Have you had any problems moving diagonally with the built in joystick? The first unit I bought had an issue going diagonally in one direction so the guy on ebay I bought it from sent me another with a joystick that worked better on the previous unit, but it's still kinda hard to go diagonally in at least one direction on it. Then I recently bought the LE Nakoruru edition (the red one), and I am having issues a lot of the time going down + right diagonally with the built in joystick. It's possible to do, but it's hard and when you do move down and right at once, the character swivels when left and right when you do it that way. I haven't tried the game pads that came with it, as I was intending to keep those in the box in mint condition and use the game pad I already have for when the time comes, like at the end of Top Hunter where you have to finish each of the bosses in the boss rush off with a certain move to get the special ending, and I don't think I will be able to pull off at least one of the required special moves with the joystick issue I had.
I think "smeared with Vaseline" is a little harsh. There is a filter that lightly blurs the pixels. I wonder if they were trying for the effect of running it on an old CRT TV. Still, that needed to be optional.
I have a CRT specifically to use with a Mega Drive, and I can tell you, the pixels are razor-sharp. CRT's aren't limited by a specific number of physical pixels, so they should be sharper, although LCD's probably become indistinguishable from them at some resolution in terms of sharpness. It is a high-end CRT that came out in the zeroes though, a Beovision MX4200.
My only real complaint is the game list. Why is turf masters and say a couple others not on there? Oh so you will buy it on switch , ps4 or X box. 40 games is awesome. However I am happy just not understanding the game list?
dude, the stick is awful, they did not even bother to make its deadzones octagonal to make moves slightly easier to pull out (as seen in the analog sticks of the game cube controller) it is just cheap and stupid, it registers the directions way before you hit the wall which makes it even harder to use, this is a deal breaker for fighting games that need precise moves to pull out all the specials, it is also a deal breaker for side scrolling platformers or run and gun games, the only playable genre with this controller is shooters, I dont know how but it works just fine, and for some reason the game selection of all the variants of the console significantly lack the top shooters SNK released for the original AES and MVS, so honestly mod or not you are better off playing these games on your Android phone or Nintendo Switch or what not, this thing is an abomination

This is the best version to get. You get the much needed controllers and hdmi cable. Also, you get blood in the games.
old school Mortal Kombat got blood but in the Japanese version got green liquid 😂 Ed Boon's payback to Japanese developers
