I have been interested in cars from the age of 15. I'm now 61. But this car interior is by far the best I have ever seen. It's more than a match against any Audi. 64 choices in interior lighting, nice.
Head Up Display, 1370eur in my country. Those seats with massage costs about 1000eur as well. 360deg parking camera is 500eur. So the car specced in the review videos around in youtube will be quite expensive. I still might consider the car, but will remove some of the most expensive extras.
The interior is amazing. The design of the headlights remind me too much of an Audi and the engine is just okay but if I had the money, it would be the perfect car for me.
That's been the case since forever :-) That's even the case with cheap brands like Kia, let alone Mercedes. However, a decently trimmed A Class costs liltle more than the similiar Renault, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc.
Bmw designers must be sweating right now. Their next 1 series will surely have the same olddated recycled dashboard and tech as they are doing in all the new models
He maybe right. I have current 1 series and the reason I switched from Audi A3 is because of RWD and that sharp steering. But next 1 series will be FWD and if they keep the same set up and interior as in new X2 many people will go for this new A class if they can afford it offcourse
BMW dash has always been the same since 20yrs ago....just slap on a screen now. Its classic and nice looking, but they have to up their game if they want to compete with Audi and Merc new interiors.
Well done Marek, i was waiting for this next friday! Anyway, great looking car, worst ever interior room comparing to the dimensions, but who cares..People desire these driving computers these days, but in my opinion, they cannot understand the unreliability issues that will occur in the future. And the cost to repair. Let alone the potentian danger 'cause of the internet connection..
AMAZING REVIEW GOOD ENGLISH LOVE IT MAN AM GOING TO BUY ONE I PREFER THE 1.3 BUT I WANT TO TEST DRIVE THE 2.0 LITRES PETROL FIRST TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE
Every review I've seen people seem pretty impressed by how well the a class drives.....not a fan of the hatchback...sedan maybe, but if they integrate this whole tech upgrade in the suv glc (which as a young lady, is my personal favourite size for various reasons), I would be quite pleased...(maybe they could make the glc exterior a bit better too)...but this A class in the sedan version is tempting..very
I wonder if Marek knew that at the time of this review that MB had no intentions on bringing the 4door hatchback version of the A-class to North America.
Hi, happy new year! Disclaimer: Audi's not talking to me. The last A3 I drove was a sedan 8 years ago, and I thought it was brilliant. Assuming it still is like the whatever is the current generation Golf, I'd be worried about the user interface. Speaking of the user interface, I really like what Mercedes has done with the MBUX, but the overall quality of the compact Mercs I tested in recent years was a mixed bag. Which leaves us with BMW, which still has the BMW OS7, is relatively fun to drive despite being FWD, but I recall it being quite poorly soundproofed. TBH, I'd skip the entry premium hatchbacks/sedans, and step up to the minivans. The B Class and the 2 Series are brilliant cars.
16:18 are you sure the car you drove had twist beam? Did you look underneath? On the Benz website there is a photo of "AMG ride control" with a multi-link rear axle compared to the twist beam of the standard. I must say the sat nav camera with the live feed image instructions was impressive, the rest of the car less so, but then again I am 49 and Mercedes are not aiming there brand at me, I think of quality as how good something is where you can't see. Putting 200 badges on a 1.3 just makes me wonder what other corners are they cutting.
You may be right. Halfway through configuration a pop-up appeared that the car will have rear suspension upgraded to multi-link as part of whatever package. By now I'm about 40% above the base model price, and nowhere close to finished configuring the car :)
Dzieki, as you may tell I am becoming rather cynical. I have a leased Golf MK 7 GTD and VW are little better, it is coming up for replacement and VW in the UK charge inflated prices for options on the Golf compared to other VAG group cars. VW may lose a customer but I don't think It will be to Mercedes.
That's bound to happen in any car. A couple of months ago I had a rental Mitsubishi Lancer, and when the sun was at the rihgt height, I couldn't see the analogue dials.
If i am correct, you are 175CM, or 5'7". Therefore, I thank you for showing us the rear, which is only good for 5'7" and under. Very cool car (for singles or 2) and review, but obviously limited IN SPACE.
I dont hold the hight getting in the back againt the 200 because lets be fare if ur tall ur going to struggle getting in the back of most smallish family cars
Ohh i wait 9 min. for driving... Everything except seat and steering wheel is distraction... Too much stuff for "kids".... Interior looks fantastic. So question is... Does it worth money....But i think we must wait new BMW 1 series to see... Marek i hope you enjoy driving in dalmatia...
Prior to this video, apart from the amazing interior, every example of the new A class I’ve seen on RUclips have looked underwhelming exterior wise. However this A200 in white with the AMG body styling pack looks fantastic. Goes to show how easy it is to spec a car (in this instance) to look good, yet very easy to spec the same car to look rubbish. Interesting to see how much it would cost to spec an example to look the same as the white A200 in this video?
This was a press launch, so we don't always get exact pricing, but as a rule of thumb in the premium segment pick the engine version you want, and add 30-50 percent to the base price. That's without being extravagant.
the car has a Japanese character, the fuel tank is on the driver's side. The big mistake of the constructors is jeopardizing the order and culture of traffic rules in Europe.
It goes back a long time. Lights are a knob above your left knee (not unusual, Opel Kadett had that), indicators and wipers are on the left stalk (like in many 1990s American cars), and automatic gear lever is the right stalk. You get used to it pretty quickly, but switching cars you'll find yourself putting the wipers on, because you want to put the car in gear :) Older models had a second left stalk for cruise control, and that was a pain in the ass, because you couldn't see it, but you could touch it with your knee. Now cruise control is on the steering wheel, where it should be. Getting rid of the manual shifter frees up space on the centre console, so you can have that large touchpad. In the previous generation there was just a deep hole (a large bottle could fit) in the automatic models.
