I had several horses, and they bonded with goats well. One horse & one goat, in particular, bonded so much so that anytime I rode the horse the goat would follow. The goat also slept in the stall with his horse-buddy. They were inseparable. My horses didn’t like the neighboring sheep, and visa versa. Goats are very smart & incredibly strong. Not easy to tether. As long as they got to be with the horses, they didn’t exhibit any destructive behavior. You’re an inspiration to many who fear living their life in their own way and on their own terms. Continued good life and happiness together.
I feel like animals bond with different animals all the time. Its like animals have their own personality who they will conect with. The same goes for the same species of animals
You should be proud of Crow, but you should be VERY proud that you both are hands on parents and take the time to explain things to him you are taking an active role in his schooling. The patience that you both have with him and each other is amazing and you should call your parents and say thank you for their guidance Love and acceptance in raising two such outstanding Men. Hey guys! You asked for first hand opinions about horses, sheep, and goats as companions for one another. I've been thinking about trying to message you all with a suggestion that kind of goes along with your inquiry. First of all I'll tell you I got my horse when I was 6 years old and he was 2. I had him for 31 years and loved him dearly. He was the only horse on our property for most of that 31 years. I started buying, showing, then breeding sheep when I was 9. I had as many as 40 sheep at one point in the pasture with my horse (Skeeter). They all got along just fine. I know he was definitely happy to have them around. That said, one of the top five pets I ever had was a nanny goat. She was the most amazing pet. Very intelligent, loving, fun, and hilarious. She was such a wonderful pet that I have wanted goats again for my whole life. I'm now 59 years old and about 15 months ago, I finally bought three does. I could not be happier about it. In September I bought a buck and now have 11. My does had 7 babies between them around Valentine's Day. One of the things that got me finally off center on the goat thing was that I have a lot of knee trouble and like you all I love to camp and hike. That brings me to my initial thought of wanting to contact you. Check into pack goats. There is quite a bit of information on RUclips about them. I was thinking how awesome having a small string of three or four pack goats would be for you all. I would think all of you would love them, especially Crow. Goats would not only be fantastic company for your really awesome horse, but could carry the bulk of your camping and hiking gear, as well as things like your drone, cameras, etc. for your channel. Just check it out. I hike with my goats all of the time. They just follow me. They are still to young to carry packs, but I just enjoy their company and their crazy antics. Fellow hikers go nuts over them. Yes, it's true. If you have certain trees you don't want them to munch on in your pasture you might have to wrap the trunks in a few layers of chain link as far up as they can reach while standing on their hind legs, but that's simple enough. I've had so many animals and do love them all, but goats attitudes about people are the closest I've ever seen to that of a dog. Anyway, now that you think I'm the crazy goat guy. Just consider it and check into it. After researching it, I think you might love the idea. Before I stop this seemingly unending comment I just have to say that I love your channel and really admire the example you three and your growing menagerie are putting out there. Thank you for breaking some stereotypes and being fine examples of how beautiful and successful an alternative family situation can be.

Barn cat. 100% good idea. Though you'll need to be sure to create a warm area for him/her during the wonderful Rocky Mountain winters. Keeps the birds and mice away. Plus a plethora of other positive things. And depending on where you get it, you'll be saving a cute kitty.
I have a large flock of chickens(Over 40 due to chicks hatching for spring) and a large herd of goats(Over 25 + babies weekly right now).. The Goats are fine in my large pen, formally a large cow choral. But every once in a while, the goats figure a way out and if they come into my yard then my flowering shrubs and bushes get a hard pruning. Goats LOVE Hibiscus btw. Cows do to, because my dad's cows would reach through the barb wire to eat my Hibiscus shrubs. I went to a local garden center and found a deer repellent you spray on leaves that make them bitter to taste and now the cows and the goats leave my shrubs alone.
Good for Crow on his reading ability and more. You guys are just having too much fun renovating that home and building your farm/ranch house. Nice to know you are making friends. Matt and Blue play off each other very well. You guys keep romantic and continue to keep it real.

Hey guys!! Great vlog!! As for sheep and goats with horses, my friend Annie who owns the stable where I board my horse, she has goats, sheep, chickens,, a barn cat, and 2 collies with a blue heeler. The goats and sheep have their own pens and don't mix in with the horses. Its enough work to have different turn-out days for the mares and geldings. The chickens get free range of the stalls during the day, and get put in their coop at night. They get chased back to the stalls if they wander around where people are saddling up by the collies. The collies keep an eye on the horses, goats, chickens and other intruders, as they are always alert.
Crow is going to be so knowledgeable with his reading, that you guys will going to him for some information. Hi guys, greetings from Ireland, I manage a thoroughbred stud farm and I can say that most horses will accept sheep and goats but like all creatures there are different personalities so it can depend on the individual. We have one mare who is no fan of the sheep who graze here but all the rest, about 30 mares have no issues. Horses are herd animals so if given a companion of any species they probably will bond. I have seen a horse bond with a rooster. Goats and sheep are commonly used by people for companions for nervous in racing yards. I did notice a comment about cougars....not sure if lamb chops on demand is a good idea😜 Best of luck.
Sorry to see Blue soo pooorly at the beginning but glad he seemed to get better quickly! Love 💕 your clips. We don’t have 🐐, 🐴 or 🐑 but was we live in Yorkshire UK there are lots of sheep nearby! We do have a 16 year old house cat 🐈 who is sleeping 💤 next to me as I write this. No little homestead is complete with out a cat but best get it fixed if you don’t want lots of kittens or a wandering Tom cat. But I wanted to say how fantastic you dads are to encourage the love of books and reading that Blue will develop as he grows older. I know exactly sheep about sheep but you know what would be even better and provide hours of fund videos??? BEES! It's right there on your shirt, which i love btw. Bees are so cool. They are a lot easier than you would think to have a round. Once you get them started you just let them do their thing. They are so fascinating to watch. Plus you could use the wax for candles...and...honey! I have bees but i would still buy some of that Colorado honey :) Blue could even build the hives so it wouldn't cost a lot to get started.

