You shouldn't be allowed on a jury because you would have the defendant guilty before the trial starts. He's innocent until proven guilty by a jury of his peers after all evidence is presented

1st degree in NY is usually reserved for cops, judges, etc. My friend’s father was killed on Long Island in 1996 and the guy received life imprisonment without parole for 2nd degree murder.
In this case it's second degree because for it to be first degree murder there can't be more than 24 months between murders. They say Barnes was killed in 2007 so there was more than 24 months passed before the next one. I'm sure that if they found evidence that supported premeditation like pictures of her or he admitted stalking her they could upgrade but for the purposes of charging they had to go 2nd degree. It is kinda moot though cause it won't lessen any penalty.

U know there's always serial killers, and this guy clearly was able to control his desires for long periods of time, and was smart enough to not get caught for a long time, between victims that were involved in shady lifestyles (people wouldn't know were missing immediately), his living a seemingly normal life as far as a job and a family, and to be able to keep those two sides of your personality completely separated from each other is actually remarkable.. they said they thought he might be involved in the murders in Atlantic city as well now they're saying it's not probable. Who knows these numbers might keep rising. There could be victims that haven't ever been found still.
