I just picked up the Kobalt 19" 40v mower for $109 at my local Lowes in Connecticut. It said $139 on the box, and when I tried to scan it with the Lowes app, it said "out of stock", lol. When I brought it to the register, it was only $109. Thanks bear.
My Toro gas mower is 13 years old and still cuts and runs like new! I kept it washed and run fresh gas in it changed the oil every year! My neighbor has the Ego mower and it does not compare power to my mower! When we cut the grass the same time I was sitting down for 1\2 hour before he was done and I am 20 years older then he is! I loved drinking my beer watching him cut!
EGO Fan boy here!! In 2018 I started with their edger and 5ah battery, then their leaf blower (tool only), then their snowblower with two 7.5ah batteries, then last spring their mower (tool only), then string trimmer with 2.5ah battery, and last fall their 14” chainsaw (tool only). I was using the 2.5ah battery this winter in the leaf blower to blow the snow off the cars or driveway and after a few times, the battery failed to charge. I called their customer service and received a replacement battery in a week. That’s been the only hiccup. All of their products have performed extremely well and I love not having to mess with gas and cleaning carbs that ethanol has mucked up. I sold all of my former gas powered yard tools on Craigslist within a couple of days. Now I have more time to golf and ride my motorcycle. 😎
I'm glad to see electric mowers have improved over the years. I am sick and tired of gas motors. Every other mowing, leaf blowing, string trimming, becomes half yardwork and half maintenance and repair on a freaking gas motor. I'm so done with gas.
I'm just getting back into lawn care but when I was a kid these gas motors required very little if any maintenance. I'm thinking they're more finicky these days because of emissions regulations.

I'm tired of gas stuff too. After my gas mower dies, the snowblower is the only carb I have left.
I had a gas mower that was giving me fits a couple of years ago, and it was a top-shelf brand and only a couple of years old. Got fed up and bought an eGo. Its been a godsend, and Im so glad to finally be done with gas-driven lawn and garden equipment.
Honestly I don't blame you that's the reason why I'm slowly moving from gas powered home yard equipment to battery/Electric powered home yard equipment, because I'm sick of the maintenance and the cost of gas it requires just to keep it functional.
Here is a tip for your mowers. Apply 2 coats of ceramic hybrid wax (Turtle, Mother's or McGuire's) on the underdeck after a thorough cleaning/washing. This is very effective, especially on new mowers. Then apply once a year. You will notice a difference the hydrophobic coating makes when washing after mowing..

Is your tip recommended for steel deck mowers, or is it also suitable to polycarbonate/plastic decks like the ones on the Ego line?
@@dagooper his tip should work on anything. You would need to apply it more than once per year tho. More likely every 3-6 months but considering how easy the spray on wash off coatings are i don't think it is too much of a hardship. Will definitely make cleaning easier.
Roflmao....that grass are gonna be water repellant with ceracote. Those batteries are worth the weight versus gas that you have to mix and dump after each use.
Got a greenworks 60v mower and snow blower over the winter. Beefier snow blower for my Michigan driveway and lighter duty mower, but hole thing with 5 Ah battery and charger was about $600. Snow blower had no problem with a 10 inch snowfall, I’m impressed
I cant agree with you more on this. Gas is dying at best and it shows. I have recently bought an Ego mower and i am in love with it. It takes everything you can throw at it and more. Plus, as you mentioned, i don't have to worry about maintenance and all that jazz. Just mow the lawn and toss it back in the garage. That simple.
Yup ... Got pull cord, got to change plug and oil, store it with stabilize and that's just to start. Running noise & gas smell. Shine on electric!!!
Atlas 80v is also 1 of only 2-3 brands that actually use that second battery slot, it will automatically switch over to the fresh batt when the first one dies. Most mowers the second slot is just a holder, not wired for power. you have to manually swap batts to continue cutting.
My greenworks can run in 2 batteries. Its a nice feature.
The DeWalt 21.5" push mower I bought uses both batteries at the same time.

