I was a high school and college teacher for thirty years. In that time, I've seen some of these "inappropriate relationships". Here's some things they all had in common: 1. The teachers doing this are always very popular with students but have a reputation for being immature. 2. The administration will try to cover it up if they can. The public never hear of the majority of these cases. 3. Men and women offend in roughly equal numbers. 3. Men and women offenders are treated differently. In the last five cases that happened at schools where I taught, three men had sex with students and two women. The three men were all charged criminally; the two women were not. One of the two women had sex with at least eight students and exhibited no remorse. She's married and she and her husband are still together. 4. Teachers who report this bad behavior of their colleagues are punished and ostracized. I know, because I was one of those teachers. I reported a very popular English teacher for having sex with her students after one of the students confided in me. I had to leave the school the following year because I was harassed by staff and administration after she was forced to resign. 5. Most teachers who do this are allowed to quietly resign mid-school year and go on to teach elsewhere. Everyone on staff knows who the offending teachers are, and turn a blind eye. Cops have the Blue Wall of Silence; teachers have the Chalk Wall of Silence.

I was a teacher aide when I was 20 and I taught in middle School and young kids came up to me and we vibe alot and make jokes and all that, but everything has a limit, specially when u are consider a teacher, counselor or any professional, I was very popular because I was the young teacher, but I respected my students like anyone else. The young teachers have a difficult time differentiating that they are adults and they are no longer kids. The obsession in our society with youth is one factor in this problem.

Some people cannot handle being around this many minors without acting like them. I remember the worrying behavior I saw at my own high school two teachers were arrested, one unrelated was fired, and some were acting shady but never anything proven. It is sad and disgusting.

Had a Science teacher in 8th grade who was fresh out of college, he was probably 24 or 26. He was pretty handsome, and had ALL the girls' attention. He was VERY uncomfortable with it, and on our 8th grade field trip to Washington DC to visit the Smithsonian, he made SURE that his chaperone group of students was all male, and that the female chaperones got all the girls. He wanted to steer clear of that situation as much as possible. lol. With the guys, he was sure to tell us "Just because I'm closer to your age than most of your other teachers, I'm not here to be your friend; but that doesn't mean we have to be enemies."
I went to school with a girl that was 2 grades below me. We graduated she went to school and became a teacher. Went right back to our high school to teach and got caught sleeping with a student outside of school. She got like 3 years probation and spent 2 monthes in jail. Just a drop in the bucket compared to males sentence. Men are considered predatory because they have the part that goes into something being seen as more aggressive and because women have more ( passive) genitals men get marked as malicious.

My chorus teacher in high school used to flirt shamelessly with the teenage boys. And she had weird competitive/ jealous dynamics with the girls. She absolutely detested me for some reason, and I honestly think it was because she was so jealous of any girl she thought was a threat to her flirt territorial domain. I had an English lanugage teacher in high school (married) who had thick lips, a curvy figure and a massive posterior. I noticed that she would get real friendly with one of the boys in my class and the two would often be seen chatting with each other but I have no evidence they were romantically involved. I was not the only one who thought they were flirting but it made me real uncomfortable that it was literally happening in front of my eyes along with the thirty other students in class. Honestly, the idea of a legal age is so muddy because it all comes down to maturity and education to reduce the chances of getting taken advantage of but the issue is that everyone is different and will not mature mentally or grasp subjects as quickly as others. To say that at a certain someone is legally allowed to be held accountable for themselves is just for the sake of an expectation that in that number of years, they will have enough common sense to do the right thing but we still have people well into their twenties and above doing some crazy stuff in the world. The idea that everything goes as long as it's consensual is threatened by the points mentioned earlier. People are just wild creatures.

I just had a talk with a friend about someone in my neighborhood who's 8 months pregnant. She's my age, 36, and the boy is 18 which means that she got pregnant by him when he was just 17. We hear all the time about how dangerous and predatorial men are but we down play it when it's a woman doing it. We also talked about how boys are being taught to look at it as a win to be with an older woman while girls are the victims when it's the other way around. I think both should be equally condemned. It's not okay female or male.
It's predatorial when anyone does it with an age gap that wide. An 18 year old senior who graduated this year is dating my 13 year old brother despite us telling him he isn't allowed. He broke up with her a few months ago and dated a girl his age and the ex's family harassed him into taking her back. One of her older brothers even held my other brother at point blank range over a dispute.
Has anyone actually considered that colleges are soft-peddling this type of abuse and even redefining it to terms like 'Minor-Attracted' and such. Our colleges teaching nowadays have preached that this activity is simply another choice and removed morality from the discussion. Now, in this case - the unlawful contact is being identified and if pornographic material was exchanged / transmitted electronically etc. involving someone under 18 years of age , that's another story but again in no case would someone over 18 and and their sex partner 16 years or older be charged with a crime for the sexual relations themselves . It's actually not the age by itself that makes this illegal. In the state of Pennsylvania the age of consent is 16. It's the fact that the teacher was in a position of authority AND the student under 18.

