Unfortunately these are hard travel times (and for life in general), many places in the world. We have traveled quite a bit through the pandemic, and not sure if there is a right answer to this question as it varies so much from person to person. However, in any case we would highly recommend you purchase travel insurance so you have the freedom to choose as the situation evolves. There are a number of companies that provide "cancel for any reason" insurance and you would get most of your money back, should you decide it doesn't feel right to go come May. But note, most travel insurance is not cancel for any reason, and often the eligible reasons are very specific. But if you Google for those terms, you should have a number of options and you'll pay a little bit higher premium for the convenience. We would also recommend monitoring what your Embassy suggests for travel there, especially since if a situation were to arise they would be your lifeline. Many have programs where you can register your travels and they also send you alerts leading up to and during your time there. Please let us know if you have other questions. Best of luck!

Hi again, and great question! First of all, the kids could not get enough of the roti (flatbread), rice (which is made with coconut milk), and great variety of fruit. So at minimum, there is that. We stayed in four different places that came with meals (at additional cost), and all were willing to tailor spices for the kids. Two were small hotels, two were Airbnbs. So the kids did get to try dhals and other curries. Not sure how it will play out eating out, but all of these cities/locations have touristic restaurants too, so there's also that option.

The music selection only comes down to what RUclips allows, not necessarily what we want to include. We learned the hard way RUclips blocks or mutes videos that use any popular music, whether that is music from Sri Lanka or the United States where we are from. We used local music from our Peru and also our Brazil videos and unfortunately RUclips just blocks those videos for some users. So now we are pulling from the "copyright free" library, which we found sadly does not have Sinhala music. But we will keep looking! ❤
