Hello I am michel from Lebanon and I am an interior architect. I am really happy with this video cauz I guess this is a common problem everywhere no one knows the difference. I finally now I have the right answers to convince other what is the difference heheheh
😂😂😂 😂made me laugh! Well if it's any consolation, interior arch has treated me well- so a good path to choose😁 Hope I can help with any career advice if I can! Jacqueline☺️
I'm probably going to chose interior architecture, interior design is... a bit more on the creative side I think this is just right, for now that is! I still have 3 more years to decide what to take loll :)
please choose wisely! I’m almost finishing my first year in interior architecture and design. I thought that I liked to do interior design and architecture but the work is too much for me to enjoy it at all. It has caused my mental health to be heavily compromised. So, I’m deciding to get a change in course and restart my studies. So please research on what you reallt like thoroughly and make an informed decision!
Absolutely LOVED this video. As an interior design student finishing up my certificate I cannot tell you the frustration about the misconception people have between decorator and designer. Am going to refer to this video for people who don't fully understand as you explained the different in a beautiful way!
Thank you for making the difference clear. It is highly frustrating that people dont know the difference. I feel like the misunderstanding makes people cheapen what we actually do, annoying as hell lol
as a working professional interior designer who is currently in the process of getting a masters in interior architecture, i was curious to see how u wud explain the difference. I feel the difference between interior architecture & interior design is getting less with time given the ever increasing requirements & accreditations for interior design (I'm based in USA), but you really explained it so well! *side note I just realized I typed a whole essay, but for anyone who is confused about the work of an interior designer, because I sure was when I started my undergrad program, hope this helps. I have a commercial interior design background & I'm just starting out really - there are so many different career paths you can take with an interior design degree, I took a pretty commercial/corporate route but there are plenty of other options, residential, or working at smaller firms that specialize in a particular industry like food & service, hospitality, etc. There's also the option of shifting your career into a different design profession. The basis of any Design degree is the same 1st year core classes of basic design principles. Interior designers, industrial designers, graphic designers, fashion designers all take these same basic courses. interior design is probably the hardest to transition to just because of all the additional accreditation requirements & information relating to the built environment that is critical to being a good interior designer, but it's doable & much easier than transitioning into a completely different field. Now, in regards to the difference between interior architecture & interior design, in my firm I definitely see the architects being the ones who do programming/circulation/ca/coordinating structural details with structural engineers, etc, but there is also so much overlap. for example, the senior interior designer in my office can do all of this as well. I also know personally I learned programming/zoning & circulation planning in my undergrad accredited interior design program. as a junior interior designer at my current firm I've been working in BIM software (revit) & working on detail drawings for interiors (millwork/finish details & coordinating inconsistencies of design in the interior) along with other things like furniture plans, finish selections, hardware, etc. I've also done material boards & also I remember in my 1st week they had me work on a test fit/space program for an office but i did it so bad they never asked me again T_T I was NERVOUS ok... & like I said, just starting my career. But I can expect that I'll probably do that at some point in the future again. One major difference I really feel though is when you are working with architects, they themselves have no idea what interior designers actually learn (or many of them dont), so you will find a lot of push and shove between interior designers & architects who's skills overlap but where architects seem to see Interior designers as closer to decoration at times... The senior interior designer in my office said that when she's discussed distribution of work with the architects in the firm, she has had to describe the interior's team capabilities as the work of interior architecture for them to understand what interior designers can do. So in conclusion, with the title of interior architect, you will be able to better represent yourself as capable of things that you may already know how to do as an interior designer. whether you need the title of interior architect or not is honestly up for debate. I'm getting my master's degree because I know I plan on working in different regions and I want to make sure my skills are understood no matter where I work, basically make my resume universal. If you plan on building your roots in a particular market/area, you probably wouldn't need that as the industry is small in different cities & if you are a good interior designer who has high skills, people will know. There is 1 thing though, with interior design, there are still many interior designers who prefer to stay completely out of the technical side, so I think that doesn't help much with the confusion on the skill range of interior designers because there's inconsistency within the profession. Because of that, I think that's where the interior design certifications come in to play. the more certifications/accreditations you have, the more that will say about your own interests and which areas you excel in or prefer to work in. different firms need different levels of technical skill so it's possible to build your career how you want, whether that's leaning closer or further from architecture. That may change as the accreditation requirements for the interior design profession increase, but for the moment, there is some freedom with that. also side note - I went to a CIDA accredited interior design program (which makes a difference for those of you looking at schools - you will find that CIDA accredited programs lean much closer to that fine line between interior design & interior architecture vs non-accredited schools which take an approach that is probably the line between interior decoration & interior design. That's not a bad thing, it really just depends on where you want your career to go. **1 clarification though, if you want to be titled an interior architect with the same skill level as an architect but specialized in interior, that is a different hurdle from interior design. at least in the US, you would need to take the architectural exams (ARE exams) which are practically like the bar exam for law. architects need to do like 5 exams & that involves way more technical knowledge & will give you the power to approve your own drawings, something that is not possible for interior designers at any level. the NCIDQ exams interior designers take will not give you that power, and are more about certifying that you have the full knowledge of an interior designer. that consists of 3 exams.
