As a Mazda owner, I can add 3 more pros, which are first for Mazda: hood struts (hood on my Mazda 6 is so heavy), panoramic moonroof (standard in Canada) and the ability to see the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto navigation directions on the heads up display (Active Driving Display)
Just purchased cx-50 p+t been a long time Mazda owner and I was looking at the Lexus nx and rx and yeah I could not get myself to justify the increase in price for the Lexus. I personally have never had reliability issues with Mazda. With the heads up display showing your apple /android auto maps on the heads up display I find myself rarely looking at the infotainment. Luxury is there for a very affordable price and simplicity. Infotainment I thought would be too thin for my likes is actually very clear and good. So far the power is quite surprising often I don’t even realize I’ve hit a higher speed then intended. So far I’m really impressed
Owned a PPT since April, love it! Coming from an X3, this does not miss a beat in my opinion. Great ride, handling and power. Taken it on a couple of 7 hour drives and enjoyed the ride quality. I drive a mix, aggressive and easy and I'm getting about 23 in the city and 33 on the highway so quite satisfied with the mileage and I get to put regular gas in it when I feel like it. Bose sound system sounds really, really good. I did drive an RDX A-Spec Advanced before buying this and did not see where an extra 11k was worth it. Does not have any big pluses that the CX-50 is missing. Infotainment touch screen works in Apple Car Play. My gripe would be the remote start "feature." When you start with the app, the car shuts off soon as you open the door even when you have the FOB. That's ridiculous in my opinion. I don't use the wireless charging, don't like the placement of it and the performance. Had the racks and took them off because they were noisy, made a howling sound. The ride can be firm but it is comparable with what I had with the X3 and is preferred when driving aggressively. I can probably see changing to 18" "Meridian version" wheels in the future. I regularly go through vehicles but see myself keeping this for a while. Love driving it!
Thank you so much sir for sharing your detailed ownership experiences! I’m sure this can help out many potential buyers, I’m really impressed with your fuel economy!
Wow, finally a review that answers my question about the CX-5 ride being better with the independent rear suspension and the CX-50 having a stiff ride without it! I think a pro is when you use premium gas you get more HP but you don't have to use premium gas. The con for me is it seems that even the signature models have the black cladding around the wheel wells ibstead of matching paint. Loved your Mercedes S-class video at 150,000 miles. Will get one of those used if the CX-90s are not released by Mazda soon.
Totally agree on the plastic cladding, on this and the cx30 it just looks the opposite of upscale, I get the offroad thing they're trying to do but the rest of the exterior looks so premium until you hit this plastic cladding

Great video, especially as a Mazda fan and owner considering the CX-50 as my next daily driver. The only thing I'd change is to remove the background music; it's distracting and sounds a bit like the Exorcist theme.
@@MeynMotorGroup Thank you, i was going for a used 4 runner or RX but that used market is way too crazy here in canada, first experience in a new car and a new model on top of that !

I own a cx-50 absolutely an amazing vehicle. On the mpg, after the first few thousand miles the average mpg has gone up. Started out a bit over 24, now it's 26. Dunno how many miles the tester had that could be why it's not getting good mpg.
Did you test the torsion beam ride on imperfect roads (repaired roads with cracks, crossing train tracks, non flush maintenance covers, highway/bridge expansion joints) with someone in the back seat?

Staffing shortage. The plant in Alabama is supposed to be running three 8 hour shifts, but they only have had enough labour to run only one 8 hour shift. I heard that a second shift is supposed to be in place in mid August 2023, so production should ramp shortly.
Mazda has been one of the most rock solid vehicles for a while now. Honda, not as much for the past 10 years. I can tell you the whole 8th gen accord was atrocious.
As someone who has owned Mazda 3 (2012, 2014 w/Bose, 2018 ), the biggest con on this cx-50 is the price hike to get options i.e. Bose setup. $7k jump for Terracotta leather.. $10,000 jump from base model for a turbo is insane. I realize car prices are much higher these days, I still have a problem paying $40k plus Mazda anything, maybe a Mazdaspeed 6 if it existed. Honestly, after watching your review videos and buying a used mint LS430 last year with only 55k miles on it (my first Lexus), I would rather buy a used 2020 RX350 over a new loaded CX-50.
Maybe you got lucky on your Lexus but I actually wanted the Lexus nx or rx and couldn’t reason another 10-20k for their premium packages that I got my cx-50 for at 43k p+t
@@bryankwong2175 I don't know about the RX, never had the privilege, but get in a LS430 for a ride, then get in a NX or CX and you will notice immediately the difference. Mazda over did it with the cx 50, all the c5 needed was subtle changes with larger interior and it would have been spot on. I am not a big fan of the cx 50
I had a 20 RDX and traded for the cx-50. I found the RDX to have more roll…..the SH-AWD kicked in quite well when you pushed it but the vehicle felt softer……I think the adaptation suspension in the newer models would address this.
Same cons for me, the wireless charger you might as well just disable it as it does more bad than good and the EPA. I wish I had known this is a gas hog. I can’t even get 20mpg in city . For this price I would’ve gone with the RDX had I known that . Other than that , great car experience and sporty . And you are righ , had they gone with 8/10 speed transmission , gas mileage would’ve been better, 320@2000 rpm is too agressive …..
I had a 20 RDX Aspec and traded for the cx-50. Can confirm RDX is actually worse on gas. Based on my usage of both vehicles cx-50 gets 16% better mileage and it cost me $8k less, so win win for me.
The large cheap black plastic cladding looks horrible. Why won't Mazda only use a small amount like on the CX-5? They do the same thing on the CX-30 that looks awful.
NO- not a good name-- more of an "OFF ASPHALT" car-- not off road.. OH well-- it's good for what I WANT..
