I had to check twice when I saw it😂😂fair play to them
I appreciate that Andrew did his homework, it made it more than a surface level conversation. It could easily have been a US Vs UK fluff.
Ehm there was a fair bit of that. I'm sure a section of the video is called UK VS US
@@ivartheboneless5969 Give him his props. Even knowing that UK rap is from grime and grime is from garage and DnB or jungle etc. was super refreshing to see imo
@@Nooberstein123 yeah he was well educated and done his research. I'm just saying a part of the video was named UK V US so saying there was no UK VS US stuff is completely wrong. Not that it's a bad thing, I enjoyed the whole podcast.
This made me laugh, Kano repeated Garage about 5 times to Mark after he pronounced it Garage, like Nigel Farrage. It seemed like he felt like “are you trying to witty blood”
@@Nooberstein123 US bands come to the UK to make their mark and UK artist have always made a big impression in the US. Only problem is America is to big to be a star like their stars. We are two countries separated by a common language.
Loved how Kano simply chuckled and humoured some of the obviously American statements about England 😂
Americans cant grasp that a black rapper isnt looking at everything through a race lens.
That comes with age. Plus they're all sitting in a room together. Social etiquette comes into play.

Why call the team arseholes ?? You kids need to get off the internet
Americans will never quite understand what grime is, it's NOT UK hip hop, the UKHH scene was a completely separate thing and there was little crossover and collaborations between the two. It's really hard to explain what grime is if you didn't grow up with it but the main difference to me would be grime is more about the instrumental, the MC is the accompaniment to the instrumental. In hip hop, it's more about the rap, the instrumental is the accompaniment to the rap. It's more about live pirate radio sets rather than studio tracks, a live DJ mixing the instrumentals and the MCs spitting the bars they have over the live mix.
Grime is 140bpm
Kano Grime - Giggs HipHop
Kano Is one of the best to ever do it over here. Ps and Q's comes on and still tears down dances. Mad respect on anything he does.
One of top 10 grime tracks of all time absolutely bro.
Never seen a Kano interview but this man is incredibly emotionally intelligent, you can see him picking up the vibes from everyone
Exactly what I thought. Emotional intelligence requires intelligence. But he also has a sharp focus, is quick and is good at understanding people
this is so important as an artist as well. you can just tell by Kanos bars, flow and perfectionism that he's a really smart man. UK GOAT
Kano is definitely a smart guy. I think he appears even smarter when you look at the other Grime/Rap artists in the UK who seem quite unintelligent. They try hard to be philosophical while Kano is more natural and answers the questions well.
And being disgusted.
Exactly what I was thinking. I've no idea who any of these men are but they ALL sound dumb af @@minnieb7691

@@Yogirlchoosin99 There’s always one aint there. Have a day off soft lad.
@@Yogirlchoosin99 why are you in a comment section just to hate on people more successful than you?
I could be wrong but I think Kano was being polite laughing and skipping through a fair amount the casual racial comments/jokes. It ain’t like that in London. A melting pot is a melting pot. If everybody stood outside there door on their council estate and you were to stand in the middle you’d almost feel like you were at the centre of a United Nations conference. It’s beautiful
It would have been another topic and gone left, so I'm glad he just laughed and left them to it.
I must agree, a few comments where danger close, but funny I have to say, I guess that's part of the problem 🤷🏾♂️
Yeah Andrew is way out his depth on this one
The guy with his leg up is that person who lies on their resume and then when it's time to do the job just looks like a jackass

I met Kano walking out of Newham General Hospital in East London back 2006-7, me and my fiance used to work there, she had no idea who Kano was - he obliged to a photo request, Kano was very cool and humble. She realises now after Top Boy how much of an OG he was and still is.

Really surprised at Andrew's knowledge on the Jamaican Dancehall influence on Hip-Hop, 💯% true and accurate 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 They called it Toast or Toasting back then and the Master of The Ceremony (MC) would "chat/toast" over the DJ playing the beats. When Jamaicans started immigrating to America they mainly settled in the East, New York. With their sound systems and big speakers they had, the American black community started to gravitate to these big parties outside the Jamaicans Blocks. They took it up and it developed into Hip-Hop 👌🏽
Nah
Don’t bother, its a racist roasting and dumbing down of black people through poding …….
I have to completely disagree with this statement and I’m surprised more people aren’t calling him out on saying that. It’s not true at all. Even from the person who pioneered hiphop he debunked this.

As American thats been listening to UK music since 95' .. this has been my favorite episode. Great work 🇺🇸🇬🇧🔊😎
Out of interest how were you listening to UK music in those days? I wouldn’t have thought jungle or garage or UK hip hop would have travelled very far before the internet, unless you’re talking about pop music
@@levelofsnipes7378 raves were going on in America back in the early 90s. Although obviously not the center of sound, plenty of American djs help push the sound.
It absolutely wasn't mainstream but to people into underground counter culture music in general, rave music was well known with the hip hop, punk/industrial and reggae crowds.
In terms of audio, other than the actual event's, people sold and traded mixtapes, like actual cassette tapes
PS - plus the vinyl records were sold in music stores catering to Djs. Don't forget that America still contributed a significant portion of the culture to dance music, with early disco and house. So psychedelic dance music had been here since day 1. Electronic music has always been international but blossomed in Europe
@@levelofsnipes7378 forgot to mention AOL started in 95, and Napster around 98 or 99. So file sharing started just a few years later. Plus there was some Electronic music that went mainstream on MTV in America like Bjork, Prodigy, Portishead and Moorcheeba in the early and late 90s. So it wasn't as isolated as you may think 😊
