Totally disagree... I saw Bird do everything Jokic is doing today. Jokic would be the exact same type of Player Larry was. The style that the 2 of those players has would translate into any era.
@ I respectfully disagree. I saw Bird too & Bird played in a tougher Era where racking up stats was harder to do because of the rules & defense & how the game was played back then. Jokic is playing in a small ball Era where the rules are geared towards the offensive player & where defenses are not as tough hence why this Era is called The Freedom of Movement Era. Jokic is great in this Era but he wouldn’t be the same player that he is today if he played in past Eras.

There are a lot of different metrics, that determines given player is one of my favourites. Its not only about game itself or IQ on the floor, its for example personality, stories related with that player, etc. Larry Bird is in my top 3 even before MJ or Magic. Jokic, which I'm fan of from around 5-6 years is another player in my top 3. I dont know who I can put there also. Maybe Luka? I was die hard fan of D. Wade when he was playing, but hearing his latest stories related with his kids, I lost a little bit respect for him. I was never fan on Kobe, but I can understand why people loved him. Other my favourites players (not always the best ones) are for example Rasheed Wallace, Gary Payton or Charles Barkley. This guys got balls.
As a native coloradoan i am here to tell you that the broncos makimg the playoffs after 8 years is a bigger deal than jokic and the nuggets. Thats how much we love the broncos.
What is insane about this year is Jokic is having to do all this “extra” work just to keep the nuggets in the hunt. The west is so crazy deep that there really is no take off games like he may have done in the past. By take off games I mean there have been games in the past where joker would get teammates way more involved, and you could see he was experimenting with plays or crazy passes. This year he just does not have that luxury.
To compare joic to Bird is both direspectful to Bird, and Jokic. Jokic's stats is on a whole other level for one. Plays a deferent position for two, and different roles for 3.
I watched Jokic’s performance against the Spurs and thought it was one of his more lackluster games. I look at the stats and he almost has a 45+ point triple double…. Against Wemby… idk what we’ll do with this guy
Those are crazy stats, but they are not as efficient as usual. But he played against one of the best defenders. As great as he is, he is still "improving." That is a mark of a great player. You just keep getting better.
Joker and Bird's games are very similar, with the great 3 point shooting from difficult positions, am aging blind passes and touch passes. But you could also do a video of the Joker imitating Kevin McHale in the post. He also backs his way into the net similarly to Shaq.
when you get a guy like bird stuck between a rock and hard place, between his chronic back issues and the greatness he wanted to achieve, he's gonna push against anything that will give him an inch to breathe and that meant robbing his future to pay debts in the present so he could play out a career despite his physical condition and constant pain. as a HoFer he can say it's worth it but what if he did it all for nothing? if it wasn't good enough for him to sit back and be proud of? it's cool that his heir apparent is jokic, who will undoubtedly understand and appreciate the work and all the risk bird put on the line to inevitably afford the future generations all the luxuries they enjoy and that keep them from crashing and burning. just thinking about how stressed out guys like shaq and lebron would make you if you were kareem or mj having to constantly hear about the whining and comparisons and bipolar between having your butt kissed and being disrespected every other day depending on how the wind is blowing. at least with jokic as the guy the media is gonna hold up to you, you know he's probably not gonna feed into it or turn it into a headache for the next 10 years. so guys like skip bayless can make 100m and do whatever it is he likes to do with his money, around young girls in tijuana (didn't hear it from me).
I don’t think anybody today can handle Bird’s trash talking. Draymond would go crazy if Bird talked trash & Bird would use that and make him look silly. Jokic is great but I wish he had Bird’s attitude. People respected/feared Bird, people don’t give Jokic the same but nearly deserves it. Bird was also better defender & clutch.
Jokic is unbelievable and proof that previous eras stars would be even more dominant today. And what Jokic is doing is what lebron fans think the old man is doing for the Lakers. When the old mans stats are empty and Joker HAS to do what hes doing if the Nuggs wanna win.