So they're adults in one case and a child in the other. You wanna see something that's really effed up? Look up the Nick Olivas case. He was 14 when he had sex with a 20 year old woman. She got pregnant and he didn't know that he was a father for 8 years. She went to court and put him on child support which they granted. Of course she was not charged with rape.

This sort of thing has always gone on. I remember back in the 70's and 80's teachers getting students pregnant and they were still working as teachers. Looking back, I can't believe that none of those teachers were charged or at least fired. Many people might say: back in the old days these types of things didn't happen. Well, they did happen. It just wasn't reported.
I spent more years in school than many others, being kicked out at 20 years of age and have never even heard a rumor of anything like that, and the schools I attended weren't known for being good schools. I was personally in plenty of fights and drank and smoked on school property, had a gun pulled on me, etc, and won't pretend school was a paradise at the time. But while things have gone on since the dawn of time, I think changes over the past few decades or so in the education system overall are immense and have been having a dramatic negative impact on society, and I believe things such as the story in the video above are becoming far more common.
My geometry teacher in 1986 was one of those guys. Got inappropriate with an underage student, but he married her when she turned 18. School didn't do anything about that then.

It's been 30 years since I was in high school and I swear nothing's changed. Couple of the teachers back then got arrested for exactly the same thing she done. I can remember one of them he had a relationships with four or five different girls. both male and female teachers involved in different cases. I can still remember a lot of the female teachers flirting with the football players and other students. It's kind of weird. I taught college and a few students made inappropriate offers to pass a course but why a teacher goes down that road I don't know. One of my students said they would do anything to pass my class. I told them you can show up to class and do your damn work.

I became a teacher late in life. I was shocked at how teachers communicate with students and parents electronically outside the classroom. I refused to do it, even though some administrators and parents thought it appropriate and necessary. If I needed to talk to a parent, I called from a school phone and I always returned their calls is they left me a message...at school. I told my students that if you have any questions, see me in the classroom during class or after school. That's it. One female teacher I knew thought it was so great that one of her male high students texted her at 11pm about his homework. Are you kidding me? Another problem is that due to low pay, a lot of teachers are young and inexperienced. We had 22 year-old substitutes who had no business being in a classroom with students not that much younger. Unfortunately, older teachers, especially men, are stigmatized, ie creepy old men, and you don't see older male teachers like you did prior to the 90's.
School in the sixties . No communication outside the school . No knowledge of a teacher's private life . If you asked one on a Monday morning what they did at the weekend you would be told "None of your f------g business". Only knew if a female was married if she was Mrs as opposed to Miss or Ms. To be honest that's the way i liked as in secondary school (UK) i hated everyone of the b------s .
Thank you for the kind words. There is a wealth of people out there in their 50's and 60's who could be wonderful teachers with lots of life experience to share. There are multiple reasons there are not. I had to pay $5000 out of my pocket to get fast tracked to teach in high school despite 25+ years of training experience in the government and corporate word...that's $5000 to take a HUGE pay cut. There was no funding available to help pay for this. I'm a teacher (middle school level). While I've never been aware of any substantiated allegations at my site, I do recall some shenanigans back when I was in high school. It was over a decade before the teacher in question finally got caught and fired. These kinds of crimes are why I cannot even be in a room with a student with the door closed. When a student comes in during lunch for help, I even let them know when they enter that I'm opening the door so that we're not alone. Then, we work BY that opened door. Once a female student asked me why I always propped the door open immediately (she was very sharp). I explain that teachers should never be in a room with a student alone and if it's unavoidable, the door MUST be open. These days I realize, however, that the danger extends to inappropriate communication outside of the school day. I try to teach my students about these dangers, too. Some of us teachers are really trying to keep the kids safe.