Well I just finished 5 years of architecture to find out I want interior design all along which could be made in less time and learn what I really wanted to learned. Great life is going just great
I found this video informative and interesting so thanks. With regards to job titles. I studied the subject of Interior Architecture and Design at uni. However, my understanding is that I can't call myself an "Interior Architect" but I can legally call myself an "Interior Designer". This is what the BIID says about it: Whilst the term Interior Architect is commonly used in some countries, under the 1997 Architects Act it is illegal in the UK to refer to yourself as an Interior Architect unless you have had the education, training and experience needed to become an architect and are registered with the Architects Registration Board which is the UK's statutory regulator of architects.
YES! I'm an Interior Architect student and I haven't really designed a house other than one with a 25sqm limit. There's ALOT more that goes into Interior Architecture but honestly, It's not all bad if you're passionate about it. But also, in my University, I do still study for 4 years...
AS AN INTERIOR ARCHITECT I WANT TO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE VIDEO. THIS NEEDS TO BE WELL KNOWN FOR ALL THE PEOPLE, I GET REALLY TIRED FROM ALWAYS TRYING TO EXPLAIN MY JOB..
I’m an interior architecture student and I love this video because you have no idea how many times do I have to explain de difference to my friends and family. Also hate it when architects simply see us as interior designers and it’s like no I can do what you do and I can do what they do much better than how you will do it. Lol
Hi :) I started this year studying interior design&styling in the Netherlands. I knew the basic distinction but this really cleared it out for me! Right now we are studying architecture, engineering and materiology. Thank you for the vid. I enjoyed and learned from it!
Hi if you don’t mind me asking, to which school/university do you go? I live in the Netherlands too, but I have no idea where and how to find the right school
thank you so much, everyone has been telling me, "why are you going for interior design in university, its easy" and it makes me feel like im going easy on the world. This video has made me more sure of what i want to do. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this.. I’m actually in my first semester of architecture but extremely confused as I’m kind of swerving towards interior and ngl I actually see myself as one.. ur video was beautifully explained ty again!
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for this video! I reeeeeally want to be an interior designer, but the college I got accepted only offers interior architecture and design. With this video I got super relieved and excited. Cuz I actually can be an interior designer after all! Thank youuuuuu
Still don't regret taking Architecture, though I'm kind of interested in Interior Architecture. All information in this video was taught in our school. Made me love architecture even more because one can learn so much, from theories to design philosophies and more. Man, architecture just wants to give love to humans, nature, art, science, and math. Besides, most of the work aspect mentioned in the video is being practiced by Architects in the actual field tho. 😂😎
Im a 2nd yr architecture student. I saw this because I became interested in interior architecture as well. I guess this is just depends on a school bc what it has explained for interior architecture somehow applies to architecture schooling aspects. So it just really depends on the school and your passion. Thanks for this video!
Im an interior design student and we're basically doing the things that you mentioned about interior architect's tasks. We're still gonna be recognized as designers after we graduate and get license tho
this was really helpful! thank you, you really helped me cause i was thinking about wether to do architecture or interior design, i loved both. i knew about interior architecture but not specifically what we can do. and you explained the difference really well! keep it up!
