I wonder if the Wife will work with the police for more details about timelines or anything like that. I sure hope she does. I know she filed for divorce so that's a good thing. She had to have noticed behaviors from him that weren't right. I watched the Ex SWs interview today and She had gone out to dinner with him, he freaked her out and she followed her instincts and wouldn't get in his car but He was obsessively speaking of the Gilgo murders. She is definitely not standing by her man, which may indicate that the marriage was already rocky or perhaps suggests she already had suspicions. By divorcing him, she is no longer protected from testifying by spousal privilege. New York is not a community property state, so filing for divorce might be her way of protecting her assets from any wrongful death civil suits that arise. It might have been a wise move even if she doesn't believe the accusations.
Im starting to think the old former police cheif that was in charge of the FIRST investigation that miraculously looked over this guy when todays detectives are sayin it was BLATANTLY OBVIOUS...May mean the police cheif was in on it with the murderer. The police cheif was involved in some odd stuff apparently that was similar to the murderer. Curious to see if they were friends...
The one thing that is truly damaging is his wife's hair in between the duct tape used on a victim, which most likely happened at his home. Also, I have not heard reports of any other persons DNA found with the victims. That's very odd to me. I have a feeling they will find a victims DNA at his home
If he was in his 30s in 2011, many serial killers would have had victims before that age. He didn't just start in 2011. How many could there be and where?
I absolutely agree. Must be more. He is a HUNTER. A human female hunter. Didn't start "yesterday". He has a type, when and how did he acquire the type? At what age did he get distorted? Most importantly - WHERE has he traveled ? His travel records MUST be thoroughly researched, staring from a reasonable adult age.
He was 43 in 2007. There are still 7 more bodies to account for on that beach alone, starting from 1996. After they uncovered this site, I believe he chose another dump site. There could be countless women anywhere he's traveled.
Also, I don't think he kilked them by firearm. This was psychologically personal. He likely used his hands and belts, ties, strangulation, beating etc. Killing by firearm is not hands on and is too emotionally distant.
I read in some or another comment section (someone from Long Island) saying that after the murders happened and there was some sort of memorial (temporary) made for these beautiful young women, with flowers and cards etc. one day 3 really strange looking dolls had appeared on the site, placed very visibly and the look of the dolls were so odd that it was giving people the creeps and everyone was wondering if it was the killer who had left them there? Maybe the police/fbi is thinking this doll they found in the house (apparently the size of a small child, not a blow up doll or adult size) (there is a photo in some video with the doll being carried out from the house in a glass "cage") could shed some further light in to the case of the strange dolls left on the memorial all those years ago?? This case, i reckon will be expanding much further, and unfortunately i have a feeling there will be far more victims. R.I.P all victims.
He had a wife and daughter plus he had inherited the house from his parents. It's possible that the dolls were collected by one of his female family members and have nothing to do with him. But if there is some kind of link between the victims and these dolls, ex; he bought a doll that resembled a victim after he killed them, then that seems relevant to the case. That house looks like it's crammed full of stuff that no one has been able to part with.
@@onmywayto8083 Yes, his mom is still alive and in her 90's. I would imagine that a good amount of her stuff is still in that house, though. Hopefully, she is being shielded from this news because it's horrible.
Professional Jules Epstein does an excellent job of explaining the legal aspects of the collection of evidence, what is allowed, what may be allowed for special reasons and what is not allowed and how those things may difference during the period of the investigation and at the trial. His explanations were illuminating and revealed the complexities of the law both for the prosecutors and the lawyers defending the accused. The presentation was fascinating. I have my doubts about whether I would have ever made a good law but with all the recent murder cases I have learned so much about the law that is very interesting, very interesting. I always thought I might be bored if I had gone to law school but I now realize I would have eaten this up. And every case is unique. Thanks for sharing.
Having done some research into the family, it appears its not just Rex who's "odd" in the family lol. He has an older brother by just a few years who was charged with involuntary manslaughter for being drunk and driving that ended in him crashing into a property complex and instantly killing an individual who managed the complex. He was incarcerated for a couple of years for causing the death. They are both described as "the odd couple" by neighbors, as the older brother left New York and moved further south and purchased several acres of land to make into a large private compound live on. Rex Heurman was believed to be considering moving on the compound with his brother, particularly as it was reported he would be able to freely hunt on land unfettered....but knowing what we know now, it wouldn't surprise me if he was more interested in digging up his victims and moving them to be re buried in the brothers compound but thankfully he ran out of time to do so. And I strongly doubt he'd have ceased killing and would have undoubtedly found more victims and no doubt buried them on the large, isolated, sprawling ground in his brothers compound that maybe the brother was completely clueless as to the activities of his serial killing brother.... This arrest didn't come a day too soon.
Digging up a decomposed body from 10 years ago seems like a highy unlikely move. More like he was going to use the brothers land as a new dumping ground
@@RushinVr6 Detective Colombo above has no clue what he's talking about. He wrote he "did his research." I read a few news articles and learned that for myself.

