My fave way to eat liver is in meat loaf. Mince the livers, hearts with regular mince and add lots of cheese, mushrooms, onions and salt. Add some no added sugar tomato sauce on top. It has become a staple in my meal prep.
If you are looking for a milder flavor, soak the livers in milk and drain them before cooking. I use this before dredging them in Caribbean jerk seasoned flour and frying them in a skillet with a saute of julienne onion, celery and bell pepper. Also I like the party snack, rumaki. Marinate livers in a bit of light soy sauce. Wrap bacon around a piece with water chestnut held together with a toothpick and roast in the oven on a sheet tray.
I LOVE chicken liver as well as the hearts and gizzards. They are so good I could eat about 2 pounds in one sitting. On Thanksgiving day, I take the turkey giblets and cook them as a side dish for me to have with my meal.
I've been eating chicken livers with bacon and onions ever since 1973 when it was the cheapest meal at a restaurant in Amsterdam. It fit in well with my traveling on a shoestring. I was 24.
I cooked chicken liver for the first time today. I only used one onion, but I should have used more. It was really delicious. I grew up eating chicken livers and hearts, but my mother overcooked it until they were dry and grainy, so I didn't like it much growing up, but I would still eat it because it's food. Now that I decided to cook organ meats myself, they're surprisingly really tasty. Organ meats sound intimidating to prepare and eat, but they're actually easy to make, and very good for the body.
It's funny when people say they should have covered the flavor even more and then claim it was delicious. My grandmother couldn't eat meat unless it was cooked to the point of being Jerky. Meat has an amazing flavor. If you like to cover it with other flavors, then you do not find it delicious. That's rediculous
I love chicken liver, I eat it several times a week. I simply dump it in a pan to cook on the stove top, then I eat it hot with salt or cold from the fridge with salt!
I cook it with onions after soaking overnight in half n half , I then mix it into a gravy I make with walnut flour and heavy cream ,this I serve over mashed cauliflower .I have a small grass fed ground beef patty w/ketchup and green beans also , I drink a vitamin water made w/stevia leaf extract .Just had it tonight, it's pretty good.
I've recently been researching ways to improve my overall health by changing my diet, since starting menopause, and since I've been eating chicken livers since childhood (my family enjoyed them baked or crumbed for years), I have often wondered if they were actually good for my health. My aunt once told me years ago that they increased toxicity in your body so I should be careful of eating them too often. I didn't know what the right information was, so I came here to find out. Thanks Kait, I am truly amazed that chicken livers have so many incredible health benefits, all of them extremely helpful to menopausal women, being that our aging-onset problems with metabolism/weight gain, heart health, muscle loss, anemia (tiredness and continual fatigue), vision loss and foggy brain/mood swings/poor concentration are all big issues we face during 'change of life'. I shall now increase my intake of chicken liver from once in a blue moon, to a couple of times a month. Here's to good health, cheers! - Suz
So just bought my first tub of chicken livers. Threw like 4 in my eggs and sausage this morning for breakfast and lunch at work. Tried one and was like damn ok. Now it's midnight and I just fried up the whole tub with butter and garlic cuz I'm broke and this is definitely going to be something I eat every week
in philippines we love eating chicken liver putting in chopsuey with vegetables or grilled chicken liver with stick on it or adobong chicken liver alternative with adobong chicken.
The only place I have ever used chicken liver is in stuffing for roasted chicken. I no longer eat stuffing, so I've been at a loss for how to prepare it. Mixing it with hamburger is a great idea! I'll try that first. I will also give the pate' a try, but that will be on your recommendation as I'm open for suggestions for the sake of variety. So here I go! I'm eating carnivore, but am open to adding in small amounts of other low carb items such as you have listed in your pate' recipe. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to more recipes that I may add to my menu.
Been making chopped liver for decades... Basically the pate you show but with more onion, fried in chicken fat, no garlic, and boiled eggs are added before running through a grinder. Light and fluffy served ice cold with bagel chips/rye crisps... Addictive.
Another organ meat that is amazing is lamb liver. Just slice into strips and dredge in coconut flour with salt and pepper and quickly fry. Tastes better than beef liver and is not chewy.
I crave chicken liver!!! I’ve loved it since I was a little girl. Our local hibachi restaurant had it on the menu and I always ordered it. I’ve never been able to recreate that recipe though. Gosh I can taste it now.

We live in Scotland and eat chicken livers regularly. Both as pan fried and as pate. One of the most popular chicken restaurant chains in the UK, originating in South Africa, have kept peri-peri chicken livers on ther menu since their launch nearly two decades ago. I'm refering to "NANDO'S" of course. Great video, on a del😅cious food source.
Chicken liver of free range birds was great but with the captive birds on feed it's a different thing altogether. Chicken feed contains too many unwanted things including hormones, antibiotics, unhatched eggs, animal trimmings...... the list is endless... Add unsold seafood. And the chicken liver has the unenviable task of cleaning out all this with a whole lot of it remaining. So I would advocate liver of only free range birds that feed naturally not the liver of captive chicken fed birds BTW I follow many of your recommendations, which do seem unconventional to the homegrown dietitians herein India, but your suggestions do really work!! 🙏👍
I buy the chicken liver to add to my cats wet food. It’s a very inexpensive nutritious addition. My cats are very healthy. Also they don’t shed like i hear from so many cat owners. My both cats are long haired.
Chicken liver with chicken breast cherry tomatoes olive oil with a home made garlic and herb dressing 👌 magnificent delicious and highly nutritious I had very bad iron levels and since starting eating organ meats I feel 10X better😮
Fry it up with diced onions, chillis, garlic and the add it o top of buttered toast. Add some cream cheese if you want to make it more creamy, vut the burn from fresh chili 😋
How much is too much!! I believe I love the stuff!! Cooked some up for the dog about a month ago and ended up trying some since it smelled so good and ended up eating half of what was for the dog. So last weekend, I grabbed a tub of it. 1.10LBs and just cooked it up. Figured I'd give some to the dog, well, between the Chicken liver and a salad, I just ate most of it, only giving the dog a very small amount of the liver, ( He was very appreciative!) but, I'm guessing after cooking, I at 3/4's of a pound. That's probably too much hu??
Hi there, I don't think I've ever cooked it but I have just bought some. I'm intrigued by butcher crowd, I will look into that; thank you for the promo.
Chicken liver was good with all stir frys or just sautéed. I did make home made liver sushi multiple times (it was cooked) and that was my favorite to use.
Thanks for this. Some of my chickens are getting old, so I'm going to Butcher them, and I was wondering since cow liver is pretty good for you. Is the chicken liver also the same? And now I know! So when I go Slaughter my chickens, I'm going to make a point to save the livers and the bones.
Can i take liver supplements everyday? And how many should i take because on the bottle it says 6 supplements but I heard lots of people said its toxic if i take everyday? Im confused. If you can explain please.
I was lucky, I grew up eating chicken liver. And since meat is relatively expensive here in South Africa, chicken liver is my go to choice as it is cheaper.
Switched to carnivore diet you have been a huge help thank you. chicken liver tolerable beef liver barely tolerable pork liver absolutely disgusting. Lol other than organ meat I love eating like this cheers

Staple in Japanese cuisine
I like chicken liver cooked in olive oil with lots of onion and some garlic
Yes you can literally just dump it in some olive oil and season it like a steak and it comes out great.
I make chopped chicken livers with livers, hard-boiled eggs, onion, a little mayonnaise and sour cream, salt and pepper. So good.

Crisp up the bacon. Preserve. Then brown onion before adding the livers and re-introducing the bacon. Don't over-cook the livers. They become bitter.