Very useful information! I would love to learn more about the classes one takes during interior architecture--especially if it is an online degree. How are the history classes, the design fundamentals, the projects. I really would like to understand what I may see while taking an interior architecture degree. If you could make a video about this, it would really help! Thank you!
After watching this video I was more informed about what an interior designers responsibilities are. I feel more educated about what I am aiming to become and understanding the reason behind so much preparation I believe if anyone want to be come interior decorators, interior designers or Architects this video would educate them in some way take care everyone.
Thank you for this video...so I want to be only focusing on the appearance of the place and use the space equally but still confused interior designer or interior architecture
Hi, could you do a video on sustainability’s relationship to architecture specifically? It seems like a fascinating subject and I would love to know more about how we can move towards more sustainable buildings and homes!
Hi Priya! Thanks so much for your suggestion, I will add it to my video list☺️ There's SOOO much to talk about when it comes to sustainable design, so I think that it would make a really good video! 🍃 Thanks for subscribing too😁😁
thank you so much for posting this video I am currently in an interior design program but the school is very focused on pushing out interior decorators to work within residential and commercial markets. I found that the school calling as an interior design program was incredibly misleading luckily I have found another school in my area that leans more into interior design and interior architecture.
Yes that's why I made the video! It's so annoying & misleading! Here in the UK anyone can call themselves an interior designer (unfortunately) even if they haven't done any studying🤦♀️🤦♀️ All the best with your course! Jacqueline😊
Gah! I just had a conversation with a GC about this last night because I'm trying to get into this job but I didn't know what it's called or the differences between design and architecture as far as where their job are separate and where they overlap. Instant follow! I want to know everything about this! Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I always wanted to become an interior architect and thinking it needed to do the job of interior stylist . Now i finally founded what i really wanted and the real namen ! AGAIN THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
In four months I can finally call myself an interior architect! thank you for the video! I also have to explain the difference between what I am studying (Interior Architecture) and interior design almost every time someone asks me about my education. 😅
Thanks for this video. It's very informative. I'm thinking about a career change into interior design and trying to learn more before I dip my toe into returning to school. Thanks for clearing things up! I now know I'm more interested in design/architect than decorating.
I LOVED LOVED this video. I´m an Interior Designer, and many times when i say that i am, people end saying "oh, what colour should i pain my wall then". That is NOT what i do thank you very much. You explained it really well!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! This video was very informative. Thank you for taking the time to throughly explain the differences in all 3 of these professions. I will be starting my academic journey in January, a 2 year program, and I will be studying Interior Design. I plan on obtaining my BS in Architecture upon the completion of the 2 year program. I knew I wanted to combine both Architecture and Interior Design, but I just did not know how. This video showed me that being an Interior Architect is the perfect solution for me to do both. Thank you again for making this video!!!
Have never come across a better explanation of the difference between the streams! You've explained exactly why I wanna pursue my higher studies in interior architecture after studying architecture for undergraduate. Thankyou!
Yes yes yes FINALLY!😍 Someone explaining for the public online on RUclips the difference between interior decoration, interior design and interior architecture!👏🏻😍🌟 This is such a reliever for me!😅 Because I’m an interior architecture student myself and in family gatherings or in gatherings with my friends from other majors like medicine or law or even my high school friends group I tend to take a little bit longer to explain to them why I’m more than an interior designer\decorator and why I’m also different than an architect!😂 And now I can just also share the link of this video with them and bob’s your uncle!😂 Also one thing I’d like to add is that one of the most prevalent features that can distinguish an interior architect from an interior designer or an architect, is the bond between architecture philosophy\ideation and interior spacial design as 3D not just 2D, something an interior architect would consider throughout his or her design process to connect the outside with the inside and also we as interior architects can work on landscape projects because we have the spacial and outdoor building material knowledge that an architect has but with the eye for extra detail that an interior designer would have.👍🏻😁 All in all solid channel and solid content y’all! Well done!👏🏻And good luck with this amazing channel of yours guys!😍 I hope in the future you get the recognition and following that you deserve!👏🏻🥰 Lots of love from Saudi Arabia😄💚🇸🇦 Edit: Also I just subscribed right now! Obviously! Duh! LOL 😂
Omg thank you so much for this lovely comment! I wish you all the best for your studies too😁🍀 Thank you so much for subscribing & leaving comments- it means more to us than you know! Jacqueline 😊
As a trained Interior Decorator in South Africa. We were not boxed in to residential spaces only. We were also trained to decorate Commercial structures as well, your retail structures, hospitals etc. We were also trained in 15% of architecture. Also, the wonderful thing about the training we got is that, we were trained to manufacture the furniture we designed, as opposed to interior designers who would outsource the manufacturing of the furniture piece they designed. As I continued to listen, everything you mentioned about Interior Design, we did all of that.
