Serial Killer Expert Katherine Ramsland Reacts to Gilgo Beach Murders Case
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 27 май 2024
- Katherine Ramsland, a serial killer expert and professor of forensic psychology, spoke to the Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy about the Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heuermann. Ramsland detailed the parallels between Heuermann’s case and other serial killers, including Dennis Radar, who’s known as BTK. “He strikes me as a coward,” Ramsland said about Heuermann. “A wimpy type of bully who’s going after women he can easily kill, torture, whatever he did.”

I find it hard to believe that DIFFERENT serial killers just happened to pick the same exact area of that beach to put victims out of that long stretch of road.
Also the clusters of 4's? There is another cluster in Las Vegas submerged in water. Rifkin said he liked dumping bodies that way. Rawhead Rex has to have a higher body count at his age!
I can’t imagine the horror these women went through with this monster.
This woman had Brian Kohlburger as a student at DeSales University. She won’t talk about it to anyone. I think she’ll be called in his trial for the Idaho college student killings.
Would be part of Gag order on that case.. it's good gilgo beach case has taken kohbergers media time it was too much and nothing happening.
Yes! I thought that was the case, I thought it was strange that they didn’t include that in her introduction here, but it makes sense now! Thanks for confirming that!
@@monav4062I think his family worried what he would do if he fell flat on his face. Which he did, both with dating and not being able to get along with his bosses/professors and handle that very sought-after position as a Teachers Assistant.
This woman seems a bit stand offish and defensive.
@@marysunshine5587 I get an unpleasant vibe from her too. Maybe the Kohberger thing has her on the defense? I haven’t seen her earlier videos. She did catch quite a bit of flack working with BTK on her latest book. She says “part of” the proceeds go to his victims’ families. I’d rather see ALL proceeds go to the victims’ families if one is going to give a known fame-hungry serial killer such a big spotlight. Actually, I’d like to know if the families even wanted this book? Anyhoo, long reply. I just wanted to say that I agree and there is something off-putting there.
Rex and his brother's homes were dilapidated. That shows they have put their finances and energy elsewhere. They never truly valued their homes and family in a healthy way. That is crystal clear. Imagine the family living in Rex's dirty cluttered house which he highly likely used as a killing location. That family suffered, for sure. 💔
@year2023Interesting I agree. The dilapidated hoard is definitely reflective of a mental/emotional disconnect.
@bloomingaccents, it appears there might be at least remains present on the property given a medical examiner was brought on site. This is why there is speculation murder s likely could have happened there at the home.
And he obviously made good money. But he is using it on his extracurricular activities instead 😒
I feel like other people was involved in some of those murders
Hoarding is a frontal cortex brain damage of some kind.
there is an aspect though, that they CANNOT manage normal lives. Outwardly they seem put-together, but inwardly people with cluttered homes struggle to maintain normalcy, manage finances, manage relationships etc.
I could listen to this woman’s analogies over and over. Very intelligent and a plethora of information
Yeah, she is so good she spotted Kohberger in her class, WAIT, no she didnt.

Unfortunately the expert didn't touch on the fact that for over a decade there were corrupt and inept police chief and DEA along with other officials. Ramsland does not acknowledge the fact that there was almost a conscious choice not to pursue this killer because the victims were not worth it in the eyes of the previous police Administration
She won't say anything negative about the police and the justice system. She would be burning her bridges if she does. She needs them to grant her access to these killers and for quotes for her books. It's all for money, not the truth.
James Burke, the Suffolk Co. police chief, didn't want the FBI investigating _him._
@@RwillFinishStrong Absolutely, if I was her I`d do the same.
Not only that, but the Head of the Investigation was also heavily involved with soliciting prostitutes and even reportedly was violent and even indicted with a civil rights violation regarding the fact he halted the FBI's involvement in the investigation.
Ms. Levy, if architects in this country "created beautiful things", 90% of the more modern buildings would not be revolting, nauseating, uninspired eyesores.
To segue, Katherine Ramsland is clearly bright, well educated, informed, and a wonderful resource; thank you for this interview.
I m not fond of a lot of modern architecture, but architecture designed as true modern style is really cool. A great many people think it is very beautiful. A lot of newer buildings are not modern, they are simply very basic because it's cost effective. Architects and contractors bid to build them for the lowest price possible, so artistic vision is completely ignored. Don't blame the architects for that, because their job is to design exactly what the customer wants.
He has not created beautiful architecture work he is an architect consultant to make recommendations on building to meet city code requirements. While the website shows a few designed projects they were mostly commercial low end jobs like flooring etc. So where are people getting he is a creative person is beyond me. In an interview he says “I’m and architect consultant” this is clearly very different than an architect and consulting - making suggestions to meet requirements is more of a mundane non creative aspect of architecture than actual design process. He’s no Frank Geary that’s for sure. What has he designed and built that is beautiful? NOTHING!
You are right. He was a building code specialist.

