This album had just come out when I got to Iraq. For many reasons, it will stand out as the soundtrack to that period of my life. Claudio... Thank you for keeping me sane.
It's always wild to me how long they've been going. I started listening to them at 13 or 14 and fell in love with them instantly. I'm 23 now, and it surprises me every time someone who's twice my age has the same favorite band as me lol. I told my mom they used to go by Shabutie and she started laughing, saying she used to listen to Shabutie back in the 90s. Truly an eternal band, I saw them in concert a couple times and they're even better now
Yes! Same! I’m 31 now… was so upset when Coheed came to New Zealand they changed it to R18 for liquor reasons. I was 16 and waiting in line 😢😢 they are such a fantastic band.
Every time I listened to the album I figured there was a lot of studio magic to make all those crazy solos come together so beautifully, seeing the live version blew my mind away, these guys are beyond amazing!!!
Best song intro ever. No matter how many times I’ve been to a show - this song live, how the crowd reacts to it, makes it feel like the roof will blow off the venue. I always say that hearing this live, is like a religious experience and/or an epiphany.
Not a huge C&C fan, but this song is epic. Tells a great story, and the music is awesome. As far as live shows, this lineup nailed it. I've seen videos of the band playing it a few years after, and it doesn't compare. The backing vocals, the band members, etc, they were all on point. The venue and the crowd in this video also seem to feed off of the band which makes this an awesome video.
Mutual Assent you might give the rest of their work a try. The albums all fit together to tell an epic story that will suck you in and only leave you thirsty for more.
The full band really fucking makes it. Having the backing singers really adds to the performance and makes it sound far closer to the CD. I fucking love it!
14 years later and still one of the best Coheed performances/movies. I wish they would do more movies of their live performances like they did for the Neverender tour from 2009.
I finally decided to check out the live version after all these years. Me: "Surely they can't play the solo as good as the studio version" Claudio: *activates starpower mode* Also Me:............................................. .........................I stand corrected
Weird not seeing Josh on the drums, but this dude did this song justice and made it his own. Really glad he threw in that double bass, gave it a nice twist and crushed it the whole way.
There's killing a song, nailing it, whatever....then there's this. This isn't different planet type shit, this is different galaxy type stuff. Absolute master class. Bravo.
Why is quite literally the best live performance video I've found of Welcome Home only in 480p. The best music deserves nothing short of the best quality. :/
You could've been all I wanted But you weren't honest Now get in the ground You choked off the surest of favors But if you really loved me You would've endured my world
They did it with some musicians from the USC Marching Band once and it was pretty damn impressive with a brass section punctuating it. I can only imagine with a full orchestra.
I’ve been a rock and metal fan all my life. I’ve seen these on festival line ups loads of times but never been fair and given them a go. I admit that I’ve really missed out big time. Now I am having a binge

Peter Parker Peter Dude i started with the Afterman albuns, i kinda liked at the first time, but at the third time listening to it(in a row), it became an amazing album (i wasn't used to prog rock and their style back at day and there was somenthing magnetic about this album that made me to go"try again "). But the album that turned me into a huge fanboy of this band it was "In keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3" (it is possible to be their most epic live song, even way more epic than this song! You got to check that out). But if you want to listen the album which features this song, go check "Good Apollo, I'am Burning Star IV Volume I:From Fear Trought The Eyes of Madness" Amazing prog/epic/dark stuff awaits you in there
Peter Parker If you really enjoyed this song, give the rest of the album a try. Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV. If you want my honest opinion, their album IKSSE:3 is one of their best.

i can't decide which is more impressive:
(a.) the fact that they're this amazing live
or
(b.) Claudio Sanchez's hair.
We know it’s the hair that’s the best part
wait until you see his hair in person its crazy
It’s always the hair. It’s always Claudio’s hair.
They're BOTH epic entities lol ;)

That may be the best riff in guitar history. Jesus it gets me hyped every time.
MegaMatt And he wrote it on his kitchen floor on an acoustic. 🤷🏻♂️
I feel the same way about March of the ants - Mastodon
Right fuckkkkkk love this song this is my ex’s song lol 😂
Bro,
He literally took the Tetris theme for the intro of the song.
THE best no joke!
Damm riff gets me going every time!
The double bass That kicks in at 4:51>>>>> omg I get chills every time I hear it!
They need to incorporate this more. Dang the chills
Josh is on the single pedal, so wont be happening anytime soon!
They sound like triggers to me.
@@TravelerVolkriin You can literally see him fucking do it, man. It's not even that hard. Keep that skepticism at bay.
Is this guy a better drummer than josh?? Holy God it's not possible josh is fucking gold

