All you really need to know is that the People's Army consists of Akala, Lowkey, Logic, Black the Ripper, Mic Righteous, English Frank, you could say they were the uk version of the wu tang clan
Lowkey has done two FITB, English Frank one, Mic Righteous four, and Logic two. They're all worth checking out.
I reckon you guys would love ghetts
@@stuartbrierley103 or chip
Jordan fitb please 🇬🇧
I teach in the South Bronx, and I use his hook from the previous FITB as a basis for a whole unit. He said, "absolute power corrupts absolutely, buy absolute powerless does the same". I use this daily to discuss social justice and structural violence with my 7th grade students.
Amazing we need more teachers in the world like you 🙏🍻
Lowkey. Fire in booth
K koke. Fire in booth
2 masterpieces n timeless art
I highly recommend his book natives I think your find it extremely interesting and informative.
@@bryden72 I've owned it for four years, and it was in my classroom library the moment I finished it.
@@musicguy1987 awesome 👊 for me as a 72 baby and being white and from london I got to hear a side of my childhood and teens didn't actually see or experience 1st hand you read and generally heard one side and one version one narrative.
And now I'm 50 I'm grateful for having my eyes opened and information is power after,.wish you noting but ML&R and keep what up your doing🙏👊
“Knowledge of Timbuktu, mixed with the slang of a London Youth” 🔥
Yute
The thing I’ve always loved about Akala is I remember hearing him when he was an angry young man. Then he realised he had a gift and he was, no other way to say it - just smarter n figured shit out. Instead of being a prick he’s tryina jus grab everyone’s shoulders n pull them up n teach them.
He’s amazing. I used to party in London in the 90s (showing my age) at the Coliseum he mentioned and the Jungle raves and whatnot. I know his dad, from back in the day at the reggae dances I used to go to. What an amazing, knowledgeable young man. You should watch some of his interviews. I wish we had politicians like him we’d all be better off. Great reaction ❤🇬🇧
@maureenmccormick4527. Partying in the UK in the 90's was something else wasn't it.
Great times.
Dennis Brown was a Jamaican reggae singer. During his prolific career, which began in the late 1960s when he was aged eleven, he recorded more than 75 albums
❤ love Dennis Brown. Saw him at Glastonbury (England) 1982, i was 20, my 1st Of many Glastonbury festivals. Had never heard of him, but was just getting into reggae, playing drums in reggae/ska band. Only years later did I appreciate how lucky I was to see him, being as I'm in England and there weren't too many chances. Black uhuru also played that year - a mini k8nda sunsplash Saturday afternoon on main stage - Dennis, Black uhuru, Aswad. Sorry, if this waffle is boring..but, can't reccomend too highly all check out any Dennis Album.
John Holt also was mentioned by Akala here. Got to see him in Brighton about 20yrs ago. He is also well worth a listen, gorgeous voice.
@@drum253 damn, thats so dope! I'm jealous because i was born in 96, my first glasto was 2013 😅
Akala is a genius. That word get's thrown around all the time I know, but guess what? He is a genius. Honestly a poet and it's a crime he is not more popular, but at the same time I am glad because the mainstream would be something he would find appalling.
Akala is a national treasure ❤
the reason why he said "Like old school jungle selection, come through humble a veteran" is because jungle is a genre of music from the UK that was massive in the 90's & early 2000's and grime took a lot from that genre. If you need a jungle song to listen to to get a feel of the genre, listen to "General Levy - Incredible". It's one of the most iconic songs of jungle.
Name check Skibadee - Deal with the matter in that section. Yes General Levy - Incredible on MistaJam is deffo worth checking out
I see u teabag 😆 can’t see my face BALAKLAVA!
Incredible was pop jungle and the track that heralded the end of the prime jungle era. Check out Conquering Lion code red and renegade snares (foul play remix) for seminal jungle tracks.