For the interior lighting, are you producing youself or outsourcing? For example, if you get an office decoration projects, are you contracting the lighting, furniture also or only output the design drawing?
This is really, really helpful. I already have two degrees but have been interested in architecture for a few years now. I'm so glad I found your video because it helped me to understand that what I'm really interested in is interior architecture/design. I relate so much to what you're saying- how you love how the design of a space forms a symbiotic relationship with the people who inhabit that space. I have been hesitant to pursue architecture because I was unsure/didn't know what it entailed, but now I think I just may go for it. Thank you!
Wow thank you for this lovely comment! I'm so happy that I could help you 💓 I hope that you have a great career in interior architecture, it really is both creative and rewarding. Sometimes people think interior design is very superficial or pointless, but no-one really understands that what we do, *LITERALLY* shapes the way people act, think and feel in every space they are in!Jacqueline😊
interior architecture student here! thanks so much for explaining all this. it’s hard to explain when people ask what i’m studying. they always think of what they see on HGTV.
you know Jacqueline i agree , and i have the same problem in my country and tried to explaing it to people as much as possible i noticed this around the world , the word of " interior design " is much more spread than " interior architecture " , so goes for the database of the search online
Thank you. I kept wondering why the decorators on tv shows hardly talk about how a room effects the lives of people living in it. Home owners could be complaining about a noise problem and they'll suggest knocking down walls, which I would think would add to the noise problem. I've been drawing alternative floor plans occasionally since childhood. I'd like to know more about how things like floor plans, sound absorption and transfer, and other aspects of interiors make homes easier or harder to live in. Do interior architects take sensory processing differences into account?
Absolutely! We have to take into consideration many different aspects. Of course there are also people who go off and specialise in certain areas such as lighting, sound proofing etc. Those are the real experts😁
@@dantierandbalogh Nice. Thank you. I haven't found much information on floor plans and other details from a sensory sensitivity perspective. Most of what I have found about interior design and autism, ADHD, and other disorders concerns schools and home sensory stimulation rooms for children. Most soundproofing videos are for music rooms, although there are some general advice videos. Are there interior architecture materials about designing homes for sensitive adults and families? I have ideas from my own life experience but home shows would think they are blasphemous.
It feels like the difference between a decorator and designer is well laid out, but I am having problems with the distinction between an interior designer and an interior architect as you described it. Here in the US, or at least in the markets I've worked in there has been a hard line between Architect and Interior Designer both will do some space planning, but structural is in the domain of the architect, and materials tend to be the scope of the interior designer. In the UK, who controls certifications for Interior Architects, is it RIBA or is it someone else? Here in the US, we have NCIDQ for interiors and the AIA for architects.
Hi yes in the USA it is very different to here in Europe. I've even heard that there is no such thing as an interior architect over there?! I talk about this and clear it up in this video: ruclips.net/video/4RcwCH_BBCI/видео.html
this is exactly what I want to do, I am learning revit and auto cad right now with the hopes of going to interior design school. . I am new and going to be watching for sure
Hi Nancy! Thanks so much :) You're learning Revit so I assume you're US based. Both good programs to learn, software knowledge will put you far ahead others once you are in design school! I wish you all the best & thanks so much for watching :) Jacqueline
Thank you so much for explaining what's the differences between those 3 I've been studying interior architecture course for about 2.5 years and i still wouldn't have known the differences are between designers and interior architect. Your video is super helpful
This is something I've struggled a lot black walls are my also love the industrial look mixed with the modern was my architect and I made my apartment my best friend.
wow. I congratulate your elucidation. I am an Electrician with high school diploma and I am really love to become an interior architect. Please if you can do a video on the guide lines of becoming my dream, that will be so fantastic of you. Thanks.