I got the harbor freight atlas mower self propelled. I paid for a three year warranty and I love it. I used it all last year. No problems yet and it cuts perfect with mulch setting.
How much was warranty. Hoping its less for the push mow. With current sale I'm really thinking about it. If new model is better then b4 warranty go trade up
@@nickabel8279 39.00 dollars for the warranty, I think. I still have it now going on third year and still no problems. Had to buy two batteries because they last 25 minutes when you use the self propelled.
I agree, I am 71,.I owned Honda mowers, for years, excellent mowers,, always started on the 3rd pull or less. I maintained them well, but there was the cost and labor of oil, gas, plug, filter.(around $30) However there was storage cost and considerations.. I like the new EGO with lawn chair maintenance, except for washing (much easier) and blade sharpening. I would recommend keeping the blades sharp for a clean cut, as they seem to run at higher yet quieter speeds..

I'm on my 2nd Ryobi 40v mower. I donated the old 16-in and a 4AH battery to the church a couple years ago and bought a 20-inch. I have the Expand-it trimmer/edger/snow thrower/brush cutter/partridge in a pear tree attachments, and I'm on the same 4AH battery I started with 8 years ago and another 4AH I bought a couple years ago. I absolutely LOVE my Ryobi 40v tools. They're bullet-proof.
If I didn't already have a full-size gas-powered snow blower (It's Utah, we get weather), I'd seriously consider the 40V full-size snow blower from Ryobi.
I have used them all, Ego is the best, push, rider, saw cutter, weed eater, tiller , generator etc, etc, etc
My 21" 6hp craftsman is going on its 24th year of mowing with barely any maintenance in its life, maybe 5 oils changes ever. Got my moneys worth, Time for an electric upgrade. Nice vid👍

My 6.25hp is still going strong, about the same age as yours. I’ve never changed the oil or spark plug because I don’t want to jinx it. Still starts on the first pull every time, even in the spring. When it dies will definitely go for cordless.
These batteries are very pricey. You need two at least to do a lawn.
We're starting our third season with a Ryobi electric lawn mower and we love it.
wow a WHOLE 3 years? Both of my mowers are over 20 years old, and show no signs of stopping any time soon. That's at least 4 replacement battery packs to add to your total cost of ownership, except your mower won't last 20 years.

I recently snagged a Ryobi 40v 18" mower kit with battery for only $160 USD from Direct Tools. I was surprised that they shipped this for their flat rate of $7. I only have a couple of strips on the side of my front yard, but after using a mechanical reel mover for many years, this thing makes quick work out of it. Only used up 1/4 of my battery in doing both sides of the yard. And now I can get other 40v stuff if I want, now that I have the battery.

You forgot the Snapper ... have had mine for three seasons ... works perfectly ... also have the leaf blower, the snow thrower, the chain saw, and the incredible shop vac ... all powered by the same Briggs & Stratton 82V battery.
Just a note about the Harbor Freight Atlas series: I purchased the 21 inch push mover it works very well- it holds 2 battery's if you need extra time, One thing I see many of these reviews NOT MENTION and they seem to in a way put down the Harbor freight Alta's series-
1) the 40 volt line of Atlas tools will work with the 80 volt battery no need to buy a 40V battery separately
2) the charges work with both 40/80 batteries
3) if you purchase a extended warranty I think it was an additional $52.00 for the 2 year on the mower- if something happens you Just Bring it Back to the Store and Get a new One- it isn't sent off or repaired it is replaced on spot so take that into account versus some of the others.
Also from time to time if yo have the ITC membership the Atlas line rotates on sale as well
The run time on single battery for the push mower is very close so far as to what they rated 80 minutes I have seen 73 minutes on mine, the fast charger will recharge in roughly 45-50 minutes not bad.
My personal opinion I have the Mower and 18 inch chainsaw both 80 volt I also have the 10 pole saw and the 15 inch line trimer both the later or 40 volt- to me it made no sense to buy the 40 volt battery when the 80 volt battery will auto sense in a 40 volt product of theirs so I stick with 2 80V batteries and can rotate/charge them between all the tools.
100% agree. I have a mix of 40v and 80v atlas tools, and 2 80v batteries is the way to go. such a huge bonus that there's no need to have 40v batteries or a separate charger. it's a good system

My father in his late 80s is shopping for an electric self-propelled mower. His 18 year old gas one has been fixed and refixed and is now getting tired which makes it harder for him to use. I suspect his 25 year old snowblower is going to need replaced soon (new carb in fall 2019 and it worked great the last two seasons so might go a few more). Right now the EGO line is looking pretty good.

