XM25 CDTE was fundamentally a good idea. The one person I talked to who used it gave it good reviews and said it had potential. However, I think they'll need to put a different sighting system on it to get the full benefit of a man-portable CTDE and C-UAS. Not that the sight is bad, it's good, but for such a weapon you probably need something a bit more specialized.
02:15. I always see drones cooperatively hovering for those laser take downs. We need a system that can take out low flying fast (like 150kph in attack run) FPV drones. I haven't seen convincing footage of that capability
The new Barrett bolter looking grenade launcher is finally looking like it could be practical on the battlefield. Dredd style rounds in a Bolter gun with a scope that does the aiming.
Why would you create a new program for a 30mm grenade launcher instead of moving forward with the XM25 CDTE or Punisher? Hell, Barrett has their M109 rifle that fires a 25 x 59mm round with similar capabilities.
@@TeraQuad the XM25 CDTE IP was a 3 way joint venture ATK made the ammunition, HK made the weapon and Bushnell made the optical equipment. HK failed to live up to delivery of the system and ATK and HK had a hard falling out. Bushnell’s optical system would be a decade out of date. The ammo might be salvageable but it’s been over 10 years since they brushed that off. With the teaming in that condition it’s a no go. The XM109 used 25x59mm but that was the ammunition for the XM307 not the XM25 which fired 25x40mm. When the XM307 was cancelled that ammunition type ended up not having a justification.
This grenade gun is just a remake of that grenade rifle they made in the early 2000s. That didn't go anywhere either. The ammo be so expensive and I think u would get better kill radius with the 203
The XM25 failed as HK got cold feet. They were and are German based and Germany was putting pressure on them for HK products in war zones. The XM25 on paper violates the Saint Petersburg declaration. A treaty prohibiting explosive bullets under 400g. When HK started making demands as builders of the launcher ATK sued them and the Drama led to the cancellation
The FPV's in Use in Ukraine do not fly slow, this platform is only useful for surveillance drones. Attack drones will eat this up. This unit cannot track racing drones, they are the kings of the battlefield.
Thank you that was the same thing I was just thinking 100 miles an hour do you think that thing could track it that fast and low I don't think so it's called tactics they'll come in lower the thing still get it
@@stanislavt6376Why would you think that? They have shown footage of drone swarms being downed by airburst rounds. This system is no different. Except is has even more options.
Looks like a paladin the k9. I like the new striker CUAS platform. Good the army found something to.donwith the striker cause they week sauce no protection
Hopefully to be deployed as a working system into Ukraine immediately. Being a wheeled vehicle allowing for mobility whilst engaging will be effective in the defensive role still no answer to drone war other than other drones duly noted😊😊

that grenade rifle is so wild, love it when developers get to get a little crazy with it and Barrett certainly has a history with that

Bolters. Looks like we're going warhammer 40k with this one

Nor them dealing with a drone swarm.

So MARS is going to make a bolter riffle? Where are the rocket-assisted mass reactive rounds?
Why not a multi barrel rotary shotgun for last line of defense against drones?
A net gun would work also.
Seems like an air burst round does the same thing but better. More ammo, longer range, programmable, and wider spread.

Fuze volume is such a high portion of smaller Grenade rounds that small volume/weight/caliber improvements have outsized effects increases.

Cost is highly linked with scale... and this thing fires 5 semi auto, unlike a 203 that has to be reloaded every time. Idk, I kinda like it... 😂
@mysterioanonymous3206 ya ita cool and they used the optical from the new rifle.

That C UAS DE is only good for a stationary target but against FPV drones is useless!
Well buddy the first car was no Ferrari either was it?
@@mysterioanonymous3206 Maybe a Mercedes or!?
Why there is also the M230 LF 30mm with airburst rounds.
@@ChrisRuhl That is absolutely useless against a swarm of drones.

Looks like they are addressing the issues with the XM25. This looks smaller. lighter and easier to carry. Lets see how it does in testing.
Every armored vehicle is going to need that 30mm cannon to give it a robust defense against UAVs as well as mixed elevation infantry.

hell yea... new toys for the DEI military
Hi
Such lasers will not be effective against drones. Drones will have a heat sensor that will help the operator or AI maneuver the drone.
"first rate militaries" loooooool
They got a lot of shit that no ones buying