That would be unfair to Jokic. He has an offensive skillset that ANY player would dream of having. It's just flat out disrespectful if you think any player from any era could do what Jokic could do today. He is the most unguardable player we have ever seen and will probably ever see until someone else is able to score a contested three against AD with his hand already right on TOP of their head. List any other nba player in the history of the nba that can do that at a >35% rate, and maybe I will reconsider.
I think Shai will win MVP this year because he’s a top 3 player in the league on the best team in the deep west. But take Jokic off the Nuggets and they’re the Pistons from last year…
My best argument would be to switch teams and see if that player can do the same for the other side. I am sure Jokic will be greater in OK, but I strongly doubt if Shai can be that good in Denver.
Bird really better than Magic..Magic could not jump either….he could easily play point guard today, and lead league in 3 point percentage…..his 3 point percentage looks low, but you have to remember very few 3 point shots taken and a large percentage of 3s half or 3/4 court desperation attempts.

@juliothom2408
Larry bird is light-years better the Nikola jokic lol . There was hand cheking rule back then when larry bird was playing . So stop lying to yourself . The man literally faced Air Jordan from the 80s!
Jokic is the highest order of figuring out any opponent of any style he plays. He would do just fine
Tough to say, his numbers wouldn’t be what they are today but they would still be amazing. Joker would be able to use his strength even more and he rarely gets calls like other players do today. But I could see the argument both ways.
Just need a left-hand game from Jok!
Great work finding and editing the Bird and Jocic highlights
I wish all that old footage from the 80's was hi-def.
Great observation dope video 🔥💯
Larry Bird has gotta epic turkey gobbler going on there
Both of them guys also make teammates better. He's making westbrook look like an All star.
Larry Bird 1985 was at least just as good as 1988. Avg 28 pts 10 rebs 5 asts nearly shooting 50-40-90. Lead in WS, PER, BPM and VORP
When a real legend says that he would like to play against him (Joker), then that is a great honour in my eyes

No, he is first in PER and passes MJ both in the regular season and playoffs.
@ these are all single season marks not career marks
What a crime from the Nuggets not giving this man a realy good team...
I once heard it said that he’s a mix between Kevin McHale and Bird who coincidently played together. That makes the most sense to me. From COJ 144
If jokic is so good that he wins a chip with this team this year, i think it will be the greatest season of all time
As a native coloradoan i am here to tell you that the broncos makimg the playoffs after 8 years is a bigger deal than jokic and the nuggets.
Thats how much we love the broncos.
I was thinking yesterday that Nikola Jokic is just like Bird just without the trashtalk. Which is why Bird forever > Jokic
Bro... You want Jokic to get a tech?😂
Bird played defense
the best defenses still can't stop Jokic from averaging a triple double
@@artvallejos1460 word, Jokic is probably an unparalleled genius for what he does, but I could never love him more than Bird
@@parkerstroh6586
Ok. but do remember that Bird played with other Allstars for a majority of his career. Jokic not so much.
JJ Reddick: Joker can’t play
What is insane about this year is Jokic is having to do all this “extra” work just to keep the nuggets in the hunt. The west is so crazy deep that there really is no take off games like he may have done in the past.
By take off games I mean there have been games in the past where joker would get teammates way more involved, and you could see he was experimenting with plays or crazy passes. This year he just does not have that luxury.
To compare joic to Bird is both direspectful to Bird, and Jokic.
Jokic's stats is on a whole other level for one. Plays a deferent position for two, and different roles for 3.
I still havent found a better basketball player than Larry Bird.
I'll wait if someone here has found one please inform me.
For me the best legend ever played basketball, even before MJ.
you’re gonna be waiting awhile
rly nice to know that he is next to lary bird and ppl resemble with him
I watched Jokic’s performance against the Spurs and thought it was one of his more lackluster games.
