It's a fantastic movie. I like the bit about when he's wild camping and asks his dog whether he fancies having a 'proper' roof over one's head or not, then looks up at the stars lit sky, and remarks 'Of course, this isn't such a bad roof either'.
Kudos to all the people that had a hand in making this awesome movie possible. Fantastic beyond fantastic. If only movies today were like this none of the worlds problems would exist. It makes me want to be a fantastic person and a hero to the underdog.
Watching this magnificent movie. It makes me understand that I was born in the wrong century. My Great Grandfathers ancestors were Ojibwa in the Chippewa tribe or clan. My mother was born a 7th generation Chippewa. And even as a young child I knew I was different. When we played cowboys and Indians. I always choose to be the Indian. And cheered them on in the one sided western movies. And had my heart broken with anger! In my older years. When I learned there history For what our Government has greedily perpetrated against them. I know that this movie is a possibility that some great mind concocted. But what if it could have really been a possibility. A possibility. I can only dream of. Peace to all.
It is brutally heartbreaking what the white man, in his ignorance and greed, did to the peoples who populated this land. Dreaming of a better world is all that is left to the people who lived here for so many generations and the invader alike. Our hearts bleed for the damage we have done to this land. Peace to all in the end is the greatest wish one can have for others.
One of the best films with Tom Berenger. I grew up with the Sioux in South Dakota and love The People and their customs. Great movie. I will see it probably many more times. 1:14:52 I had a horse fall and roll over me when I was about 19 years old....that does HURT! I just got my mare up and rode the 8-9 miles to the ranch. Couldn't do that now.
This is what used be called a "lost race" story. Novels and pulp magazines of the teens, twenties, thirties and forties were full of these kind of stories. The old Tarzan novels and movies used this idea often, but it is rarely seen in any modern film like this.
I can't believe this was panned by some critics, it's an excellent movie! In fact I think they should have made a few more Louis Gates adventure films, like Tom Selleck's Jessie Stone series. Tom Berenger played the character to a tee!
I can't ever get enough of this movie, have watched it so many times,,,, Excellent and Funny, But the depth of truth to it in today's times. Love It, Always
Have this movie on VHS tape and watched many times. Always enjoyed it, great actors ( adore the bump in Barbara's nose). But, Zip is the real star of this movie!
Commenting because I’ve seen it twice over the years and know I’ll be back one day to make it 3. Charmed by all the performances and the story line. So very worth your time.
This is therapy for me, since I'm an expatriate living in the Caribbean, & generally fed up with life down here. This film motivates me to plan staying Stateside somewhere, on my next trip. I want my bones to rest in peace when I die.
Great film. I'd never heard of it, but it's a wonderful and well written story, good acting, and perhaps a lesson to us all that life goes on, but not as we expect.
This is the second time I’ve watched this film. It is even more impactful the second go round. Great respect to all who created this film and the story behind it. Well done.
I was going to start: It was as GREAT as I remembered this movie, having seen it several times! I was partially right/partially wrong! It was Far Better/GREATER than I remembered it! Just proved to me: There were still Great Westerns to be made/seen in the 90's! Thank You, J
I've watched this movie so many times. Just love it. The mystery of this story is incredible, makes us wish we could find them out there like that but then again they're better off without our involvement.
I'd never seen this movie before. Its beautifully done. Very interesting, have heard of the dogmen but this is first time seeing about them in a movie. Thank you 💛 for the education and excellence.
Never saw his movie before with Tom Berenger. Really liked the storyline and scenery. My first time seeing Tom Berenger was in the movie Platoon, good character actor. My wife is part Cherokee and I’ll have her see it with me.
I've seen that movie before but we'll worth watching again. It's up there with the top ten. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing it with us and keep them coming. We'll done.