As a student who is in my last year of high school...this has helped me so much!! I definitely know where I'm planning to head in the future now!!!! Thank you so much :)
I’m an architecture student - almost graduating and I like the idea of interior architecture, I surprisingly never heard of it before (?) can I be an interior architect with my architecture degree? Xx
Yes you can be an interior architect with an architecture degree, with the knowledge of architecture you can do that with no problem because interior architecture is a fraction of architecture that you learn on a bachelors of architecture, actually an architect has to design the interior in order to design the exterior of a building, interior architecture is for those we don’t like a lot of the aspects of architecture and prefer to study the amazing world of interior design mixed with architecture but not everything about architecture (mee I think is more funnyy)
Regarding building regulations- do you refer to the aforementioned books in your video? Do IBC apply to the UK projects? Where do you learn exhaustive do-s and don’t-s in terms of regultions?
I'm taking BS Architecture as an incoming 1st year student next week but also want to take interior design (it's a recent new course in our school and the school I go to is the first university to offer Intrdesign in the region) tho I plan to take interior design course on my second year but I'm torn whether to should or should not pursue it since architecture is already stressful and has a lot of schoolworks and thinking to do double major will be more stressful
So I have a diploma in interior design decided to get a certification and interior decorating just to have some credentials behind me but here in the states I don't think they offer interior architect and if so I'm only seeing it at 4 years is that accurate because I am thinking and considering going to architect School and like yourself I love the interior decorating and design a little bit more but I also do like some structural so I'm thinking interior architect would be perfect for me because it's kind of like the best of both worlds
Good Explination dividing the different careers. It is, however, really important to state that you cannot call yourself an interior architect in the UK by law without being a fully qualified and licensed architect who's completed their RIBA part 3 (a minimum of 7 years of education). If you have studied interior architecture which is not accredited or you are not a fully qualified architect you are, in essence, an "interior designer" or an "interior architectural designer" not an interior architect here in the uk.
Wow, interesting. I didn't know that interior design & interior architecture are actually different. I went to college as interior design student but it seems like I studied interior architecture too, well not all but most of it. Also, how long I studied, my college be like 4 years lol oh well
Hello, i am in 11th grade and i just learned difference between interior designer and interior architect and realised that what I wanted to be was not interior designer but interior architect. Thankyou so much for that. I want to study in Uk , so can you suggest me some good universities for it. Thankyou:)
You're so welcome! Obviously Falmouth University (my uni lol) but I'm biased😆 Check out my new video on portfolios, as I cover alot of uni info in that one. Which one to pick etc👍 Jacqueline 😊
Hi, I started questioning myself a lot as an interior architect, as I felt a crisis of not knowing what our purpose is in the architecture industry. As I've been browsing through job ads, they are mainly for architects or 3d modelers or interior designers, and I feel more like solving problems of movement and perception of space, creating mood and atmosphere in the interior rather than drawing furniture, although I wouldn't object creating a furniture solution , but I would also like to think bigger, as in how that exterior influences the interior. I really like working on a figuratively speaking a "shell" that architect prepared and then developing a functional environment depending on the use required by the client.
By the way, in my country to become an Interior Architect, you have to first study 3 years to become Bachelor of Architecture, and then 2 years to become Master of Interior Architecture. I hope this makes some positive difference in our credibility when getting hired to work on projects.
@@RebelleFleur5 yes it can be confusing for sure! I would look at larger architectural firms as they would have the kind of interior architect projects you are looking for☺️🙏✨
Hi! Thats a really good question. Its very competitive to be completely honest with you. Are you based in the UK? As, I am of course speaking from a UK point of view. There are interior design & interior architecture jobs out there for sure and quite a lot, but of course they only go to the top students. AKA your work will have to be top of the class in order to get a job- otherwise your chances are pretty low. But I hope that doesn't discourage you of course- just make sure you're always pushing the boundaries! The salaries remain similar at a lower level, however on higher levels ,e.g. directorship, the salaries jump more in architecture.