@@SM-ge7ee No it is not, women sexually mature earlier than men, so by the time a girl is in the range of 14-15-16-17 she is at her hormonal peak and sexually ready to conceive. And men by the other hand, need more than fertility to be considered mature, so by the time we're 20-21-22-23 we are at our hormonal peak when our brains become fully developed. It is NOT a coincidence these younger girls very often bond with these older boys, it's pure nature. I'm 22 at the moment and the amount of looks I get from young girls is very depicting of this dynamic.
Seems like most of these situations are women teachers who are molesting students- male or female students- I was molested by a female baby sitter when I was 5 years old- back when it happened and growing up- the idea that women were sexual predators was unheard of- and to even bring up the idea would be unconsiousable and you would be ridiculed and labeled as crazy- so obviously I kept it to myself - every time I see a female teacher caught being a sexual predator I am glad that the perception is shifting in society- and I also don’t feel all alone - it’s a very isolating feeling that even compounds the affects of the sexual abuse- all sexual abuse is abuse and it has long term life long traumatic psychological disorders that come with it- I never had any girl friends in elementary school junior high or high school and I missed out on normal dating - I missed out in major events that were important to young children like home coming dances and prom- I was severely traumatized and I still to this day have not ever psychologically recovered- the sexual acts that those who are adults engage in with children rewires a young child’s brain making them unable to process “normal” relationships. It doesn’t matter if the child was a girl or a boy and the adult was the same sex or opposite sex- the acts will rewire the child’s brain permanently. I didn’t deserve the childhood I was given. I didn’t deserve the abuse I have had to go through in my life- and this child along with all the other children who have ever been sexually abused or taken advantage of will all have mental and psychological challenges for the rest of their lives. They will never view relationships the same way they did before they were violated.

I think these issues always existed their just now being reported and brought to light. I went to a high school where a male teacher was dating a student and and his son who also was a teacher in the same school did the same. I don’t remember them ever getting in trouble for it.

As a former teacher, I can say that I knew of a few women who would groom young men for years. As soon as the kid graduated, it was go time. It was some of the sleaziest shit I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t illegal though. If you’re willing to wait, you won’t get in trouble.
In our town a teacher cheated on her husband with one of her students and her husband reported her. They didn't do anything because the student had just turned 18. She had to resign and lost her whole life because of it. Her student didn't even stay with her he broke up with her a year after they went public with their new relationship.
I know of 2 men today who met their high school teacher wives as high school seniors. All these years later. One was married to the teacher by the 5 year reunion. The other secretly married but they had to leave town with a child on the way. They all had good lives.

I coached high schoolers while in college and after. I don’t understand how anyone who has a passion to work with kids would ever in a million years sleep with them. I was 20 years old and I kept a hard line with all the kids I worked with. They would always try and cross the line, but I corrected them every single time! Number one lesson, Never let them call you by your first name. Kids will constantly try and push this line, you must be punished if so. I would make them run Laps if they called me by my first name. There is no playful banter, you have to be a disciplinarian. As soon as you break any rules you have laid down the law, they will always take advantage of you.
Thing law should be same for both parties . Both charged with same offence and same sentence given and then students would be more likely to keep it in their pants or legs closed in case of females. As it stands students know they will be in no trouble when exposed and most unlikely to really bother that the teacher will be i serious trouble

I was a high school and college teacher for thirty years. In that time, I've seen some of these "inappropriate relationships". Here's some things they all had in common:
1. The teachers doing this are always very popular with students but have a reputation for being immature.
2. The administration will try to cover it up if they can. The public never hear of the majority of these cases.
3. Men and women offend in roughly equal numbers.
3. Men and women offenders are treated differently. In the last five cases that happened at schools where I taught, three men had sex with students and two women. The three men were all charged criminally; the two women were not. One of the two women had sex with at least eight students and exhibited no remorse. She's married and she and her husband are still together.
4. Teachers who report this bad behavior of their colleagues are punished and ostracized. I know, because I was one of those teachers. I reported a very popular English teacher for having sex with her students after one of the students confided in me. I had to leave the school the following year because I was harassed by staff and administration after she was forced to resign.
5. Most teachers who do this are allowed to quietly resign mid-school year and go on to teach elsewhere. Everyone on staff knows who the offending teachers are, and turn a blind eye. Cops have the Blue Wall of Silence; teachers have the Chalk Wall of Silence.

