Churches are associated with religion and schools with, well, school. Then there was the Boston Marathon bombing way back, though that was with more people.
There's always the threat from angry drunks / random violence. But as far as a planned, mass shooting, I would say only if beaches get associated with something a large enough group resents. Good looking people maybe? I don't think they are typically populated enough to be worthwhile for a terrorist aiming for sheer numbers, but I could be wrong.

Sadly this event is not representative to what it used to be even 5-6 years ago. I since have gone back to a GO TOPLESS event due to the stupidity and trash left behind. A jeep event taken over by side by sides, mud trucks, 1/2 ton pickups, corvettes and so much more. This is not the jeep community. I'm sure some did contribute to it but the majority of jeepers I know...do not stand for this kind of behavior to our beaches and first responders.
Why would the "jeep community" attract a better ilk than any other vehicle "community"? To me, at the end of the day, all I see are inconsiderate morons overrunning a beautiful, peaceful beach with obnoxious vehicles for no particular reason other than because they can. When I was in the military I spent a few years in Germany. No one drinks more beer than Germans. I loved to go to their street fests and their 1000 year anniversary celebrations of a village or city's founding. Wine fests to Octoberfest, you name it. I saw many Germans who had had too much to drink. BUT....In the many years I was there I never saw two Germans actually come to blows. They would yell and they would insult but they would never throw a punch. At least that was how it was when I was there. Conversely, the only fights I did see in Germany were ALWAYS between a group of drunk GI's. Usually started by someone wanting to know why someone else was looking at them or someone's rude behavior, etc. So we expect it to be different here? Not going to happen. Just a lot more offensive Neanderthal drunks looking for a reason to hit someone. And it usually doesn't take much of a reason. I mean throw a sucker punch and be a hero. Best to give these "booze celebrations" a wide birth.

South beach Miami was super sweet and peaceful when I was a teen in the mid 70’s through the early 80’s.
Back then the Art Deco upgrades and the rich started buying abandoned buildings and property
where homeless Vietnam Vet junkies and hippies lived for free.
After everything was cleaned up and Miami Beach picked back up it’s rhythm around the late 80’s and 90’s, the boneheads started to flood the streets.
Today South Beach is a disaster thanx to the new breed that moved in. Crime and violence has risen, assaults on whites and Latinos has risen, and the use of hard drugs is everywhere.
Police are underpaid and overworked. Boneheads have taken away our beaches here in Miami and it’s happening everywhere.

I started going to this back in 2014 and this was not how it was. When y’all call it jeep weekend, y’all are projecting to everyone that Jeep people are the ones causing all the trash. Go back and look at it many yrs ago when we had over 3000 Jeeps and then look at the beach the next day vs this time. There was more regular vehicles (trucks cars and sxs) than there was Jeeps from what I’ve seen. They have destroyed this day for us enthusiasts.

Couldn't have said it better 👏 I use to take mine down there with HJP but it started going downhill about 5 or 6 yrs ago . Used to be 5 miles of jeeps lined up water and dune side with no problems.