20:59 could that not be explained away in court by saying ‘well he lived right by the beach, he was just a concerned citizen following the case of the victims that were dumped right by his house’? Obviously most of us would be like ‘nah he’s a serious creeper and loving the coverage’ but logically it could be explained away by his defence?
Lifejacket. I grew up living right on the ocean, hence I was on the beach everyday. It was not unusual to see lost/abandoned life jackets on beaches, and sometimes high up on the shoreline due to hightides or storms. Could the life jacket have been found in the vicinity of where the victims were found? Could it be a "souvenir" of 'his' body deposit area? Just thinking out loud.
Sick that this monster was able to keep living his life for the last 13 years after all of the murders. Meanwhile, the victims lives were snuffed out by someone who chose to play God. They didn’t deserve such a horrific death 😢.
Great interview. Tho RE the cat and lifevest, keep in mind the bodies and murders this case is currently revolving around are the 13+ year old murders. BUT that doesn't mean there aren't more. This guy didn't stop murdering women. Those two specific items may very well have been taken to connect him to more recent and/or older murders.
i really hope this disgusting murderer has no clue how much attention he is now getting cause he has followed the case fervently and asked all kinds of people about it. How it took so long for this obvious creep to pop up on law enforcement’s radar is a mystery
Because the case was basically "shelved" by the previous Officer in charge, however you call it in the States. A new task force was put together finally a few yrs ago and here is the result.
The cops didn't look for him. When they did, it only took 6 weeks to find him. If there were any victims between 2010 and 2022, I hope the cops are never able to forget that.
He probably gets off on the attention. It took so long because of the corruption in the Suffolk County police department and the neighborhood didn’t want the media attention to lower their property values. Sick all around.

Awesome guest, an incredible teacher! This episode was very educational... it prompted discussion and critical thinking. The info about search warrant: all citizens should have awareness of laws
Does the "staleness" factor change if the wife or daughter tell prosecutors about potential items of interest? Or if the wife gives permission for a full search?
Ooooo. That’s a good point. Let’s hope her uncontested divorce lands her with the properties and she agrees to turn it all over to authorities for review…?

When the person found the hair that is connected to Rex Heuemann, I hope they noted where it came from on the canvas. What I mean is if the hair was located on the inside of the canvas where the body was located and not on the outside it would go towards proving it was dropped off of him while he wrapped the victim up after he killed her. If the hair that is connected to him was located on the outside of the canvas cloth that the victim was wrapped in, it proves that the canvas was in and around his home or in his possession before the body of the victim was killed and wrapped in it.