@@Soul_Flow_ "Preserving" the truth is not a bad thing.
Bingo. So many even "experts" getting facts wrong...
I think she makes a valid point about some serial killers killing their victims ONLY because they need to eliminate witnesses. I hadn't seen it that way before, but it makes sense. It makes good sense in regard to BTK and his motives.
And Kohberger
I wonder about that too. I have always suspected his target was one girl (M) on the top floor, and the couple on the middle floor (E&X) were not planned. With what we know so far, I suspect the he was surprised to discover the second girl (K) upstairs in the bedroom with (M). She had recently moved out and bought a new car, and was just visiting and staying the night, and he would not have recognized the car as belonging to her.
I think he either saw (M) and (K) in bed together through the wndow and became enraged by misinterpreting it, or simply walked in on them when he was only expecting (M). He my not have actually planned to kill anyone that night, and was only intending to peep or commit sa.
He is just too smart and educated about crime to make some of the mistakes he did. If he was not planning to do it that night, he wouldn't have taken the precautions he needed to do to avoid capture. He was clearly ready to commit the murders, but I don't think he planned to do it that night, unless his emotional state over stresses in his life led him to take action while not thinking clearly.
this is nuts, that is NOT why they kill. They enjoy it, period.
This 12-year-old cold case was solved when newly-appoiunted Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison too over a year ago. Google him. Great achievement. Genius detective and leader.
ONLY because the cops IGNORED the tip about his pickup truck…for ELEVEN YEARS!!!!
The cops ignored so much in this case and still are. He googles asian twink and kills one. Then dumps the body, right next to all of his others. But we have no idea if it’s him!!! There must be multiple serial killers in Long Island, magically dumping their bodies along gilgo beach. Right next to Rex’s victims, It must be true!!! Lololol 😂😂😂😂😂
This is so informative! Katherine Ramsland gives top-tier analysis. Pleas continue to have her on for these type of crimes.
It was good to get her take on Gary Ridgeway. She says he has confessed to forty-nine murders but He has said there are more. He confessed only to the ones they had found and LE would like to link him to more because he avoided the death penalty by confessing to the forty-nine. I think she is saying that Heuerman has more victims than we know about, despite being cautious about speculating on his having stopped. In other words, my take at least is that Ridgeway didn't stop although we can't prove it and Heuerman didn't stop either.
I was wondering why there was a young child among the victims, but don’t understand why he couldn’t just leave it somewhere it could have been found, its not as if it could have ID’d him. Just shows how brutal and truly callous he really is and how little worth he has for any human life.
The child was collateral damage. There's no respect or regard for human life in pure evil.
They are often intelligent enough to avoide getting caught for a long time. DNA of a found child would have then revealed a missing mother. His selection, like Jack the Ripper, of this group of women was precisely because they would not be missed for a long time and their disappearance would have been interpreted as their erratic lifestyle, not that they had been killed.
Maybe he used the child's death to further torture the mother. Sad.
I think the toddler and mother are unrelated to this creep.
I think the "it" you speak of was Baby Doe. the daughter of another victim "Peaches".
When we seek knowledge of the terrible backgrounds of SK's, award winning actor, writer, producer, director Michael Landon crosses my mind. He had problems with an overbearing mother. He wet the bed until he was well into grade school and reportedly his mother hung the wet sheets out the window to shame him. The sheets were in view of Landon's classmates. Michael found solace in sports and as I recall, got a sports scholarship to university. There he ripped muscles in his arm and could not continue in the sport. After that he entered the film industry where he also worked as a stunt man. He did a lot of his own stunts as Little Joe on the TV show "Bonanza". Landon seemed to have a messy marital history with lots of kids, yet the kids seem to have done well. Landon's work emphasized positive themes and has brought a lot of joy and comfort to millions.
He was also gorgeously handsome and attractive to women. He could have been the best SK ever. Having the wet sheets displayed on the side of his house must have been torture and I doubt all of his classmates were understanding. I cringe thinking about that dilemma.
Yet Michael Landon strove to make a better world and he succeeded! Those who worked with him say he was driven and a workaholic, yet there are many good memories told by those who knew and worked with him.
This is beautiful
I’m from LA, land of seeing actors in public. Landon (and Alec Baldwin) spoke VERY LOUDLY in the public settings where I saw them (a boutique in Malibu, and a sidewalk cafe on Venice beach, respectively) so everyone would know they were there. Attention seeking IMO.

