Key West Day 1 of 7 Arrival Day (Part 1 of 5)

We finally made it to the Florida Keys!
We are taking an RV cross country road trip adventure for the first time and the Florida Keys was our main destination when planning this trip.
I have wanted to go the Keys for such a long time, we have flown over them several times going on other trips and now we finally made it. I was excited to see the pretty water, do some paddle boarding, snorkeling, see the cute houses and try all the Key Lime Pie that I could, and the Keys didn't disappoint, well the Key Lime pie did a little :)
I was warned the the drive across the Overseas Highway was a long one and then there was 7 Mile Bridge we would be crossing with our trailer behind us, but it was all a piece of cake, and it went by so fast because there was so many islands to drive through and things to look at out the windows. We even crossed the entire Overseas Highway an additional time later in our trip and it was still fun.
We were able to stay at Bluewater Key RV Resort, which is one of the fancy RV resorts in the Keys. We booked our RV site in August for April, I have read that you have to be on top of it a reserve 1 year in advance, and Boyds was full when we booked but Bluewater had a few different sites available when we booked and we loved Bluewater Key, we would love to stay the again someday.
We didn't waste anytime when we got to Bluewater Key, we backed in, with the help of their employee which was so nice, leveled it and immediately got in the water, paddling over to see our friends who were traveling with us.
Our first day travel day schedule:
* 6:30am - 2:45pm Drove from Orlando to Bluewater Key
* 3:15pm Get out paddle boarding!
* 7:00pm Drive into Key West for dinner
* Dinner at Blue Heaven - one of our favorite restaurants and my first Key West Key Lime Pie
* 9:30pm Back at RV resort
Our first day in the Keys and I already knew a week wasn't going to be enough, no matter how much I squeezed in, and you will see, it was a lot! :)

We stayed at Bluewater Key RV Resort, it was expensive but beautiful. Every site is individually owned so they are all decorated differently. For instance we stayed on the canal side and most of those had chairs by the water and decor along with the other amenities like fridge and tv. Our friends site was more expensive on the ocean side and was very basic, without additional dock chairs and decor, I personally liked the canal side better.

Oh you are going to love it there! We were actually assigned site 3 but were put in site 4 because they were improving site 3 during our stay, since both are owned by the same people, your site should look similar if not nicer to the one we stayed in. I hope you enjoy your trip and amazing site!

I love Blue Heaven. It is our go to brunch place.

I am really regretting not going to brunch there since I loved their dinner so much. Next time we are there I will know to skip Firefly's brunch and go to Blue Heaven instead.