Get it! It's worth every pennies. Much quieter and it just power on and you're good to go. When you're done. Just fold it up and store it in the shed. Easy peasy. I got the ego L2114 no propeller as my grass is flat. Took me 5 minute to mow the grass and you're done. Work smarter NOT harder. :)
I have 3 acres. What EV mower do you recommend? And how often do I have to replace the batteries?
3 acres? gonna need gas for that. i don't know of any electric mower thats gonna do 3 acres on a charge other than a commercial grade Mean Green.
Ryobi claims 3.5 acres with their 54" electric z. That might be something to look into

I pulled my lawn mower out of the junk pile at a cemetery, the self propel pulley doesnt engage and it looks like it was bombed in Afghanistan, but it still starts on the first pull every time... My neighbor was fighting with his $400 unit he picked up last year while i was pushing my literal heap of trash around the yard... I really don't understand why this is such a huge problem for people... I'm switching because i hate running out to pick up gas tho.
We have a 80v Greenworks 21” brushless push mower that we love. 399$ with a 4ah battery and charger on Amazon. The biggest downfall of the electric mowers is the blades are only 1/8” thick with the powder coating! Stay away from rocks and big sticks! We’re also impressed with the 80v weed eater, blower and hedge trimmer. The blower is a very power hungry item! I don’t recommend getting a battery mower that’s self propelled, unless you have hills to mow. Save your battery to turn your blades, the electric mowers are extremely light and are easy to push.

@@michaelwren3313 yeah, but at $5k it's too rich for me blood and I'm fairly well off. In fact if I was going to spend $5k on a mower it would be an electric robot one that mows the grass for me so I'd never have to ride the mower again!

As for the EGO, I have one. I live in the Detroit area, known for battery vehicles. I had a problem with my mower. NO service centers available!! Huh?
They did resolve the issue by completely replacing the mower!

EGO fanboy here! I still use the first weed eater they offered from Home Depot. I had to wait for it to arrive and the employee didn't know they were getting EGO cordless stuff at that time. great product. Added a push mower and blower so far.
As someone who has used gas and battery lawn mowers, this is my opinion, if you don't have alot of land and your grass don't get super tall when you mow it, yeah the battery ones are great, but as for my yard battery mowers are junk. Gas is much better for thicker and taller grass I've noticed it would run longer before refueling compared the battery mowers. My opinion.
power is voltage times amps. More voltage means less amps for the same power.
An 80V 5 A-hr battery means 400W of power.
However, you never get ALL the amps from the battery.
50% charge/ discharge (80/30 or 75/25) is the best for maximum recharging cycles.
So looking at the Home Depot website it seems both mowers come with a pair of 10ah 20v batteries. The difference is the the $499 version is self propelled, whereas the $399 is not.
If you are talking about the DeWalt-it’s so light,you don’t need self propelled.
Ego is amazing. Started with the mower and now in 9 tools deep and loving it.

I've got 5, not including the mower. A power loading string trimmer, hedge trimmer, edger, pole saw and chain saw. I've been picking up one or two a year for the last 3 years. I got the lawnmower first about 4 years ago. I always hated gas mower maintenance and buying gas for it. EGO mower is so much quieter and lighter. Other than cleaning out the deck if wet grass gets stuck and charging the battery there's no maintenance. I do try to keep it fairly clean but it doesn't take much effort.
Just bought myself the ego L2114 without the self propeller. Great quality mower. Super easy to use and stow when done mowing.
A note with the single or double standard battery mowers; most have the room to fit the battery converters which allows you to get into a mower of another brand while still using the batteries you own. I have the DeWalt mower, it uses 2 (20V or FlexVolt batteries); it also fits battery adapters to convert to either Makita or Milwaukee. I happen to be into DeWalt already but checked out figment with a friends converters and not Milwaukee and Makita fit in and operate the mower without issue. The DeWalt is a beast I’ve used it to mulch cut offs from a Bush up to 1/2+ inches. The DeWalt is built well and walked fine without power drive, which I don’t like anyway.
My biggest concern with battery powered equipment is you go and invest a ton of money into a line up and then they discontinue the battery. What do you do with all your tools at that point?
I've never seen any these companies discontinue the battery. They may upgrade, but they always make it backward compatible. Some of these very cheap mowers, under 300 may do that...But companies like EGO, and Makita, Greenworks won't do that.....