Nice its like a jordan vs kobe competition. I would love to see the bird vs jokic. That would be a must see
Bird >>> GOAT
Sure. Larry was surrounded by great teammates. MJ got a pipsqueak. Pippen
lol the whole numb thing is so true, he's just so consistently stellar
Very good point about the dribbling.
Bird have better teammates...
That is high praise if Bird wants to play against you.
Notice how legendary players praises how good jokic is, While people on media discredit him on how boring he plays.
that's called efficiency, as opposed to some players who stacks up on dribbles on do nothing
Joker and Bird's games are very similar, with the great 3 point shooting from difficult positions, am aging blind passes and touch passes. But you could also do a video of the Joker imitating Kevin McHale in the post. He also backs his way into the net similarly to Shaq.
Amazing. Not am aging
His bucket after missing and getting his own rebound would credit LeBron James an assist, that's how crazy loose his assists are getting 😂
when you get a guy like bird stuck between a rock and hard place, between his chronic back issues and the greatness he wanted to achieve, he's gonna push against anything that will give him an inch to breathe and that meant robbing his future to pay debts in the present so he could play out a career despite his physical condition and constant pain. as a HoFer he can say it's worth it but what if he did it all for nothing? if it wasn't good enough for him to sit back and be proud of?
it's cool that his heir apparent is jokic, who will undoubtedly understand and appreciate the work and all the risk bird put on the line to inevitably afford the future generations all the luxuries they enjoy and that keep them from crashing and burning. just thinking about how stressed out guys like shaq and lebron would make you if you were kareem or mj having to constantly hear about the whining and comparisons and bipolar between having your butt kissed and being disrespected every other day depending on how the wind is blowing. at least with jokic as the guy the media is gonna hold up to you, you know he's probably not gonna feed into it or turn it into a headache for the next 10 years. so guys like skip bayless can make 100m and do whatever it is he likes to do with his money, around young girls in tijuana (didn't hear it from me).
I’ll point out that is early in Jordan’s career, he had an arguably better team than Jocik has now. Bird and Co. swept that team. Twice.
Jokic new nickname ‘Big Bird’
For people that try and say Bird couldn't play in today's league it laughable because he's literally Jokic with a meaner attitude and higher IQ
easy 5 championships for larry if he is playing in this era
@erichong4786 did I say that? Did I say anyone from previous eras would be more dominant today? Did you play?
Bird gets the edge in trash talking though.. Against everyone..
I know its not related to the video but would you plan to react to that video isaac the bron fan vs 10 haters made weeks ago?
Jokic should run and superteam in DAL, like true competitors /s
Where did you find old Celtics games ?
Its both their iq thats incredible
what's the music please ?
Isn't he the face of the league???
Do you also have a Toyota Land cruiser youtube channel?
I think Shai will win MVP this year because he’s a top 3 player in the league on the best team in the deep west. But take Jokic off the Nuggets and they’re the Pistons from last year…
My best argument would be to switch teams and see if that player can do the same for the other side. I am sure Jokic will be greater in OK, but I strongly doubt if Shai can be that good in Denver.
Jokić and Giannis are the modern Bird and Magic. And Steph is the modern Jordan.
But if Jordan came before Bird and Magic.
i would pay good money for a joker/bird game.
But but but.... Plumbers & firemen.... 😅😅😅
Bird really better than Magic..Magic could not jump either….he could easily play point guard today, and lead league in 3 point percentage…..his 3 point percentage looks low, but you have to remember very few 3 point shots taken and a large percentage of 3s half or 3/4 court desperation attempts.
All-time per ratings:
1. Nikola Jokić 28.30
2. Michael Jordan* 27.91
3. LeBron James 26.97
4. Anthony Davis 26.84
5. Shaquille O'Neal* 26.43
6. David Robinson* 26.18
7. Wilt Chamberlain* 26.16
Jokic also has the highest PER for a single season. 32.85
also the playoffs
Jokic is bigger than Bird, which makes him a tad more effective. But Bird is prettier to watch. His game has more flow.
Yea, they gave Bird's 1988 MVP to Jordan.
