About this video:
Someone in my family told me about a possible time capsule in our old family house, after investigation I found a box dating from around 1900 judging by the objects and the technic of the photos found inside.
I then decided to develop them using one of the oldest ways to make photography prints : Cyanotype.

WOW...Amazing the emotion that this brings forth. We feel the connection without ever knowing her or her cat. We feel the sadness of knowing they are no longer here. AAAH how we souls are so inter connected without realising it.. ❤
I am touched to be in the company of many rare humans who still have humanity and empathy, where men are not afraid to show emotion and we all gathered here at a Place where memories of 120 years was given life again. GOD bless you all. Keep that love alive and spread it around to many.
That is a profound way of putting it.
well, the soundtrack got someone emotional here.
jamest6474 I guess.....
Interesting thing to say, especially during a quarantine...
Regardless of the fact, I find it to be refreshing that there are people still feeling any type of emotion besides self centeredness or anger.

Beautiful story. Never forget a beloved cat. 💕
How could she have imagined that, 120 years later, long after she was dead, someone would find the negatives of her beloved kitty, and develop them as nearly half a million people watch and say; "Awwwwwww!"
Thankfully an intelligent person with the capability to resurrect and share her story found this capsule, beautiful 🍻

@@shockadelic he most likely just put it back where he found it for the sake of the video. I'm assuming he kept the capsule with him and didn't just leave it where he found it.
That was lovely. I am now over sixty-years-old and becoming with age painfully nostalgic. I want younger people to know that all the former me’s from as far back as infancy are still alive, still here, still a part of me with all the vivid memories and impressions of life-all the joys and sorrows, dreams and desires, fascinations and wonders still a glow in the radiant light of my mind and spirit. Each one of us is our own time capsule. We continuously grow, learn and develop. Our souls become wrapped in layer upon layer of those myriad experiences like the rings of a tree concentrically expanding around our core.
Awesome comment. Thank you
Beautiful!! Understanding our individually and making our own identity should not keep us from connecting with others, be it human or animal, anything alive or even just the cosmos!
I'm only 16 years old, but somehow, I feel like I've missed things. Being born in the early 2000's isn't that much different than today. I couldn't really see the evolution of technology and live the colorful era of the 80's.
Beautiful comment
I am also 60 ys old and it brought tears to my eyes because we belong to an era that is gone. I still remember bringing photos to develop to the shops, its incredible how nostalgic this is!
This is so personal. She clearly loved her pets and wanted them preserved on film. What an incredible find. I'd like to think she's "up there" somewhere smiling, together again with her pets. Thank you so much for sharing both the incredible find, as well as the cyanotype method of development. Just fantastic all around!
She probably didn't really think twice about it, playing with her new camera, her cat outside frolicking, her out there with her pets, taking a few pictures, then going off to play somewhere else with her innocent childhood... in time, she would become more social in society, finishing school, all the memories that go with those years, all the things that shaped her into maturity... becoming a woman and entering the work force, perhaps, or marrying some long loved beau.. having a family of her own, children, watching them grow into adults, all the life around her, all those then current things, and fond memories yet never considering 120 years into the future.. grand children, she's old now, sitting in her chair, watching them play. friends and family come and go all the time, she's content. but death... she now knows it all too well. Perhaps she watched her husband of so many years pass, or friends she loved very much.. the pain of loss, where only memories remain.. and now as she lays in her bed, in her final moments, she smiles.. because her life was lived fully..
we can only imagine her life. and those photos are the slightest glimpse into it...
I've done prints from old negatives and always feel honoured and humble when I do so. One favourite is my Mom and Dad dressed up, going out to a party. Mom is just starting to show a bump. It's me.
Laura Halliday : that’s amazing !
God Bless you💗

