house that Errol Flynn once owned.
Over the years, I have thought about that many times.
Rip,Rick,nelson
What I was thinking.
And what about Mr 'Time in a bottle' Jim Croce..
At 7:21, there is no way the boys are not wearing sunglasses while flying above the clouds. The sunshine is too bright.
How ironic that Ricky Nelson died when his music tour plane crash landed.
The Hardy Boys! 😍😍😍😍
I love hardy boys
i watched this show as a kid for the odvous reason .
The Hardy boys was on every Sunday evenings cause I am a diehard Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson fan
Jus love their mysteries😍😍😍😎
Wow, I haven't seen this TV series since it first aired way back then. 😳
Ricky Nelson was a great looking man. So sad to lose him so young 😢

Wow my favorite TV show growing up.
John Pleshette turned out be a pretty sleazy character on Knot's Landing also.

Will never forget that New Year's eve came on tv as a bulletin. Very somber midnight.

The Hardy Boys plane looked like it had retractable landing gear. But they are flying around with the wheels down.

"I've got more coverage than the trade centre" - yikesss
The third and final season of the Hardy Boys will be released on Feb. 12, 2013 thru Shout Factory if the date doesn't changed.
Oh, they've released them. I've had the first two seasons on disc for a good many years.
Exactly what I said when I bought the first season in the middle of the last decade.
Good memories of days gone by
Used to read a lot of the Hardy boys mysteries but never saw the TV series
Great show.... I read every hardy boy book there was.
Edit. My favorite book was the yellow feather mystery

By golly, this is downright sad. Too real life ominous. Never a fan, but tragic for all of them.
This guy never declared an emergency or said mayday or even pan pan pan. Nobody behaved professionally.
OH AWHH I GOT A TOTAL CLUE!

Too bad a couple of real-life "Hardy Boys" couldn't have saved the real Rick Nelson from his plane crash in late 1985!