@@edteach3r Nope, after using the laptop and iPad and iPhone I purchased an Apple touch pad some time ago and use it with my iMac. I am not an artist, just prefer to use a touchpad for word processing, navigating web pages and spread sheets the same way I use my other mobile devices. MacOS and iOS are pretty optimized for finger gestures so it seems pretty natural to me these days. Getting back to your original comment, there are many shifts in our day to day lives, like gasoline to electric. All my barber gear is cordless now. My e-bike is well… electric. My wife and I are investigating e-cars and solar to work along side our hydro service. Things are really changing
The trimmer is why I went battery. 40V Ryobi. I bought a blower and battery for the price of another battery, and got the mower for the cost of a cheap mower. It takes 3 batteries for my 1/4 acre.
Honestly I'm glad that battery and electric powered home yard equipment has improved over the years enough to compete against gas operated home yard equipment almost enough to surpass it, just give it a couple years eventually gas powered home yard equipment will be a thing in the past.
You just can't do any better then EGO, I have their top unit, and it's a Beast!!!!!!!! I had to swallow hard to pay 700 but it was money well spent. I eventually bought their biggest Blower, Trimmer, and Chainsaw...all take the same battery, and all work flawlessly

@@hutchison1224 well, it would firstly depend on the size battery you are using, and secondly how thick and dense the weeds you are trimming. Like a gas trimmer, the thicker and denser the weeds the more gas you use. Mine came with the 2.5ah battery, and I can edge my Drive, front walk, and curb, do all of my trees, go to the back and do around my 6' diameter flower bed, and do my one side fence, about 140', and use about 1 bar, maybe 2 bars....out of 5

I got a honda mower... I change oil occasionally... takes 3 mins... had it for years... paid under 200 bucks for it... starts on first pull everytime... just saying... if it dies.. I will consider
Thanks for that Kobalt tip! At my closest Lowes, Brickseek said they had 13 of the $109 Kobalt mowers in stock, which would work just fine for my postage-stamp sized California backyard. In the store, no advertising for them whatsoever, but instead the three newest Kobalt mowers were prominently on display, ranging from $259 and up. I found the $109 mowers way up high down the aisle, and had someone retrieve one and bought it. It's as if they don't want to advertise the clearance models for fear of cutting into sales of the nicer models. I'm thinking that if people can't find them, they may need to make a command decision to clear them all out in a couple months and either advertise in store or just cut the price further.
Gas mower, oil, spark plug, air filter cleaning, gas with gas treatment. Electric, charge battery after use. End. LOL Wow what one do you want?? I'm gas now and when I have to get a new one there is only one I'm getting and its with a battery. I switched over finally with my trimmer. Got battery Ryobi, LOVE IT.
I bought a 2nd hand Greenworks 80v pro snowblower to try on wet snow before paying out $500-700 for a new one untried. I was impressed with how far it could throw the snow it didn't plug up on me, but luck changed on me when I was only getting 1 volt to the motor. Greenworks wouldn't suggest a shop to fix it. I like how easy they are to operate, but would like to be able to fix after the warranty has expired.
I'm an Electrical Engineer so I can tell you that more volts does not mean more power. Power = volt x amp. A car battery that only put out 12 volts can supply up to 200 amps during engine start, meaning it can generate a lot of power for a short period of time. A lawn mower battery that is rated 80 volts isn't going to be able to supply 200 amps even for a few seconds. Therefore, voltage isn't a measure of power. One of the main reasons why the lawn mower manufacturers are going with higher voltage batteries is they can use thinner wires in their equipment to provide the same power. When higher voltage is used, lower amp is required. Lower amp also mean they can use thinner wiring.
I have the dewalt self propelled, it’s fantastic. Bag side Shute and mulch. No issues with it. Only recommendation id make to anyone if you’re not already in the dewalt line up, get a fast charger. It will charge the 10AH batteries in roughly 1 1/2 hours each. Vs the chargers it comes with 6-9 hours per battery. Other than that. Awesome investment.
He failed to mention that Ryobi has the biggest line up for outdoor cordless tools. Also two platforms they have the 40V with 60+ tools (check out the x-pand it system with the weed trimmer.) Then they have the 18V system for those who have a smaller yard. It consists of everything the 40V has just not as much power/ run time. The 18V does work with any power tools that Ryobi has 175+ tools in total. I have some of the 18v and 40v and the quality and power is unrivaled.
Have had on two seasons now. It's ok, but made cheaply I feel. The handle hinges broke twice. I'd buy a sturdier brand.
The new self propelled dewalt is fantastic. Comes packed with 2 10ah batteries and will knock out a 1/3 to 1/2 acre yard no problem.
Not sure if someone has already said this, but the cordless tiller is a Greenworks as well.
I'm a new home owner in need of a lawn mower - preferably electric. It's heartbreaking to see all the prices you guys mentioned are now $50-200 more today in 2022 - on top of having just paid an insane amount for a house.