You took the words out of my mouth...i think thats why i got emotional watching this...i think it was nice that someones life (in this case a little girls) was somehow remembered.
I’m actually crying my eyes out and I don’t really know why; it was so beautifully done.
It’s just so incredibly touching on such a soul level
Because everything about it is designed to make you feel something. The slow motions. The moments with no sound. The dramatic music that slowly builds up and finally tells you when to feel something. Truth is they didn't need to develop these plates with chemicals at all, you can see the negative image on them.
@@peterb9862 Uhhh, well... I believe, the little girl's intention, was to have her kitty be seen, as dear, to her heart an essential being, in her life. By turning a fragile, glass, photo-plate negative, into a normal image, Mathieu has enabled (us), non-photographic experts, to see her lovely pet, in a regular fashion.
The music is, clearly, there, for the purpose you suggest, nonetheless, I - and, many others, as we now can see - are delighted, that the sweet, innocent wish, of a young girl, met with some measure of success. As an aficionado, of historical inquiry, the very thought, of a child, reaching out to (me), though, perhaps, anonymously, is another marvelous reward, for my intention, of connecting with the past.
If I were touching those delicate keepsakes, in a little tin box - knowing their purpose - I would have been flooded, with emotion, just in the silence, of the workshop!
Man, If we only could have time machine. Imagine going back in the 1900s and telling to that little girl, your photo will live.
SomeRandomGuy Not only that it will live, but that hundreds of thousands of people across the world will see it. Mind blowing.
well you just outright fucked me up, fam
She'd tell her parents and you'd be locked up in a lunatic asylum for being some strangely-dressed weirdo, speaking in a funny way and claiming to be from the future whilst approaching little girls to engage them in conversation about their pets.
And you took a dna sample of the cat and cloned it.
That would be so cool. To think that some possibly-random photo she took all those years ago is being looked at today...amazing.
As an animal rescuer who has kept every rescue I took in over a 40 year period, this makes my heart swell with so many emotions; love, melancholy, happiness, and faith that that the little girl grew into an old lady that loved and cared and they are all together again. 🙏♥️♥️🐾🐾
This honestly brought tears to my eyes. A piece of "Every day," featuring a beloved companion that left long before I came to exist. What a beautiful memorial they left behind.

That little girls precious treasures were heart warming to see...reminds me of a time when people just loved simple things,an not strive to out-do one another.
Being both a photographer and a cat lover, I am fascinated by this. I am sitting in a chair with my best little friend on my lap, and when you said that she did not want her beloved cat to be forgotten, it made me a bit emotional. Keep making these thoughtful videos, please.
Is it just me or a lot of people also feel a sort of emotional attachment to things of the past, regardsless if they are ours or not?
A different time and place just like you were there.
Yeah, i do that.
Vicarious nostalgia....
Absolutely. Not sure why but I was sad seeing that little cat and knowing for sure that she is no longer on the earth plane. I hope she is in heaven with her owner, her kitten and the dog.
I’d say it’s just you. But knowing there’s so many Nancy pants in the world, you’re probably not.
It reflects on our own mortality and experience. 120 years wasn't that long ago, yet they are gone. We are the past for someone else, soon to come.
Crying. This cat is back in the world.
I'am pretty sure this cat is in the word anyway. Despite that why is someone want to put photo of a cat containing nothing significant to that time in time capsule, there are some details I could tell already this is not 120 years old photo and it is not about being photo expert and technique of that photo.

Animals touches people's heart deeper than humans...
I love animals, but I have to disagree. The human-to-human bond is unbelievably strong when it is genuine. Sometimes people just feel like they can't show their love to others. We should change that.
Animals love unconditionally and aren't intentional assholes and cruel like humans can be. Animals innocently depend on us and have absolutely ZERO ill will and bad intent. Humans are arrogant, rude pieces of shit who intentionally hurt others.
Elena Rossi yea but a human can show affection in many ways that animals cant, plus the affection from a human is hard to get and maintain which for some gives it more value. So, although most humans cant/wont love us like animals do, a human can definitively touch another’s humans hearth deeper in those very special occasions.

@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
When I was 12 me and my cousin were looking at old stuff in a shed. There were several cameras in there. One 1960s Polaroid, a 1940s Argus, but my favorite, a 1937 keystone movie camera. I collected cameras so I was happy to have found them. Unfortunately after sitting in the shed for a few decades it had rusted and the camera didn’t work anymore. But there was a roll of 8mm film inside. I had the roll of film for a while after that until a few months ago. I watched a video of some guy developing movie film and decided to try it myself. Only half of it was used. But what you could see was a video of our street in the 60s or 70s. A kid riding his bike. Then a party in someone’s backyard.

I'm enamored with the first photo. I can easily imagine a young girl sitting on the ground taking a photo of her beloved companion. We're instantly drawn to the kitty's face and her mane with such good composition, contrast and bokeh. And I'm left wondering what has caught the attention of the kitty.

Beautiful. Moments in time "frozen" forever....Its kind of silly that every time I see this type of "thing' (old photos) my first thought is something like "wow all those people are long gone".....There are photos in a coffee shop where I live (Idar Oberstein) that has pictures taken of the area immediately around the shop from around the 50's(?)...Often look at them and think "every person in these photos has a story, where did they go? what did they do in life".....Again, Beautiful work.