As soon as these poor girls were found, this serial killer, just found another dump site!! A serial killer does not suddenly stop killing unless they are dead or in prison. The FBI need to look into other missing girls to see if he had any contact with them.
Some have taken very log breaks though. Like 10 or 20 years, ten strike again
100%
He's not just a serial killer. He's practicing a dark religion with other, that's why the police did nothing about the bodies on the beach for years.
Since he never moved from this house during all these years of.crime, I’m sure they will find something.
It really looks like he had a hard time parting with anything, with the amount of trash the evidence team is carrying out of there. Borderline hoarding situation. Poor wife, kids and kitty!
I wonder if he has something buried on the grounds of the property. Maybe that's why he never moved out
@@bulletsfordinner8307 oh good idea.
This neighbor remembered him digging up in his backyard, when he (the neighbor) was about 19, he is a full grown man now
@@sofiakatelynthey're gonna resurrect the entire ground of that property to see what's there. So much is going to come out of this case.
Why were hidden cameras not set up around the beach area after a couple of suspected serial cases to catch a vehicle or person?
I wonder if the Wife will work with the police for more details about timelines or anything like that. I sure hope she does. I know she filed for divorce so that's a good thing. She had to have noticed behaviors from him that weren't right. I watched the Ex SWs interview today and She had gone out to dinner with him, he freaked her out and she followed her instincts and wouldn't get in his car but He was obsessively speaking of the Gilgo murders. She said it was like his eyes glossed over and He was reliving the moment.
She will be forced to...by law.
i wonder how she couldn’t have known or at least suspected he had something to do with these horrific murders. She had to suspect him at some point
She filed for divorce! And doesn’t seem to be standing up for him unlike that Richard Allen
@@TheEwokExplorer I thought that too. Because I'm willing to bet he's Either abusive OR has abusive tendencies with her and I'm sure he's probably obsessively talked about the Gilgo murders.. and probably bragged to some extent or maybe even confided in her, Who knows. She can't be that Clueless.
This guy seems like the type who had to keep souvenirs from the victims. He talked openly about the case to other call girls of all people.
Great interview and info. The professor was great in how he explained things.
Now LE has to nail that SOB so those ladies get justice!
I agree!
The one thing that is truly damaging is his wife's hair in between the duct tape used on a victim, which most likely happened at his home. Also, I have not heard reports of any other persons DNA found with the victims. That's very odd to me. I have a feeling they will find a victims DNA at his home
Right I feel like he def had them come to his house
The hair could have been planted. Just saying.
i just imagine how the neighbor felt after knowing the acts he commits it.
More like how anybody who knew him felt like.
@@genghiskhan9200I keep thinking of the ppl he employed, they were around most likely longer than anyone else
Apparently he was menacing toward his neighbors. He wouldn't even say hi back. Just glowering at people and chopping wood in his front yard.
I would move.
If he was in his 30s in 2011, many serial killers would have had victims before that age. He didn't just start in 2011. How many could there be and where?
He was in his mid 40s to late 40s . Not 30s.From 2007-2010. But you're right.undoubtedly, more victims
Yes, most likely there will be other victims tied to him. More of the bodies on that beach, but perhaps also elsewhere.
He was 43 in 2007. There are still 7 more bodies to account for on that beach alone, starting from 1996. After they uncovered this site, I believe he chose another dump site. There could be countless women anywhere he's traveled.
Well there looking at his DNA for those new Bedford murders in the 80s
Also, I don't think he kilked them by firearm. This was psychologically personal. He likely used his hands and belts, ties, strangulation, beating etc. Killing by firearm is not hands on and is too emotionally distant.
This guest is fascinating 👏
Supposedly it’s a doll from his wife’s native country dressed in traditional clothing.
i truly think it’s the same type of doll from what it seems.. why else would they take a doll?
Trinity killer vibes.
@@nohmers18 this is real life dude. Not Dexter.
Trophies, such as necklaces or earrings might be on the doll
Man his neighbor always had the creeps with this guy. He said he would smell fires from his back yard.
But his wife had no curiosity?
What kind of architect lives in that tinderbox?
Being an architect, one would deduce that he would live in a fabulous house.
His Mother is still living. She sold him the house I think in 1996.
@@onmywayto8083 Yes, his mom is still alive and in her 90's. I would imagine that a good amount of her stuff is still in that house, though. Hopefully, she is being shielded from this news because it's horrible.
There were similar dolls left at the sites where the bodies were found
@@rachelwyatt9529 Lord, this guy is a nightmare.