😮 WOW. So very strange to hear. I'm 55. Michael Landon was my childhood/ teenage, over all heart throb. I was always very attracted to ONLY men as much like him as there are out there.i married my husband of 20 yr , because he resonated that ML vibe. (Now recent ex) .
It comes as a shock to hear he came from such an unstable family. ( But ALOT people do) I'm not excluded from that.
You have to be pre-dispositioned to sociopathic behavior as well. Bed wetting is one one facet of the dark triad. Hence why killing and torturing animals is also part of it. ML was obviously not a sociopath.
So 2 totally separate serial killers happened to use the same small strip of land as a dumping ground. This lady isn’t the ultimate authority on this subject, some have been known just to kill for the sake of it. I cannot believe all these victims aren’t linked to the same monster.
Google the other serial killer from that area locked up and you get the picture! He has more victims too but refuses to confess!
Abbsdabs , I agree with you
It is beyond coincidence that Shannon managed to die right where the other bodies were. After saying someone was going to kill her! It's insane to me that the police believe this 😢
I know right ! Like what’s up with Long Island ? 😮I know I’ll never move there ! Yikes 😮
It's a common dump site. You know nothing and you are not educated at all on the subject. Be quiet.
Police ignored the Avalanche truck a decade ago!. It was the new captain on the case that took that report seriously and found it right away. That could have been done a decade ago. Don't even try to excuse the first task force!!!
BTK is the scariest of all time. Came off as completely normal in so many ways. No-one said he was "weird," or that his house was "scary." By contrast, Heuermann was considered weird, dorky, and completely awkward, and what is more his house was not remotely capable of fitting in to his surroundings. He stood out, and is less scary in a sense becasue he was so obviously abnormal. Rader - normal dude. That is scary.
It’s scary Heuermann got away with it for so long considering he stood out.
I think there all weirdos in their own way. I don't buy that they were 'normal' and wouldn't give off bad vibes. Even the seemingly normal btk has a mean look to him if your able to pick up on patterns and subtlety. Plus I'm not even mentioning 'energy' which bad people will give off no matter how normal they try to act to make you feel they are harmless.
That's not true about BTK. There are plenty of women with terrible stories about him from before he was caught.
The PSYCHOPATH next door
I think John Wayne Gacy was by far the scariest . . .
I think they need to look into his father. Maybe some of the earlier victims could have been his father's work. It is not unheard of for a son to follow in his criminal father's footsteps. Could also explain why he wants to keep the house the same as his father had it.
That is such an interesting idea!!
Like father like son ? 🤔
Frightening to think anyone of us could at any point become a victim of a serial killer

Its said the average person will cross paths with such a killer at least once during their life...
Moreso true if your a woman, as their easy to overpower. Not true for
all though, as John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahlmer killed men or boys,
but they were both homosexuals. You should always be vigilant, and
not paranoid, because the chances of being killed by a serial killer are
very very slim, especially if your a straight person keeping decent hours,
but it certainly does happen.
The odds are tiny, the odds of your husband killing you are a thousandfold higher. Serial killers are extremely rare creatures.
What surprised me about this case is that in 2010, they had a vehicle description and a physical description of the suspect. It seems that should have narrowed down the suspects and he should have been on their radar quite a while ago.
It seems that the police department was In each other’s cases. Not paying attention to their job.
I find it quite bizarre that that was the burial ground of two separate killers !
Just because the method of how they bodies were disposed of differ thats certainly does not mean they are not connected.
Probably his old grave yard. Unlikely someone else is using it.
The whole thing is bizarre. Shannon Gilbert somehow finding herself in median brush somehow succumbing to death. Almost like all those souls claimed her so they could finally be found. 😳
Exactly......
And that he owned property and storage near the dump site
nothing bizarre about it. its a convenient place to dump for NYC, quiet at night, for disposing of bodies. the way a body is left says a lot about a killer.
Tbh, I’m kind of wondering if this was a family activity… like duck hunting in that same area was for them. Is it possible another male in the Hueurmann family was also a serial? The brother for instance? I think yes, definitely possible they worked together.
The DA said that one of the hairs found on a victim was a close DNA match to a family member. That would rule out his wife on that one hair, as they don’t share DNA.
This is a guy who really relishes being 'smarter' than everyone else.
That's prevalent in narcissists, you don't have to be a killer to have that view of yourself.

