I love him saying he doesn’t really care about Daggett as a character, because he really wasn’t much of a memorable one, but he just loved the experience of working on a big movie. Wonderful enthusiasm.
There’s something so endearing about that lisp. Although his American accent has a lower-pitch that lisp makes him powerful yet vulnerable. Such understated brilliance.
His lisp seems less pronounced now than when he was young, it seems to me (I remember seeing him in the kids TV series "The Henderdon Kids" back when it first aired). I always found it a little surprising how both he and fellow lisper and co-star of "The Year My Voice Broke" Noah Taylor, managed to become the stars they did, given their noticeable lisps (and slightly odd looks, with their weak jaws). Taylor's lisp is even more noticeable. Of course, their talent at a fairly young age was very evident in that film, and talent takes precedence over commercial appeal in the looks department in Australia. That's why Australia has exported so nany great actors and actresses to the U.K. and the U.S. Apparently the two actors often get mistaken for each other by members of the public. I find that strange, as their faces aren't at all similar except for both having weak jaws that don't come forward enough so they seem to have rather pointy faces; that and brown hair. I think it's actually their lisp that makes some people mistake one for the other.
Ben Mendelsohn has such a distinctive voice and it's great (also his acting is pretty good too). I'm glad he's been popping up more and more. I think Rogue One was the first time I really noticed him.
This dude has become one of my favorite actors. Dark Knight Rises, Rogue One, Ready Player One, and Captain Marvel are the ones I’ve seen and loved, but I definitely need to see more!!!
Bane: Leave us. Daggett: No, stay here! I'm in charge. Bane: Do you feel in charge? Daggett: I've paid you a small fortune. Bane: And this gives you power over me? Daggett: What are you? Bane: I'm Gotham's reckoning. Here to end the borrowed time you've all been living on.
Just saw him in Captain Marvel and just had to find out who played the part. He makes an impression in a relatively minor roll. Some acters just have it, and Ben Mendelsohn is such an actor, despite the alien make-up.
I love, love Danny too. I remember watching Mississippi Grind thinking wow, who is this actor? And then went looking for something else he did. And Bloodline was just out. Bingo. What a great role.
Easily one of the best actors I’ve ever seen. Whenever he is on screen I can’t take my eyes off of him. He’s absolutely brilliant on ‘the outsider’ which I feel his whole career has been building up to.
Outstanding actor. What a dude he is. My bad and had no idea he was an Aussie. I thought he was English for some reason. He is one of the few people I look out for or should I say , I’d watch a movie just cos of. He made Rogue One and even his Dark Knight Rises was great. He don’t even need much screen time to be great. He has GOT to be a Bond Villain one day.
Pope in Animal Kingdom is the creepiest character I've ever seen on film. So realistically played by this dude. It actually makes me scared of the actor a bit because there must be a bit of Pope in him to play creepy so well. Haha, I knew it 5:48 there is definitely some rage in this dude.
Director Krennic is my favourite Star Wars character. Ben played him so well. And he did build the Death Star, Galen Erso just supplied the fuel for the weapon. Ben was great in Darkest Hour too. Great actor.
Ben is completely new to me. I watched the whole series of Bloodline in about a week. Ben is the actor that you’ve seen in so many movies, but you don’t know who he is until he has a breakout role. Now I’m seeing him in all these movies and wondering why I didn’t remember him. I am a fan of his now. He’s the guy that you hate so much that you want to see him again so you can hate him all over again. Great actor and a huge presence when he’s on the screen.
Just LOVE LOVE LOVE this awesome & multifaceted actor, every role he plays he just owns it 100%, would really like meeting him. & just talk about life. He just seems so down to earth & genuinely cool. #benmendelsohn
ibanezman04 Jack was also great in ‘71 if you haven’t seen it. He’s bound for a breakout role. Wish Ben would’ve done a James Bomd villain role before he signed on to be the best reoccurring villain of the past few years. He would’ve killed it.

