Does anyone know where Vox originally came up with its circuit design? As in Marshall and Mesa modded Fender circuits. Leo took his designs from RCA circuits. Did Vox do the same thing or did they come from somewhere different?

Hey Brad, great channel! I bought a Peavey PR15D sight unseen for my 13 year old sons band. When I plug the speaker in there are no lights and no sound at all. Would you have any insight on where I should start looking. I do have a good Fluke meter and some basic electronics knowledge and would really appreciate any advice you may have. Thanks Sir!

Missed the live stream. WRT comments on TV's being scary - try an X-Ray machine, up to 350kV in some of them. The Ampeg brings back memories, I used to gig with a VT22 and a V4 (100W) They ran 7027 tubes which were a PITA, eventually moved on.

Another great video Brad! It's amazing how much better this amp can be with a bit of work. Vibration and heat are electronics two worst enemies. Folks that are lucky enough to be close to you for their repair or mod needs don't know how lucky they are. 🤗

Great video! Brad! I have the exact same amp. I decided to convert it to point to point wiring before the PCB had a chance to give me a problem. It also has an adjustible trimpot for biasing the tubes which were biased way to hot from the factory. One way for fender to sell more tubes and amp repairs 😁. At least now it's easy to troubleshoot and replace parts if necessary. The one thing I have try is changing the 47uf bypass capacitor on V1. You're right about it having way too much gain in the first pre-amp stage. The volume control is basically unuseable as is. You mentioned on your video you used certain values but I couldn't make out what they were. I've disconnected my 47uf capacitor and the gain gas dropped and the volume knob is more useable. There's just a tad bit too much base. What value do you usually use? Thanks.

Would your opamp mod help reduce the hiss in a JC-120? Which resistors are the most important to replace with metal film?

Circuit boards rob the tone, mannnnnnnnnnnnn. I could have sworn Hammond makes(and has forever) a 2mm aluminum chassis. I know the margins are tight with small run boutique amps, but they aren’t that tight(especially in bulk). I still want to build something into the steel lunchbox chassis they make. I need another amp like I need another guitar though.

That's how I felt in the end with boogie... i had the 5050 with the studio pre, but didn't use it in bands, then the dc5, and when i got a bassman after that it was like taking a blanket off it... put me off boogie a bit

I own a handwired amp, its nice but a bitch to work on when it needs it. PCB's are where its at as far as I'm concerned. Vintage amps are ab archaic lot anyways

I have a 65 super reverb and the amp is very bright, I have to turn treble down to one and the bass to 8 . The amp is like this on both channels.