Don’t forget original nutta
@@PeterLarter81 shadooooooow demon.. scream like a cat… Meeeeeeoooooooow.. oh she like that 😂😂😂😂
Akala is at the top of all the next level rappers, very, very alone on his throne spitting knowledge and facts. But it’s in the family, cause his sis is Ms Dynamite..
💯
Whenever I need cheering up I put this on just to watch you boys buzz of Akala. He is on a different level and to watch your appreciation of his skills is heartwarming.
I do the same thing, but add in "is mad" from JME. Our reaction to that makes me smile every time ✌️🍻
Akala doesn’t need Daves Piano, tell me your not imagining ever single word he speaks. Great reaction guys.🙏🏻🇬🇧
That fire in the booth is one of the few times I can ever remember my skin tingling.. and I've watched it so many times and I still feel it.. reaches your soul
Endz = the Hood, he saying the Hood isn't worth dying for and the only thing that is worth dying for is love.
Amazing reaction guys , love seeing people who appreciate Akala for what he is , the goat 🐐
Barney: Barney Rubble is British cockney rhyming slang for Trouble.
Love yous guys reactions.
Good luck. From London, England 🇬🇧✊✊
Some of the things you guys have said throughout this have been absolutely bang on the money..
Were lucky to have this boy, and every guy like me 50 years old and English and white should study what he says..
I've been listening to rap and hip-hop since day one when we were all kids listening to bambata and cold crush brothers, captain rock or man parish, and every so often a genuine genius comes along.
He is one...
KRS one was a great from my day..
Akala goes on news night and other talk shows here in the UK and absolutely takes no prisoners.
Like ex EDL that's the English defence league, their leader Tommy Robinson, gets absolutely flattened by akala, I'm sure he still to this day does not know what happened.
The guy is a racist prick, who tried to say this and that..
But he never stood a chance with akala and it was a thing if beauty to see him put in his place..
Really appreciate your reaction guys..
Oh and my boy there got it right about 'barney' 😂
Barney rubble / trouble cockney rhyming slang..decent effort that matey..
Oh and the slang of a London yute/youth was another British term lads..
And ends....is a term for neighborhood..
Peace..😎🤟
Thanks 🙏🍻
The thrown overboard from the deck of the Zong line refers to a real incident. The Zong was registered in Liverpool, the crew threw the human cargo overboard and the owners tried to claim for losses from Lloyd's of London. That obviously caused an uproar and was one of the reasons, that Britain closed down the trans Atlantic slave trade. Props for the reaction lads, big up to you.
I’m been bumping Akala for DECADES! He’s the GOAT
Been waiting for this. For my money this is the best rapping I've ever heard, he's just so comfortable while murdering like 6 beats. It's crazy good. Great reaction as always. His daily duppy is worth a look.
A "barney" is a fight/arguement
One of the best FITB by far holyyyyy Akala is real
His lecture at Oxford is worth watching too
When he said " end rnt worth dying for" he means
Your area you live, post code wars (turf wars)
so much love for Akala. What an amazingly well read, eloquent young man who tears opponents apart verbally.
Denis brown is a Jamaican reggae artist from back in the day and that section is my favourite!
And singing like John Holt (who I saw at his last gig before he sadly passed away)
His whole family are super talented
The missing words at 45:07 are "greasy yellow japs". This from the pilot of the Enola Gay. Nice one guys - no. 4 is a monster
Was amazing ✌️🍻
I had the pleasure of watching akala being interviewed about his first novel. My god, when the cameras werent rolling he had us all in stitches (he was being interviewed by a comedian too)
Who was the comedian?
31:28 "Yes there are things worth killing and dying for, ENDS aint one of them tho, what you lying for?"
Your Ends = your Hood
Oi i Love how you said that he needed studying,RIGHT before he stated that he had been....😱😂😂👏👏💜
Low-key fire in booth part 2 is a must ….