I find it quite annoying how people nowadays think it's okay to label actors, like x would make a good villain in this or that. Why limit someone with immense talent to a certain kind of roles. Ben Mendelsohn is a beast of an actor & nails every role he plays.
Respect to those mentioning Place Beyond the Pines and Killing Them Softly, but I was introduced to this great actor as an MIT professor alongside Nic Cage in Alex Proyas's "Knowing". Hey, it's not THAT bad, tbh. Animal Kingdom took him to the next level, though.
Derek Cianfrance is one of the most exciting filmmakers ever to grace this planet. He’s only made four motion pictures and one of them is The Place Beyond the Pines, starring Ben Mendelsohn
Him and Hugo Weaving literally can't play anything other than the bad guy now. When they show up in a movie, no introduction needed, they are the antagonist.
not mentioned here..great Australian series he was in prior to Animal Kingdom, Love My Way .. 2004-2007.. played another dark character. top series if you can find it
I only noticed him after Bloodline (even if he was on TDKR) and well, he is every where after that. I mean, on almost three years he was consolidated as a THE middle aged villain: Ready, Rogue, Marvel. He now only needs his Netflix series a-la Jason Bateman
I love him saying he doesn’t really care about Daggett as a character, because he really wasn’t much of a memorable one, but he just loved the experience of working on a big movie. Wonderful enthusiasm.
Ikr, he act with real passion and enthusiastic in acting
I found that to be a refreshing comment because I don't think I've ever heard an actor explain it in quite those terms before.
love his honesty
Thanks for your continuous love and support @shannonroeilly4695❤️❤️
For how long have you been a fan of mine @shannonoreilly??

Nice comment
It makes him real, he can disappear into any role he's given
That chuckle at 9:40 about Vadar...man this guy is too cool
He's a fanboy i bet hahaha

You've terrible taste if you never watch the indies
Villains

“Haven’t been talkin to the cops have ya mate?”
"Mate, I need you to help come build me a Star Wars, mate."
I clicked on this video to see how many Aunty Donna references were in the comments.
Danny on Bloodline... WHAT A CHARACTER!
Alexander Rojas agree what a performance he did
The place beyond the pines is one the best performances of his and doesn't even mention it?Fire flannel though!!
Starred Up was probably the first film that got me to really pay attention to him. Phenomenal actor.
Basically every villain ever
Bane: Leave us.
Daggett: No, stay here! I'm in charge.
Bane: Do you feel in charge?
Daggett: I've paid you a small fortune.
Bane: And this gives you power over me?
Daggett: What are you?
Bane: I'm Gotham's reckoning. Here to end the borrowed time you've all been living on.
gordon009 Daggett: You're... Pure evil!
Bane: I'm necessary evil.
*Snaps neck*
Daggett: *Muffled screaming in pain*

His voice is so interesting
i loved him as Talos and his voice is so soft and cute

Love him in The Outsider.
I loved him in Lost River, some of the most spine chilling acting I've ever seen!!! 👏👏👏
I'll watch every movie he's in. He is just brilliant.
Outstanding actor. What a dude he is.

Very underrated character in RPO, he played a generic villain but made him so much fun to watch
He was essentially playing an EA executive
Before Hollywood their was Neighbours, the Henderson kids, the big steal, Cosi, Amy. The list goes on. Love him.
I go to know him in Big Steal. It was screened here in Brazil quite a lot in the early 90's.
The Henderson kids... haha..loved it as a kid
Kev in "Idiot Box"... One of the funniest Aussie films ever made..
" I'll show ya a trick"
Greatest Australian movie:ever made bar none.( bad boy bubby a close second)@@PluckYeah
9:40 I love how Ben doesn't even have to say how much he loves what he does in this film.
Pope in Animal Kingdom is the creepiest character I've ever seen on film. So realistically played by this dude. It actually makes me scared of the actor a bit because there must be a bit of Pope in him to play creepy so well.

Overlooking “Mississippi Grind” should be punishable by death.
Brandon Gregory yes ..his best role
Director Krennic is my favourite Star Wars character. Ben played him so well. And he did build the Death Star, Galen Erso just supplied the fuel for the weapon. Ben was great in Darkest Hour too. Great actor.
He is an awesome actor. I remember him on TV. He should be in more movies. I support all Australian actors 🇳🇿🇦🇺
This guy is great in anything that he's in. A true chameleon of an actor.
it's so cool you can see how big of a fan he is of these people and properties!

no mention of "Mississippi Grind"? He was AMAZING in that film!!
I've seen him in everything and never knew how amazing his real personality is until The King press... which got me here. What a gem of a man.
This dude is awesome, I saw him in TDKR and I was like: this dude is going places!
I love this man, such an incredible actor. Bloodline is an amazing show and Ready Player One is hands down my favorite movie.
Ben Mendelsohn is one of my favorite actors.
Just LOVE LOVE LOVE this awesome & multifaceted actor, every role he plays he just owns it 100%, would really like meeting him. & just talk about life. He just seems so down to earth & genuinely cool. #benmendelsohn

Oh G’day there boys it’s me Ben Mendelssohn. You haven’t been talkin’ to the cops have you mate?
You haven’t been reading Vanity Fair, have ya mate?
@@triangleman2k6 Haven’t been breaking down characters have you mate?
One of my favorite actors. He’s too good.
Wish they had mention A Place Beyond the Pines. For some reason its my favorite movie of his
Omg he's so cute. I love him😍😍
i liked his 'steady habits' kind of an underrated movie i guess.
Benny boy - your going to get an Oscar mate!
One of the best Aussie actors around and he stays true to his roots :)
'Starred Up' should be on this list. His performance in that film is remarkable!
Both him and Jack killed their roles.
Agreed. It was such a well written film and they were such a good pairing in it!
ibanezman04 Jack was also great in ‘71 if you haven’t seen it. He’s bound for a breakout role. Wish Ben would’ve done a James Bomd villain role before he signed on to be the best reoccurring villain of the past few years. He would’ve killed it.