Here you enter into the a Klass (front seat) like a crab and it’s fine!! Not like in the X2 went you try to go in and out facing the exterior / interior
I've seen Matt's review. I agree engine sound is disappointing, but I've driven many cars with steering much worse than this. Sure, it's not brilliant, but perhaps it's a matter of high/low expectations. I didn't expect much from it, and I was pleasantly surprised. If this were a BMW, I'd say it's numb, but for a Mercedes it's quite OK.
Marek Drives : I’d like the 2.0 but I’d prefer to get the AMG line with some extras, just wondered that it’ll be painfully slow. At the moment I have an Audi A4 150bhp TDi. Once it has good enough acceleration to overtake, I’m happy 😊
Not impressed. Seems like they are using the A class to bug out the new MBUX and implement the fixed MBUX into higher models like C, E, S, G version. I prefer the older model for the exterior.
The minimal dashboard design, imo doesn't work very well to feel premium despite the big amount of technology incorporated. The missing cockpit is also responsible for this. I remain In love with the current c class interior and dashboard design
Very nice interior but looking through the steering wheel started to be so obsolete after Peugeot introduced their small wheel thing. Pity Mercedes didn't invent that.
I have been interested in cars from the age of 15. I'm now 61. But this car interior is by far the best I have ever seen. It's more than a match against any Audi. 64 choices in interior lighting, nice.
what was your first ever car
I would be far more impressed if we were talking about material quality and not lighting choices as even a very cheap car can have it.
My first car if anyone is interested J reg Ford Escort (UK). I think J stood for 1992. It was very old by the time i had it and was quite rusty.
The more I see this car, the more I like it.
Me as well, never thought I'd like how it looks
its an awsome car i have a brand new A200 i love it
Exactly
Open a door. Feels like a piece of tin.
Same here
Thanks Marek, you've convinced me, that's my next car
One of the best videos i’ve seen on this car, thanks! First time watching your videos btw
I appreciate that!
Thanks for the time and effort, Marek. Great review as always. Drive safe!
love your videos mate you are the best and so underrated
you have the best car reviews ever, marek!
I just ordered an A250 here in Canada, cannot wait!
one of the best looking interior s iv ever seen in a small car wow!
Head Up Display, 1370eur in my country. Those seats with massage costs about 1000eur as well. 360deg parking camera is 500eur. So the car specced in the review videos around in youtube will be quite expensive. I still might consider the car, but will remove some of the most expensive extras.
Just got my A200 Sport ehat a car. Looks great, superb performance inside the car is fantastic. A wonderful car in Jupiter Red.
Did u get the basic sport? Or sport premium? Did you get all the gadgets in the video?
I'm getting this car!!! or the A250 one... Sooo excited!
Good and honest review. After seing so many reviews I'd love to hear peoples opinions after one, two, three, four years.
The interior is amazing. The design of the headlights remind me too much of an Audi and the engine is just okay but if I had the money, it would be the perfect car for me.
The 250 has 224hp.. thats pretty quick
I love my a250 edition 1
Love it, but a properly set up car will be way too expensive.
That's been the case since forever :-) That's even the case with cheap brands like Kia, let alone Mercedes. However, a decently trimmed A Class costs liltle more than the similiar Renault, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc.
The previous model rear light is nicer than the latest one. the rest is beautiful especially the interior
Honestly better looking but still way expensive for masses especially young people... Are you shitting me? Halogen lights! 😡
I would rather go for new Focus ST 2019. Cheaper and better to drive
Pick up my a class 108d amg premium saloon tomorrow 😊👍
I don't get complaining about the engine sound of an A class. It's an entry level Mercedes and you want an E class AMG engine.
Love your honesty!
My new car in one week!! Cannot wait anymore 😱
Congrats!
@@MarekDrives thanks
I’m hoping to get one when released in Australia. This is the first time I’ve seen the “tell me a joke” demo. Cheers!
You got one yet bud? Im buying one in April or a bit later (depending on 2020 model release date). Keen to get opinions on personal experience .
Will the new CLA have this interior too?
the MBUX system is soooo good! you will never want to look at the traditional dashboard on Audi or Bmw
Build quality is not good and electric windows are not as good as Audi.
@@AH-hz5xc Audi engine burns oil, do you want one?
Ordered an AMG Line Premium today - should have it mid January. Love it.
DrewG75 2-3 week build time? Wow
How is it
How is it
Just discovered your channel Marek. I like your review 👍😎
I remember that you was very fond of the Cla, now there will be a long version of A and a new Cla, waiting for your reviews!
It looks money is the best description
Actually concerning the headlights, between the basic alogen lamps and the top multibeam, there are the full led ones.
Very good review!
You called it 3 years ago on usb-c 👍🏼
Ordered A250 AMG Line 2 weeks ago (y)
Shame you cannot get the 2.2d anymore. Just the weedy renault clio engine. :-(
I started off looking at the basic models . And walked out with the premium plus 😅😅🤦🤦
Zawsze oglądam w obydwu językach.
ZAWSZE.
Huge step up from the old one
As usual i love Marek tests! In some way i guess my A180 petrol 1.6 (122HP) is more economic...
Bmw designers must be sweating right now. Their next 1 series will surely have the same olddated recycled dashboard and tech as they are doing in all the new models
You mean the most profitable car brand in the world?
He maybe right. I have current 1 series and the reason I switched from Audi A3 is because of RWD and that sharp steering. But next 1 series will be FWD and if they keep the same set up and interior as in new X2 many people will go for this new A class if they can afford it offcourse
BMW dash has always been the same since 20yrs ago....just slap on a screen now. Its classic and nice looking, but they have to up their game if they want to compete with Audi and Merc new interiors.
The new interior will be introduced with the X7
Great great car! Great test
I want this car!!
with Start_Stop system?
TheMr1Boy fwd is cool......
The bmw 1 Series really have to step it up