Third time watching this and it always reaching me deep down and brings up my Cherokee ancestors, and wish for a time like this for all humanity to return totheGood Way and walk the Good Path
I had an Australian Cattle Dog AKA Queensland Heelers that looked just like Zip. She was a female a little bit smaller but every bit as smart they are amazing dogs. They require a lot of time and energy so if you don't have that or a big Ranch for them to work on then don't get one but they're excellent with your family. They're also excellent Watch Dogs of course they do their job moving cattle and sheep which is what they were bred for and they are truly amazing. When I watch this movie I miss Nikki very much
I have never seen this movie, I don't know how I haven't. Just incredible acting, scenery. It has everything and I 'm crying when his dog runs up to him at,the ending.
Such a great movie! Watched it several times and it never gets old! People ask me why, I tell them it is a Feel Good Movie! Just turned 80 last fall and spent 60 years packing into Wilderness Areas, loving every minute of it and miss it terribly! My hunting albums are all I have left and I'm in them every now and then! Hope to see more of these I the future!
This is a great movie. All sorts of goodness to this. Great cast, story and script, music, the scenery and the hidden area the Indians were living undisturbed for so long. It's starts out making you expect a crime thriller, but once the 3 bad guys are taken out up front, it becomes a detective mystery, and then turned into a situation like in Dances With Wolves. What a nicely done set of twists and turns. Light on the violence and it has a happy ending.
Beautiful movie! I Never saw Berenger in this one. Saw one w/ him a few weeks ago made recently not a military but a good story as this one. Very touching, Having some Indian blood in the family tree makes this movie special. To only imagine even

Dreaming of a better world is all that is left to the people who lived here for so many generations and the invader alike. Our hearts bleed for the damage we have done to this land. Peace to all in the end is the greatest wish one can have for others.
@@jeffreysokal7264 its even more brutal what they did to that sweet red ass!
@@leoross5777 classy remark right there Leo boi
Blessings to all your relations.
at least me, anyway. the boys look pretty smashworthy with that long hair . face down ass up , you couldnt tell.
Good movie... One of rhe best performances of Tom berenger
I can't believe this was panned by some critics, it's an excellent movie! In fact I think they should have made a few more Louis Gates adventure films, like Tom Selleck's Jessie Stone series. Tom Berenger played the character to a tee!
A very underrated film, definitely one of my favourite westerns. The scenery is so spectacular. I love the theme music too.
How is this a western?
I can't ever get enough of this movie, have watched it so many times,,,, Excellent and Funny, But the depth of truth to it in today's times. Love It, Always
Have this movie on VHS tape and watched many times. Always enjoyed it, great actors ( adore the bump in Barbara's nose). But, Zip is the real star of this movie!
This must be one of films understated masterpieces amazing scenery great story ❤
:)
One of my favorite films of the 90’s. It never gets old to me.
I am 58 years old. I wish they'd made more movies like it. That's the best movie I've ever seen.
What a dog!!! Zip was awesome 🤔👌👍🍀😉❤️☕️
Commenting because I’ve seen it twice over the years and know I’ll be back one day to make it 3. Charmed by all the performances and the story line. So very worth your time.
One of the best movies ever. ❤
This is therapy for me, since I'm an expatriate living in the Caribbean, & generally fed up with life down here. This film motivates me to plan staying Stateside somewhere, on my next trip. I want my bones to rest in peace when I die.
A great, great romantic movie, that reminds me younger days when we still believed that Good always prevailed
Love Tom Beringer. One of my favorites.
Great film. I'd never heard of it, but it's a wonderful and well written story, good acting, and perhaps a lesson to us all that life goes on, but not as we expect.
They cut out all the narration.
Wilford Brimley narrated this movie, and it’s only half as good without him.
Best dog ever in any movie
Dog in Big Jake
This is one of my favorite movies. I've watched it over and over...thank you so much for posting it!
I LOVE THIS MOVE. I lost track of how many times I’ve watched this movie. Tom, Berenger and Barbara Hershey were perfect this movie.
This is the second time I’ve watched this film. It is even more impactful the second go round. Great respect to all who created this film and the story behind it. Well done.