Did you have an Ipod or something?
Sick sound track for that time in your life.
lol!
Sounds dumb, but when I went 30+ years ago it was Cheap Trick!😂
(and back in the olden days we didn’t have iPod we had Walkman)🤘🏻
No band can make you feel the thunder and lightning to the extreme like Coheed & Cambria! There is no one better on Earth!!!
Bands like this are untouchable. So much talent and I’m so glad I found them at like 16-17. Still a huge fan 20 years later.

The mix and live production of this song shouldnt be unnoticed! Sounds so good!
The two female backing vocalist add so much to the live show. Still one of the tightest bands I’ve ever seen.
They add a whole other dimension!

They're stage presence is incredible!!
Jeffrey Jones The crowd is amazing too 🤘🏻

I always say that hearing this live, is like a religious experience and/or an epiphany.
This is one of the most epic live songs and performances ever!
When he started playing his guitar over his head/behind his back, I sharted.
Did you also notice his guitar was not plugged in...love thr band btw
..it's wireless just look at the input it's not like it's empty
they make adult diapers to not get stains on your pants while watching claudio play a double necked guitar behind his back
Yes
i see you in every coheed live saying the exact same words, and getting the same answer scott P
Scott P have you not seen a wireless guitar in your entire life?
1:46 playing bongos has never been more metal 🤟

Same here not a huge fan of their style but this song is fire. I love the guitar center session they did for this one.
The congas go so well with this song. It gives an added dimension
I’ve seen this song played live 13 times and it never gets old. The second that double neck guitar comes out I get chills.
Holy shit those pinch harmonics

2019 I remember seeing them live for the first time in high school
2020 I remember seeing them at Van's warped tour 2007. I was waiting for Killswitch, and they came before. Fucking amazing!!!
I saw them back in like 2017 or 18 when I was in 8th grade and it was the BEST concert I’ve been to!! I’ve got the coolest mom🤘
Saw them at hell fest 2002 . Always a great time.
They’re the first band I’ve ever seen live back in 09 with trivium and slipknot. Boy can they put on a show
I saw them in 2007 at Next Big Thing in Tampa, FL and they were phenomenal.

Just saw them live in Michigan. Incredible experience!!!
saw them in March. Would love to see them every day! The crowd had so much energy. Everyone around me belting out every word. was a great time!
Yeah, they have some of the most die hard fans of any band! There were also people moshing and crowd surfing when I went and that was a blast too!
This is how a real rock concert should be!! I'm astonished. Just wow!
Holy fuck!!! If that shit doesn't give you goosebumps and just a badass wanna rock the fuck out feeling..!!!!!
fuck yes!
Epic freaking intro to that song, to say nothing of the rest of the tune. Love it!
At the end when they start singing “Whoa” is when I always get goosebumps, no matter what.
Weird not seeing Josh on the drums, but this dude did this song justice and made it his own. Really glad he threw in that double bass, gave it a nice twist and crushed it the whole way.
one of my favorite bands that can play songs live just as well as the records
Never heard of them before I seen them open for Maiden in 12.. Since then seen them 4 more times. Good band

My God what a Masterpiece
The additional percussion in this live performance adds so much more to the song! I love it!
lol I love how Claudio makes sure he has a double neck for this song, but then never uses the 12 string neck! XD
Exactly lol. I wonder what his gym routine is, that thing must weight a ton
@@nesfan8 13 lbs. according to its Wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_EDS-1275

Actually he uses it in several chord parts for this song tho
He does use the 12 string. You can see it better in another live performance
He plays it on the Guitar Center Session. It's the best live version of this song.
After like 100 years of searching, i finally found my favorite live version of this song again. Watch it once years ago, forgot to save it.
if you were to take the bongos away from that guy I would still assume he plays bongos for a living

This song would sound epic with an orchestra.
They have to keep the heavy drumming, and I strongly dislike it when they take away percussionists in the performance.
They did it with some musicians from the USC Marching Band once and it was pretty damn impressive with a brass section punctuating it. I can only imagine with a full orchestra.
They made a very interesting choice by adding an auxiliary percussionist playing congas during this song lol

An underrated gem of an animation.
the fact that Claudio did that riff with the guitar on his head is insane!
