Are people really complaining about their dialect? English isn't even my native tongue and I understand them just fine? You're literally discriminating a dialect. If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.
katharina I am from Singapore. Most of us speak English as a first language and Mandarin/ Malay/ Tamil or other dialects. It’s a melting pot of culture and dialects here. It’s the same in Malaysia. It is what has been termed Singlish which broken down means Singapore-English. Sometimes the accent and dialect gives us our uniqueness. Thank you for your kind words and understanding 😁
Agree but not gonna lie, some doesn’t even speak proper English, with a lot of broken grammar. Anywhere you’re living at all, you have to be fluent in your national language. Or else that’s just ignorance. Dialect is fine, grammatical errors are just nah.
ピカチュウPikachu English technically isn’t Singapore’s National language, it’s Malay, but English is one of its official languages. Since most Singaporeans speak 2 languages, they have accents when speaking English, same as Malaysians. And grammar wise a lot of it is just the slang, when we write we do use proper grammar but it’s just our culture to use broken English as the casual form of speaking.
Every country speaks English in their own unique way, they have their own slangs and accents, there are no proper slang or accent that the whole world should follow. So, there is nothing wrong with the way Singaporeans speak their English. So, people stop being silly and criticise about a country’s way of speaking English.
Interesting video! Some of the topics went into body image and I thought that was a very important topic that Singaporean society tends to overlook. I'm curious how this also draws similarities with bodybuilding or physique/fitness competitors. For example, how they obsess over achieving a certain body type to 'fit'. Ps: Most of the comments so far are about our use of English or having a thick 'accent' that some are not able to understand. :( And some comments are just downright nasty. Let's all be open-minded and accept that we are all unique individuals. Beauty is not all about appearance. These contestants are all beautiful in their own way. This channel is amazing and engaging. Keep up with the amazing content!
i think ppl having accents is actually a really admirable thing, it means they’ve tried to learn another language and speak it. and if your trying to make fun of them just think... can you speak another language perfectly or when you try to learn another language is your accent perfect? the answer is probably no
7:30 AHAHA that was so hilarious! You know how people park. 🤣🤣🤣 8:30 I loved this woman. That she considered the point of the pageant was to be able to utilize the platform.
wow the comments XD way to miss the point. I think the people they interviewed in the video made some great points about body positivity, growing confidence, and diversity in beauty ideals. Full disclosure: I personally don't get the beauty industry, it's something I only care about peripherally, but people really don't have to come and post nasty comments like "so ugly". Wow. I mean, these people won competitions so... clearly they have some winning qualities. As they said, it's not just about appearance. Even though I don't care about beauty pageants, and agree with the lady who said it's not really relevant any more, it's not easy putting yourself out there, and we have to acknowledge that. And let's be honest, there's really nothing wrong with wanting to dress up and enjoy looking after yourself - as long as you don't base your whole value on that.
The plus size lady and the lady who sat on the left (of the pair of girls) were very introspective and intelligent. Regardless to a commoner like me it's still a flesh parade and to the onlooker there is no other relavance.
@Samuel Thompson they alr explained the importance of vanity and fyi vanity doesnt mean someone has to conform to conventional beauty standards LmAo hater much?
nekomansii chan don’t bother with them, they’re regular trolls of the channel. Although, you’d think they would the channel’s top fans due to how they comment on every video lol
Fk la i damn embrarased to be a Malaysian now leh, somehow my country is just getting more fcked up haizz..... Sorry man we didnt mean to school u or stuff
No, you got the meaning wrong. If you're physically ugly, that's not your fault. But everyone has the capability and ability to clean up well and look sharp and put together. That is what she is talking about when she says "respect". For example, i always dress elegantly when I go to class, to show my mentors that I care enough to look ready and neat for class.
All that makeup on the women's faces...maybe it's the lighting but it's really overdone. Not attractive when they look like they put it on with a spatula.
Hmmm... I don’t think some of them can talk well. E.g. the blue dress lady would say “like” in every sentence. Sentence structure is wrong too (refer to subtitles for the corrected one). Same with the Malay guy. I can’t speak or write well too. So luckily I’m not a pageant contestant haha. People do expect more from a pageant queen.
biolf1 Nope. We should all improve on the way we speak and write. Constructive criticism (pinpoint which part is not good) is okay. Criticisms like “eww they talk like shit” is not good. Anyway, the expectations for these people are just higher than normal people like us. That’s why people criticise Politicians even when they can’t think of a better way, criticise Singers even when they can’t even sing as good.
I'm an American and I can understand it perfectly well..... Besides there's no "correct" way to speak English accent wise, Singaporeans especially are amazing cause they speak English as well as Hindi, Tamal, Mandarin, Malay, Cantonese.... You just sound ignorant dude 😂

@@happyleaf9635 That's not constructive criticism. That's being a bully and nasty.
Honestly, Fiona isn't attractive at all. She would look so much more better if she got to a healthy bmi.