AMAZING REVIEW GOOD ENGLISH LOVE IT MAN AM GOING TO BUY ONE I PREFER THE 1.3 BUT I WANT TO TEST DRIVE THE 2.0 LITRES PETROL FIRST TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE
Imaging how the facelifted version will be
It’s either this or a 2021 vw golf
What's the difference with the a180 amg and a180 amg executive. Is it worth the upgrade and why?

Thanks so much for the review. Good job! Can you please do a review of a the new 4th generation Audi A3. Thanks a lot
Unfortunately Audi Poland deems me unworthy of reviewing their cars.
@@MarekDrives ah that is so sad. I hope they come to their senses. Thanks for the reply :)
What about gasoline consumption? Any ideia of the averange in the test? Thanks!
This is a first drive. Too early to say. I think we got around 6-7L/100km, but that's not on "my roads".
Waiting for a new video A250e 2023yr
Do all cars with premium plus package come with the Augmented Reality Sat Nav?
I don't know what the Premium Plus Package is. That may vary from market to market.
Am pleasantly surprised to see USB-C ports in a car. And it’s a Mercedes. 👍
What a beautiful car but i still love my BMW 118i
I wonder if Marek knew that at the time of this review that MB had no intentions on bringing the 4door hatchback version of the A-class to North America.
Why would it? Was the previous A Class offered in the US?
Gracias. Muy buena presentación. Felicidades!
Happy new year Marek! Mercedes A class, BMW 1 series or the new Audi A3? Any help
Hi, happy new year!
Disclaimer: Audi's not talking to me. The last A3 I drove was a sedan 8 years ago, and I thought it was brilliant. Assuming it still is like the whatever is the current generation Golf, I'd be worried about the user interface.