I’ve got the Hart baseline 40v and I love it. Also have a string trimmer, backpack blower, and turbo blower. Really like it all.
I like my hart 40v trimmer n blower. When my gas mower gives up the ghost I want to get a Hart mower and would love for it to be compatible w my existing 40v Hart batteries

That's funny because my gas mower maint. looks like your cordless mower maint. I married into this gas Craftsman mower and over the past 12 yrs I've changed the blade/air filter twice, the oil/ spark plug once and she still starts up on no more then the 2nd pull max! I am strongly considering the change though with the major leap in electric technology these days. I got into the electric OPE game when Ryobi first came out with their 40V line with the attachment capable string trimmer (pre-brushless) and it has been a great trimmer. I have upgraded to the Gen 2 brushless model and it is awesome to say the least. I have a majority of the attachments, the 1st gen 16" chainsaw and I totally recommend Ryobi's 40V line!
Bought a EGO 56V 7.5Ah Self-propelled mover years ago and love it. But I would like a second battery, but $349 is high. For that price it should be close to 10Ah.
I really don't like dual battery systems. Being able to throw your drill and impact wrench batteries into your mower is nice but you don't get enough power and you have to deal with charging multiple battery packs.
What are your thoughts in regards to Snapper's 48V and 82V line of mowers and other electric products?

100 comments and NO Atlas 80v owners? I got one last year, its great for a regular 1/3acre corner lot with bermuda, in the south USA. 80v mower is great sorry, but it cannot compete with 3.5hp gas on deep wet grass. I love the atlas for regular mowing, its quiet, I can cut about an hour on 1 batt.

Sooo what do you recommend for St. Augustine grass?? I’ve used Ego, Toro, and Ryobi up to the 7Ah at 80V and just not for the challenge. Gets a terrible cut with that.
I have the same grass.. Thats my question is how does it cut on St. Augustine? I have Dewalt power tools batteries ...

I don't know about Hart, but I have a small Ryobi mower using the One+ 18V batteries. It's great for my small yard with a 4.0AH battery. Plus I can pick it up and carry it with one hand. It wouldn't do for a large yard, but I definitely do not regret buying it.
I got my mom a Ryobi 40v mower and she loves it. At 62 she still mows and refuses to let anyone else touch her yard.
Good for her! I am 60 and 62 does not seem old. :-)
I bought premium gas mowers for the last 10 years. Only lasted 3 seasons. Snapper, Toro, and the Honda. Crap. Two years with Ryobi 40 volt. Great no problems.
Those were not premium mowers.

From when I was about 12 years old to when I was well into my 30's I used my father's self propelled lawn boy to mow his yard. I hated that mower.
2 and a half years ago the ancient piece of junk broke down for the fifth or sixth time. Luckily, that time it was impossible to fix since they stopped making parts for that 20+ year old model over 10 years ago.
I told my father if he wanted me to keep mowing his lawn he'd need to get my approval on the replacement mower. The cheaper 40v ryobi shown in this video is a better product than the 20+ year old gas lawn boy it replaced.
My father really loved the Ryobi Brands when it came to drilling equipment, slowly but surely I'm switching from Echo gas powered equipment to Ryobi electric and Battery powered equipment, but the last thing I'm going to buy is a battery powered lawn mower since it's going to be the most expensive and a risky investment.
How about Toro and their expanded line of outdoor power equipment? I'm surprised it wasn't part of this review.
I have a Toro Time master ..it's been in limbo broke down after 2 half years I bought the extended warranty on it too.. Toro warranty company said it's not under the warranty for a broken belt tensioner plate bolt. Home depot said that they would replace it but now after almost 3 months . I'm not even seeing any Time masters at home Depot they said they would call the warehouse supposably they may have one there for warranty reasons. But they are still waiting to get it back from the warranty company. Totally Ridiculous a 1.200 mower plus I paid extra for the extended warranty which was over 200 bucks.