I was a teacher aide when I was 20 and I taught in middle School and young kids came up to me and we vibe alot and make jokes and all that, but everything has a limit, specially when u are consider a teacher, counselor or any professional, I was very popular because I was the young teacher, but I respected my students like anyone else.
Also I learned from this experience>>>> when I was young I was living in Florida in middle school and there was a police officer who taught dare class in the school, and he used to kind of flirt with me I was like 13 and he was like 30, he would stare at me for time to time and even one day I went to his office with my mom and he was just into me, and I knew what was going on, but did not say anything, specially because Im Hispanic and he was white, and I didn't know alot of english, neither I wanted to ruin his career, tho after couples of months I had to move from that school for grades purposes, and I'm glad I did, cuz he was hella weird :/

Some people cannot handle being around this many minors without acting like them. I remember the worrying behavior I saw at my own high school two teachers were arrested, one unrelated was fired, and some were acting shady but never anything proven. It is sad and disgusting.

Had a Science teacher in 8th grade who was fresh out of college, he was probably 24 or 26. He was pretty handsome, and had ALL the girls' attention. He was VERY uncomfortable with it, and on our 8th grade field trip to Washington DC to visit the Smithsonian, he made SURE that his chaperone group of students was all male, and that the female chaperones got all the girls. He wanted to steer clear of that situation as much as possible. lol. I went to school with a girl that was 2 grades below me. We graduated she went to school and became a teacher. Went right back to our high school to teach and got caught sleeping with a student outside of school. She got like 3 years probation and spent 2 monthes in jail. Just a drop in the bucket compared to males sentence. Men are considered predatory because they have the part that goes into something being seen as more aggressive and because women have more ( passive) genitals men get marked as malicious.

My chorus teacher in high school used to flirt shamelessly with the teenage boys. And she had weird competitive/ jealous dynamics with the girls. She absolutely detested me for some reason, and I honestly think it was because she was so jealous of any girl she thought was a threat to her flirt territorial domain. I had an English lanugage teacher in high school (married) who had thick lips, a curvy figure and a massive posterior. I noticed that she would get real friendly with one of the boys in my class and the two would often be seen chatting with each other but I have no evidence they were romantically involved. I was not the only one who thought they were flirting but it made me real uncomfortable that it was literally happening in front of my eyes along with the thirty other students in class. Honestly, the idea of a legal age is so muddy because it all comes down to maturity and education to reduce the chances of getting taken advantage of but the issue is that everyone is different and will not mature mentally or grasp subjects as quickly as others. To say that at a certain someone is legally allowed to be held accountable for themselves is just for the sake of an expectation that in that number of years, they will have enough common sense to do the right thing but we still have people well into their twenties and above doing some crazy stuff in the world. The idea that everything goes as long as it's consensual is threatened by the points mentioned earlier. People are just wild creatures.

I just had a talk with a friend about someone in my neighborhood who's 8 months pregnant. She's my age, 36, and the boy is 18 which means that she got pregnant by him when he was just 17. We hear all the time about how dangerous and predatorial men are but we down play it when it's a woman doing it. We also talked about how boys are being taught to look at it as a win to be with an older woman while girls are the victims when it's the other way around. I think both should be equally condemned. Pretty sure one of my teachers was doing stuff with students, but unfortunately for me, I looked like I was 10 years old until I was 20.
This sort of thing has always gone on. I remember back in the 70's and 80's teachers getting students pregnant and they were still working as teachers. Looking back, I can't believe that none of those teachers were charged or at least fired. Many people might say: back in the old days these types of things didn't happen. Well, they did happen. It just wasn't reported.
I spent more years in school than many others, being kicked out at 20 years of age and have never even heard a rumor of anything like that, and the schools I attended weren't known for being good schools. I was personally in plenty of fights and drank and smoked on school property, had a gun pulled on me, etc, and won't pretend school was a paradise at the time. But while things have gone on since the dawn of time, I think changes over the past few decades or so in the education system overall are immense and have been having a dramatic negative impact on society, and I believe things such as the story in the video above are becoming far more common.

It's been 30 years since I was in high school and I swear nothing's changed. Couple of the teachers back then got arrested for exactly the same thing she done. I can remember one of them he had a relationships with four or five different girls. both male and female teachers involved in different cases. I can still remember a lot of the female teachers flirting with the football players and other students. It's kind of weird. I taught college and a few students made inappropriate offers to pass a course but why a teacher goes down that road I don't know. One of my students said they would do anything to pass my class. I told them you can show up to class and do your damn work.