Why is everyone ignoring Hanson from Alaska? The hunting aspect comes to mind. Attacked when family on vacation. Hunting ground dumping ground. Torture, hostage than moving victim to hunting site, which he did not hunt his victims. Hanson owned his own business too. That property in SC is starting to make me fear even a Garrido situation because of his starting to focus on 10 year olds.😖

I think he chose such small victims because of his (apparent) obsession with "10 year old girls."
There was more than one internet search containing that phrase...
The mother's Virginia home was clean, but somewhat cluttered and in need of exterior upkeep. At that point, it may have been attributed to her age. She was around 88.
Katherine has not done her homework on this case. Original LE refused to let FBI enter the case. They certainly had access to better technology and analysis of evidence. No, present technology didn't exist 10 years ago but it was available before THIS year. This case could have been solved a few years previous to this. It's apparent no one more currently worked with the evidence until the task force took it and ran.
I agree. Will add that this was a terrible interview.
why didn't they let FBI enter?
@@gregdahlen4375 The man in charge of the investigation at that time was corrupt and linked to prostitutes. He has since been arrested. Two different types of remains but found in close proximity.
Two homes in two different states both dumps.
Two brothers. One now an accused serial killer of one of the crime scenes of 3 of the 4 victims.
Maybe the brothers SHARE a “dumping ground?”
That's so nasty, possibly more than 1 serial killer using the same spot to dispose of bodies.
He needed to stop hiding bodies in Gilgo beach after they found some, the site was probably watched, cameras might have been installed ... He probably found another spot, maybe around his properties in SC
The PRIME serial killers always seem to be very organised in their methods, good at hiding a double life but the mystery still remains why Rex can't eat his Pizza crusts
I think we should all learn a lesson here.
Cutting down on carbs
Well his pie-hole is kind of tinyish so can't open enough for pizza crust to go through?
It reminds of his inability to reach a similar hardness?

I always thought that people who skipped eating the crust were doing so out of greed. They get another slice while others are finishing their crust.
Angenette, we understand that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Great job.
Presumed...
right, the court need to prove and look deeper, why He did that? What reason? What kind of habit, hate, or disease???
It certainly didn't help that there was internal scandals in the Suffolk County police department at the time and that the police commish ( James Burk ) was arrested for attempted murder and also hindered deeper investigations into those women's deaths.
The most vulnerable of women are at high risk of this. We all have a certain level of risk with sociopathic lunatics running around. But being at least risk starts with teaching our daughters of these risks and giving them the love, affection and understanding they need to love themselves and trust us enough to have tough conversations
It seems that as long as your daughters aren't escorts they'll be ok. Let's start there and the rest will figure itself out.
I disagree with the last conclusion, that he's likely not doing it for the thrill of killing about both Rex and Gacy. Gacy gradually increased and built his "style". They finesse their MO. Gacy let one young man go, because he was able to free himself from handcuffs. Gacy pretended it was all he wanted, but really, underneath, he probably realized that this kid was not an easy target and was a high risk for himself. Rex could have done ANYTHING to these girls and let them go, and they wouldn't report it because they are poor, powerless, and in a criminal act themselves, and he is a powerful, wealthy, educated, strong Manhattan lawyer. They often start with the easiest practice: small, powerless animals, or as a peeping Tom, small burglaries, and build up to the highest thrill of their choice: example, actual hands around the neck squeezing life out of their victims and watching their eyes while dying (this is paraphrasing a couple of serial killers).
Yeah listen to his speech in that interview! Sexasaurus Rex has a narcissist complex and is not very masculine at all 😖
I think the tiny women represent something in children comparison rather than picking smaller women he could overpower physically. The doll found tells us there’s a child component to it picking small women. But him seeming so feminine could be a physical reason he chose them. I hope he confesses and tells why he did all that like Denis Rader did!
Hahahaha sexasourex rex
Thinking his mindset was set at High School age. But he was switching or planning.🤨 That focus on 10 tells me he had a goal of kidnapping, enslaving young girl in the future. No effort to clear out land in SC but just enough space for a few buildings.