This one has the message like the others but the crafting and performance in this, it has the bars, punchlines, word play and attitude but also deep wisdom, and he just has swag in this one, This performance is like a perfect storm
Has it all 🍻
Fantastic reaction, you're the first American reactors that caught all the important bars and seemed to understand and appreciate what Akala does and trust me I've seen every reaction by a big channel and honestly yours was the best, keep up the good work. Also keep going with the UK scene, them man are keeping true hip-hop alive right now
Really appreciate the comment and you checking out our channel, we will definitely be checking out more UK artists we are hooked! 🙏✌️🍻
Did you also notice he never stopped? Then hit us with a written story poem, akala is nuts
Need to do "thieves banquet" by akala. Akala is underrated and unreal!!
He rapped through 6 7 beats lol never disappoints.
#AWAKE
Great reaction guys. Love it when people discover Akala.
Akala and what he pushes is pure conceptual elegance communicated with grit, grace and blood truth.
Protect this man
I watched akala live 3times before this fire in the booth and he did this piece live was insane
And that last beat before the final part was "Dat Boy Akala", one of his early tunes('06),which I remember coming/being out,but only just discovered was from a mixtape he done with his big sis....👀😱🤦♂️😂🔥🔥💜
"Wretch 32 & Avelino FITB" is the fitb Akala is talking about.
👍🍻
Wretch FitB part 5 is one of the best, also Kano's FitB is exceptional
The term Artist is given out freely but Akala is a true Artist
That first half with the beat switches 🤯 some legendary Grime beats also.
Wretch 32 - Fire In The Booth Part 5. 🔥🔥🔥
How early he caught the beat mad me smile, lol I'm also that kinda weirdo
"Yes there are things worth killing and dying for
Ends ain’t one of them tho, why you lying for?" - its very powerfull bar, Ends in english slang like Hood, Trenches, basically different gang zones - "the part of a city or town where a person is from". Every gang member think its worth dying for his end. I'm from different side of the world, but even here its so on point
He says 'mixed with the slang of a London yout' meaning youth but said like the t in toot. Just a slang term from that area. Otherwise known as a colloqualism in language studies. The UK is full of hundreds of different accents and dialects.
Dennis Emmanuel Brown was a Jamaican reggae singer. His prolific career began in the late 1960s
The guy has a gift an knowledge like only a few have - this fire in the booth never gets old... timeless 🤝 respect lads...uk
Oh and Akala setup and runs the hip hop Shakespeare company, that's what he was talking about when he said about teaching kids👏👏
On that note I think you'd REALLY enjoy his Ted talk- "Hip-Hop and Shakespeare". I doubt you'll be able to do a reaction to a 20 minute talk,But I think you'd both enjoy watching that with a beer🤷♂️👏👏🔥
Same with his "Full Address and Q&A" at the Oxford Union. Now that over an hour long, but that is a MUST watch, the knowledge he brings, the stuff you discover you weren't taught at school......👀🔥🔥🔥😱😱😱👊🏻✊👏👏👏👏💜
"Those who talk sense get a line in chalk, those who talk shit get a line of support." One of my favourite bars of Akala. I was gunna complain about all the ads, then I realised that 50 minutes flew by, you had my attention so much I got annoyed everytime an ad came up, watched it all. You said about La Leakers, you should check out Dave's one that he did on there. Great video, definitely check out Wretch 32 as well 👍
Akala is the truth
💯🍻
Love the way we've progressed from burying the mic to padlocking the studio 😅
Dennis Brown was a prolific Jamaican singer from back in the day. Then the bar after that; “I’m like Shabba & Brockie & Dett, bunning down Stratford Rex.” Shabba & Dett are iconic jungle MCs, Brockie is a Jungle DJ. Stratford Rex was a venue home to huge Jungle raves in the 90s. Would love to see some American’s react to some old rave videos 😂
_"Bunnin down oldskool Stratford Rex..."_
Weren't we all.. Good times 😪🙏🏻🍻
I love it you both get this shit and see how underrated Akala is, all down to speaking truth to power.