It made me smile, the girl who took this photo really doesnt want her cat to be forgotten, the second photo nearly made me cry 🥺💖
Such a tender moment that touched my heart. How wonderful it would have been if the names of the fur babies were found in the time capsule. Therefore, I imaging their names would've been something like Tabby, Kitty-tom, and Daisy the dog.
Photography is freezing a moment in time. At times it conveys such sadness. The last time I felt like this was looking at the photographs of the personal belongings of Vivian Maier. It evokes such sad emotions like no other medium. Thanks for this.
I miss my cat already and she is just in the next room. This was beautiful. Thank you.
Lol! That’s sweet.
You are becoming one of my favorites youtubers, your videos have something between small stories and pieces of art that make me feel something special
I'm so glad!
So wonderful that you made the fur babies come alive! Touched my heart. We buried a kitty in my baby blanket when I was about 3. Funeral and all in grandma's back yard. After the pretty toung n groove chicken house had been removed, my friend came and rototilled the area; we hear a noise and stopped to check, when I saw my receiving blanket, I knew it was the kitty in that hinged cookie tin, it had been there only 15 years. But i recognized that lil mummy!

I wonder about how their lives have been, were they happy? They most definitely loved their cats ☺️
Well you see some.of there life with.images
@Extraordinary Umm, that's completely false lmao
Do you even have any working brain cells? God you are so manipulated by society and modern education.
You should check out this channel called unheard. I recently discovered it.. They talk about lives and stories of normal people. Their stories. Your comment just reminded me of it.
Are we allowed to cry ?
yes we are
In the tune of Obama: "Yes We Can" (btw Please "No MAGA-2")
thought only me cried😥😥😥
Join the club.
I 😭😭
It's so great that these artifacts ended up in the hands of someone with the appreciation, dedication, and wherewithal to appreciate them and render the pictures.
Cats and RUclips go together so well that even a century can't keep them apart.
I liked the care and respect he had in keeping everything as it was before. Beautiful!
Simply beautiful. Shows how important photography truly is.
What an amazing experience you had during the development of such an old exposed glass negative ! Beautiful. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So dear that a girl, before her social programming, had no ego, and the love of her pets and such simple objects of importance to her to pass beyond her through the ages. Children have a tremendous lot to say. Thanks so much for bringing it all to life!
That's just beautiful and sweet! I bet who ever the little girl was is smiling from heaven. And reunited with her beloved cat❤.😻👍🙏

Moi aussi. Very beautiful video, Mathieu. God bless the little girl who loved her cat, kitten and dog so much. I hope they're all together again now.🙏✝️
Yes please, Mathieu. Wonderful video.
I'm struggling to hold back my tears.
This touched me instantly...the beautiful Kitty with her dog friend and kitten on lawn 120 years ago..and coming back after 120 years...it will never be forgotten and this picture will be worth millions in 20 years..
Incredible! Brought a lump to my throat; that’s what Photography is about
Holy mother in Jesus, even 120 years ago media was all about “cat videos”. 😹😹😻😻😼😼😽😺😸
Not quite, these are photographs, not videos.
Thumbs Upped but... Don't bark man! Pussies are in sweet sleep! 😹😻
When you have a genuine cat friend, it’s hard not to be in awe and want to share the love. Pet love is such a beautiful thing.
Ahhh, not even close...
Egyptian pharohs: Here, -grab- hold my -pussy- cat
Who can afford cameras 120 years ago?? Few people i guess
Great series, and thank you for not saying the cliche "what's up youtube". More photography youtubers need to learn what filmmakers already know, "show don't tell"
I teared up watching this. I have rarely put my cat in my videos, but uploaded one tonight. When I read "She wanted her beloved cat not to be forgotten," I lost it. I hope my cat is never forgotten as well. Well done!
How SWEET !!
That was incredible!! Brought tears to my eyes as I know the feeling of having love for pets. You did a wonderful job recapturing the image of that beloved cat.
There's something profound about immortalizing some being from the past who would have otherwise been forgotten.
Goodness! When the cat was revealed it brought tears to my eyes.
Even back then sharing pictures of their pets was a thing. So precious.
That was amazing to watch and brought tears to my eyes. Cherish those photos forever so her furbabies will never be forgotten. 💖
Miss Gigglebox it’s just a cat
StupidEditsGuy Yes but its about the sentiment of keeping it
It is fascinating that this cat was able to stay still for like 5 minutes
I'm wondering about that too... those are awful clear photos for something moving...🤔
And how there was zero dust...
Large plate negatives had larger lenses which let more light in, so she could shoot at a higher speed. Which was probably in bright daylight also.
Therefore, no blur.
120 years ago was 1900, developing solutions back then on glass plates were faster than they were in say 1860s. Just as technology changes quickly now, it changed pretty fast in those days too. 40 years is a good chunk of time and many things can change in that time.
This made me cry and smile, its so precious. Thank you.
Oh my goodness this really touched my heart and made me shed tears of nostalgia. What a beautiful picture of her beloved kitty.🌟💛🌟