excellent discussion. Mr. Epstein is incredibly knowledgeable. Its so nice to hear his viewpoints!
He’s amazing truly
It’s also frustrating. I think, why wouldn’t said evidence be admitted? But as he explains it, I understand.
Yes, he is very good!
all we needed was the first 17 words, rest was mid life crisis...figure it out man.
You better be a lawyer in your next life.
If they're both odd one wonders what their parents were like.
Ya okay Colombo, digging up decomposed bodies that have rotted up, you're a genius. I read a few news articles and deduced for myself what you refer to as "research." I think you missed your true calling as an investigator.
Thank you so much for this interview! What a tragedy, the details that come from the trial are going to be horrific.
We are not guaranteed a trial, in fact if this guy is confronted with all evidence they have on him through his lawyer, he may just plead guilty though when you see how this guy seems to crave attention, I doubt it
It wasn't a life-size doll. It was an antique doll in a doll display case. It was likely an antique or keepsake. It wasn't a blow up doll.
Looked like a rag doll. They should look inside the doll
I read somewhere it was a doll from his wife’s birth country in traditional clothing
I wish they would actually look at the pictures that all the rest of us have already seen of the things they have taken out of the house such as the doll. For God's sake inform yourself before you try to talk about it on the news 🙄

Wow, Professor Epstein was such a great contributor to legal explanations and understanding for a lay person regarding this case. Thanks so much to him and to you for having him on!
He is an exceptional legal professor in a world where not all legal professors are ... exceptional. Law school is difficult enough -- getting stuck with a bad teacher is a punishment I'd wish on no one!
Unfortunate surname
I grew up in Massapequa Park. I had a feeling it was someone from around there going back to when they traced a call to the area.
Never know what fantasy someone has....scary.....

Really? He even looked like an arrogant misogynist in the casual work videos. And his after arrest photos... he absolutely looks like a killer.
He looked like a creepy monster already
He looks like a monster
He looks like he always just woke up from a nap and still had the pillow imprint on his face
His house wasn’t a good advert for his architectural skills. It looks like a shanty.
He has multiple houses. He didn't maintain them all due to time.
Imagine living next door to his house. Terrible.
My day gets better every time I listen to this professor. I fricken love him.
21:52 and there’s land in SC that he owns- looks like a whole junkyard out there. A lot to sort through
Love this guest. Good interview.
I like how the professor breaks down the law vs terms. Very educational.

When should warrants be served on South Carolina property to search
Professor Epstein is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to! This is one of the few episode that I have watched all the way through.
His house is in a pretty bad state for an architect.
Jules smashed it. Very informative and impartial. Great guest today
i really hope this disgusting murderer has no clue how much attention he is now getting cause he has followed the case fervently and asked all kinds of people about it.
Thank you for keeping us posted everytime there’s new info on this Monster in this Case.

It looks like they are emptying his entire house! I saw a gumball machine in a clear trash bag so how is that evidence? I theorize that because his house is so cluttered, they are having to remove layers of stuff just to search. Any thoughts??

When the person found the hair that is connected to Rex Heuemann, I hope they noted where it came from on the canvas. What I mean is if the hair was located on the inside of the canvas where the body was located and not on the outside it would go towards proving it was dropped off of him while he wrapped the victim up after he killed her. If the hair that is connected to him was located on the outside of the canvas cloth that the victim was wrapped in, it proves that the canvas was in and around his home or in his possession before the body of the victim was killed and wrapped in it.
