  • Katherine Ramsland, a serial killer expert and professor of forensic psychology, spoke to the Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy about the Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heuermann. Ramsland detailed the parallels between Heuermann’s case and other serial killers, including Dennis Radar, who’s known as BTK. “He strikes me as a coward,” Ramsland said about Heuermann. “A wimpy type of bully who’s going after women he can easily kill, torture, whatever he did.”

Rex and his brother's homes were dilapidated. That shows they have put their finances and energy elsewhere. They never truly valued their homes and family in a healthy way. That is crystal clear. I m not fond of a lot of modern architecture, but architecture designed as true modern style is really cool. A great many people think it is very beautiful. A lot of newer buildings are not modern, they are simply very basic because it's cost effective. Architects and contractors bid to build them for the lowest price possible, so artistic vision is completely ignored. Don't blame the architects for that, because their job is to design exactly what the customer wants.

In an interview he says “I’m and architect consultant” this is clearly very different than an architect and consulting - making suggestions to meet requirements is more of a mundane non creative aspect of architecture than actual design process. I wonder about that too. I have always suspected his target was one girl (M) on the top floor, and the couple on the middle floor (E&X) were not planned. With what we know so far, I suspect the he was surprised to discover the second girl (K) upstairs in the bedroom with (M). She had recently moved out and bought a new car, and was just visiting and staying the night, and he would not have recognized the car as belonging to her.
I think he either saw (M) and (K) in bed together through the wndow and became enraged by misinterpreting it, or simply walked in on them when he was only expecting (M). He my not have actually planned to kill anyone that night, and was only intending to peep or commit sa.
He is just too smart and educated about crime to make some of the mistakes he did. If he was not planning to do it that night, he wouldn't have taken the precautions he needed to do to avoid capture. He was clearly ready to commit the murders, but I don't think he planned to do it that night, unless his emotional state over stresses in his life led him to take action while not thinking clearly.

It was good to get her take on Gary Ridgeway. She says he has confessed to forty-nine murders but He has said there are more. He confessed only to the ones they had found and LE would like to link him to more because he avoided the death penalty by confessing to the forty-nine. I think she is saying that Heuerman has more victims than we know about, despite being cautious about speculating on his having stopped. In other words, my take at least is that Ridgeway didn't stop although we can't prove it and Heuerman didn't stop either.

When we seek knowledge of the terrible backgrounds of SK's, award winning actor, writer, producer, director Michael Landon crosses my mind. He had problems with an overbearing mother. He wet the bed until he was well into grade school and reportedly his mother hung the wet sheets out the window to shame him. The sheets were in view of Landon's classmates. Michael found solace in sports and as I recall, got a sports scholarship to university. There he ripped muscles in his arm and could not continue in the sport. After that he entered the film industry where he also worked as a stunt man. He did a lot of his own stunts as Little Joe on the TV show "Bonanza". Landon seemed to have a messy marital history with lots of kids, yet the kids seem to have done well. Landon's work emphasized positive themes and has brought a lot of joy and comfort to millions.
He was also gorgeously handsome and attractive to women. He could have been the best SK ever. Having the wet sheets displayed on the side of his house must have been torture and I doubt all of his classmates were understanding. I cringe thinking about that dilemma.
Yet Michael Landon strove to make a better world and he succeeded! Those who worked with him say he was driven and a workaholic, yet there are many good memories told by those who knew and worked with him.

Torture, hostage than moving victim to hunting site, which he did not hunt his victims. Hanson owned his own business too. That property in SC is starting to make me fear even a Garrido situation because of his starting to focus on 10 year olds.😖

I disagree with the last conclusion, that he's likely not doing it for the thrill of killing about both Rex and Gacy. Gacy gradually increased and built his "style". They finesse their MO. Gacy let one young man go, because he was able to free himself from handcuffs. Gacy pretended it was all he wanted, but really, underneath, he probably realized that this kid was not an easy target and was a high risk for himself. Rex could have done ANYTHING to these girls and let them go, and they wouldn't report it because they are poor, powerless, and in a criminal act themselves, and he is a powerful, wealthy, educated, strong Manhattan lawyer. They often start with the easiest practice: small, powerless animals, or as a peeping Tom, small burglaries, and build up to the highest thrill of their choice: example, actual hands around the neck squeezing life out of their victims and watching their eyes while dying (this is paraphrasing a couple of serial killers).

Why there's so little information about the other victims?
I think is unlikely to have another killer disposing the body's in the same place/ or so close to each other's

This woman went from writing study guides for Anne Rice vampire books to writing about [idolizing] BTK (during the same time the I-70 killer was active,) to becoming a teacher then expert.
She won’t answer questions about Kohberger but she does have time to rehab murder houses for a television network.

There was a changing so to speak of LE at the top to open all these investigations simultaneously one year ago & that allowed for the FBI to be brought into the cases with their expertise.
