Yes, & same here, every kind of dry bean you could imagine, & for us, dented canned goods marked down (sitting in a cart in the back of the store), & day-old bread from the "bread store" as we called it. That was a large majority of what we had to eat growing up in my house. I still love beans to this day though. #justshowsomekindness

Chef Jeffrey you remind me so much of my dad (blessed his soul). Most of cooking is similar to his and he definitely enjoyed cooking. He would feed our entire block on the weekend a d holidays. This exactly how he would make pinto beans. There are a few things I never learned from him. How to cook liver, crab legs and oxtail soup.

I buy a whole bone~in Fricks ham. I use 1/2 and freeze the other half. In a crockpot: I use 3 to 1 ratio of Great Northern White Beans to Pinto Beans and diced purple onion. Toss in some black pepper and cover with water. (No need for beef or chicken base. The bone~in ham makes a tasty gravy on it’s own.) Yes Lawd! Cook on low until beans are done and the ham comes off the bone. I put buttered corn bread and some ketchup in mine.
Love my Instant Pot. It's wonderful for beans. Pintos are my favorite. You got those just right, that's pure gold. I love them with cornbread, but also with fresh light bread. Thanks as always for a great video!

Ive done this with a smoked ham hock in there instead of the jowl bacon but not tried the Insta Pot yet. Now give me a pone of cornbread and glass of cold buttermilk and I'm happy