He played the King of England during the Second World War to Gary Oldman's Churchill! He doesn't consider that an iconic role??? (Darkest Hour)
I find it quite annoying how people nowadays think it's okay to label actors, like x would make a good villain in this or that. Why limit someone with immense talent to a certain kind of roles. Ben Mendelsohn is a beast of an actor & nails every role he plays.
Ya haven’t been talking to GQ, have ya mate?
Never seen Rogue One, Player One, or most other ones. But I was sold after Softly, Pines, Mississippi and The Outsider(s)
I love this guy in everything he does!
I loved his Director Orson Krennic in Rogue One
Am I the only one who wants his jacket? That thing is dope.
He has a really unique voice. So gravelly & deep!!!
The Big Steal was one of his best!
Kev in "Idiot Box"... One of the funniest Aussie films ever made..
The man's power is that he doesn't particularly stand out, you don't see him when he acts you see the character.
god i wish The Outsider was getting a season 2
I met him today in venice, he's adorable
Respect to those mentioning Place Beyond the Pines and Killing Them Softly, but I was introduced to this great actor as an MIT professor alongside Nic Cage in Alex Proyas's "Knowing". Hey, it's not THAT bad, tbh. Animal Kingdom took him to the next level, though.
Hey mate, you haven't been talking to GQ have you mate?
He played a small but memorable part in the Knowing as well don't forget. That was a good movie. Love ya Ben.
Mississippi Grind? Come on
First time I saw him was in Animal Kingdom. Absolutely phenomenal I'm that.
most loveable and great guy
i mad they didnt talk about Place Beyond the Pines...hes sooo good in that!
Killing Them Softly, Starred Up
GQ needs to do this series for directors! Cinematographers! Scriptwriters!
Always remember seeing him first in Vertical Limit
He’s too underrated!
He was great in Killing Them Softly, one of the best character actors working today
He has such range that I was halfway into place beyond the pines when I realised I was watching Dr krennic.
See him in stephen kings HBO adaption of The Outsider
So intense , perfect casting in my opinion.
Surprised the place beyond the pines wasn’t discussed but great roles fur sure
Bloodline was pretty cool, sometimes he scared the crap outta me though the series had alot of family drama LOL
so happy to see him in bigger roles
After seeing him in TDKR I could never imagine with with an Aussie accent until now
He should have included Killing Them Softly. Great performance.
I find this man really attractive...something wrong with me?
Lol He’s awesome and a total catch.
G'day boys it me, Ben Mendelsohn
Derek Cianfrance is one of the most exciting filmmakers ever to grace this planet. He’s only made four motion pictures and one of them is The Place Beyond the Pines, starring Ben Mendelsohn
What about Vertical Limit? He was great comedic relief
I love that he’s such a fan!
No Mississippi Grind? I thought that was his seminal performance.
I'm here cause of Bloodline. My dude was just excellent on it
He was the best part of ready player one, rogue one and captain marvel
Una and Babyteeth 🔥❤️
Kev in "Idiot Box"...
One of the funniest Aussie films ever made..
Fucken classic..

Fair dinkum..
You are fucken spot on eh..

Blimey good actor. Hoo boy!
I need Ben Mendelsohn to try ASMR
Future Bond Villain. Criminally underrated
Loved him in "Killing them softly"
Him and Hugo Weaving literally can't play anything other than the bad guy now. When they show up in a movie, no introduction needed, they are the antagonist.
Sometimes he makes a exception......March 8 showed that
not mentioned here..great Australian series he was in prior to Animal Kingdom, Love My Way .. 2004-2007.. played another dark character. top series if you can find it
Mate can you get onto Hot Ones with Sean.
PLZ!
I only noticed him after Bloodline (even if he was on TDKR) and well, he is every where after that.
I mean, on almost three years he was consolidated as a THE middle aged villain: Ready, Rogue, Marvel.
He now only needs his Netflix series a-la Jason Bateman
King Henry in The King as well. This guy could make an hour long video he's been in so many movies.
I was hoping Ben would talk about The Big Steal.
He was great in Robin Hood. Underappreciated movie. Watch it!
I thought he was great in captain marvel
BM being cheeky: 5:27 and doing the valley girl accent...hahahaha!!
