His whole design explanation was ridiculous. But it was also horribly rendered. But no excuses - no idea how he landed himself there, probably nepotism.
AD really needs to give us more of this series, with more designers and more often. The bathrooms in this one were ok. Laura's was nice, clean and usable, but there was no excitement. Patrick's made me feel like I was visiting the Golden Girls and Xavier's... Xavier's... SMH, Bless his heart. I was rooting for him to do better after that dorm room fiasco and while this was better, it was still , well, Xavier. The whole time I kept wondering what Noz and Darren would have done with the space. I like to see what all the designers create even if I think some of the designs are hideous. It's still fun to see .
I would toned down about 35% of Patrick's design to get perfect for me. I rather have the original one to get Xavier's 😅 nothing makes sense and looks ugly and where are the storage?
Oddly, out of all three, it's _Laura's_ that strikes me as the anonymous-looking hotel bathroom. As someone who's stayed in a lot of decent hotels around the world while working, I have _never_ walked into one like Patrick's - and I really wish that I had!
Laura's design is truly functional and you wouldn't dread going in to wash your face in the morning. The other ones are sensory overload. Especially if this is the only bathroom.
Agreed. I'm sorry that the bathing space does not support some sort of sit-down or bath capability, since there's a time and place for both showers and baths.
Laura is the winner. She also thought and mentioned practical uses of a bathroom, like properly see your face when looking at a mirror (hello?) and the safeness of a shower floor. Would hire her in a minute.
I love all three! The vibrant green and tropical hues of Patrick’s, the clean, minimalist yet elegant style of Laura’s, and Xavier’s simple yet striking design.
I liked elements of all three designs: - Patrick’s color palette (but not too much of the wallpaper) - Xavier’s heated towel rack and focal wall in the shower (maybe make that a mosaic peacock or mosaic of the leaves instead) - Laura’s floating toilet and a sink cabinet (and the niche if it doesn’t mess up the mosaic) - I prefer the spa shower over the tub This shows that if you get multiple design ideas you can draw upon what really appeals to and inspires you!
At the beginning, I was expecting to like Xavier’s bathroom the most, just based on the examples that were shown, but Patrick really surprised me and won me over! I love how much colour he integrates, yet it still feels very serene!
I loved Patrick’s bathroom. Everything about it made me feel great. Laura’s is next up because it’s functional and practical and elegant. I only like the heated towel rack for Xavier sorry to say 😭 I think the whole public pool theme gives me the ick tbh
All in on Xavier’s design - perfectly captures the period modernist vibe he was going for. Agree with him on fun showering with the mosaic Roman. And great storage cleverly concealed behind panels on the sink wall.
I guess it just shows how different tastes can vary. I hated his so much!! I hate public bathrooms, I don't want that feeling in my personal bathroom!!
In spite of not loving the toilet or sink or towel rack, Xavier's was my favorite, too! I would have liked some golden or warm-hued stone fixtures (as well as brass for the showerhead and towel rack) to contribute more to the monumental feel rather than the public pool direction. I will do whatever possible to minimize how many items I have on display in any space, though, so I also loved the concealed storage!
Are we really back to avocado bathroom suites?! 😂 Laura's design is so elegant and practical, but the others also have elements that would be fun to incorporate.
LOVE this series and love how they get to react to each other's designs! the two gentlemen created very unique, artistic bathrooms but Laura's is the only one I'd actually want to live in haha
Xavier’s is too out there for me. In my heart I would love to have Patrick’s design. My head is screaming Laura, Laura, Laura. In reality, it’s the original bathroom!
Darren is my all time favorite but I always love how functional and beautiful Lauren makes her spaces and feel like they're the most usable/commonly chosen by the public
I was a bit skeptical of Patrick's design at first, when it looked like he was putting wallpaper in a shower LOL. But when he replaced the shower for a tub, it made a bit more sense. I think his design is beautiful. I wouldn't be able to use it as an everyday bathroom, since I would need a shower, but it is a gorgeous second/guest bathroom. Absolutley love the lush greens!
These vlogs are so much fun! Please continue this series. Laura: If I win the lotto, I'll be calling. We all need a little more warm but calmness in our lives😊
I liked all three. The designers did a great job. I like Xavier used a bit of restrain this time. It's a clear vision and an interesting bathroom! The designers weren't given restrictions but Laura's is so functional. She's clearly in tune with clients and practicals. I also feel like she nailed some great ideas for a bathroom. Warmth, calm, a bit of elegance. Loved her talking about a less slippery floor. I'm not 100% on the dresser but it's the room that's the most satisfying? The one I'd be happiest with the longest? Really did enjoy all of them.
Just about to renovate a bathroom almost the same size so this was super cool to see three totally contrasting outcomes in the same space (yes, this video was suggested to me by youtube, only two days after gmailing the contractor - draw your own conclusions!)
I love the bamboo mirror and towel ladder in Patrick's space, and the mosaic tile ( without the Roman) in Xaviers, But for me Laura's is perfect. I love how calm and peaceful it is, and a plant, candle, and a piece of art and I'd be happier.
Laura really spoke to me. The dresser-sink, I LOVE and it just felt so clean and warm and tasteful and a place I would like to be at the beginning of the day, getting ready, or after running six miles and taking my time to shower and moisturize, while listening to music. She did that.
I love that all the designers chose tile floors, and the choices diverged wildly. Just shows how versaTILE it is. I do wonder how the wooden dresser will fare over time in such a moist environment. Love the idea of the mosaic Roman and the pool vibe in Xavier's design. Also like the luxury of the heated towel rack. I'm not sure why designers always make the bath vs shower such a black and white argument. Can't we have both? Not sure I loved the wallpaper in Patrick's design, but liked he was unafraid of color.