What I don’t understand is that it was spoken on that he had this business, was taking women out & paying for their services or taking them to dinners yet his wife shopped alone at the grocery store using food stamps? How in the world did they qualify for food stamps?
They may have used the grown kids for the food stamps.
She has a disabled son. He probably received the assistance.
She can't talk about Brian Kohbergber out of guilty feeling, but Rex is ok😂
Someone pointed out though that it could be because of the gag order
@@Simplysmiling91
Most likely her reticence is from a gag order. Should be interesting to see that trial proceed,
@@Simplysmiling91 yep
Does she know about the other serial killer who went to Desales University? Brian Koburger?????
She’s being particularly coy, but the truth of the matter is, the Suffolk police commissioner in 2010 withheld a lot of the evidence, refused to work with Nassau County and kicked out the FBI bc he was part of a highly corrupt police dept and that’s something he did time for so I’m not sure why she was skirting around that.
She should talk about Kohburger
Missing the point why his house was dilapidated,he had much too hide, couldn’t afford to have construction work done by other people
Most murders are cowards, impotent and rejects !!!
Fbi needs to get this person a job, they have it all figured out.
I use to wet the bed and i also unfortunately hurt little animals. When inwas a kid .Mainly frogs, snakes and lizards. no mammals. i never once thought of purposely harming a human.
Seems like the FBI needs to watch more “Criminal Minds” lol.
I love her. Dr Ramsland’s aLways been good on Born to Kill and alike…
Why there's so little information about the other victims?
I think is unlikely to have another killer disposing the body's in the same place/ or so close to each other's
He also had homes in Nevada (legalized prostitution) and South Carolina the place where lots of murders occur and nobody says anything.
This woman went from writing study guides for Anne Rice vampire books to writing about [idolizing] BTK (during the same time the I-70 killer was active,) to becoming a teacher then expert.
She won’t answer questions about Kohberger but she does have time to rehab murder houses for a television network.
Where was his brother at the time of disappearances? I have a feeling his brother may be an accomplice.
"Innocent before proven guilty"
Meanwhile his wife is like "oh God finally get me away from this guy"
There was a changing so to speak of LE at the top to open all these investigations simultaneously one year ago & that allowed for the FBI to be brought into the cases with their expertise.
Haha. Kohberger has been knocked out of the headlines. Gilgo Beach killer has taken over the headlines.😂
Dudes wife must be traumatized now knowing a serial killer was watching her sun bathe.
Love how she brushes off outdated theories and just talks sence. Hopefully she'll do a Netflix on Koburger when the time comes..
This is just like, her opinion, man.
Amazing how she talks about this but not her STUDENT BRYAN KOHLBERGER.
Thought the same thing about the size difference between this guy and the victims. He gets off on control.
It's also easier for him to carry their bodies into the marsh without having a heart attack.
@ 12:43 When he is guiding a gentleman through his office I had to do a triple take b/c it sure as heII looked like Gilgo was guiding BTK! I was trying to figure out how in the heII that happened but it wasn't clearly!
Shes so fascinating to listen to
God i hate when experts are busy talking about the murderer being a bully, coward, or any other emotional statement.
Funny how she’s willing to speak about this but not Bryan Kohberger….
This lady was teaching Brian Kohberger and supported his application for PHD at Washington state. Quite a profiler!!! She did not see anything wrong with Kohberger?
Why is the tone of voice not adjusted? the sound on the doctor is very low .. then you start high. Adjust the volume to the same level next time please.
If he taunted the victims families by calling them from the victims cellphone why couldnt they trace the ping from the cellphone tower.
They have done, the calls were made from all over NYC I read somewhere that some were from right outside his office. It's some of the evidence they are using against him
@@karlakoala99 Thanks
An architect who lives in a shack is a disconnect. There's a story there...That plus his wife was forced to grocery shop with food stamps.
You should've been on this case 10 years ago....
It's interesting to see her here talking about Heuermann just a few months after refusing to talk about her student kohberger. I get that she's facing a conflict there. Just pointing it out.