I just love this car, it's what i need as young guy. But the price is not that accessible
Lupu Catalin lease it bud
I'm surprised how much they stepped it up, but the screens are way to small and it looks average from the outside.
16:18 are you sure the car you drove had twist beam? Did you look underneath? On the Benz website there is a photo of "AMG ride control" with a multi-link rear axle compared to the twist beam of the standard.

I didn't look underneath. AFAIK it's multi-link for A250, twist-beam for A200/A180d. I'll check the configurator later on.
You may be right. Halfway through configuration a pop-up appeared that the car will have rear suspension upgraded to multi-link as part of whatever package. By now I'm about 40% above the base model price, and nowhere close to finished configuring the car :)

I hope they bring it to Indonesia soon
What about this screen cocpit? It seem that on sunny day it reflects sunlight.
That's bound to happen in any car. A couple of months ago I had a rental Mitsubishi Lancer, and when the sun was at the rihgt height, I couldn't see the analogue dials.
What is the price of this car
Fuel consumption?
Love it, want it.
i can't decide between this and the volvo xc40. any help?
If i am correct, you are 175CM, or 5'7". Therefore, I thank you for showing us the rear, which is only good for 5'7" and under. Very cool car (for singles or 2) and review, but obviously limited IN SPACE.
Yes, that's about 5'7". This is a compact car, so it's either the only car for DINKS or a second car for a family of 2+1.
Thank you.
I dont hold the hight getting in the back againt the 200 because lets be fare if ur tall ur going to struggle getting in the back of most smallish family cars
Mercedes finally give in and accept the touch screen 😂😂
You forgot to tell about the gearbox?!
How much ??
Hope there will be a review about the new c class coupé
In 3-4 months.
take the badge off could be anything, hyundai kia included
i like that car too much but what is the price

Huge amount of reflection on the screen. Very apparent. Probably nothing is visible when sun shines from the side
I understand your concerns, but for the amount of sun I was exposed to, the screens were very clearly visible.
LOVE IT but i want to see the black one.

superb!!
the car has a Japanese character, the fuel tank is on the driver's side. The big mistake of the constructors is jeopardizing the order and culture of traffic rules in Europe.
How much! lol just to say your in a Merc, yeah the entry level one with the Renault Clio engine in most of them! 😂
Mooie auto
Watching this review with pleasure, thanks. Where is a gear selector and wiper control located?
Stalks left and right, like in all Mercedes.
Not familiar with Mercedes controls at all, thus asking....Its seems unusual compared to other brands.....
It goes back a long time. Lights are a knob above your left knee (not unusual, Opel Kadett had that), indicators and wipers are on the left stalk (like in many 1990s American cars), and automatic gear lever is the right stalk. Marek Drives yeah okay! But nowadays, even the new BMW 5 series is aiming more for luxury and “less steering feel”
What’s the 1.5 diesel like?
Like any Renault :)
Marek Drives : ok but I can’t remember the last time I’ve driven a Renault. Is it very underpowered?
180d should be OK. There's also a 2-litre diesel if you really want power.
Marek Drives : I’d like the 2.0 but I’d prefer to get the AMG line with some extras, just wondered that it’ll be painfully slow. At the moment I have an Audi A4 150bhp TDi. Once it has good enough acceleration to overtake, I’m happy 😊
After 2.0 TDI you won't be satisfied with the 1.5 dCi.
I love it
Same old issue with the back seat
Interior is beautiful. I'll prob get 2019 C class instead though.