Is there alot of difficult math in the studies? My head does not love math unfortunately, but its kinda my dream to be an interior architect! Great video! :D
Thanks so much Fanny!😊 I started A level Maths (but later dropped it due to a crap maths teacher!) thinking that I needed maths for the degree. But here in the UK, you need maths a level to study architecture not interior design/ interior architecture. So hopefully, where you are in the world is ok with no maths :) Also I would say that, in the job/ real-life, the majority of what we do is only geometry and basic maths- certainly not the amount of random crap I was learning at A level (I have never used kinematics, integers or statistical sampling etc EVER AGAIN! So please do not worry. Jacqueline😊✌
@@dantierandbalogh oh my god this is very helpful, thank you for this because I'm doing my A levels with math thinking I needed it to study interior design/ interior architecture and I was starting to lose hope until now.
If I’m being realistic I’m a decorator . But in my heart I wanna do more in the building process I something about hvac and emergency plans frustrates me basically anything that sounds too architect like

Wait i have a question. Like its hard to explain but if you wanna build a house. You have to pick a place or like somewhere. You know? And how do you do that and stuff like do you have to build your own neighborhood or like just how
Thank you for these informations ,Im interested in interior architecture ,I would like to suggest us books or courses and how I can start because i m lost there are many videos about all of that
Im currently taking architecture 2nd yr Im getting anxiety whenever they give us a project Im overthinking if I will be able to finish it on time but thankfully our profs give us extensions, there are just too many considerations and laws in designing structures Im afraid that I will forget them or not do them and if I be able to finish it I probably will just be designing residentials and if not I will pursue interior design
You will be fine! Persevere💖 It is so hard at the time (believe me I've been there😅) But stick with it and once you finish you'll have lots of options and directions you can go in🤗 All the best!🍀
This video explains very well what each profession entails, but it made me even more confused as to what I should go for. Finished highschool this year and decided to take a year off, as my mental health is pretty bad, and I'm not exactly sure what I want in life. I'm really interested in interior design, but I find the idea of keeping up with trends extremely tiring, especially since they come and go really fast in the world of interior design from what I've seen. It's only 3 years for a degree where I'm from though, and everything else is quite appealing. I'm also interested in architecture, and even though it's 6 years here and I've heard it's pure hell, the amount of skills taught in this major is something I can't easily discard, It gives the chance to branch out in many different directions, quite a few graduates not even working in the field of architecture. Not to mention the problem solving aspect of it that I really like the sound of. Or maybe I should go for something else? I really don't know, but I guess I have a year to figure it out and get ready. In your opinion, what are some key elements I should take into consideration that will help me decide?
Hi! So I would say that architecture and interior design is just as hard as eachother - so don't think that interior design degrees are easier!😅😬 Also I wouldn't say interior design is keeping up with trends (not like how fashion is). Yes trends come and go, but I would say most stay😅 There's alot more to interior design than keeping up with trends and all the superficial stuff. Have a look at my other video, what I wish I knew before starting architecture school - that gives more of a specific insight into the degree.
@@dantierandbalogh Thank you for the reply! I'm sorry for my choice of words there, I wasn't trying to say that interior design is a breeze , I understand that both are about the same since they're related. I was simply comparing the two in terms of years, 6 years of pulling all nighters and getting told by professors your work isn't good enough seems worse than 3. Or maybe you just get so desensitized by that point, it doesn't really matter anymore. I also understand that interior design is much more than just trends, I'm just not good with that small aspect of it. In architecture things move slower and it can take years to finish a project, in interior design it's much faster, both having their own pros and cons. I'll definitely check out your other videos, I really like the way you explain things. Also, can an architecture graduate decide to work on interiors only? Or would they need to take some other courses in interiors? I'm sorry for my choice of words in my initial comment, English is my second language so it's a bit rough around the edges, and it was very late when I wrote it :')
Hi, I love the video and is very helpful as Google wasn't giving that much information about what I was looking for. Very much helpful. Although I have one question, what would be a better STRAND to take before proceeding to Interior Architecture?
If I'm not in a place to begin schooling for interior architect work, how would you recommend I begin learning, studying, and practicing how to become good in this space?

as a working professional interior designer who is currently in the process of getting a masters in interior architecture, i was curious to see how u wud explain the difference.
Thank you so much! I love that comment ❤️ That's exactly why I made this video😊

The longest comment I've ever read on the internet but definetly the most useful. Thank you!

