I did this last year with a blue flame-top Jackson DK2, HSS configuration, essentially the exact same guitar as this one. It was in similarly terrible condition but it came out gorgeous. You’re right, bringing guitars back from the dead like this is super satisfying. Nice work!
That is a Schaller Floyd Rose. An actual Floyd Rose. Unlike 97% of the bridges that get called 'Floyds' (instead of double locking). I wish I could find somehtinglike this to restore. 🍻

Was curious how (or if) Floyd type trem systems compensated for fretboard radius w/o individual saddle adjustments. Resto vids are good OCD therapy, nice work/gtr.
I was given a strat that had been left outside and got rained on and then got really dirty and sat that way for months. All the hardware and electronics were beyond repair. The paint was peeling off of the body. The neck was amazingly okay.
Subbing just for the word schmoo. Haven't heard that term in decades. Nice job on the resto mate and a gem of a tip regarding having 3 sets of saddles at the various heights to match the fretboard radius. Where do you find guitars in such a janky state? I resurrected a guitar I had sitting in a cupboard for 20 years and it didn't look half as bad as these. And I'm in grungy old Melbourne.
Only had to work on one FR trem system to date and while I tip my hat to the engineering genius behind them, I'd never choose to fit one on a guitar I play. Not to say it wasn't fun practising the dive bombs etc while finishing the set up for the customer, they're just trickier to restring and work on than traditional trem systems. So kudos mate for bringing that rusty old one back to life ready for more between the legs/behind the neck crazy metal bombs and solos 😎
Martin. You're right about FR trems , I can do just about anything on a guitar in regards to working on them. But this is the only trem system that's giving me a fit , I had the Synyster Gates custom S with the FR1000 and it drove me nuts when changing the string's. I ended up selling it because of that reason , it was great for dive bombs especially with the sustaniac. But too aggravating for me , I didn't have the patience to get it back in tune...✌️
you dont use the swirl remover right at all. Its an abrasive compound. You need some amount of pressure and most likely a machine. the way u used it does nothing more than using water with soup an a towel not 1 single swirl was removed,
I wasn't using it to remove swirls. I do that with my polishing gun at my home workshop as the final step in cutting and polishing after spray painting. It just happens that a tiny dot on a rag is great for cleaning a dirty old guitar, too. But thanks for assuming I know nothing. Always makes my day!

That bridge actually works better with the lock screws into the ball ends. It's an old trick to keep the strings from popping out.
You really don’t want the wrap winds of the string on the saddle witness point.

you use small shims under the saddles. either make them or buy them from all parts

There are small laser cut stainless shims to fine tune their heights.
