    Hi. I love your videos. They are packed with great advice and insight into interior design and creativity.
    I did want to say one thing regarding your statement about avoiding schools who don't require a portfolio. I am from Canada, and here only the highest schools may require a portfolio. From my own experience, and that shared by others here, Canadian schools are generally more inclusive.. That is, while you may need a certain level of grades, nearly anyone can be admitted into a program of their choosing. I've personally studied in multiple fields, including my current of Interior Design at St. Clair College in Windsor, and I find my professors to be incredible. They bring a lot of experience and knowledge to their courses. I've learned so much, and have begun developing a high level of skills. And again, because of my multiple diplomas and certifications in engineering, I am a good judge of whether they are quality professors; I've had some in the other fields which weren't great at all ; in those courses, I had learnt more from textbooks. I am very happy with the quality of the Interior Design program.

    Hey Jacqueline,
    Thank you so much for making content like this! It's the only source of information I've found that's been super helpful!
    I'm currently working as a Showrooms Advisor at B&Q, studying with NDA part time towards a Diploma in Interior Design and working on my creative skills in my spare time to start getting a portfolio together.
    My question is, would I be able to include some designs I've done at work, be it for customers or when I've had a moment to have a play with our design software?
    I'm also looking at portfolio building courses, do you think that would be beneficial?
    I'm 24 and had no previous plans of going to university when I was younger so having made that decision now, it all seems a little daunting 😂 I wasn't mega academic so I want to give myself the best chance possible of getting accepted.
    Love from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿😊

      Best of luck with your new career path 🤗💗🍀

Question for you, Ideally in the future I would love to design furniture and lighting, is a degree in interior design the way to go? Although I do know people who have left interior design and then gone into lighting design🤷‍♀️

    • @dantierandbalogh

      You do not have to be amazing as most is done on computer! I am not sure where you are based, but as I said in the video, here in the UK you need *usually* 1 creative subject to get into university- plus a whole portfolio with artwork/design work. Sorry if thats not what you wanted to hear! Although I don't think you need to be amazing, you will definitely need to refine your drawing/ art skills as you will use them alot! :)

    Hello, Jacqueline! I am currently studying Interior architecture and I have a little question. Will it be useful for me to focus on BIM software like Revit for example, in order to work abroad? I am from Alexandria, Egypt. I want to work in Germany or UK or USA. So, is it that useful to learn BIM for Interior architectural design? Or do architects (exterior) focus more on it?

    • @dantierandbalogh
      @dantierandbalogh  3 года назад +2

      No you're completely correct to focus on BIM! I use BIM (specifically vectorworks) and I believe in Europe we mainly use vectorworks or revit, and in USA they mainly use Revit- of course with other rendering software too! Check out this video I did on the best software for architects & designers: I talk specifically on which programs are good & not so good ruclips.net/video/sjsksFi78QY/видео.html

      Hi there! First off, good luck with your studies! Laszlo actually went here for his BA in Illustration and said it was very good! I hope that helps you :) Plymouth is a nice city but also by the beach (which of course makes it alot nicer!). Only downside is that after university, most jobs are in London!

    So funny. CAD isn't enough now. Employers want specifically BIM and Revvit.

      Well spotted! Yes I did draw Parvati & Lord Shiva. The artwork was about different buildings and the gods that are worshipped (or associated) with said building. I am very fascinated with Indian culture & Hinduism. Please tell me more if you would like to, as I certainly do not know all🙏🌺
