Yes, Sri Lankans eat rice and curry almost every day. Not the same curries, not the same rice but yeah rice and curry in general. It is so common in here(rice and curry,kottu,short eats, all of them) but after your video, I feel how lucky we are to have our Sri Lankan cuisine!😇Love from SL🤗

I’m so glad you guys tried Sri Lankan cuisine! Sri Lankan food is too underrated and not known about to tons of populations, which is sad! My family is of Indian origin, but my grandpa was a professor at Jaffna college in Sri Lanka. My mom and some of her siblings were born there and lived for at least 12 years in Sri Lanka. And it’s only because of that that I am exposed to Sri Lankan food! My favorite is the Idiyappam, Sothi, and Sambal! And their spinach poriyal, beet poriyal, and Dahl. Incredible!!!!! Next time, you have to try soothi! It’s a coconut curry you add to the Iddiyaapam (the string hoppers). And add the coconut Sambal too. You are set! 🔥😍

Yes Sri Lankan food is rated so low all the time, and is said to be like Indian food but there are a lot of differences as we cook mainly with coconut milk... curry leaves, pandan leaves, lemon grass etc. All vegetables are made mainly with coconut milk or coconut mixed (mallum). We make many kinds of leaves and try to make it as nutritious as possible. I love your enthusiasm.... well done to the lady at the restaurant, the food looks auwsome.

As a sri lankan weeat rice and various curries every day cause we have so many varieties of rice and we use some fish curries meat curries as our protien intake. And we take some vegetables and some leafy vegetables to get some extra fiber and micro nutrients to our dish. Some times weuse coconut milk for prepare our curries and some time we use coconut oil for prepare curries. It is a fabulous culture we use our finger tips for mixs it well and taste it🧡 love from sri lanka

When someone show a dish of the people of Sri Lanka, why do people in India say that it is their recipe or Sri Lankan food is something that belongs to another country..🥲 It is not fair..😅 isn't it?😅 These dishes are made by the villagers of our country since the olden days.. At that time, our village women did not even know that such countries existed.. Then we did not even have smart devices to copy...😢 Even today, the grandmothers in our villages make delicious dishes unique to Sri Lanka which are even more different.. They don't even know how to use a smart phone.. As they are very efficient and creative, we don't need to secretly prepare and eat the food of those other countries...😅🤌 Even in Ceylon, the way of making all those dishes is also different from province to province.. And the spiciness of those dishes is very special because they use natural ingredients... You may say it ''LOOKS LIKE'' until you taste. It way different to Indian food. Yes we have Indian food in Sri Lanka. But not every thing is ''Indian''. Get over it!!!
Salivating just watching y'all dig in. For mine SL food done well is one of the best cuisines out there. A hidden gem and the variety of flavour and texture profiles is amazing as well. Also not too oily, dairy infused or in your face levels of spice flavouring like Indian cuisine. Very much neutral but also very unique. The only thing is that it can pack a punch so if you're not too fond of chilli it's probably best to let them know beforehand rather than having to figure it out the hard way haha.

Yes Sri Lankan food is rated so low all the time, and is said to be like Indian food but there are a lot of differences as we cook mainly with coconut milk... curry leaves, pandan leaves, lemon grass etc. All vegetables are made mainly with coconut milk or coconut mixed (mallum). We make many kinds of leaves and try to make it as nutritious as possible. I love your enthusiasm.... well done to the lady at the restaurant, the food looks auwsome.

As a sri lankan weeat rice and various curries every day cause we have so many varieties of rice and we use some fish curries meat curries as our protien intake. And we take some vegetables and some leafy vegetables to get some extra fiber and micro nutrients to our dish. Some times weuse coconut milk for prepare our curries and some time we use coconut oil for prepare curries. It is a fabulous culture we use our finger tips for mixs it well and taste it🧡 love from sri lanka

This is something I have seen many times.. When someone show a dish of the people of Sri Lanka, why do people in India say that it is their recipe or Sri Lankan food is something that belongs to another country..🥲 It is not fair..😅 isn't it?😅 These dishes are made by the villagers of our country since the olden days.. At that time, our village women did not even know that such countries existed.. Then we did not even have smart devices to copy...😢 Even today, the grandmothers in our villages make delicious dishes unique to Sri Lanka which are even more different.. They don't even know how to use a smart phone.. As they are very efficient and creative, we don't need to secretly prepare and eat the food of those other countries...😅🤌 Even in Ceylon, the way of making all those dishes is also different from province to province.. And the spiciness of those dishes is very special because they use natural ingredients... Our food is superior in terms of nutrition and very rich and authentic and unique...🇱🇰

Salivating just watching y'all dig in. For mine SL food done well is one of the best cuisines out there. A hidden gem and the variety of flavour and texture profiles is amazing as well. Also not too oily, dairy infused or in your face levels of spice flavouring like Indian cuisine. Very much neutral but also very unique.
The only thing is that it can pack a punch so if you're not too fond of chilli it's probably best to let them know beforehand rather than having to figure it out the hard way haha.