Got the Kobalt 24V Battery mower, love it, neighbor was so impressed asked if he could use it ,cause his gas lawnmower. Would not start, quickly gave him a can of starting fluid

I leave my 21 honda gas mower outside all year round....never changed the oil. Sharped blade...2 times...had the mower five years...sets outside...snow...rain....sun...zero up keep....besides sharpening blade.....yard is half acre 22k sq ft...im considering battery ? What is best mulcher??
Hands down... the Ego dual blade mower ! They are the best ! I have the single blade with 7.5 amp hour battery . Ive put mine through hell and back and its still kicking like its brand new.
Just a quick note , this is with any battery.... ALWAYS charge your batteries in a cool dry place inside the house . Not the garage ! Extreme heat and cold are the worst thing to batteries .
Soon as you see its charged take it off the charger and unplug it or turn off the the power strip .
Change the oil every 25 hours/mows. Replace the filter or clean it with brake cleaner. sharpen the blade once a month / 5 mows.

My neighbour's yard is the same dimension mine is I mowed her yard with my new 40 V Max I knew it would take more than one battery so I got extra batteries I got mine at laws when they were on sale for a 150 bucks Wish I could have found that special you are talking about a few minutes ago but oil well Mowing my yard and her yard together I ran through 7 batteries And because it was the 1st time cutting it and it rained a lot it was relatively sick so I would save pretty well On the bright side I don't have to worry about anyone stealing my gas cans are busting the ripcord trying to start it

Yes, I hate the florescent green color too! What were they thinking changing from blue to this color? It makes their tools look like toys! Or low quality products, their tools are great except for that ugly color!
going back and forth between ryobi and ego. I know ego is better but I have a ryobi trimmer already... Price on the mowers are so close it seems like I should go ego anyway.

I'm thinking an autonomous mower that cuts every day a random walk and leaves behind fertilizer pellets. Comes in a bunch of different models and sizes.

Watch out for the lower end models tho. They tend to destroy the shrubs, rose bushes, etc.
Believe it or not the sales of robotic mowers is increasing in the UK and Europe. The dealership I work at sell the Stihl iMows and we have found that people are buying them to replace the large lawnmowers and some ride on mowers. So far we have sold six this year already. We have also taken on a company called Kress who are the manufacturer of the Worx machines as some of their robots have features like battery regeneration when going down a slope.

Flat lawn? You don't need power drive! These mowers are less than half the weight of gas. I can push and turn my manual drive Ryobi with one hand, holding a beverage in the other. And you are into your mower for only $300. Spring for the string trimmer, and you got an extra battery for the mower for not much more than the battery itself. I'm super happy. Oh, and that entry level mower has the auto power adjust too.
I know he’s not a fan of new craftsman, has anyone used the newer craftsman 40v mower? Ace is running a deal on the mower that comes with two 4ah batteries free. I already have the blower, weed eater and grinder. If I buy that deal I’d buy the fan craftsman sells. Just curious what people have experienced with it with that mower before I pull the trigger on it.

