The A-Class has a stunning dash! The augmented sat nav is amazing.
I still love the 1 series though. Despite its age, its still the coolest looking car here to me, and I'll wager its the best one to drive.

The fact that the 1-series still has a actual hand brake (not a finger brake) and is rear wheel drive would sort of seal the deal for me.

@@parth_0521 hi, I had a 118i for a year and then opted for an M140i late 2020. Absolutely awesome cars. Loved the 118i so much that I got an identical looking car only it being an M140i as mentioned.

Ghani Ali I have a 2016 A3, highly recommend! I’ve driven 12000km on it in 5 months. A pleasure to drive, awesome build quality, love the steering wheel and the feel, great connectivity with my phone through Bluetooth and awesome headlights (xenon). Only “complaint” is it tends to oversteer a bit in winter conditions if the snow is heavy, but other than that it’s great. Mercedes is probably good too, love the exterior however I personally don’t like the interior that much, and they have issues with build quality (interior creeks to the touch), lots of videos of that on RUclips. For context I live in northern Norway, so we usually have pretty rough winter conditions most of the year except from late may to October/November.

I literally had to chose between these 3 earlier this year, and I went with the Audi. Every day I always think what if I went for one of the others, but I'm more than happy with the Audi. The main thing is if you buy one of these you're always going to be happy with it. I would recommend mine to anyone as I'm sure a BMW or merc driver would.

When I had the A-Class in almost the same trim. And I felt the indicator lever felt like fisher price plastic.
I have been going back and forth for 3 weeks on the bmw and a220.. You have made this so clear for me..
I'm a BMW gal and really felt conflicted moving to Merc.. but the Tech and interior took me away.. and then that driving in a BMW.. hooked me years ago🤦♀️🤦♀️.

I decided on Audi since I spend most of my time inside than outside. I find the rear or side view of BMW inferior. It has the best front though.

The A class has exposed paint door pillar? (At 14:00). This doesn't make it very premium. Feel more like a Polo or Golf.

What is the problem with the manual in the BMW? I have a 116d with a manual transmission and I'm really happy. It's feels great to shift gears.

I have a 1 Series now, and I love it! Hell with the luxury and comfort. I had them both. A car is meant to be driven, it's not a boat!
Just saw the A-Class sedan at an auto show this weekend. The screens are stunning. The resolution, smoothness and responsiveness of the whole operating system is just insane. The air vents are beautiful as well. BMW was not there but when we compared it to the Audi, the Audi looked so dated and like the other 2 dozen cars we sat in that day.
1 series in shadow edition for me, gorgeous and fun
I'll go with the A class but with different color, i like the grey one from the press launching event (and the commercial) I think that's the best looking A class

Colours this year in the UK could make Henry Ford proud. You can have white, red, black, silver, met gray (the one I chose). Nothing daring like Mazda’s met red or blue, no green or brown/bronze, no frosted finishes. And inside, black only for the uk. Getting a Mountain Grey met ...

I have a Mercedes A class since May 2019. I love that car. It looks well, drives well and the technology is amazing. Interior design is just fantastic - modern, minimal and simple. Those controls on the touch screens are super easy to use but I use the touchpad the most. The infotainment system is buttery smooth. The only thing I could wish for is a heated windshield.
What engine do you have? I'm getting my 180 next week

I had a 1 series from 2009 as my first car and I fell in love with the way it drives and how sporty it feels so 2 years later I got my self a 2015 M Sport 120D and I am loving every second I’m in it :)
Why are everybody talking about BMW's "outdated" interior and nobody says how Audi A3 is looking 99 percent same like model from year 2003?

I just brought a Shadow Edition MSport 125i, I test drove them all and the BMW was just brilliant with that rear wheel handling & Performance, it’s a really pity now that the new series one is front wheel drive.

Hi Matt,re: the BMW 1, a real mechanical lever handbrake is a plus not a minus as per your mockery.Not just for servicing either, with a tail happy RWD it's vital for an accomplished handbrake U-turn :D

The Mercedes cockpit design is so great and unique, it would be my main reason to chose it.
Unless the car hasn't any major flaws: Thats the part I look at, touch and use the most.

I just did a somewhat fair configuration between the Audi and the Merc and it turns out, that when fully packed, you can actually get an Audi S3(!) and are still cheaper than the A class. (with the 163 hp engine!)

Surely its a no-brainer (well, in my opinion) it has to be the 1 series. I may be biased since I own an M135i, but there's a reason why I chose it over it's rivals.

Saying that he hasn’t owned a real Mercedes is kind of weird.. and regarding old fashioned interiors... wasn’t Mercedes the one, or isnt Mercedes the one who still offers cars with a dial pad for phones? Hello 2018. Just because their recent cars have updated interiors, doesn’t mean the entire line up is. Reliability will always vary. Ie. People need to report flaws..

Harbl It's also easier with the manual handbrake to do a hill start if you have a manual gearbox. At least it is for me.

It would nice to put the exact characteristics numbers for each cars:
- Cars price and options list,
- Engine and transmissions choices and mileage for each,
- Weight of the cars, acceleration and braking measurements,
- Total length versus trunk size and interior size.

I hated this since the trend has started some years ago. All manufacturers do this shit nowadays. Reminds me of the Volvo's from the 2000s. Just like an old Garmin GPS stuck with superglue on the dashboard. Mercedes just took it to another level of ugliness with this A Klass.

Real handbrake, rear wheel drive, longitudinally mounted engine, lowest driving position, doesn’t look like a Peugeot, the 1 Series is the only option in the premium ugly hatchback category.
Overall though, I’d always buy a used sports car.

Be good to see these more run of the mill cars have a drag race. I love seeing an S3 against a Focus RS as much as the next guy, but knowing I can afford one of these 3, be good to know what the more “run of the mill” engines can do?
