The fa20 he has here is out of the 86/brz I believe since he kept referring to the fact it was naturally aspirated. Most likely the turbo variant is going to have a completely different cylinder head with larger exhaust valves and slightly different camshafts.

I would like you to talk about the low rpm oil pressure problem of the FA20.
Most tuners ignore this problem which in time most likely lead to a fatal failure.
The cheapest way to address this is upping the stationary rpm to 900.
I also read that some tuners found a better solution and keep the oil pressure at a minimum of 5psi.
Not by adding thicker oil because this will lead to slower circulation and therefore less cooling.

Hello The oil pump produces volume. The engine then takes over as the "pump" that is what the valve is for. It takes oil pressure to lift the bearing surfaces. Therefore when it has low oil pressure its not the oil pump but bad bearings in the engine.

If you’re going to build them the EJ is a little better. Mod for mod on stock turbo/block though the fa20dit in the WRX will make more power then the STi and will have a much broader torque curve. For daily driving I would take the fa20dit, it’s had a LOT less issues from the factory than the ej257 has to sort out. For a all out race car the EJ has been around longer so it has a lot more aftermarket availability.

@@sleeper.simulant7327 5th Gear in Nashville takes stock EJ257 and turbo. Just fuel upgrades, TGV deletes and puts down well over 550@whp all day long. Stock FA rods break at 350trq, max you can push stock internals is 400hp and you're still way over on the stock WRX tranny limits. Dollar for dollar EJ is by far superior, will stay that way for at least another decade.

I have been looking at the new Subaru offerings and I am pleased that the engines now use a timing chain. I am also happy to see that the oil filters are now on top of the engine rather than in the middle of the exhaust headers.
I am wondering if anyone has been able to install a bypass oil filter system on these engines. The oil addition hole is very close to the main oil filter area and it would be very easy to filter a small amount of oil through an oil bypass filter and then dump the clean oil back in the sump through the oil addition hole. Has anyone found an aftermarket system that does this? I have looked at Amsoil and I am not sure I could mount this inside the engine compartment.
