- On this session of Counsel Culture, Nick welcomes back the world-renowned Rev. Dr. Iyanla Vanzant. The two waste no time taking on a typically taboo topic in the Black community, suicide. With much compassion and sensitivity, the Rev. Dr. points to key contributing factors of suicide and focuses primarily on its effect on black men.

We need Iyanla to have her own show again. The end.
💯
Yesss, pls!
Agree and Diddy should be her first guest
Yessss..
I love the way that Nick is very receptive to new information when he knows a person true intention ❤ this is a mark of high intelligence
Amen 🙏🏾 ❤
JESUS ISN'T ON A CROSS! HE ROSE AND HAS THE KEYS TO HEAVEN AND HELL! YESHUA IS ALIVE AND ACTIVE... 🙏🏾
Indeed.
"Do you want to die or do you want to stop hurting?" Damn...
I encountered a pysch professional at a pysch hospital and she would start out the suicide conversation with that statement. People don't wanna die they just wanna stop hurting. And it opened my eyes so much
PLEASE HAVE the beautiful, talented, innovative Dr. Iyanla Vanzant back...FREQUENTLY.
Sincerely,
A truly inspired psychology student.
Greetings. My son was vegan, a personal trainer, mentor, and a massage therapist. No children and have never been in trouble with the law. He took his life in August of 2023. He was only 27 and was born on Mother's Day. There's not a day that passes when I don't think of him or cry.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your son. I honestly don't know if I could function if I lost one of my children. I hope you find someone who can help you cope w the pain and grief you're dealing with. ❤
This brought tears to my eyes...deepest sympathy and love to you.... he seemed to love and appreciate health I hope that inspires you to invest in the health of healing
Nick is soooo comfortable,,authentic and free when he's in Rev Iyanla"s presence...beautiful.
"I don't know which emotion to take seriously" 🤯🤯
I know that this conversation was for men, but I NEEDED to hear this today! Keep’’em coming!!!❤❤❤
Iyanlas wisdom is so divine!
Iyanla is a blessing to the Culture
Man this was like a live counseling session they way she got him saying "I" and owning it
this is such a good convo! no one talks about how men, especially black men don't feel like they have an outlet to talk about the things that they go through!
I love that Nick did more listening and not talking. The information she gave deserved to be heard!
Wishing Nick the best in his endeavor to find self again and rise out of depression 💗
I am a mother of boys and these conversations are so important! After watching this I'm goning to respond to my sons differently when they cry now...
9:30 - "You have to be inauthentic" hit home. The code switch is so real. And I've seen people code switch long enough that it becomes them. I stay rooted in my culture and just pray that's enough for it never to become me. This show, these talks, are essential
Man, did it ever. Inauthenticity leads to self-contempt (self-loathing) which leads to confusion which leads to distrust of our own selves. And all we ever hear from women is that we're all liars who only want one thing.
I truly love Iyanla, she's the only sane elder we have of doing proper healing and creating understanding. So many gems dropped and balance shown here.
I'm So proud of Nick for him making this platform I wish my husband was watching fr I love my black King n they deserve to have a safe space good on you.❤❤❤❤
20:51 The doctor's name is Jill Bolte Taylor and her book is My Stroke of Insight:A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey.
She made Yeshua a mere thought and not a person who took our guilt and shame in exchange for His healing and peace. It is NOT found within us, in us without Christ is dark and confused.
There's men out here doing great work for other men. That timeline is truly based on what is put in that search bar. Dr. Jay Barnett is pouring into the young men. It's so beautiful. You should look him up! Keep doing your work, Nick *hugs*
As a mental health provider, I will say it's all spiritual at the end of the day. This world is full of trauma experiences and evil that you have to have a spiritual compass to survive/thrive. A mental health provider simply helps you process and talk (challenge your cognitive distortions) about it with an objective, empathetic, and skilled person who provides a confidential safe space.
😢😢😢😢 This episode makes me want to go hug man 😢😢😢
I love these spaces for men.
This was amazing, men need to hear this.
Hey 👋 Nick cannon I love you ❤️
I loved this. Nick is amazing. I love that he said yes to this assignment. I love mama Iyanla too!
Come on with that stand in that you got power. I FOREVER WILL LOVE IYANLA❤
Knowing there's a higher frequency doesn't mean you're operating in it... speaking from me and to me...
Amazing , amazing video bring her back please!
this one was in the top 5% of the show. she dropped straight fire. how many things do you have to balance in your life - career, marriage, bills etc. take time for you and be grateful to be alive! If you need help, seek it especially if you are a veteran.
This is such a great platform! Nick this is when they say you are being your own case study. Thank you for your transparency!
She's beautiful
Wowwww Nick he gets by disassociating when he talks about pain or truama he keeps saying we or they but Iyanla is catching him Everytime and making sure he claims it I pray that he will start claiming his feelings after this so he can really heal and get even more understanding ❤
This hit home for me!!! Nick keep it coming my guy
Mam... the God of your understanding hit my confused spirit too hard ❤❤❤❤😭
Peace family ... #Needed Iyanla is always refreshing through trial and tribulation with the truth and practical application to understand... - Thanks for the book recommendation too...
Yes!!!!!!!! More of this conversation ❤❤❤❤❤ thank you Nick!!
Nick your always working ❤️🔥❤️🔥
When looking for a therapist, always consult with/interview more than two bc you are literally hiring an employee. Who hires the first person they meet?
Blessings
Love you both! ❤
Great healing information
This was such a beautiful and necessary conversation. ❤
Iyanla 🙌
This is great and I do this kind of work all the time with people. I especially do this work with men. I’m here and ready to work.
It's amazing how quickly she zeroed in on the reality of (AA) male suicide, "men are demeaned, diminished, devalued..." As she says, everybody knows how many children Nick has but almost no one knows that three times as many (AA) men die from suicide every year than (AA) women, that Black men are suffering. It truly is depravity.
It’s so sad. I pray Nick comes to see through Jesus we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and is our safe place.
I love y’all 😊
Great episode!!!
💪🏾💯🔥💥
Jesus is the answer 🙌
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gods of your understanding what? Our merciful GOD the ONE & ONLY not female nor male black nor white or any other race!!
Love Iyanlas! However, it was a very hard watch on Nick’s part. I felt like she was having a convo with her teenage nephew.
I would love for you to address what the onslaught of babies was about because that wasn't an accident. What was the psychology behind this. No judgement!
Is he a host or a client? The real work has to be done outside of the public's eyes and not on this platform. Nick is a brave soldier in trying to balance the two. Well done. But he needs his own private space to be helped to heal, off camera. It takes a minimum of 3 Months therapy/ counselling to recover from 1 year of trauma and even then, all isn't resolved. In this instance there is need for ongoing work, support and strategies to help this brave black man to navigate through the generational trauma he is victim of. Money doesn't solve everything. Remember that.
Think of Ian on the surface the son with everything.
The God of my own understanding. Why I never heard it like that before? That’s a bad woman
Sincerely ask God to guide you.... And he will.
Say "god guide me" and see what happens
Just drop it in order or the whole clip like why you keep posting clips weeks at a time tryna be mysterious . Knock it off
🤍🤍🤍
His heart wanted to cry but held it together to keep the conversation moving forward. I love that people who don’t have access to therapy, counseling, or feel heard by someone close are able to digest for themselves a little bit of healing ❤️🩹
