    We grew up eating liver once a week. Our mom would serve it with caramelized onions, mashed potatoes, and gravy. The best part was chopped liver sandwiches for lunch the next day. So delicious! When I was pregnant with my kids, in the eighties, pregnant women were still encouraged to eat liver once a week. It was easy on the pocketbook, too. 49 cents a pound, in those days!

    One story; One experience:
    Liver is indeed a life saver.
    My mom and I both almost died when I was born, and so from the moment I graced this planet, nutrition to live became the norm. It was definitely not the norm before that night. I don't mean to offend anyone, but way back in the day, fathers were considered crucial to the health and wholeness of their families, and the entire community and all the doctors and nurses were 100% on board with that truth. My father was given down the road for his 'ignorance' to health and nutrition, and was sent home with a book from the midwife to get 'educated'. He devoured that book and many others.
    Liver was paramount. It started out liquified, turned into paste, then mixed with oatmeal, at some point became a topping for egg sandwiches, and was stirred, mixed, and fried into everything.
    Some how my helpless innocent little body couldn't get enough. And as I grew, while my father implemented everything he learned, it quickly became clear that liver was the one thing my body would receive and retain.
    He was also preparing it in various ways for my mother, and teaching her the nutritional ways of cooking as he was learning. She prepared and consumed and served everything he tought her. They took love seriously... very seriously.
    Not long after, my brother was conceived and born...an absolute strapping little thing; healthy as a horse.
    Too many decades to mention later, I still consume liver every day of my life.
    And I still say, Liver is an absolute life saver, though not nearly as sweet. Lol.

      I would also say, the amount of liver I personally consume is relevant to my personal circumstances. I would think a far lesser amount would be sufficient for most. Liver is a wonderful addition to any healthy diet/lifestyle.

My brain cleared up, I have energy again, my deep joint aches have gone away. I had deeply ridged fingernails and they have smoothed out by about 80%. I hate eating it, but it's worth it to me.

      @TiaraonCamera yes. I actually started with a product called Fem Support by Amcestral Supplements. Then I added extra liver capsules with that. I've now switched to whole actual liver, I turn it into jello using grass fed gelatin. I find it easier to swallow that way. Drop chunks down the back of my throat. It is VILE but I feel good.

    • @FromScratchFarmstead
      @FromScratchFarmstead  Год назад +1

      This is a good questions and I'm definitely not a doctor or giving out medical advice. From my understanding Beta Carotene is a pre cursor to vitamin A and but the Vit A in liver is retinol which is the active form and is much more effective. Thanks for watching!

    • @FourOfClubs
      @FourOfClubs 4 месяца назад

      The human body can only convert beta-carotene into real vitamin A (retinol) at very low rates (8%). Some people cannot do it at all.
      Consuming beta-carotene as a way to get "vitamin A" is pointless. If you tried to get it from carrots you'd have to eat more than a pound a day.
      Just consume the real vitamin A from animal-based foods such as organs, eggs, raw milk, etc. It's the only realistic way.
