    I released a video about this very thing a little over two weeks ago. I had to. I made a video defending LMNT a few months ago because Robb Wolf told me via Twitter that there is only 4mg of maltodextrin and, to me that was a very miniscule amount. It was not till someone left me a comment on that video was I made aware of the 100x difference, so I had to make a new video to outline this difference. I didn't think it would be so polarizing. People like Mark Sisson and others saying we're blowing this whole thing out of proportion... Though it's bigger than just the ingredient maltodextrin itself. The fact they use the language that it's not an ingredient, it's a Flav carrier... Ugh. It's in the product so it's an ingredient in my opinion... So yeah. We've gotta be extra vigilant and pay attention to how we feel!

    • @caterinadc5567
      @caterinadc5567 День назад +15

      Yeah, it's deceitful language to pretend something isn't an "ingredient" just because it's some particular SUBCATEGORY of ingredient. I don't care what industry jargon someone thought they could use as a loophole. If you put it in your product, it's an ingredient. That's what words mean to most people, and what words mean to most people is what words mean.

    I live in Europe and bought the unflavored LMNT a few years ago from an online European keto store. It was convenient for travel, even though it was absurdly expensive for just packets of salt with some added potassium and magnesium. About a year ago, I wanted to repurchase the same product for some upcoming travel, but the online European keto store stated that LMNT exited the European market (and suggested another product instead from Redmond). I thought this maybe was just because of low LMNT sales in Europe, making the whole endeavor not very worthwhile. But with this scandal, it could have been for another reason: The European Union is usually - fortunately for us Europeans - more strict about the information food and supplement companies need to disclose on their packaging, and the regulations surrounding this have become even more stricter in recent years. Maybe that's why LMNT exited the European market some time ago, to avoid potential future trouble regarding the disclosure of their ingredients.

    I appreciate the truth. Plus you can make it at home for almost nothing:
    * 1 cup Salt Pure salt, such as sea salt, with no additives, such as anti-caking agents. Remember, this amount of salt helps you make a recipe with 48 servings.
    * 3 1/2 tsp Potassium Chloride powder One brand of this ingredient is sold under the name "Nu-Salt." Whatever brand you buy, make sure it is just "potassium chloride" with no additives such as "anti-caking" agents.
    * 3 capsules Magnesium glycinate powder This ingredient is available in the vitamin section at most grocery stores or pharmacies. If purchased in capsules, empty the capsules until you have 1/2 tsp. of the powder. You may need to empty 1-2 capsules to obtain this amount.
    I mix it up in mason jar and put 1 teaspoon in a 30 oz bottle of water. All the ingredients cost me less than $20, I drink it daily for more than a year, and still have not run out of stuff to make more of it.

    Here is the reply I received from LMNT when I inquired their natural flavor ingredients.
    "Hey Rain, Thank you for your response and you're welcome I'm here to assist!😁🙌
    I hope you're doing awesome! The natural flavors are extracted from fruits, and a few MILLIGRAMS of maltodextrin are used as a flavor carrier. The Raw Unflavored version of LMNT doesn’t contain neither natural flavors nor maltodextrin, as it’s only used for our flavored products.🤩⚡"

    There’s so many “healthy” food products being bought out by big food companies like Kraft and others who are going to ruin anything close to being healthier on the supermarket shelves. I’ve noticed changes in some of the additional ingredients, especially seeing, “this product contains a bioengineered ingredient “ quite alarming. It’s all about cheaper and addictive ingredients that bring you to the doctor and big pharmaceutical companies that work hand in hand. Better to make things from scratch so you KNOW what’s in them.

    Natural flavors? Expensive flavors too. When we started a Keto lifestyle I told my wife there is no way I'm paying that much for electrolytes.
    Every carnivore "influencer" pushes this stuff.
    Money does crazy things to some people .

    I'm not a diabetic and I'm on a super low-carb diet. I haven't noticed anything wrong while taking LMNT. I do, however, notice that I have a physical need for it if I don't have some for more than 3 or 4 days. But, that's easily remedied by either using LMNT or supplements that contain a lot of potassium and magnesium along with something with a lot of salt.
    I have also noticed that my LMNTs have started to taste extremely sweet recently (over the last month), so I'm not sure if maybe my taste is off.