I became a teacher late in life. I was shocked at how teachers communicate with students and parents electronically outside the classroom. I refused to do it, even though some administrators and parents thought it appropriate and necessary. If I needed to talk to a parent, I called from a school phone and I always returned their calls is they left me a message...at school. I told my students that if you have any questions, see me in the classroom during class or after school. That's it. One female teacher I knew thought it was so great that one of her male high students texted her at 11pm about his homework. Are you kidding me? Another problem is that due to low pay, a lot of teachers are young and inexperienced. We had 22 year-old substitutes who had no business being in a classroom with students not that much younger. Unfortunately, older teachers, especially men, are stigmatized, ie creepy old men, and you don't see older male teachers like you did prior to the 90's.
School in the sixties . No communication outside the school . No knowledge of a teacher's private life . If you asked one on a Monday morning what they did at the weekend you would be told "None of your f------g business". Only knew if a female was married if she was Mrs as opposed to Miss or Ms. To be honest that's the way i liked as in secondary school (UK) i hated everyone of the b------s .

There are multiple reasons there are not. I had to pay $5000 out of my pocket to get fast tracked to teach in high school despite 25+ years of training experience in the government and corporate word...that's $5000 to take a HUGE pay cut. There was no funding available to help pay for this. big problem is that very young and immature teachers are filling the gaps of older teachers that have had enough of the bs in public school system. children teaching children. god help us.
I'm a teacher (middle school level). While I've never been aware of any substantiated allegations at my site, I do recall some shenanigans back when I was in high school. It was over a decade before the teacher in question finally got caught and fired.
These kinds of crimes are why I cannot even be in a room with a student with the door closed. When a student comes in during lunch for help, I even let them know when they enter that I'm opening the door so that we're not alone. Then, we work BY that opened door.
Once a female student asked me why I always propped the door open immediately (she was very sharp). I explain that teachers should never be in a room with a student alone and if it's unavoidable, the door MUST be open.
These days I realize, however, that the danger extends to inappropriate communication outside of the school day. I try to teach my students about these dangers, too.
Some of us teachers are really trying to keep the kids safe.

It is NOT a coincidence these younger girls very often bond with these older boys, it's pure nature. I'm 22 at the moment and the amount of looks I get from young girls is very depicting of this dynamic.

Seems like most of these situations are women teachers who are molesting students- male or female students- I was molested by a female baby sitter when I was 5 years old- back when it happened and growing up- the idea that women were sexual predators was unheard of- and to even bring up the idea would be unconsiousable and you would be ridiculed and labeled as crazy- so obviously I kept it to myself - every time I see a female teacher caught being a sexual predator I am glad that the perception is shifting in society- and I also don’t feel all alone - it’s a very isolating feeling that even compounds the affects of the sexual abuse- all sexual abuse is abuse and it has long term life long traumatic psychological disorders that come with it- I never had any girl friends in elementary school junior high or high school and I missed out on normal dating - I missed out in major events that were important to young children like home coming dances and prom- I was severely traumatized and I still to this day have not ever psychologically recovered- the sexual acts that those who are adults engage in with children rewires a young child’s brain making them unable to process “normal” relationships. It doesn’t matter if the child was a girl or a boy and the adult was the same sex or opposite sex- the acts will rewire the child’s brain permanently. I didn’t deserve the childhood I was given. I didn’t deserve the abuse I have had to go through in my life- and this child along with all the other children who have ever been sexually abused or taken advantage of will all have mental and psychological challenges for the rest of their lives. They will never view relationships the same way they did before they were violated.

I think these issues always existed their just now being reported and brought to light. I went to a high school where a male teacher was dating a student and and his son who also was a teacher in the same school did the same. I don’t remember them ever getting in trouble for it.

As a former teacher, I can say that I knew of a few women who would groom young men for years. As soon as the kid graduated, it was go time. It was some of the sleaziest shit I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t illegal though. If you’re willing to wait, you won’t get in trouble.

In our town a teacher cheated on her husband with one of her students and her husband reported her. They didn't do anything because the student had just turned 18. She had to resign and lost her whole life because of it. Her student didn't even stay with her he broke up with her a year after they went public with their new relationship.

I coached high schoolers while in college and after. I don’t understand how anyone who has a passion to work with kids would ever in a million years sleep with them. I was 20 years old and I kept a hard line with all the kids I worked with. They would always try and cross the line, but I corrected them every single time! Number one lesson, Never let them call you by your first name. Kids will constantly try and push this line, you must be punished if so. I would make them run Laps if they called me by my first name. There is no playful banter, you have to be a disciplinarian. As soon as you break any rules you have laid down the law, they will always take advantage of you.
Thing law should be same for both parties . Both charged with same offence and same sentence given and then students would be more likely to keep it in their pants or legs closed in case of females. As it stands students know they will be in no trouble when exposed and most unlikely to really bother that the teacher will be i serious trouble