I love Laura's bathroom the most. It's serene, elegant and luxurious. Actually, the style and some of the solutions are pretty close to the bathroom that we designed for our new house.
in the words of Paul Hollywood, "style over substance" seems to consistently rule this AD series. The existing vanity wasn't inspired, but it was functional. The cool think about tiny space vids is the clever, design-conscious ways they consider maximizing storage and plurality of uses. It's like these folks don't have any concept of the living needs of a space.
That niche in Laura's design is superb! I am a bath tub person so I love the escapism design by Patrick, minus the peacock and I would have a stool chair in the bamboo theme without a back.
Laura's is perfect and I love she thought about the storage, but I just adore the feel, vibe and choice of materials of Patrick's..these videos are very inspirational
Almost everyone is loving on Laura's bathroom, with the exception of the vintage vanity, I hate it. I love the walk-in shower with giant mosaic, although a different mosaic for me. I also love the blue tile, but then I already have a similar blue on my bathroom ceiling. Xavier wins hands down for me.
Laura as always did the most functional design. I get that interior design doesn’t always have to be functional it can serve the purpose of just being visually interesting. Having said that I don’t like the jungle bathroom it’s too tacky and doesn’t even make sense, how would u shower??? The pool themed room is i think visually pretty interesting (except the Roman mosaics I feel they stick out too much and don’t really go with the rest of the room) and there is no way u would fit in ur essentials in there.
One wants bring an outdoor bathroom's vibes into a small bathroom, another one wants to bring a swimming pool's vibes into a small bathroom. Then, there's Laura - That's what a bathroom must looks like on a small place. Simple, beautiful, warm and functional.
I absolutely LOVE Patrick's color scheme! 😍. The colors and wallppaer are absoutle GOREGOUS. For me, I would remove the peacock, the little chair and I would probably custom build shelving around the tub so that's there's more space.
Xavier is a handsome talented genius. I would like to win the lottery, hire him to redesign the entire 1840s Greek Revival house I buy somewhere on the Connecticut coast, and then, after we’ve fallen in love during the design process (was it when we went antiquing in the Berkshires? When we grazed hands over pizza at Sally’s? Or was it when he read this comment?) and we live happily ever after. Wish me luck.
1. Literally nobody thought of storage. Lots of storage. Shelves ? 2. People love wide sinks. 3. People love tubs. 4. Lighting is important. 5. Sockets -more of them. 6. Floors can be slippery. 7. Handles for those that need balance. Especially elderly. Disabled. 8. Huge mirror -lowered or long. For those that are in wheelchairs . Many cant see their faces the mirrors are too high.
I get why everyone is praising Laura's design, but let's be real... no-one is watching this series to sea realistic budget-friendly spaces but rather extravagant, dreamy ones. As much as I loved her design it's just something I see a lot and if I was a designer and had unlimited budget then I would definitely went crazier than her. For me today's winner is Xavier
I feel the same way, Laura's is nice and all but I've seen it in every interior design magazine. Unique, edgy, outside the box designs create trends and stand out over time, but most people want something familiar and clean.
The first thing to keep in mind while doing a small space is definitely storage and clear space . Simple clean and airy. Laura’s is simple there is not much of a change I like Xavier’s looks more spacious and not cluttered. But I definitely love the original one cause it has everything a tub a shower etc except the colours
I think all the designs are beautiful, it just shows their difference in personality. But because I like it calm and classy, I would definitely go for Laura's
I like Xaviours the best it really looks so new and striking. Laura’s I like second best it is quite warm and elegant. Third I like the standard grey bathroom they all started with! As Patrick’s just goes backwards where I think just the standard grey would be nicer
Laura nailed it, in fact I have a Kohler wall mounted toilet and shower length niche in my bathroom remodel as well as wall mounted vanity the only thing she missed was the handheld bidet with hot cold mixing valve
I’d go with Laura’s. I love how intimate it makes me feel to be taking my warm shower in that shower after a long day. The fact that its dark too. Ahh ❤
xavier and patrick gave no storage space however i actually liked xaviers room in the end and didnt expect too, patricks felt wierd especially with wallpaper in the bathroom . Laura gave a chic functional bathroom with space to add to add your own touches . shes kind of iconic!
Laura is the one that gets hired the most. I would add some plants or flowers to give it some character, but overall, flawless.
Loved the lack of tiles in the shower… so easy to clean! ❤

Laura Hodges created the most user-friendly design in American style. not too bright, but there is also storage space.
Only Laura thought about storage
And let's face it, trying to hand shower in that hothouse bathtub with no curtain will be an interesting experience.
Laura is the hero of this one
Nope Patrick won
I loved the Green!! Storage is a must though. I would’ve chosen a small cabinet or dresser instead of a pedestal sinks. Otherwise it was perfect.
Not really, Xavier did include hidden cabinets in the wal for storage, he just did it in a non boring way.
Laura's: calming and elegant. Xavier's: tasteful and inspired. Patrick's: really lively and playful. Well done, all!
The ladies vision was my cup of tea...loved it ..sophisticated and functional
Laura's was the best design: minimal, very functional for storage/daily use products, light and made it look bigger

Nah I got you. It looks too garish and it doesn't even pops out due to the wallpaper. I'd just swap it for some shower shelves.
I love everything about Patrick's design
The blue in the tiles is a bit too far but otherwise it's pretty cool
