We lived on our sailboat in Key West from August 2018 to March 2019. Loved every second! Irish Kevin's was our fave! My husband worked at the World's Smallest Bar briefly while I worked at Kermits Key Lime Shoppe. Cannot wait to visit there again!

I was stationed in the coast guard there in the 80s. Its changed a lot! Lots of cool memories.

My husband, daughter and I went to Key West Feb ‘19 and had a blast for the 3 days we were there! Some highlights were A Sunset cruise, dinner at Blue Heaven, the butteryfly conservatory and Smather’s beach. Can’t wait to go back !!! Loved it there!!! Thanks for the tip of the run distillery and the Cuban coffee place for next time !!

Super nice job of showcasing Key West, excellent video and editing work, we live in Nashville, but we keep our sailboat, a Dana 24, in a slip at Key West municipal marina, my girlfriend teaches at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, so we can only travel from May to August, we usually just sail the Florida coastlines, all the outer islands around the keys including the Dry Tortugas and depending on the weather and hurricane activity we do go to the Bahamas quite often.........

Word of advice. If you visit Key West for a three or four day weekend vacation don't plan it too far in advance. I planned my trip in July for a 3 day weekend for early December and a freak tropical system just sat there and it rained on my entire trip.
Great video! Would love to see a locals only video... Like a few people here, I lived in KW. 2001-2003 (inclusive). Many of the locals-oriented spots that I knew are gone (R.I.P Java Lounge) and Key West seems a lot more gentrified now but something about KW and its magic will always remain. Would love to see the place from your eyes.

Fun video, we visited the Keys on the cheap. We flew into Miami rented a SUV and slept in the back in bar parking lots all the way down the Keys and back, one of our favorite vacations!! It was cool to see the sights in your video that we had visited a on that trip!!

You can't go wrong with Key West a good party town! I always liked the cat guy at Mallory square. He has house cats jumping through rings of fire!!! I was down there a month ago and he's still there. I use to go there in the early 70's we'd drink all the way down the overseas hwy. There was Rastaman who was a contortionist he could fold himself up in a little box. It was amazing! And Fantasy Fest it Great!!! OM KALI MA!
LOVE KEY WEST, never gets old, go there about 2-3x per year.
I saw your grocery run and the "selective law enforcement" is one of the main reasons I left after living there for years. But I am glad to see you had fun there too.

Well done! We’ve been to Key West 7-8 times, including Fantasy Fest couple of years ago (post Irma); we love Key West and are missing it so very much - your video was like going there! You captured the spirit of the place in amazing breadth; the only things I’d add would be Hemingway’s house, the Truman White House, the Butterfly place, La Ti Da!, and the Farmer’s Market once a month near the dog park... gosh we miss KY!
I never even thought of visiting Key West and now it is on my to do list! (long way from Aus!) Love the 'did it all in one day' experience. I love going hard on holidays! (need a holiday after tho!)

The 'Key West Bar Card' is a great way to have fun and save a lot of $$$. Gets you any drink 2-4-1 at nearly 20 bars and restaurants daily. They also have a Restaurant Card and an Activities card to save more cash.

Fun to see it more depth. Wife and I rode around the island on a scooter. Saw the southern most point. Saw the Hemingway House and the Truman House. Sadly, didn't get to any of those cool eaterys or Duvall Street. Thanks

We enjoy Key West and coming again soon for the lobster catching fun. We have been to most of the locations you mentioned...including Garden of Eden, which was kind of fun...but will need to try the lighthouse and Flying Monkey for sure. I hope to find your locals video soon before our trip.
JUST Found you guys. I spent a lot of time in KW a couple of decades ago with my dad and his Yawl. It was nice to see what had changed downtown, it's gotten more congested since I was last there. We anchored where you guys are but closer to the Island to the west. We always worried about getting our dingy stolen but we never locked it. I guess it was different back then. Anyway, not to encourage the alcohol consumption but I'm with ya. Enjoy life.
Key west is awesome I'm here now, ate at blue heaven 😉👍went north of Duval street was a parade and the harbors are beautiful. Today we plan to go to bahia honda beach loving this !!!
Lived In K W 3 and half years compliments of Uncle Sam....didn't realize what I had till I was gone...and out of service...Been back on fly in to Lauderdale then drive down in convert. with styro cooler and a few iced down brews...that is really a fun trip...get to see the other keys...which is interesting....

In 1972 I was only 16 but already a shrimpboat capt and used to set in sloppy joes and drink.. Know asked or cared lol

I lived in Miami from 1950 to 1998, spent quite a bit of time in the Keys. But the drive down from Miami was a total drag even before all the traffic there is now. Back then it was a 2 lane road for about 100 miles.

Kristen, when you where up in the light house and you moved the camera right to left to get a panoramic view, do it slowly.
Cameras are usually not very good at picking stuff far away when moved too quickly.

It is such an amazing video, it's been a long time since I've been to Key West and its certainly changed.... I especially liked the lighthouse!! I also saw the lil train I rode on yrs ago, and even tho it looks a lil different... It sure brought bac alotta memories...keep up the good work guys, I think the board of tourism owes u guys!!! Lived in the Lower Keys for 19 years. Key West is a great place to visit & have fun. The best Key West adult deal of the year is Fantasy Fest, in late Oct. Be open minded & ready for fun, don't bring your kids as it's "R" rated. The rest of the Keys are great fun, beautiful views & sun sets, lots of fishing, diving, & lots of great bars & fun places. ...... bring $$$ as everything is costly.

I always go to the museum of that guy that found all the treasure diving.
Make sure you check out the Jet Ski Tour, one of the best ways see the island. If it your first trip to Key West a great way to get familiar with the island! It is a 2-hour, 26 Mile tour of Key West’s coastline with several stops along the way. Get educated on Key West’s history, the landmark’s, the beaches & some of the best places to visit. The trip took us around the entire coast, past landmarks & historical sites also in between the islands and through the mangroves. The name of the company that does the tour is Barefoot Billy’s and I recommend the tour to anyone visiting Key West.

Fort Kent, ME is the other end of US1. Spent 5.5 yrs. in Key West while on active duty.

Decided to go check it out. Not bad if you want a drinking vacation. Walk around all day with drinks in your hand and bars don't make a fuss when you sit down with a drink from another place. Super expensive to eat and drink in most places $100 for lunch for 2 people is not uncommon.
It reminded me of the first Margaritaville orientation video. You didn’t visit the Ernest Hemingway house, that has to be pretty cool!

Was the Mel Fisher Museum still there? I went when it first opened when it was loaded with tons of gold and silver and jewels. Not sure if it's still there now. Great video. Clothing optional bar....VERY interesting.

Planning a trip there in a few months. I have limited mobility flare ups so biking and walking could (🤞 that I don’t that week) be a challenge. Do you have any advice?
Cuban Coffee Queen makes the best damn breakfast sandwich. There’s also a tiny place called “Mams” that makes an Israeli meatball sandwich that is dream worthy.