Thank you
Well I just finished 5 years of architecture to find out I want interior design all along which could be made in less time and learn what I really wanted to learned. Great life is going just great
I wouldn’t worry! Many architects move over to interior design 😁You will add a different approach to the profession , which is good!
Jacqueline 😊
Well, in my opinion, it's never a problem, it's much more of an advantage for we have a wider range of scope of work.
Same! Im in my last year of architecture (master degree) and i'd love to work as an interior architect
2 o'clock in the morning. That's when I knew, what career I want to pursue. And it's interior designer. I'm in 10th grade, btw. :>

congratulations! What is it that inspires you to become an interior designer?
Bro. It's literally 1am rn and literally same. What college are you at and are you pursuing interior design?
I found this video informative and interesting so thanks. With regards to job titles. I studied the subject of Interior Architecture and Design at uni. However, my understanding is that I can't call myself an "Interior Architect" but I can legally call myself an "Interior Designer". This is what the BIID says about it:
Whilst the term Interior Architect is commonly used in some countries, under the 1997 Architects Act it is illegal in the UK to refer to yourself as an Interior Architect unless you have had the education, training and experience needed to become an architect and are registered with the Architects Registration Board which is the UK's statutory regulator of architects.
I’m currently studying interior design, it’s something I’ve always had in interest in and finally decided to start a program.
YES! I'm an Interior Architect student and I haven't really designed a house other than one with a 25sqm limit. There's ALOT more that goes into Interior Architecture but honestly, It's not all bad if you're passionate about it. But also, in my University, I do still study for 4 years...
Can i drop mathematics at 12th and still become an interior architect? Please reply,i need your help.
What about SOMONE studying architecture in another contract but want to get more specific into interior architecture
AS AN INTERIOR ARCHITECT I WANT TO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE VIDEO. THIS NEEDS TO BE WELL KNOWN FOR ALL THE PEOPLE, I GET REALLY TIRED FROM ALWAYS TRYING TO EXPLAIN MY JOB..
Legit why I made this video😁 I feel you😅 Thank you for your comment 😊😊
This was so helpful. My whole life I’ve loved decorating and floor plans. This really helped me find what I want to do with my life 🙏
Fantastic 😄😄
My grandma loved that Victorian style, but she was a fan of Scandinavian gave me the design help that I happy when I see a smile on her face.
That's lovely 🥺❤️
I’m an interior architecture student and I love this video because you have no idea how many times do I have to explain de difference to my friends and family. Also hate it when architects simply see us as interior designers and it’s like no I can do what you do and I can do what they do much better than how you will do it. Lol
I feel that😅😅 Thank you🥰
Awesome job beautiful lady. Cleared my years-long confusion in terms of interior design/Decoration and just.....a designer.
Hi :) I started this year studying interior design&styling in the Netherlands. I knew the basic distinction but this really cleared it out for me! Right now we are studying architecture, engineering and materiology. Thank you for the vid. I enjoyed and learned from it!
Thank you so much for your comment!😊😊 Good luck too🍀🌟
Hi if you don’t mind me asking, to which school/university do you go? I live in the Netherlands too, but I have no idea where and how to find the right school
thank you so much, everyone has been telling me, "why are you going for interior design in university, its easy" and it makes me feel like im going easy on the world. This video has made me more sure of what i want to do. Thank you so much

i’m 12 and i’ve always had a passion for decorating rooms/outside areas
Same
Im a 2nd yr architecture student. I saw this because I became interested in interior architecture as well. I guess this is just depends on a school bc what it has explained for interior architecture somehow applies to architecture schooling aspects. So it just really depends on the school and your passion. Thanks for this video!
thank you soo much❤❤ most people do not know the difference, am an interior design student and people always confuse us with interior decorators
Im an interior design student and we're basically doing the things that you mentioned about interior architect's tasks. We're still gonna be recognized as designers after we graduate and get license tho
same here lol
this was really helpful!
thank you, you really helped me cause i was thinking about wether to do architecture or interior design, i loved both. i knew about interior architecture but not specifically what we can do. and you explained the difference really well!
keep it up!
Thanks so much Sarah! :)

Thank you!🙏🤗💓
As a professional interior architect ; my praise and respect for such clarification.