I appreciate you guys, love from UK 👊 Akala the goat
We appreciate you and we appreciate good music 🍻✌️
As slaves, we were the first STOCK, hence Stock Market. We were each given a value to our "owners".
Life, (if you could call it that), aboard the slave ships was truly barbaric. 400+ souls laid end to end and cheek to Jowell, shackled below deck for up to 23hrs a day; more if the weather was bad. No toilets or bathrooms, you shit and pissed where you lay! The journey could take anything from 2 -6 months, depending on the prevailing winds, (no motors or engines on these vessels, remember. Diseased slaves were disposed of by throwing them overboard. The same was done to those slaves that were claimed to be disobedient or unruly, by the crew and claimed as Underwritten Stock when they docked! Such was the stench of human waste and rotting flesh, it was said that these ships could be smelled up to 5 miles away coming into port and every slave that somehow manager to live would be lying around a foot deep in their own excrement! The Xong, Akala mentioned during his spoken piece, was one of those ships.
History 101, Gentlemen🙏
Barney is slang for a fight
When he says ends that in the USA would be what you would call ur block or your area
“Those that talk sense get outlined in chalk, those that talk shit get a line of support, right round the block for the minds that they bought”
FACTS.
Probably one of my favourite bars because it's applicable to life
wretch 32 FITB 3 & 5 are mind blowing
The story in the history and the level the flow bars visual crazyyyy! Akala is an animal ! Love the reaction 👏🏽💯🧠
great reaction guys, really glad youve made it through the Akala FITB journey...its epic for sure, looking forward to the wretch 32 reactions, his doubles are crazy. i would suggest the wretch and avelino FITB if you havent seen it yet, and the wretch 32 FITB 5 goes in as well, also worth checking out wretch his and hers perpectives if i havent already suggested it, its a studio track but really does look at different perpectives its a well thought out song. also the wretch 32 daily duppys are a must as well! haha im sure ive suggested these before but all are worth a watch. one love
FINALLY!
I've been waiting for this one since you did part 1. Been a frustrating wait - but more than worth it. Best reaction to the best fitb recorded to date (I'm still holding onto hope Akala goes back for part 5 at some point)! 🙌
Thanks for sticking with us!!!
So you guys know, "ends" is London slag for neighbourhoods, e.g., "Don't come down to our end". So when he talks about ends not being worth killing and dying for, he's talking about gang turf wars and that kind of thing
You guys have got to react to Mic Righteous - Fire in the booth part 3. It's also legendary and widely regarded as one of the best FITB. Akala and Mic are also good friends
Knowledge of Timbuktu mixed with the slang of a london yout (youth)
Bingo
Check out Lowkey fire in the booth part 1 and 2. Lowkey is akalas close friend and they are similar in terms of lyricism. his first fire in the booth shows off his lyricism and the 2nd one is more deep.
Cool
Yes
Thank you guys. Great way to see out the weekend. Solid reaction, good vibes. Knowledge is Power 👊🏻
Been waiting on this.... it was everything I thought it would be. You need to drop Wretch 32 and Avelino - Fire in the booth and Wretch 32 - FITB 5.... Let's run this ting! 🔥💯🔥
He's a machine 🔥😆 love him one of the best from over here. Amazing reaction just wanted to say appreciate the long video can imagine it must have taken time 🙂
Thanks for watching it, we always worry people won't watch a long video 🙏🍻
The Ends is UK slang for your block (usually the outskirts)
You need to check out some more Fire in the booths
Lowkey-part 2 ( this man will blow you away)
Wretch 32- part 5
Kano-
K Koke-
Jordan-
This is amazing, really next level stuff that put Akala far away from any other competition from anywhere I've heard but he's an enlightened thinker who clearly has an astonishingly high IQ. I also love his daily duppy because they get a few minutes to showcase their talent and he decided to do something different and for me the result was amazing. I do love daily duppy to see how different artists approach the set. Listening to Akala's, Bugzy's latest motivational one, Jordan's (2nd part talking about his struggles) and the brilliant Ghetts ft. Giggs - Crud. These folk are astonishingly good for different reasons.