I know how it feels as I have 2 great kids both now professionally employed in great careers. We went to our son's disorientation for his PhD at Harvard and was so proud; however, understood about 3 words in his entire presentation. LOL - they grow up fast! And you are both great parents and role models!!

As a kid we had a goat. (No pun intended) it was friends with our horses, they would play with the horses, we thought it was wonderful. Then the little goat (I think we called it button cause it was cute) got into a head butting phase and one of the stallions didn’t appreciate it. One day the goat head butted the stallion, it kicked, and we had Cabrito in the freezer for months. But otherwise, the goats got along great with the horses! O.K. shutting up now...
These things really make me want to have kids. The idea of raising a child and seeing them grow into fully developed, well rounded people... I don't know, it just makes me so happy

BTW, Goat Kids are cute, but they're rascals and too rambunctious, as they get older they can hurt you when they butt you; sheep are more docile.
I have goats and sheep, and they do bond but when it comes to feeding time they do get a little aggressive especially when having a ram, lol but they are cute especially when lambs are born 😊
My sis in laws ranch has them all! Even down to barn cats and dogs to herd the goats. They all pasture together! Chickens and ducks roam at their will during the day.The only animals they dont let hang together even a little bit is the donkeys. They can be real jackasses! See what I did there?!?! Oh no book fairs ....we avoid them whenever and however we can! It's easy to drop that much at them! One of ours is an avid and I mean AVID reader. I use Ebay lol. His Christmas gift from us a was a "lot" of Rick Riordan books i scored on Ebay. It was seriously like 30 books, in great shape, for $45!!!!! The look on his face....😍 💙💙💙

Horses and Goats get along very well. The goat will also protect the horse from being attacked by(God forbid) a Mtn. Lion or Bear. Goats will fight to the death.
It’s funny, as he sticks his head out of the blanket blue kinda sounds like Crow. It’s amazing even when kids are adopted they seem to resemble their parents in some way, whether that’s The parents rubbing off on the kid or the kid rubbing off on the parents, I’ll let everyone else decide.
I was raised around horses. My mother has had a miniature donkey for a pasture mate and it works out well. They barely eat compared to the horse and ours would chase off foxes and dogs that came into the pasture.
I don’t know anyone who lets their sheep and horses interact a ton. I know a few people who have goats as companion animals for their horses (especially high strung thoroughbreds) and they find those helpful. Also - in my experience goats are better at being on their own or with a different species and sheep tend to freak out more if they aren’t in a group of their brethren. Our horse barn has a barn cat and she doesn’t really do much because she is fed some food and typically just sleeps in the heated tack room all day. Alternatively, our livestock barn cat is AMAZING and isn’t fed a supplementary diet.

BTW, Goat Kids are cute, but they're rascals and too rambunctious, as they get older they can hurt you when they butt you; sheep are more docile.

I have goats and sheep, and they do bond but when it comes to feeding time they do get a little aggressive especially when having a ram, lol but they are cute especially when lambs are born 😊

My sis in laws ranch has them all! Even down to barn cats and dogs to herd the goats. They all pasture together! Chickens and ducks roam at their will during the day.The only animals they dont let hang together even a little bit is the donkeys. They can be real jackasses! See what I did there?!?! Oh no book fairs ....we avoid them whenever and however we can! It's easy to drop that much at them! One of ours is an avid and I mean AVID reader. I use Ebay lol. His Christmas gift from us a was a "lot" of Rick Riordan books i scored on Ebay. It was seriously like 30 books, in great shape, for $45!!!!! The look on his face....😍

Horses and Goats get along very well. The goat will also protect the horse from being attacked by(God forbid) a Mtn. Lion or Bear. Goats will fight to the death.

It’s funny, as he sticks his head out of the blanket blue kinda sounds like Crow. It’s amazing even when kids are adopted they seem to resemble their parents in some way, whether that’s The parents rubbing off on the kid or the kid rubbing off on the parents, I’ll let everyone else decide.
Goats don't destroy things. They're ADORABLE and FUN!!
I was raised around horses. My mother has had a miniature donkey for a pasture mate and it works out well. They barely eat compared to the horse and ours would chase off foxes and dogs that came into the pasture.

I don’t know anyone who lets their sheep and horses interact a ton. I know a few people who have goats as companion animals for their horses (especially high strung thoroughbreds) and they find those helpful. Also - in my experience goats are better at being on their own or with a different species and sheep tend to freak out more if they aren’t in a group of their brethren. Our horse barn has a barn cat and she doesn’t really do much because she is fed some food and typically just sleeps in the heated tack room all day. Alternatively, our livestock barn cat is AMAZING and isn’t fed a supplementary diet.

I have horses and sheep and I put them together all the time mostly because one of my horse has major anxiety so the sheep just calms her down.