Thank you! 🤗🤍
Thank you so much for explaining the difference because also im an interior architect and my family and friends never understand that.

Here in the UK anyone can call themselves an interior designer (unfortunately) even if they haven't done any studying🤦♀️🤦♀️
All the best with your course!

Hey
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! This video was very informative. Thank you for taking the time to throughly explain the differences in all 3 of these professions. I will be starting my academic journey in January, a 2 year program, and I will be studying Interior Design. I plan on obtaining my BS in Architecture upon the completion of the 2 year program. I knew I wanted to combine both Architecture and Interior Design, but I just did not know how. This video showed me that being an Interior Architect is the perfect solution for me to do both. Thank you again for making this video!!!
Hi Ashley! Thank you so so much for your comment 😊 I wish you all the best on your own journey 🍀🍀🍀🍀

Well said, I was confused about doing Architecture or interior architecture. I'd definitely go for Interior architecture 😊
Best of luck Daniel 🍀🍀
Well done!👏🏻And good luck with this amazing channel of yours guys!😍 I hope in the future you get the recognition and following that you deserve!👏🏻🥰 Lots of love from Saudi Arabia😄💚🇸🇦

U just made me realise HOW IMPORTANT INTERIOR ARCHITECTS ARE!!! OMG
Then you should call yourself an Interior Designer!
For the interior lighting, are you producing youself or outsourcing? For example, if you get an office decoration projects, are you contracting the lighting, furniture also or only output the design drawing?
@@fuleverlighting5560 yes I am, the only thing I outsource is the electric mechanism.
Thank you so much. This helped me officially decide on interior design.🤗
yay!!! thanks
5:10 yep sustainability is so important!
Very informative video. Can you please post videos of your typical days as an interior architecture
interior architecture student here! thanks so much for explaining all this. it’s hard to explain when people ask what i’m studying. they always think of what they see on HGTV.
You're welcome Chloe!💖🙏😊
you know Jacqueline i agree , and i have the same problem in my country and tried to explaing it to people as much as possible
i noticed this around the world , the word of
" interior design " is much more spread than " interior architecture " , so goes for the database of the search online
Yes you're exactly correct! Very frustrating lol😅
Finally a video that clearly states the differences. Thank you 🥰
You're welcome!🤗💖
I talk about this and clear it up in this video:

Usually yes! Alot of architects move over to interiors over time (once they realise it's much cooler😏😉 haha) All the best!
Jacqueline
Are B.Arch and interior architecture two different subject?
@@farjanatahniat5509 that’s what i was wondering too
Yes you can be an interior architect with an architecture degree, with the knowledge of architecture you can do that with no problem because interior architecture is a fraction of architecture that you learn on a bachelors of architecture, actually an architect has to design the interior in order to design the exterior of a building, interior architecture is for those we don’t like a lot of the aspects of architecture and prefer to study the amazing world of interior design mixed with architecture but not everything about architecture (mee I think is more funnyy)
I truly enjoyed the video. It answered so many questions I had and explained things I didn’t consider

Best video I've seen on this. THANK YOU. 👏🏾👏🏾
Regarding building regulations- do you refer to the aforementioned books in your video? Do IBC apply to the UK projects? Where do you learn exhaustive do-s and don’t-s in terms of regultions?
Hi I learnt all this at university BUT whilst running a business, I rely on alot of books 😅😅
Finally a perfect video for me. Thanks for explaining.
Thank you!😊💓
I agree with the door hits the toilet because my school bathroom is so small in the cte building
Which one to pick etc👍
Jacqueline 😊
I would look at larger architectural firms as they would have the kind of interior architect projects you are looking for☺️🙏✨
After completing a degree what is the employability rate after uni and how do salaries differ between an interior architect and a architect?
This helped me very much! Thank you so much, i now know what I want to study
thats so amazing ! Really appreciate your comment 💓

Jacqueline 😊
Hi usually they are all combined at university level (so you can decide after) and thank you for your kind comment 🥰
If I'm not in a place to begin schooling for interior architect work, how would you recommend I begin learning, studying, and practicing how to become good in this space?
I'm going to answer this in my Q&A video 🙏