Well said and thank you for the recommendations 🍻
Akala- find no enemy is an amazing piece also. Powerful message. Can’t wait to see you guys react to that !
A barny is another term for a fight in the UK. And you were right when you heard London youth except he send London yout which is just a slang term for youth
Thank you for reacting to this inspirational genius, from part 1 to 4 just awesome. Congrats on the 12k subs, much love from New Zealand.
Thank you, 🙏🍻
The 2nd half is pure Art
Also a “Barney” is a uk work for beef or an argument/fight yeah haha
Love you appreciate this..needs more attention
Akala’s got big love over here. One of a kind!
Definitely recommend yous listen to another legend in the booth, Mic Righteous. Yous won’t be disappointed💙🏴
"The knowledge of Timbuktu mixed with the slang of a London youth"
UK rappers say 'youth' as 'yoot' with a silent 't' at the end
Great vid, great reaction! looks like you guys had a ball! Always a pleasure to see Americans discovering Akala
We had a great time truly amazing!!! ✌️🍻
Yeah it's the jamaican influence, along with "slew"
"Barney" is a traditional slang word for argument or fight
Akala is the UK G.O.A.T. 🐐🔥🔥🔥
Class reaction lads, it’s so good that sometimes I don’t believe you haven’t researched bits as your understanding and insight is so on the money..! The clinking of your glasses shows your utter joy at listening to a master at work.
Appreciate that very much we are still very new to UK music but very impressed so far ✌️🍻
"Endz" means your hood. So endz aint worth dying for. A lot of our youth are killing each other over different "endz" or post codes.
You nailed it with the Barney Rubble! Exactly right
A K A L A there is no synonym.
Great reaction guys love the genuine reactions the most and yes barney is a fight 👏 👍
Thank you 🙏🍻
Slang of a London youth
100% Akala as he says himself - he is totally separate!
Barney is an argument. Also when he says some things are worth dying for but the ends is not one of them, the ends is the streets, the block you grew up on.
Yes lads, isn't that just incredible. The man's an another level.
Never expected dude on the right to know cockney rhyming slang. Few others is apple's and pear's=stairs, dog and bone=phone. Barney means fighting all over this country though so I don't know. Cockneys are only from London. I'm from the north and I say it.
The Timbuktu line is followed by the heart of a London yout.. Which means youth or young person.
Endz ain't worth dying for
Thats the post code gang wars. We call it *"The Endz"*
Wow this was 2016.Praise the beer and more importantly Akalas bars... let's go 👍👍👍💯
Well said 🍻✌️
Yes, yes and YES! Loving your reactions to our UK talent 💜 -x-
Ends means your area. So when he says, dying for your ends is not worth it he’s saying don’t die for your hood & also he says he is a London Yute. Yute is a Jamaican term for Youth. So he’s saying mixed with the slang of a London youth lol. Love the vids ❤
Thanks for the clarification 🙏🍻
@@BeersBars no problem brothers. More U.K. reactions needed! 👌🏼
Just found your guys channel. Brilliant!! Thank you. Akala is a poet extrordinaire. It was like watching a film the way he describes everything. Anyway love bro Alex UK.
Welcome to the Buzz Fam, we got a ton of UK playlists you can check out ✌️🍻
guys I have watch all 4 of your reacts for Akala, i love your honstey and your appreciation of his skill. I love watching people discover his pure talent!
he said London yout (youth)
also ends is your post code or your hood in American slang.
Thank you we appreciate it 🍻✌️
Props guys, nobody gets the Steve Biko line
