  • Rex Heuermann, the man accused of being the Long Island serial killer, has been charged with a fourth murder - the death of Maureen Brainard-Barnes in 2007. Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said new DNA test results further link Heuermann to the crime along with new digital evidence. Law&Crime's Angenette Levy talks with retired NYPD cold case sergeant Joe Giacalone about the new details in this episode of Crime Fix - a daily show that delves into the biggest stories in crime.

    This case is Bonkers! Shannen could not have a better fit as far as victimology if you tried. She was allegedly seen with Rex prior to death but the cops insist she accidentally ended up dead in the exact same place where all the other victims ended up. Now they are insisting that DNA evidence from the wife is found on ALL of the victims. Not like the daughter's or the cat's which was found on one or the other victims. Shannan had some kind of mental or drug induced psychosis episode and ran into that marshy area to hide from whoever she thought was after her. she most likely died from hypothermia/drowning. what are the odds that Rex was outside in that area & came across her & killed her on the spur of the moment? not very likely. her death is tragic but it wasn't murder.

    • @rayramos8435
      @rayramos8435 7 месяцев назад +1

      In this case it's second degree because for it to be first degree murder there can't be more than 24 months between murders. They say Barnes was killed in 2007 so there was more than 24 months passed before the next one. I'm sure that if they found evidence that supported premeditation like pictures of her or he admitted stalking her they could upgrade but for the purposes of charging they had to go 2nd degree. It is kinda moot though cause it won't lessen any penalty.

    I just believe that Asa was guilty after the fact. Meaning she ignored his behavior, even after police asked the community for help.
    Seeing her now profiting off of his alleged crimes is horrible. Not trying to help crime victims. Whining about money when they own all of this property. Doubt RH was destitute. All kinds of help through Social Services including emergency help in a crisis.

    U know there's always serial killers, and this guy clearly was able to control his desires for long periods of time, and was smart enough to not get caught for a long time, between victims that were involved in shady lifestyles (people wouldn't know were missing immediately), his living a seemingly normal life as far as a job and a family, and to be able to keep those two sides of your personality completely separated from each other is actually remarkable.. they said they thought he might be involved in the murders in Atlantic city as well now they're saying it's not probable. Who knows these numbers might keep rising. There could be victims that haven't ever been found still.

    Myra hindley Rose West there's 2 partners who actively engaged with their partners crimes . If this wife's DNA is on the poor deceased women I'm sure it will be looked into. Imo it's more than just plausible, more so than her having no idea at all. Rip to the poor victims.

    • @SticksForChicks
      @SticksForChicks 8 месяцев назад

      No, it’s not even close to “more so than her not knowing.”. You’ve compared apples and oranges Hindley and Rose West and Karla Homolka for that matter weren’t participants-they were actively leading the charge. There are numerous serial killers who had wives and families and were respected by their communities. That’s literally how they get away with killing for so long.