Wife and I got into the 40v Kobalt line last spring/summer. Zero issues with any of it. 👍
I only found one problem with the new 40 V Max unlike the old 1 with the twin blades the Spring isn't really that strong and it does not push the battery up that high sometimes it gets stuck And you have to play with it to get it out beyond that not an issue
how long will cobalt have spare parts for the cobalt mower?????
On April 22 I went to Home Depot and purchased the new for 2021 Ryobi 2 battery mower that cost $499.00. On April 24th(the first day and last day I got to mow with it) I returned the mower for a full refund. The pros of this mower the batteries charged quick enough. The downside to that is the drain on the batteries due to the headlight and using the self propelled function. The cons to this mower is 1. The drain of battery power is quick due to the headlight and the self propelled function. 2. With the housing being made of plastic and with the blade only sitting 8 inches away from the inside of the housing and if you bump up against a tree it can easily push the blade against the inside of the housing and scrape it to pieces very quickly. 3. The noise level of this Ryobi mower to me seemed very loud. 4.weight....when I purchase something I not only check to see if everything is in the box once I get it home and I test out the product for flaws and failures so I didn't want to cut up the box just in case the mower didn't work out for me so I had to take the mower out of the box without cutting it to pieces and it was one heavy mower. It was a challenge getting it back into the box before returning the mower. Now I saved my biggest flaw gripe for the end...5. Both batteries would not come out of the compartment once I finished mowing. I tried for an hour to get both of those batteries out to recharge them and that is the MAIN reason I got my money back. I am sticking with my steel deck gas lawn mower. Buyers beware! BTW, once I got to Home Depot a Ryobi rep came up to me to ask why I was returning the mower and even he could not dislodge either battery without using brute force and reported it to his fellow reps and the company.
I think you mixed up series and parallel there. The Makita system uses an 18 V battery placed in series giving you a total of 36 V at 5 Amps. That gives you a total power of 180watt hours. If they were in series you would have 18 vaults but now at 10 amp hr. Still 180 watt hours. But due to the resistance in the motor or the inductive resistance more like. You can get more power from a higher voltage. It doesn’t change the capacity in watt hours of the batteries regardless of whether they’re in series or parallel.

I'm holding out for a Honda electric mower. I've had many other mowers but nothing cuts as well as a Honda.
They are available in the UK and Europe but are based on the popular HRG izy range of mowers we get, issue is those mowers aren't renown to have a long lasting steel deck.
Agree, but Honda won't have all the other tools that share same battery. Also Honda is famous for their gas engine not electric.

I've had the Ryobi 40v push mower for about 5 years. Since buying the mower, I also bought a chain saw, leaf blower, hedge trimmer, a combination pole saw/line trimmer/small tiller (for the flower beds) all use the same handle/motor, the heads interchange. And I have 3 40v batteries.
Like the bear said, get into a system that has everything you need.
I had a cobalt system I got from lows at 80 V Max I also picked up the chainsaw and a weed trimmer so far so good I've had it 7 years can't complain it never gave me any trouble my dog on the other hand who likes to dig craters in my yard I hit one of the holes that she dog in Boston the rear wheel off of it whoops my bad so now I have a 3 wheel law more until I can get it fixed

Robot mowers are also becoming increasingly impressive, the UK and Europe have the largest range of manufacturers of them and customers who buy them prefer them to mowing the lawn themselves.

This might be a dumb question but what is brushless mean when purchasing a mower?
Brushless Motor is much more efficient and doesn't wear out as quick. As with the brush motor they tend to wear out and you have to replace the brush stator. Not worth the headache. Get the brushless motor.
my daughter bought nice battery mower, last about three years. Can't find any replacement for it. they went bought gas mower, said they are done with batterie mowers. I'm the same way with batterie weed eater, electric weed eater is better.
Need old kobalt 80v 2.0Ah battery. Are greenworks compatible ? In Australia. Bought when Masters opened. They closed down as the business failed here.
I just bought and used the DeWalt (not self pushing). It came with two 10Ah XR 20-Volt max batteries for 400 bucks. I was blown away at the price considering those batteries. That mower crushed. It just never stopped. The batteries lasted forever. I’ll prolly return it though, because you said DeWalt is crap. One of the reasons I got that over the 40V Ryobi (I have 100% ryobi tools, besides the dewalt table saw) was because it would allow me to then purchase DeWalt tools when they’re on sale without having to purchase batteries.
Does that sound good? Should I return it? I’m new to buying tools.
DeWalt is not crap at all. I bought the same mower, and I'm impressed with it.
@@charlesball6519 Well i learned it doesn’t matter anyway because it’s not made by dewalt. It’s made by GreenWorks and branded with dewalt logos etc.
I ended up returning it just cause someone on Craigslist was selling the ryobi 40v, 40v weed wacker, and blower with 4 batteries for 400, which was the same as the dewalt. Otherwise, I would have kept the dewalt because the batteries give an “in” into their 20V tool line.,
