ack in the day, a lot of the early grime mcs started out on jungle but the scene was locked, moved to garage and a similar thing but also the music at the time didn't have enough space. Then slimzee decided to play the more grimey garage beats and slowed down dnb to give the mcs more space. From that grime was born. People say that so solid pioneered grime bit they done grimey garage and not pure grime. So solid played their part but slimzee is the true godfather of grime.
Others say Wiley, but he was still going garage ( Ladies hit squad) when slimzee was pushing more grimey garage with the first PAYG lineup, beforeWiley joined.

Exactly that! KANO, CHIP, WILEY, GHETTS, SCORCHER, JME, SKEPTA. All of these guys have their own place, their own style, own place.
These are the cream of the crop in my humble (but correct) opinion 😂. All boys from back in the day that stuck together and all became elite in their own way. Having a group of friends this talented helped elevate them all. Love to see it.

@Diontb everyone knows both wiley and dizzie are part of this group of friends. So when I say these, I'm talking the entire group, not just those in this 60 minutes. There's plenty who are part of this friends group who aren't here. Dizzie, wiley, mercston, devlin, lethal b etc. Thought it would have been obvious I wasn't just talking about those in the video but the entire group of artists/friends that came up together.

Most of them do have songs together but they also just know each others songs. They are fans of each other. Have to remember all of then London rapped live within miles of each other
Mainly east london . More specifically plaistow , forest gate , eastham , leytostone . And some north and south londoners thrown into the mix . But grime was definately started in east london prodominantly.

Back then they'd set up in the streets & MC over the tracks. Rapping been going on for a lot longer than US history says it has!!!!

One day I'll give you a full history lesson but Heartless crew were big in the garage scene which evolved into the grime scene. Most of these guys started out on pirate radio doing this kind of thing only back then they were all freestyles in the sense none of them had tracks back then. Newham generals were a grime crew with kano, wretch, footsie..
Ghetts is releasing his new album on January 5. Should definitely check it out.

Towards the end Kano drops the opening line to a song called Raver. Definitely worth a reaction, such an underrated party/carnival track that never really blow up.

Suicycle is absolute classic!
British urban artists been spitting live passing the mic since probably mid 90’s. The kool fm man them was bussing passing the mic constantly at raves and on pirate radio…..yep leaders of the new school early 90’s. I doubt they influenced anyone in the British jungle scene, no one was bothered too much about hip hop. And then days we didn’t get any new hip hop albums from USA untill like 6-8months after it released in USA. N.W.A was probably the biggest hip hop influence on any urban artist in the uk, back in them times there