Right up there with Dances with Wolves, a true classic.
Ditto
this spectacular scene just accelerates my Aztec soul in my heart...river honor running thru every vain . We still exist
A classic that blew me away when it came out..
I was going to start: It was as GREAT as I remembered this movie, having seen it several times! I was partially right/partially wrong! It was Far Better/GREATER than I remembered it! Just proved to me: There were still Great Westerns to be made/seen in the 90's! Thank You, J
What a well trained dog!!
It was well worth it!! And so worth watching!❤
They just don't make movies like this anymore, Great Movie Loved it
I've watched this movie so many times. Just love it. The mystery of this story is incredible, makes us wish we could find them out there like that but then again they're better off without our involvement.
Your correct, we’d just screw it up !
What a beautiful film.
I never get tired of watching it over and over such a wonderful movie
all time favorite. Thank you for streaming this beautiful film.
I'd never seen this movie before. Its beautifully done. Very interesting, have heard of the dogmen but this is first time seeing about them in a movie. Thank you 💛 for the education and excellence.
One of the best movies I have ever watched. Thanks for uploading. Great ending. I will definately be following your channel. Blessed love.🙏🏼
I watch this movie time and again. The tears begin to flow almost from the very start!
I too have Cherokee ancestors on both sides of my immediate family 👪
I had an Australian Cattle Dog AKA Queensland Heelers that looked just like Zip. She was a female a little bit smaller but every bit as smart they are amazing dogs. They require a lot of time and energy so if you don't have that or a big Ranch for them to work on then don't get one but they're excellent with your family. They're also excellent Watch Dogs of course they do their job moving cattle and sheep which is what they were bred for and they are truly amazing. When I watch this movie I miss Nikki very much
Why is the dogs tail docked
So he can run through the bush without getting thorns in it...
This is the best movie ever. This beats any cowboy movie. Great heart wrenching but adventurous story. So recommend for all to watch.
It's not a cowboy movie.😅
Oh wow what an awesome little gem this was 👍👍
Beautiful setting & great cast 🫶
I have never seen this movie, I don't know how I haven't. Just incredible acting, scenery. It has everything and I 'm crying when his dog runs up to him at,the ending.
thanks foor spoiling the plot
Oh man I just read the comment and it's at the end of the movie I should quit reading the comments during the movies there's always one that ruins it
That is not surprising for a dog. In life, the ONLY trustworthy creation is your dog. Mine are waiting at "Rainbow Bridge" for me when I get there.
I felt the same way at the end of the movie it was very touching very nice sending his dog was very happy to see him he made me cry a little too honey
I am watching it AGAIN all curled up on the couch . I'VE lost count of the times . IT'S my go to movie to watch to make me feel happy .
A haunting movie which has all the right qualities. Well acted, written and taking on a cult status as years go by.
Lol..Idk where u been, but this has long been a fairly well know movie with a cult status
@@mattjack3983 Where have I been? Watching the movie over the last 28 years.
@@mattjack3983 Too bad you are lazy with your crappy grammar.
@@lorimcquinn3966 me too😊
This is a great movie.
Thanks I can't find this movie any where but here, and I love a good movie that means so much to me.
Thank you for posting, they don’t make great movies like these anymore.
One of my all time favorite movies.
Well...that dog is truly amazing!!!
This was a fantastic movie. The scenery, the chemistry between the characters, and the message touched my heart.
Thanks a ton for putting the movie. Thoroughly enjoyed it. God bless.
Beautiful movie! I Never saw Berenger in this one. Saw one w/ him a few weeks ago made recently not a military but a good story as this one. Very touching, Having some Indian blood in the family tree makes this movie special. To only imagine even
Love this movie! Thank you
Looks a lot like the Alberta Rockies to me. Too rugged for for Logan Pass. Good movie.
I’ve seen this film a couple of times and it still holds my attention with the plot, acting, directing and the scenery. Enjoy it every time.
Prolly my favorite movie of all time...
Watchable ...and
